I love to watch how the wing moves. How it bends and flexes. Incredible engineering. It’s like a dance!
First time boarding a Jumbo was one of those memories that are so vivid, as a child they let me visit the cockpit and stay a couple of minutes with the pilots, Singapore Airlines, back then in the early 80s , the whole craft stood out while docked at the gate, the huge wide body, the four engines themselves were immense probably as big as a hatchback! Entering the plane and once in the galley facing the length of the plane you couldn't see the end of it... Once in movement one could realise just how heavy it really is, take off and flight comfort was something unseen before whilst sharing the environment with almost 500 other souls. Cockpit was as big as a Chevy Van, flight engineer had an infinity of knobs and buttons dials and who knows what else, glimpsing on towards the pilots seats was another spectacle. We were flying into the dawning Southeast Asia, I'll never forget that view and the nonchalance and extreme professionality the crew demonstrated with pride, yes it was that "superbird" that made many dream of flying and becoming a pilot. I miss this aircraft but I guess commercial aviation has evolved conveniently yes and as always in life convenience does come with a sacrifice of some kind, 747 in this case is a victim of the new trend even though the A380 came 40/50 years later it still in my opinion could not stand pair. I was in an airplane yesterday. It was a bombardier and the sounds are amazing! It feels so good to fly and I have always loved flying!

The first one I flew on in '73 had a piano on the upper deck, of all things... Northwest Orient...
30 years by jumbo, liked them far more than the DC10 & A380. Favorite ride was in the leather seat Lufthansa 747s. Cattle class except for the odd lucky upgrade to business & first.
These beautiful mechanical beast engines get us from where we are to where we need to go, safely and flawlessly! They have a sound of their own!
Best flight I ever took in my life was on a 747 from Los Angeles to Denmark. So smooth.

No. This engine is better than CF6-80C. So, this can B used in a C-5ceoa Super Galaxy. Ceo means current engine option and a means phase-a. In a C-5ceob, there will B 4 x Trent 800. In C-5ceoc, there will B 4 x GENX..

@@lockenlui900 Holy..I hope you don't set TO/GA @ 80-85% otherwise you best have 1 hell of a longggg runway..@2:10 throttles are taken to about 73% N1, then @ 2:15 advanced to about 93% N1/auto throttles armed

Those are some of the best sounding Pratts I've heard.
It has some buzz to it, but it is smooth. It's not too harsh like the Rolls-Royce.
I love it when you hear the turbines synchronise and then push all the way to takeoff power.

The 747 is still the best passenger aircraft ever made. I’ve paid extra to travel to the US from Singapore on the 747 even though I had cheaper and quicker alternatives on other carriers using newer aircrafts. The sense of safety and security I have as a passenger sitting in a 747 is unmatched when traveling on other aircraft. Even today, if an airline offers a 747 on the route I’m traveling, I’d choose that airline/timing/price. Unfortunately, airlines don’t see it that way.

AWESOME! I love seeing the operation of the forward slats (I'm probably using the wrong term), too.
Close enough Chris. Slats extend from the front of the wing, about 2/3rds are the upper surface and the rest the lower. Slats are on the MD-90,88 as well as the Boeing 72,73,75, 76, the Airbus line and others. On some of the 707s and the inboard section of the 72 & 73 Boeing opted for Krueger flaps which fold out from the lower section of the leading edge. Some featured a bull nose that rounded out the leading edge. On the 74, Boeing designed VCFs- variable camber flaps. They're like the Krueger flaps but they flex and curve when extended. They're on the mid and outboard sections of the wing, the inboard section is ordinary Krueger flaps. Cheers

Flew three times on the 747. First time redeploying after Desert Storm. 2nd and 3rd time round trip to the Philippines.

Fantastic videos! Do you, by chance, having any Boeing 707 takeoff videos? I remember as a kid, flying Olympic Airways 707's to Athens from NYC, and the sound.... OH the sweet sound of those P&W 707 engines spooling up, was music to my ears!
