People still talk negatively about this brand. What I say to them is go see one in person. It looks better and gives you a feeling of detail that you can't get watching in HDR 4K on a big screen. Then drive one, just drive one, and then come back and talk that negative crap. You may not be persuaded to buy one, but I bet you quit all that negative chat about it. Watch what I tell you. My only gripe about this brand and their cars is that the license plate has to sit in front of the grill. The placement of the license plate just about kills the front looks of Genesis cars.
I test drove the car and placed a deposit on it. Estimated delivery time is December. There is no German luxury brand dealership in the province I live in Canada, so I have to go to the neighbouring province anyway. To me I am indifferent about the car brand. The monthly lease payment is even less than a fully loaded GLC coupe keeping all lease term variables similar. Plus, Genesis GV80 coupe provides a set of winter tires and rims. Cannot say no to that. Back to the car, I can feel the weight of the car once I get in it but I also feel endless power. The sound insulation is awesome. The chassis is also refined. The exterior looks beautiful. There is nothing I dislike about the car except for the fuel efficiency. But I can care less about the fuel expenses when the overall package of the car is compelling.
As a Genesis G80 Sport owner, I can’t wait to add the GV80 Coupe’ to the family! I’ve had no issues, no bad dealership experience, really inexpensive maintenance (it costs almost $200 for an oil change on my Audi A6 and just $56 on my Genny), and it turns heads everywhere I go. Only gripe is the fuel economy as it’s low in comparison to its competitors but I’ll still choose my Genny any day! I’ve owned Infiniti & BMW as well but will choose my Genny over them easily. The Audi will be traded for the Coupe’ 😂 If you’re on the fence, just go to a Genesis dealership (preferably a standalone if possible) and experience for yourself. Great video Sam! I just recently traded in my 2019 Volvo S60 this year in hopes of getting something sportier in the segment with a V6 before they become harder to get. I looked at the S4/S5, C43, M340i, and G70. I almost got the S4/S5 but backed out because I realized I cared about having some of the higher optioned items that were on the Prestige package and not the Premium Plus which would’ve made the lease price atrocious. The C43 was cool but also barely optioned and it has zero business being as bad as it is on fuel economy with that smaller engine. It was also VERY rough around town. The M340i was nearly perfect but I couldn’t justify that pride premium over the G70. I definitely understand that the G70 is an older model that lacks some things modern cars do like the full digital dash here in the USA, ambient lighting etc. But the 2024 added some little updates here and there that still elevated the car a bit in my eyes like a stitched steering wheel and metal knobs on the fur no signal stocks etc. I took my car in to get a recall handled and was worried about getting the spotty Genesis service I’ve read so much about. At least my local dealer treated me right. They have a standalone Genesis showroom but are a large local franchise that also owns BMW, Cadillac, Bentley, Bugatti, as well as MINI and Hyundai within the same vicinity. I truly wish the G70 was being kept around as it would look fantastic with some of these updates from the G80! Moral of the story, don’t sleep on Genesis!
