@Mac-pluto Yeah it does. Rich people generally have a business, or are involved in several businesses. The revenue they generate from these business ventures pays for the vehicle. They claim them as a business expense. They don't even have to pay out of their own pockets. Also, the rich usually own at least two vehicles, so this cuts down on the mileage and wear and tear.

I had a LOT of similar issues with my BMW 750iL. The service advisor told me that I was having so many issues because I was putting less than 6 thousand miles a year on the car. He told me that if I wanted the issues to stop that I needed to start driving the car. I had three vehicles, so I sold it to my Sister. She drives it every day and the problems stopped.
It was never about the money for me , loved the looks of my RR and way it drives , but 6 breakdowns, 8 weeks in garage over 18 months ownership was crazy - every time i went to it i just never knew what was gunna break next and stop me getting to work. The real griping about Land Rovers, BMW's, Mercedes and the like is the repair cost, not the overall reliability. These complaints come primarily from people who buy them used as the 3rd or 4th owners who buy them fully depreciated and are amazed that they can buy something for $25K that cost north of $100K new. Even though you are buying a used car that cost you $25K, you are still maintaining a complicated $100K+ vehicle. With age and mileage comes some pretty heavy maintenance and repairs. My S Class Mercedes and my Range Rover LWB are both over $120K new. I bought both at 3 years old certified pre-owned. Both have been reliable. Neither has left me stranded. I have had to put brakes and tires on both, but beyond that, other than fluid changes, both have been reliable. I had a recall on the S-Class and a bad ignition coil and throttle body on the Range Rover. Both vehicles have around 50K miles on them. I'm not complaining. I also bought them knowing that they would be more expensive to own than my Chevy Suburban. That's a given, but at least I got them both at 3 years old and bypassed the bulk of the initial depreciation. Funny that my Suburban left me stranded on the side of the road when the fuel pump module died and it had to be towed to the dealer. The tow truck driver had a helluva time getting it onto the flatbed because when the car won't start, you can't get it out of park. This is the case with most new GM vehicles and they all have the same fuel pump module in them. If they have an electronic shifter on them, you can't get them out of park if the car won't run. Both the Mercedes and Range Rover can be gotten out of park from the interior of the car if they won't start. So, yes, every car and car maker has its issues. The more complicated and technologically advanced they are, the more they will cost to fix. This is the same across all makes. Also remember if you can't afford to buy a luxury brand vehicle new, you most likely can't afford to maintain a used one that you can buy for the same price as a used Camry. This is why you can buy them so cheaply when they are old and out of warranty. You may like the flex of driving a luxury vehicle without the high cost of entry, but the maintenance and repair bills will shock you of you're not prepared for them or can't afford them.
Sounds like you you’re hesitant to admit you made a mistake buying it. I don’t believe you feel comfortable road tripping with it. The dealers don’t know how to maintain them.
I had a Range Rover Autobiography loaned to me for a week from a family member. It had the same supercharged V8. I never understood why people bought RR until the end of the week. That thing was beautiful to drive. Big, fast and luxury. They dont keep em long enough for anything major to appear. However, i did own as a personal car a Lexus IS350 F-Sport. Lexus was not afraid to charge for maintenence and it wasn`t imprevious to repairs. A 10k service, oil/ filter change was $275 here in Las Vegas. Major 120k service, plugs, serpentine belt, brake fluid, all filter and oil change was $1600. It also had a rattling from the roof. That turned out to be cables for the sunroof that detached from the roof. Quote was $5500. No thanks. Still loved that car tho, and miss it. Good luck on the RR, hope she treats you right.
Anyone financing a vehicle and following dealer recommended 10k oil change intervals is doing themselves and the power plan a huge disservice. For that amount of money you could get a 5 gallon barrel of top tier lubricant (enough for 4-5 oci) along with oem filters.
@@Mac-pluto The dealer is using bulk oil, whatever they have, or whoever they contract with. If I'm paying that much for one change I'd want Hpl Premium Plus in the crank, a lap dance while I wait, while sipping on some cognac.

That price is reasonable but check underneath for any leakages, ripped cv boots, squeaks, clicking. Turn the wheel from lock to lock when it’s on and listen for any clicks and rattles. On a test drive, feel for any wobbles or issues when turning especially full lock turns at low speed. Rotors and brakes are not that expensive if you do them yourself. I appreciate the fact that you did the services. I dont like the fact that you didnt inform yourself as to what the services were. You replaced active sway bar fluid. Does that sound like something that goes bad? People who are uninformed pay for it. I worked as a tech at land rover. Ever changed "dynamic" fluid.
Thanks. I try to have dealership perform the recommended services especially while its under warranty. The manual indicates it is a serviceable fluid. The reservoir is under the hood and the vehicle uses the fluid the allow the wheels to articulate off-road and also stiffen the chassis while cornering. I don't have to go into more details since you’re a land rover tech.

The cost of owning any car has gotten way too high. I use to change the oil my old 90s honda for $18 and it was super simple. This was 6 years ago. Now every car takes a huge amount of expensive oil and fancy filters. And then labor costs are outrageous. Rear main seals are common problems on all brands.
Forget about the unreliable vehicle. (I do own one) That's the most beautiful baby ever and the sweet little thing's expression says it all, "Daddy, why did you buy one of those"?
I can’t even. Thank you for the video. I already have a car that has been in the dealership for repairs a total of 50 days. More horsepower more problems lol
Your airbags won't deflate on your new one if you let is sit for a while. That starts happening well after 10 years being in the weather. Of course a oil change will cost $300+ at the dealership its a luxury car, just like your BMW
I don’t think airbags are an issue like the older ones, but I noticed the ones sitting at the back of the lot and the other dealer appeared to be lower than the typical access height. They were L494/L405 models. I totally agree with you. Any luxury car is going to be expensive if you utilize the dealership for all the maintenance and repair work. Future plans, I will go down the DIY route.
FYI if you have your vehicle in storage for a while and disconnect the battery, reconnect the battery, and if the air bags aren’t raising, use a floor Jack on the Jack points and then it will raise by telling something to the sensor. The passenger point did it for me. I’m a young blonde on my second Range Rover and they’re great just maintain it like a princess and get on repairs asap. Way better than jeeps off roading too.
If they oil change cost $300 could you imagine what a transmission flush would cost? Vehicle price reduced because of what your going through now word of advice get a personal mechanic that knows the vehicle DEALERSHIP ARE A RIP OFF peace good luck
Kind of. Jag started working on this engine before Ford became part of them and Ford used variations of the engine in certain early Lincoln vehicles. Also some Aston Martin cars have that engine as well. The engine was built at a Ford plant in the Uk.
@@eddiemcars Yeah, the 3.9 liter used in the Lincoln LS. But I never remember that engine winning any awards. It's a shame they didn't take the 4.6 liter dohc engine from Ford. That engine was near bullet proof.

The reason the price is dropping is the same theme as your video. These cars are known to fall apart on you, and at a great expense to repair. People know this, hence the drop in price.
There’s no way you think a Jeep will be anymore reliable, Trackhawk or not. They have PLENTY of issues, especially when they’re driven like they’re suppose to. Check out the forums if you don’t believe me. Transfer case, fuel pump, you name it.
Your first mistake was buying a car from non Range Rover dealer. Not that its going make a difference when it come to Rover reliability. My point is you buy a BMW from BMW dealer, you buy Mercedes from Mercedes dealer so that these dealers qualified tech who knows the particular car in question, generally speaking. My question to you is did you buy the car knowing Rover is unrilable? If so, then I can safely say you bought the vehical for one of two reasons; eestetically appealing or for the status of owing a Range Rover. Both of those reason is valid. However, you shouldn't complain about how much it cost to maintain a R.Rover. it's a known fact any luxury vehicles you take it to the dealer will cost you. Your defense for purchasing R.Rover is exception because the vehical is running smooth, and that's OK too, however, not all Rover is equal. I'm talking about over all percentage of Rover owner regarding reliability is staggering compared to other makes. Furthermore, buying a Rover, or any used vehicle for that matter without certified pre-owened vehicle is taking a chance, especially R. Rover. Even with warrantee I can't imagine dealing with all the headache of going back and fourth to the dealer. Good luck.
I knew exactly what I was getting myself into for reliablity… everyone is scared to own them based on rumors. I wanted to see if they are as bad as people make them out to be. I'm honestly happy with how reliable it’s been. Btw I don’t buy cars to impress others so the “status” aspect of a Range Rover means very little to me.
Cars I was advised not to buy: Land Rover, Jaguar, BMTroubleU, Audi, Volkswagen and not even mentioning the Kia/ Hyundai. This is from a master mechanic/ automotive engineer. All the people I know who owns said vehicles are unhappy with the reliability of the cars.
Not sure if you watch the channel “LR Time” but they give a lot of insight on these vehicles. Since your a person that has some knowledge of cars you will understand there point of view and how we should be doing our own in between maintenance on these rovers.
Thank you for sharing your story. I had a similar experience with my 2016 Range Rover sport. After multiple times to and from the shop even with the extended warranty I eventually got rid of it after 3 years. I felt like I lost my GF after all the time and money I had invested into that vehicle .
ya you ideally want to take it places other than the land rover dealer. They make a lot of money on the repairs, and will charge a lot more than an independant shop. You can buy a lot of the parts OEM online for so much cheaper than land rover sells them for. The dealers are always backed up, and their service is just awful from my experience
@@eddiemcars It may well be worth it. I'm sure you saw the Doug DeMuro video summary of his Land Rover. At the end of the warranty, it paid out over $22000 in repairs for a $4000 service contract. Since then, CarMax will not write a contract on any JLR product. As a side note, is the $7000 contract from JLR directly?

I would say get the newest you can afford. Look at the car fax history. If its been in repair every 2-3 months stay away. If its about once a year you should be fine.
Sounds good. Glad i cant afford it. You will need to make at least 200k with no kids or wife past warranty to afford this car living in a nice neighborhood and not eating fastfood lol. Honestly, if you dont on average have a third of what the car cost in your savings or somehow invested, dont get it
I tried to watch this video, I couldn’t do it. Dude talks too much. Maybe if you could go over your talking points during the intro, that way, we can determine if we want to watch.

I still have to stop myself buying another one tho - will the new ones be better etc but still not good reviews.😮
Did you buy a used one? The cost should’ve been covered by factory warranty
I keep 2 black range rovers 1 ea 2016 5.0 supercharged 510hp sport and another HSE 4.6L 375hp. The sticker price original on each was $90,500. the sport was 19,500 and the hse $8000. the Hse suspension went i put in springs 600 parts 600 labor. then the shift solenoid $1650 installed. new tires i got online pre used they we 80 each they mailed me 2 at a time. i saved bundles. my sport the alternator went $500 part included. i did it in my driveway at the condo in fl. the coolant leaks were 2 each thermostat housing assembly. then rear coolant leak for the rear heater core. i did a bypass it was remarkably easy. i put a video up 2 days ago of the repair done in my parkinglot a mobile mechanic friend teaching me. you will have to become a mechanic by default if you own a range rover. im on my 3rd one. i put black rims $1200. my seats are the football leather in the sport. mine is all black tinted dark windows. black paint with the light grey roof they call it a flying roof or whatever. people look at you and treat you like u famous. i love these rovers.
I thought smart people knew about the horrible reliability on this truck.
You sound like every other dumb a$$ who knows nothing about actually owning a Rover.
Exactly. Just because you have a Toyota or Honda product, it’s not immune to having some issues.
Anyone financing a vehicle and following dealer recommended 10k oil change intervals is doing themselves and the power plan a huge disservice.
For that amount of money you could get a 5 gallon barrel of top tier lubricant (enough for 4-5 oci) along with oem filters.
300 for a oil change isn’t even that expensive.
@@Mac-pluto The dealer is using bulk oil, whatever they have, or whoever they contract with. If I'm paying that much for one change I'd want Hpl Premium Plus in the crank, a lap dance while I wait, while sipping on some cognac.
I'm on my 3rd RR Sport SC Dynamic since 2014. Bought each used and kept them past 100k. Never an issue. But my 750i, and the 740i O owned before that both lived in the BMW dealership. Constant issues.
I find it hard to believe that someone with a UA-cam channel on cars doesn’t know that a Range Rover is a money pit. You already regret buying it. Great cars are reliable.
Exactly. People usually lease them when they're relatively new then move on to another vehicle before the mechanical issues begin.

Should do the oil changes yourself. Its soooo much cheaper, and really doesn't take long to do. I have a 2020 RR v8 also
@@jcdentonunatco how about the brakes and rotors, have my eye on a 2020 v8 they want 25k for it with 100 miles anything I should look into aside of taking it to the dealer for a diagnostic

Can probably do all four yourself for about $600-700. I buy my parts on FCP Euro, they are all OEM parts but WAY cheaper than the dealership sells them

Lease the vehical make sure you dealer has valet service and can drop off a loaner rover when it breaks down. When the lease is up dump and get another one.
Great cars but they do come with their challenges. I own a 2022 hst but would never keep it for more than 3.5 years. Mine has been in the shop more than I would like to admit. My advice, never buy one of these without a warranty. Or just be prepared for the very expensive repair bills to follow.
Happy cruising!
I have a 2019 RR sport and had the same oil leak. Now I’m dealing with the P0442 code but that’s pretty much it.
So my uncle have a 2019 Range Rover sport same one with 67k on it no warranty he only own 25k on it he told me I can have it for 20k is this a bad car to buy or is it a steal .im a bmw guy also but I like the Range Rover don’t know if I should buy it or its a waste any help
I think it's great deal.
I do my own oil change every every 3-5k miles on my l405
I extract it from the top
Easy job

Eddie I’m looking at a 2021 Range Rover Sport HSE V8 with 53,000 miles CPO your thoughts?

Question: Is the 5 liter in the JLR cars a collaboration with FoMoCo?

I will check them out! Thanks!
Aaah DAMN... i was thinking of buying the L405, well let me go for the Lexus LX570
It sounds like you regretting but trying to justify your decision
Eddie, So was your RR still under the manufacturer warranty?
At that time, yes.
I won't jump on the bury this car group. But for the love of God find out what an Extended Service Contract will cost...and then go from there.
I was quoted $7,000 up to 100,000 miles.
