I purchased a 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T April 2019. Currently I have over 145k miles on it. So far. Only scheduled maintenance , set of brakes and a couple of set of tires. What I find funny, Genesis Haters are watching this video, so they can complain. You gotta be very lonely to watch a video of a car company that you claim to hate!
One of the main negatives of Genesis is that is loses it's value very fast and the resale value is atrocious. For example, a 2023 GV70 that had a sticker price of about 62k is now fetching barely 33k with just 15k miles on it.
@@timbatee7433mostly every car loses value as soon as you drive it off the lot. Buying cars for their potential resale value is not a very good investment 😅
The people that put these cars down have never sat in or driven one. Compared to my (CLS) AMG I felt that the interior was on par, if not better. The ride and handling on it was quite impressive. When I was looking at one I felt the 4 cylinder was the better option. Better efficiency and felt plenty fine.
I'm in the same boat. People put Genesis down never even saw one up close. I drove a Porsche Cayanne, 6 hour a day for a week in it a few months ago. Although it has a fun engine and sexy lines, it was so not worth the money. I could see where they skimped on quality, and it felt underwhelming when you take a closer look at the panels and materials used. The control panels were a mess too. It's all about the brand flexing it seems. Genesis had way better tech especially the camera and sensor systems. Personally, I own a Genesis and it was way more comfortable and felt better to daily as an SUV. I get the appeal of the Porsche as "performance" but if I am paying that kind of money, I expected a better product. It's a waste of money when one can't even use all that power and "sportiness" 90% of the time, for anyone who is cross shopping.
Have been driving the exact vehicle since August. So far I am loving it. So many features in this vehicle that wasnt mentioned in the review. It comes with 4 winter tires on black rims. Includes tire storage and 2 changes per year for 5 years. I have to say that it handles different on the 20" snows than it does on the 22" summers. The lane keep assist with the adaptive cruise takes the stress off highway driving. 200 miles of hands free driving with only a one finger tap on the wheel every 6 to 8 minutes. Combined with auto massage seats, it is easy to do long distances in this vehicle.
They did a great job. This is how you truly compete. This is real effort. Just taking a car and changing logos doesn’t automatically make it nicer than their mainstream counterparts Hyundai and Genesis care about luxury and they want to truly compete All the haters are about to get a wake up call
I passed on BMW for a Genesis. I’ve driven Mercedes for the past 16 years. Drove Lexus and MINI before that. Wanted something different. Checked out BMW. No way! BMW interiors are cheap looking and feeling. I recently purchased a 2025 Genesis GV70 2.5T Sport Prestige with Sevilla Red leather interior and Savile silver exterior. So gorgeous. So luxurious. So quiet and smooth. Much nicer than my 2019 Mercedes GLC 300 and much nicer than the brand new GLC 300. I don’t regret choosing Genesis one bit. Also, unlike BMW and Mercedes, there aren’t many Genesis GV70s on the road. It’s turning heads and garnering lots of compliments. What a fresh and fun luxury experience. I couldn’t be happier overall.
I've owned countless German cars. But I've also bought 6 Genesis SUVs in the past few years. Genesis is a serious luxury brand. It doesn't have the performance of my previous AMG and RS cars, but that's clearly not what they're going for with the current lineup. I would take a GV80 Coupe over the equivalent German offering without any hesitation.
I owned a 93 excel, and now a 24 santafe hybrid limited. I owned a lot of cars between the two.. Most recently was a lexus, never in my life would think i'd say this, but the santafe is WAY nicer than the lexus was. Both material quality, and reliability. I hate the safety features, and the screen while cool looking is stupid because anyone who has hands won't be able to see the speedo.. But.. those ripping on the genesis, if it rides even quieter than the hyundai, it would be a win..
As always though, Genesis needs to hybridize their lineup. The fuel economy on all their cars is atrocious. I know that fuel economy isn’t likely something people buying luxury SUVs care about, but I personally would like to have an alternative to Lexus if I was in the market for a luxury hybrid SUV.
Hi! I should have clarified. I like keeping the phone out of sight so my vehicle is less likely to be broken into after I’ve foolishly abandoned my phone there.
The car's infotainment system will remind the drivers that their phone is on the wireless charging pad if the drivers care enough to read the texts on the screen before they exit the car. At least mine does so.
Genesis needs to be reminded that the value proposition is a huge part of their success so far. AKA being 90%of the German equivalent at 70%of the price. I get that an equivalent X6 or gle coupe will cost more spec to spec, but not THAT much more.
2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe (and with e-Supercharger engine) This IS cool!. 👍🏻👌🏼😎 I hope there will be an even more powerful 3.3 liter or 3.5 liter (420-440 hp) twin e-Supercharger, equipped with (two) electric superchargers. 🤔
Genesis has nice bells and whistles to attract buyers who don't know much about car performance. At a price point par with other proven luxury brands, there is no competition. If Genesis was $15K to $20K under BMW, Mercedes or Audi, then maybe.
7-8 years ago I see a lot of Genesis cars and Suvs on the road, fast forward today I barely see one anymore. Hyundai dealership near my house stop selling and servicing genesis, guess between the price, barely a name recognition, and reliability has caused their downfall.
Everyone talks about how they feel and drive now. The question is, is their build quality and design quality to last 7 - 8 years and still feel like they do today? There is no way I'd put out $80K on a Genesis, just too many unknowns for long term durability, reliability and quality. Also, how have these been doing in crash testing, specifically the minor and moderate overlap crash tests?
Im coming to the end of my 5 year lease on a 2020 G70 3.3 Sport, and re-upping with a G80 3.5 Sport. Without question, the G70 has been my favourite ever; im actually not looking forward to losing it. Genesis come and collect the car for each service, leave a loaner, then return your car to you. All free of charge. They’ve never tried to hard-sell me on unnecessary services/replacement. Ive had no complaints about build quality at all; no reliability issues whatsoever.
Love the design of this coupe version. Felt like the GV80 was a bit more mature to look at and less sporty. This one looks fab but I still prefer the only infotainment and screen design that the gv70 and gv80 had, more character than this long boring screen.
Around a second slower than MB and BMW's 6 cylinders with worse gas mileage. Is anyone else surprised that the Koreans are unable to catch up with one the other or both? At least the Japanese competition beats them in gas mileage. This is worse in both!
Is a Lexus LC 500 just a $100k jazzed up Toyota? Is an Acura NSX just a $170k Honda? An Audi RS7 a 130k VW? Why is it that only Genesis is a jazzed up Hyundai?

That GV80 is just a piece of art !!
As a current 23 GV70 owner I'm looking forward to getting this coupe in probably that same color. Greatjob doing this review guys. 👍🏾

Hyundai trying to give their drivers the D wheel
The car itself as it stands is a scenery.
This is a very nice Genesis love how Hyundai has this luxury version and looks very nice love the family reviews
Looks fantastic. I’d even say it has far too much bright exterior trim and it still looks fantastic.
Interior colors sponsored by Delta!
The vehicle is so good but Genesis really needs dedicated showroom and sales teams and not the same ones shared across all of Hyundai.
1:10 Just started the video and I'm already having my jar dropping 😂😂
I hate all these silly car companies calling these SUVs coupe. A coupe by definition is a two door. Not four door SUV. Duh
exactly it has 5 doors
Someone understands what a real coupe is lol
The French word Coupe means to slope.
@ this is a 5 door raised wagon crossover. They made a Hyundai Genesis coupe before with 2 doors

Who cares about fuel economy at this point?
No one in their right mind would run head first to a luxury car dealer for fuel economy
1:38 this seems like an odd comment. There’s a hidden phone compartment - wouldn’t that lead to forgetting the phone more often in the car?

My Ioniq Hybrid has a D shaped wheel, I experience the D on a daily basis.
It definitely needs a rear wiper. Otherwise, it looks very nice.
It’s nice but worth about $65K in my opinion. These SUVs are costing way more than the average American make to afford it.🎉
