So good to see your happy face and the “WHAT?, that’s so beautiful and huge! “Holy cow!” “Why is it so big?” LOL. This is what birthdays should be. So happy for you! I wish you the happiest birthday, but I guess you already got it 😃.
I've had a pretty decent experience with The Green Escape so far. The plants I've received from them have been in good health. Some minor shipping damage on the more "bladey" shaped leaves like my Dark Lord but it's a healthy plant. They're all doing well!
Girllll I’ve been wanting to order from them cause the prices be so good and the selection of plants they have is amazing! Bonus that they are small so they can fit anywhere lol and watch them grow. 💚
I’ve had excellent luck with them, as well. And twice I’ve ordered and then needed to ask them to hold shipping and they had absolutely zero problems with that. Truly excellent customer service.
I love the Bisma Platinum. That's a good size too for GreenEscape especially for that price. They can be finicky and prone to rot, but mine is loving pon. I've been looking at a few more of their plants as well. I'm in New England though so trying to wait until temperatures are back above freezing. It's not easy, I'm so impatient. 😂
I love these types of videos.😍 Your videos always make me happy. 🥰I have pinguiculas and they are very easy to take care of. The care I take with them is: -I always water from below, I put water on a plate and leave it. - Distilled or rainwater and I never fertilize (carnivores should not be fertilized). -I leave them on the windowsill (facing southwest). Mine have already bloomed and it was so beautiful. Furthermore, they catch all the fungus gnats.
There’s nothing like being outside in the Savannah weather hearing the song birds we’re literally so lucky we still have so much wildlife, as a conservationist it makes me happy :)
Beautiful plants. I have ordered from them before and plan to make another purchase in the future. I was very happy with their customer service and the way the plants were packaged. Just a great experience.
I was star struck this evening! It was awesome to see my favorite UA-camr!!!!!!!!! I love your videos! Always very informative and you’re such a beautiful human being!!!!! Thanks for bringing the best planty content EVERRRRRRR!!!!!!
That gigas is BEAUTIFUL. It’s one I have in my plant wishlist. Definitely will be ordering from TheGreenEscape come spring! So many great plants to choose from! Great haul!!
I got pings from them and they are all thriving! Take it out of the plug gently and transfer to moss. They like to be sitting in a little water constantly so I have them in a little sauce bowl from ikea. Distilled water only!
I love pings! The higher the light the more color. Only distilled water or it will die a slow death. No fertilizer in the soil. Some people do sphagnum moss. I did a cactus like mix with added sand for mind. I keep mine in a small dish of distilled water kind of like a swamp.
Beautiful plants but the silver blush looks like a regural crystalinum to me, at least mine was much more silvery as a baby plant. Also dont worry about the pinguicula's leaves, it will grow new ones that will cover them in no time. I grow mine in a sphagnum+soil mix (anything with higher water retension), the most important thing is not to overfertilize. Carnivorous plants naturally live in very nutrient poor soil, that's why they became carnivorous in the first place 😊
I grow my pings in a mix of chopped sphagnum, perlite, vermiculite, and silica sand, and keep a little distilled water in the bottom of their cover pots. High light will encourage the pink leaves.
Finally a good one! 🎉 I’ve been wanting a gigas! They are like a micans on steroids/ a more chill seeming melano. So gorgeous. I believe Fern (@wildfern) has said that pings don’t ship well but bounce back quickly. So hopefully that little dude will be doing great soon.
Pings will do great in sphagnum moss, peat+perlite, on large pumice or larva rocks. Need bright light and rain or distilled water only. They will take care of gnats in no time.
From what I know pings can get more colour with a lot of light, but not all varieties do though (straight green ones don't get "sunstressed" this way). Also mine have been going dormant since the beginning of winter (colder temp and less light will do that), so they produces smaller leaves in a "rosette" shape. They should start growing bigger leaves more quickly in the spring and summer. What's great with pings is that even if they don't have roots, you just lay them on top of some moss or light soil and they will root very easily. Just make sure to keep the substrate moist at all times. Personnally I use rain water or sometimes tap water and they're doing fine. Take care!
I love the green escape I order from there twice a month I’m addict 😊 ❤ they never disappoint me and if any damage which is very rare they will refund with out any problems ❤
Hi Melissa! Keep a close eye on the Bisma if you put it in Pon, mine hated it even in the cabinet. I struggled with it for about a year before finally moving it to soil, she's doing so much better. Hopefully you have better luck with yours... I much prefer Alocasia in semi hydro. I also got mine from TGE (love them!). Thank you for sharing your new beauties!
I bought little plugs of anthurium vitarifolium and veitchii from The Green Escape, similar to your pinguicula. I wish (after acclimating it) I would have removed the growing media surrounding them before I potted them up. I accidentally knocked over the veitchii a few weeks ago. The roots had grown but had not expanded beyond that little plug. That is my advice for you, take it as you wish. I wish plant sellers would give more advice on what to do with new plants. Especially, if they come only with roots, at least telling us the media it was grown in so I know how to pot it up initially. I’d prefer to start it in a media it is used to while it gets established.
Great haul! I think the silver will come out more as the plant matures and enters its cataphyll phase. Although the leaves are huge the root system isn’t so maybe it needs more time
Lovely plants Melissa...love the Bisma especially! It was relieving to see that you got healthy specimens and a decent size too👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I look forward to the update vid on these, particularly the Ping. It looks so pretty with the pink tinge on the leaves. Happy nurturing 😻
Fun 🤩 I just ordered from them as well at the beginning of January. I had ordered a anthurium red gunsal but they emailed me that they were sold out so I went with the forgetii. I can’t wait for this order 7 mostly anthuriums and a Philo Columbia
It gets pink with sun stressing put it under your grow light. And don’t put it in soil. Just spaghum moss for now with a water tray under it let it sit in water. You need a ping mix.
I have a ping and I’m so bad with carnivorous plants, but the ping has been okay for me! I have heard Fern say that the pink comes with sun stressing! I haven’t experimented with this, so can’t confirm from experience.
I just got the platinum at Lowe's 2 weeks ago. Urban jungle 16.00. It's so pretty. I had it in water for 2 weeks to make sure it developed good water roots and just put into pon 3 days ago.
I think I’ve ordered from the green escape before but mine were philodendrons gorgeous none the less and I was very happy i definitely followed them on Etsy im glad I’m the only one who orders from etsy
You’ll need to sun stress your ping to get the pink color. Also yeah no to soil. Peat/perlite is good or even moss. But regular potting soil will likely kill it
Pings are kinda like succulents so it should recover just fine! Besides the broken parts of course😂 I have two in no drainage, one in just sphag moss and one in pumice that’s on top of sphag moss since I’ve seen people just grow them on rocks before. I prefer the latter because it helps to keep the moss moist longer
I'm very happy you had such a good experience with The Green Escape! Like you, I received plants from them that didn't look like the photo they were advertising. I emailed them to ask if perhaps the appearance would change as the plants matured, but never received a reply. So I'm not sure whether I was even sent the correct plants. I won't be ordering from them again, sadly. 😔
They are definitely using some random stock photos with some of them. I noticed that last time and recognized some photos from insta 😬 I don't think that is appropriate and they should just have photos of what they are actually selling.
I'm SO excited you finally got a Gigas! 🎉 In my experience it takes a while to "get going" but once it does it pops out a new and bigger leaf every 2 weeks 😊 and it's waaay easier than drama queen Melanochrysum 😅
I love Green Escape plants. I've never had an issue. I've had four pings and killed them all so I don't know the secret to keeping them alive. I wish I did. Thank you for the video
I have been ordering from them getting the small pulls. My dreams get to come true in small delicious bites 🥰. It’s nice to see you happy with your purchases 🎉 that ping is everything 💯‼️
Anthurium in the photo is a different plant, looks like silver blush. I’d check with the seller for advertising photo of a different anthurium. Anthurium silver blush is more expensive.
Oh, sweet! :) Their bigger plants are def better than the plugs, in my experience - and their prices on larger plants can be pretty decent as well. That gigas is gonna be so pretty when you get it on a moss pole and start sizing it up, wow! The plants are so pretty this time! :D That alocasia is gorgeous, alocasia and anthurium are my jam recently, and I want a ping or two but I am too scared that I will not be able to care for them correctly, lol. Btw, in case you have not seen it, the liquidirt channel here on YT have a video titled 'killing spider mites and aphids' where they give a recipe for a plant spray that is non toxic and safe to get on your skin/breathe in/safe for being around pets, in case you would like to try it. In my experience it really does kill the hell out of spider mites lol and a friend of mine who I recommended it to said it killed the hell out of the thrips he was dealing with as well. :) I am not sure how you deal with thrips and whatnot, but I just thought I'd mention it since you have the cats and I know you had that bad experience with your recent unboxing. Happy birthday month, btw!
Thank you! Super impressed with the 4 inch pots! Hmm I’ll have to check that out! Very curious about the spray. I usually use beneficial insects or Castile soap.
@@plantsbymelissa the recipe is actually partly castile soap, peppermint and tea tree castile soaps to be specific, and some water, rubbing alcohol and peroxide :) it smells great and it works well!
Luna is so typical of cats. She wants to be near you but most of the time she sits with her back to you or looks the other way. They are so independent. You don’t own a cat, they own you. Donna
Is nice you finally got a good plant mail 😊. For a minute there i thought that was an Alocasia Dragons Breath. That plant is also a beautiful one. I have given up on this type of plants cause there leaf stems dropping down. And like there soil moist. I am not into self watering pots. You live near a lake? In the country side? I be terrified of anything coming out.
i absolutely love the green escape, they are awesome and their communication is excellent! ive ordered from them twice now. Im also waiting on plants from Canopy Plant Co. at the moment. Theyre based in New Orleans. Have you gotten plants from them yet?
I really have to wonder if Green Escape is only proactive about issues when the reviewer has a following. They sent me an alocasia ninja with mealies last year and basically just said “sounds like you know what you’re doing with the treatment” and never offered a refund or or took responsibility for the mealies. (I had photos of them down in the sheaths of the plants the day the plant was delivered.~_~ They just insisted that they treat all of their plants and that they carefully inspect them before they leave the greenhouse). I’ve only recently completely rid the plant of the pests and now all of the leaves that it came with are gone. It just pushed one out and seems to be doing okay. They’ve also sent several starter plants that were barely rooted and may as well have been cuttings. I don’t think I can trust them with my experiences being so hit or miss. I’m glad that your experience has been good, overall, though.
It was my first time ordering 4 inch pots and everything else has been little plugs and some with barely any roots. I don't order as plantsbymelissa because I never want any special treatment with what people send to me. Pests are not okay and finding mealies like that they should have refunded you. People tell me their customer service is really good from my previous unboxings so I'm sorry that happened to you.
@@plantsbymelissa I gotcha. Yeah, the ninja that I ordered was a 4 inch. Most of my starter plugs were fine, save for a few rotted ones. I hate that they are on my "no go" list, but I'm glad that most people are having good experiences. Sounds like I just got really unlucky.
It's crazy to me that some people casually see alligators in their back yard. If I ever saw one in the wild I'd never shut up about it lol. Anyways, beautiful plants!
Aw they spoiled you 😊 beautiful ! I've always liked the plants that I've ordered from them but they always send the most microscopic little baby plants
I don't order as plantsbymelissa because I don't want special treatment 😊 and it was my first time ordering 4 inch pots so I was definitely impressed with them. Everything else has been little plugs in my previous videos
i felt so bad for you when you were going thru the box that had thrips. I kid you not one time i opened a plant box and a lizard jumped out! it ended up being a whole thing but I was so happy to be outside when it happened.
Okay but this outside unboxing was such a vibe with the birds in the background. Seemed so cozy and natural I loved it 🥰
Thank you so much 🤗
I love the green escape. I've gotten most of my collection from them. 🥰 They make it so affordable to get into collecting. ♥️
Same! I like starting from small plants too and watching them mature ❤ I’ve done a few orders from the green escape and I love my plants from them!
I have a question are most plants in their shop tc ?
So good to see your happy face and the “WHAT?, that’s so beautiful and huge! “Holy cow!” “Why is it so big?” LOL. This is what birthdays should be. So happy for you! I wish you the happiest birthday, but I guess you already got it 😃.

I know right...that was the greatest, and I can't say I blame her. I'm dealing with thrips right now
I'm so sorry Dora 😞
I love the song birds in the background of your unboxing... Here in 🇨🇦 Canada we are months from having those birds back again. 🐦 🐦⬛
I love hearing them too! ☺️🫶🏻
100% agree!!! 🇨🇦
I love the sound of the birds singing❤🦜🕊️🐦

I’ve always had a perfect experience with Green Escape as well…do it! You’ll be so glad you did!
The green and scape really wraps the plants up very well.

I have a huge Alocasia Platinum. They are striking! So, so happy that you are happy, again, after the thrip episode!💜
Thank you!!
So excited for you. I just placed an order with them for the first time so that's super encouraging. Can't wait to see how they do.
Aww yay!! That’s so exciting!! I hope you have the best plant mail!! 💕

Thanks for letting me know! 🙏
I just got my first ping, too! I don't have any advice yet, but I'm excited! I do know that the pink color comes from sun/light stress.
I bought little plugs of anthurium vitarifolium and veitchii from The Green Escape, similar to your pinguicula. I received 4 new plants from The Green Escape this week and I was super excited!!! They are my favorite Etsy plant shop!! 😊
Aw yay!! Congrats on your new plant babies!! 🥰🫶🏻
That one is surprising how big it is. Maybe as the leaves enlarge the venation will enlarge.
Great haul! I think the silver will come out more as the plant matures and enters its cataphyll phase. Although the leaves are huge the root system isn’t so maybe it needs more time
That's my favorite plant shop! I just got a big Alocasia order from them. I've always gotten perfect plants from them and they all thrived perfectly!
Thank you Connie!!
I've seen in the past that anthurium silver blush is less silvery as a baby plant so yeah I guess it's going to change overtime, but keep us updated.
The anthurium foliage is huge for such a small plug! That's awesome.
Fun 🤩 I just ordered from them as well at the beginning of January. I had ordered a anthurium red gunsal but they emailed me that they were sold out so I went with the forgetii. I can’t wait for this order 7 mostly anthuriums and a Philo Columbia

So good to see a healthy, beautiful plant haul and your sweet, happy face 😊 Happy birthday Melissa, have a great day! 🎉🪷💖
Thank you so much Katie! I appreciate it!! 🥰
I haven’t experimented with this, so can’t confirm from experience.
a few others here said that about the pink! I'll have to sunstress it!

Congrats on that find!! 🥰 I would have snagged it for sure haha. I hope it grows well for you!!

Glad see you happy grtzzz 🤩
It's crazy to me that some people casually see alligators in their back yard. If I ever saw one in the wild I'd never shut up about it lol. Anyways, beautiful plants!
haha we were nervous about them at first! They usually don't come up out of the water but I just avoid getting super close down there.
I’ve always been super happy with the plugs I have gotten at that shop ❤ and I get mine sent to Washington state! 🌱
i have bought from them also and love it !!!!!!!!
Great video Melissa❤. Love the plants and Luna . I hope you have a very happy birthday! 🎉🎊🎉❤️
Thank you so much!! 🥰💖
Great Haul!!! I especially love the Alocasia :-)
i felt so bad for you when you were going thru the box that had thrips. I kid you not one time i opened a plant box and a lizard jumped out! it ended up being a whole thing but I was so happy to be outside when it happened.
Oh my gosh 😂 it was probably hiding in the plant 😭 I would have screamed for sure! Glad you were outside too!
