One of the best sounding kits I have ever listen to live. It sounds incredible. The main reason I use Audix mics is because of Todd’s sound.

Very cool Todd. They are beyond beautiful..and you get to play them!! I was at that show at Chastain and then in September. Met you at the Ken Stanton music store when you held the masterclass there. Wow. JUST nice. REAL nice. Hard to compare this kit with my OLD Tama 6 pc w/Zildjians....even though it was top-of-the-line back in the 80’s. Now it’s my daughters/grandkids !

Great stuff Todd! I’ve been a guitar player for 2 decades and I finally got around to getting my own kit. Nothing fancy but it’s mine. You’ve been one of my greatest influences in my drumming journey. I don’t get to play as often as I’d like, but when I do, I try to remember what I’ve watched of you. Excellent playing, man!

what a Beautiful Drum Kit.
Being an old Ludwig guy, I just switched to Pearl. My main acoustic kit is now a Pearl Crystal Beat (Ruby Red) with 8, 10, 12, & 13 on a PDP Rack, 16 floor tom and 22 bass with Pearl Demonator double bass pedals. I know your video is two years old at this point, I guess I’m just late to the party. My wife and I saw you with STYX last summer in Youngstown. An absolute INCREDIBLE show, easily top 3 for me all time having been a concert goer since ‘83. Thanks for being so accessible and using social media to connect with fans and sharing your talent, technique and love for all things drums! God bless Todd!!!

I like the 6”, 8”, 10”, 12”. I play a single 10 up top, but would like a 6” or 8” too. I fight for every 1/4”.

Beautiful kit! Thank you for the tour. What in ears monitors you use, if you do not mind me asking? I have Weston ES60 6 drives in each, ear custom molded, and they were expensive but I wonder what the real pros use ..thanks!

I like that you've chosen the studio recipe shell but have 60 degree bearing edges, triple flange hoops and golden ratio air vents, Pearl are great for their range of options, particularly for one of the big manufacturers. Usually, short of going to a small, custom builder, you don't often see that many options you can tailor to your own taste.

I don’t see how he can hit that 6" tom with his left hand without the hi-hat getting in the way. A beautiful set of drums that isn’t DW!
Specially when he uses traditional grip, seems it would be even harder to hit
I'm sure once in a while he does. Same with the cymbal on the left sometimes you hit the hi hat on the way up and if you hurt your hand you don't do it again for a while.

This is LOVE!
It would be like Christmas morning to unbox, put together, set up, tune, and then play and make adjustments for months, just to get everything just right. Then do whatever necessary to make sure it's setup the same everytime it had to be taken apart and moved.

I thought I was the only one to catch that! I hate to say this but Todds version of Steve was cleaner than Steve Smith himself ! A whole lot more punch !
Is Todd now the "evolution" of Steve Smith?!? Both amazing drummers with tremendous sense of feel and pocket/groove playing.

I bought a brick of your stick a couple years ago. I number them on the bottom too. Sorry, I have moved on to vic firth X55B. I'm 50 years old too and going through my Bonham phase.....lol.

Beautiful kit Todd, I like the little side amenities like the wood stick holder pretty sweet that It height adjusts , I like the chair to get the little place for your tailbone
Would anyone happen to know how Todd got the overhead mics mounted onto his cymbal stands? I've been looking for something like this for a long while now, and other than some Gibraltar adapters (which I'm unsure of their durability), I haven't found much else. And of course, needless to say this is an incredible drum set (and rack), as are all of his other Masterworks kits!
God damn that sounds good. One day I'll get a Maple/Gum set!

I've seen prob as good but not better. Love the small touches like the stick box. You have 10 yrs to plan for the 60th kit. Is that a Piguet Royal Oak watch?

I like the old stand by masterworks maple and mahogany Kit's but would rather have straight premium Birch on smaller rack Tom's like 6" 8" and custom 9" Tom's as you well know that pearl youse to have 9" Tom's and 15" floor Tom's on there coustom z Kit's now I guess it would be like a special order for these spesific sizes now
Great kit, as usual. I was at the concert this past weekend and was slightly disappointed with the audio. It was difficult to hear the drums as compared to Alpharetta last year. It seemed pretty flat compared to other shows I’ve attended at Chastain but I’m thinking it being a Sunday night, the noise ordinance hours may be a tad different. Damn homeowners.

That's because that place sucks hard....there's an 86 (I think) decibel limit. A friggin' lawnmower is louder than that! Alpharetta is a different animal altogether---that's a normal place.

Todd, what did you use to attach those mic Clips to the cymbal stands?
If you weren't playing for Styx what would your drum set look like. I have 3 toms and 4 cymbals and 1 bass pedal. (working on the bonham foot triplets). Its awesome you can play all that and make it sound good.

Great tour! Talk about drum porn! And I love the Rack Tom/floor Tom/Gong drum configuration, from 6-12 Rack Toms to 14-18 floor toms complete with a 20 in. Gong drum! Such symmetry! LOVE this kit!
Fantastic kit!!! Congratulatons but, I had prefer his another kit with all hardware - every stands also - gold. Those kit "all gold" was very beautiful! One question: what you did with those kit???
That's the studio kit at home...they made me just one like that.

It's an option they have---they have several cuts available.

Pearl is awesome. I have 3 Pearl Kits. All I have ever played. But wish it didn't take 6 to 8 months to get a custom kit or even an add on drum. A 14x14 for my masters maple complete took 8 months. But they did make me a custom gong drum and it only took 6 months for that. What can ya do. Pearl are amazing drums.
