    I think one of the main reasons I love watching you is because everything is so clean and uniform. I know you’ve mentioned everything being super white before, but it’s really easy on the eyes! No dirt all over, no random colored pots, alll cohesive & it really makes watching you more enjoyable!

      I feel the same way about the white or clear pots she has. I have all my plants in white except for ones I haven’t re-potted them after bringing them home.

      @@lisaanglim9588same, white, clear….or terracotta. I love the look of all terracotta. But it’s not feasible for all plants. But I still love to use them. Many are now Cover pots. I have gotten rid of all the colorful or printed ones. It’s just too much when you start getting into the hundreds of plants. I love me a beautiful pot, but not for me anymore. I’d rather have the plant and a white pot!! Haha. It really just is so much more calming, isn’t it.

    If others have not posted, your purple flowering tree is a Melastoma, possibly a variety of Melastoma candidum. It could be a hybrid. It is a vigorous tropical garden subject.

    • @EuroTravChannel
      @EuroTravChannel 3 місяці тому +1

      There is a closely related very similar genus Tibouchina in the family Melastomataceae. Tibouchina has squared stems. Melastoma has round stems. Now I look closely at your video, it appears the stem is squared. Tibouchina grows much larger but also has smallish varieties. These plants can cross within the family.

But you did a great job of showing plants that haven't done well for you, and that it's OK to just cut your losses and focus on the wins. Life Lessons. Just wanted to share, for an anthurium which has reached cataphyll stage (mature enough to produce inflos), new emergent (leaf) will come out from the cataphyll, whereas an inflo will come out from the petiole(s). For an anthurium which is not mature enough to produce inflos, the emergents will typically emerge from the petioles.

It’s thriving in my room without extra humidity here in GA. Sometimes it’s the exact plant that doesn’t want to grow and not your care or environment.

    I had to quit using cal-mag because when I added it to my mix of silica, superthrive and dyna gro foliage pro - I lost 6 plants from burn (more like fried 🤦‍♀️🤣) I should have paid attention that the dyna grow already had the same amount of cal-mag as what I bought and added. Hi Melissa, I commented on an earlier video before that your mint looks more like a white monster. The newer leaves being more green definitely makes it a white monster, that's the exact trait of a white monster, where subsequent growth gets more green. You need to propogate it and the new leaf will be white again ☺️

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  3 місяці тому

      Unless you get a white monstera from kunzo himself or from someone who can prove that they did, it's a NOID mint. White monster is a specific cultivar name while mint just refers to the overall variegation coloration.

    • @chemerxx
      @chemerxx 3 місяці тому

      @@plantsbymelissaYeah with TC now it's v challenging to say whether its a Kunzo line. You may take it more of a suggestion on how to get the variegation back ☺️ If you buy a similar noid mint with similar trait again it's gonna be the same problem, where new leaves eventually come out v green

      I use the better gro brand orchid moss. I usually get it at my local big box stores but Amazon has it too. My poles dry out alllll the time 😅

      @plantsbymelissa oh, that's not good, but good to know. I thought I was doing something different 😅 . Yes, a lot of work, but every other day, I spray/mist the moss. Do you mix your own medium? If so what do you use and what's the ratio? I purchased my chunky blend from etsy but it is t a little pricey I am planning on mixing mine. Thank you for sharing everything it is really helpful.

    Melissa, I noticed a few of your alocasias have stem support. My elephant ears are growing tall and outwards.
    While I enjoy the way it looks; I'm wondering if that'll be a problem if I don't provide steam support? 🤔

      I’ve been to the restaurant downtown but haven’t actually met her 😂 you don’t have to provide support but it helps keep them from flopping over too much as they grow bigger leaves. I’ve snapped some before 🫣

    When I water my monstera it has guttitation. Water seeps out of the leaves. It’s like my plant is crying. Some one explain Ed that it’s taking up too much water and will expel the excess water. So I skipped watering it one week. When I watered it the second week it didn’t do it. So I need to water it less.

    Alocasia Queen please help....My alocasia pink dragon has done phenomenal until recently I've had her for about 3 years with no issues not one and now she is in turmoil...I checked her roots and even though she was still putting out new leaves her roots were shot...I removed her from soil and chopped all of the bad roots...not many was left...I put her into perlite to aid in her recovery but one of the leaves that was already turning yellow now the stem is really shriveled....do I just cut it off or can it be saved? Help please...

    I chopped my Pink Princess to try and get better variegation. I’ve had them in water for over a month and NOTHING. Does anyone know if they are slow to root? Anything I can do to help? They have been in my south facing window seal. The window has a dark film to lower the UV. But it’s still bright light. I moved them over under a grow light to see if that would be any better. Do they just root slowly? Any thoughts or ideas? I’ve love to hear some. Thanks!!

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  3 місяці тому +1

      I usually get roots in I’d say 3-4ish weeks. I water prop or use stratum but keep them under light and you should get some to grow in. Sometimes they don’t root until they push new growth.
