    It was over 43 years ago, I was sitting at 2L about to work my first DC-10 trip (Western Airlines SFO-MSP) when I heard that INTOXICATING harmonic roar...I've been addicted to the sound of the CF6 every since. There is no engine quite like this one.

    Biman Bangladesh, hopefully, took great care of these birds while they had them. I couldn't trust American Airlines with them.

      @mtrujillo1973 Yup, I concur. Too bad US Airways couldn't continue to exist w/o being merged into American. US Air and NW took care of their aircraft, all in all, vs. American. United and Delta seemed to take care of their planes better vs. American &
      Continental, IMHO. RIP, all old legacy DC-10 tri-jets, RIP. A real work horse for legacy airlines, including Northwest, til Delta merger and absorption of NW into Delta.

      An Epic sound indeed. Reminds me of my former trips on United DC-10s and more so with Northwest (NW/NWA), the latter being the last airline in USA to fly them. Biman was last airline to fly this jumbo jet til it too, was retired out of service.

      Thanks! I made the website by just using one of their template things and adding stuff, not too difficult, just takes time. Yes I do like to have an upload schedule so I don't run out of videos and space them out. Having said that, this year I've just been adding to that list a few weeks at a time, I cant plan that far in advance haha! The most organised I've been was last year when I created and uploaded a months worth of videos at once and scheduled them to go online over my exams. I can see a very bright future for your channel too! :)

    When the plane hit the big bump on runway, that engine sooo wanted to flip over the wing.

  • @ErickC

    Are the slats flopping about just because, or is it an automatic response to changes in angle of attack? The DC-10 FCOM makes no mention of such capability. Any mechanics around?

      some aircraft have slats that move when the attitude changes, maybe its similar to that! I worked on them for 2 years at DAS air at lgw and all i can tell you is that the slats are cable driven by an large actuator half way along the wing leading edge.

    • @MrSpodULike
      @MrSpodULike 5 років тому +1

      I noticed this too, and it doesn’t look right! It looks like the leading edge slat is not held in an exact position and there’s some play there somehow.
      I used to fly Northwest DC-10s quite a bit a while back, LGW to MSP to SEA. Once I remember looking out of the rear-door’s fish-eye porthole, mid Atlantic, and I could see a rivet poking out the top of the horizontal stabiliser - looking like a flat-headed pin! Then there was another time sitting behind the wing, and I saw what looked like a missing rivet-head on the side of one of the flaps. When I got to my destination I noticed the two next to it were now also missing! I had a friend at the time who was an ground engineer for these aircraft, and he said, “You’re not meant to notice that!” 😳

      It was 40 some year old aircraft at time of this video being recorded. Some things are bound to be a little “loose” she was a tired old bird. Can’t expect a 15 year old car to not have a few “loose” parts well taken care of or not

    • @A340RYANG
      @A340RYANG 10 років тому

      Wow, that's awesome. Do you do things when you get to your destination, or are you just there for the flying? Also, how often do you get to fly? I really wish I could do it more. In the next 4-6 years, I hope to have gained my CPL and be flying all the time :)

    • @charlest103
      @charlest103  10 років тому

      A340RYANG Yes mostly I do some sightseeing at the destination, though occasionally as for this DC-10 flight, I go just for the flight. Stay focused on that goal and don't give up, then you will be flying all the time! :)

      It isn't deathtrap, fake avgeek. The plane already retired since 2014 which never used anymore for passenger flight. Recently, FedEx already retire their DC-10 (upgraded as MD-10), leaving a small cargo airline in Bolivia which still use the plane.
