I feel the same way about the white or clear pots she has. I have all my plants in white except for ones I haven’t re-potted them after bringing them home.
@@lisaanglim9588same, white, clear….or terracotta. I love the look of all terracotta. But it’s not feasible for all plants. But I still love to use them. Many are now Cover pots. Hi Melissa! Luna is so precious, she loves you so much❤ I truly enjoyed seeing your outdoor space. You have some beautiful plants outside too, and that tree that is flowering is so pretty. TFS ❤
I love a melanocrysum so much and I was thinking the same after giving up with the first plant. Later I bought it again and it was completely different experience. It’s thriving in my room without extra humidity here in GA. Sometimes it’s the exact plant that doesn’t want to grow and not your care or environment.
I would just like to say I have been watching a lot of your videos. I’m kind of new to the plant hobby your videos are so excellently done and really appreciate the time that you take to making them thank you so much.
I love your collection. I wish I had the space and light for more plants. I know in one of your last videos you talked about how you needed to do so much, but felt like you had to film it all. You absolutely don't have to film it all. I wouldn't mind watching you do your plant chores with just some chill music. No talking, just you concentrating on getting caught up on all your replants, chops, props, whatever.
Such stunning plant❤️ I am so jealous🤣 I had to quit using cal-mag because when I added it to my mix of silica, superthrive and dyna gro foliage pro - I lost 6 plants from burn (more like fried 🤦♀️🤣) I should have paid attention that the dyna grow already had the same amount of cal-mag as what I bought and added. I wanted to cry when my beautiful spider plant and maranta’s bit the dust but I was able to salvage something from all the plants though so, all is well
Sorry to hear that! I had started using a little more recently but definitely going to back off some. I think the little extra I was giving definitely caused some burning 🥲
@@plantsbymelissa honey, do your normal repotting off camera. It is ok not to share. You can show us later how much you progressed. No pressure. It is not fun to us if it is not fun for you. ❤❤❤
Hi Melissa, I commented on an earlier video before that your mint looks more like a white monster. The newer leaves being more green definitely makes it a white monster, that's the exact trait of a white monster, where subsequent growth gets more green. @@plantsbymelissaYeah with TC now it's v challenging to say whether its a Kunzo line. You may take it more of a suggestion on how to get the variegation back ☺️ If you buy a similar noid mint with similar trait again it's gonna be the same problem, where new leaves eventually come out v green

Hi Melissa, I love your plants that you have on moss poles and it inspired me to start trying out moss poles myself. I know you’ve been having a hard time with the moss poles and was wondering if you ever thought of setting up some kind of drip irrigation to help keep them moist. It would definitely save you a lot of time! I haven’t tried it myself, but if I get any more poles I’m going to need to😅
Throughly enjoyed this video. Haven't purchased any plants lately, it has been way to hot here in Az, waiting for the weather to get below 100, probably won't be until October .keep up the good work with your videos and your plant shop 😊
You can grow a Melano in moss. I did it and sold a gorgeous one in a moss pole and now I have the top grow of my bigger one that I airlayered w/ moss planted in soil. Fingers crossed! Also have two more growing in moss and a moss pole in the moss. Sometimes new the leaves get sticked and break at the beginning but if you are diligent and spray them before they unfurl that shouldn’t happen.
I was just finishing watching this video today. And you’re in the bathroom toward the end. And I’m hearing meowing. And I’m looking all around to see which one of mine is calling me. lol Then yours popped up on the bathtub so I could see her. Was that Luna?
50:56 I would def make sure those babies aren’t submerged in the water for tooooo much longer, only the roots! I’ve had cuttings rot that way when putting multiple in a vessel at once and didn’t notice the new growth in time!
Hi Melissa! My tortum looks like yours at the moment. My variegated vittarifolium is teeny tiny and won’t grow and I’ve had it for a couple of years. I put it in tree fern fibre because it has been in every other substrate known to man haha. Like you, I haven’t given up on them yet, but that may soon change if I need more room. ❤ how all of your other plants look. Your plant room is so lush! Happy Anniversary and take care!

Yeah, I notice it looking at all the Monstera mint on store or etsy is a lot of tissues culture. I'm thinking of buying one soon. But I'm going for the big porm of Monstera mint & no tissue culture here. I think they don't do as well or don't grow as fast as the big ones. They do have two types of sizes of Monstera. Good luck. But it is still beautiful & lots of roots wow. The one I was looking at at etsy is 250 ugh. Lol has to be Christmas time 😅 but is the big size & no tissue culture either. I'm sure they will have lots more out their when Christmas comes. 😅❤

I have some plants coming today that have been sent around the country by the post office 😢 I don't have much hope that they will be healthy when they get here. One of them is a clarinervium. I decided to try and raise another anthurium since I have figured out how to keep calatheas alive and my alocasias are still alive after a week 😱😊😅
aw I hope they arrive to you okay 🥹 If they're packaged well they should do okay if they're delayed but I know the weather is really hot in some areas. Crossing my fingers for you! 🤞
It’s mostly alocasia in pon but I do have a lot of others. Pon is easier care for me and the plants really seem to love it. If I have trouble growing it in soil I’ll try pon out.
In the middle of watching your video. Melissa, I have the Milsbo cabinet with acrylic shelves, I love them BUT, they scratch so easy. I am so careful and picky, but they are still really scratching. Just a warning. I am thinking about going back to the glass because of the scratches. Just not too happy with the scratches.
@@plantsbymelissa I did not believe mine would scratch because they are all baby hoyas in smooth plastic pots from Ikea and Amazon. There are no ceramic or terra cotta pots. But they started showing scratches immediately (and I mean within a day). I will probably take my acrylic shelves to a glass cutter and have glass shelves cut.
Thank you!! It’s so unique 😍 I could propagate by dividing down the road but I would probably just try to self pollinate and grow out any seeds I get if it takes.
Powdery mildew 😱 that got on my sedum pork and beans. I dont really know how it got it but i think it came from another plant i had from Walmart. They put them outside where they are drowning and it probably developed it after that. I caught it in time on the sedum and one other succulent though. Ive never seen it on my tropical plants.
Amazon! They’re the perfect fit for the milsbo. You need L brackets to attach them on. I should have a tutorial in my ikea playlist when I put it together. Here’s the shelves: www.amazon.com/dp/B000JF7WYS?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmeli0992-20&creativeASIN=B000JF7WYS&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2CXDQMX1UIXI&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_m_asin
Maybe you could grow your monstera mint in pon. She doesn’t look super happy in there… And couldn’t you plant the bird of paradise on the garden and save it? Maybe next to the variegated banana or in between the elephant ears outside. Could be worth giving it a try. It’s such a pity to leave it to rot…
Very true though it might not do well once the colder weather gets here. I’ll have to dump it out here soon. The last one I had got very angry I messed with it 🥲 yeah… I’m thinking about propagating the mint and doing the top cutting in pon 😅
This video was not long at all. It actually was short to me😊 1:11 I have a question for you. Do you rinse your stratum? Don’t know if I spelled that correctly😊
@plantsbymelissa oh, that's not good, but good to know. I thought I was doing something different 😅 . Yes, a lot of work, but every other day, I spray/mist the moss. Do you mix your own medium? If so what do you use and what's the ratio? I purchased my chunky blend from etsy but it is t a little pricey I am planning on mixing mine. Thank you for sharing everything it is really helpful.
Melissa, I noticed a few of your alocasias have stem support. My elephant ears are growing tall and outwards. While I enjoy the way it looks; I'm wondering if that'll be a problem if I don't provide steam support? 🤔
I’ve been to the restaurant downtown but haven’t actually met her 😂 you don’t have to provide support but it helps keep them from flopping over too much as they grow bigger leaves. I’ve snapped some before 🫣
When I water my monstera it has guttitation. Water seeps out of the leaves. It’s like my plant is crying. Some one explain Ed that it’s taking up too much water and will expel the excess water. So I skipped watering it one week. When I watered it the second week it didn’t do it. So I need to water it less.
Greetings! Does anyone know how to spell the pedatum (Mickey Mouse) looking plant at 4:00, please? 🙏🏾 It's soooooo gorgeous! I want to research it and purchase one of I can find one. Give thanks!
How do you keep your ring of fire from yellowing and dropping lower leaves? I water when mine is about 90% and the roots look so healthy, but the lower leaves look awful and it’s so scraggly :(
Alocasia Queen please help....My alocasia pink dragon has done phenomenal until recently I've had her for about 3 years with no issues not one and now she is in turmoil...I checked her roots and even though she was still putting out new leaves her roots were shot...I removed her from soil and chopped all of the bad roots...not many was left...I put her into perlite to aid in her recovery but one of the leaves that was already turning yellow now the stem is really shriveled....do I just cut it off or can it be saved? Help please...
I chopped my Pink Princess to try and get better variegation. I’ve had them in water for over a month and NOTHING. Does anyone know if they are slow to root? Anything I can do to help? They have been in my south facing window seal. The window has a dark film to lower the UV. But it’s still bright light. I moved them over under a grow light to see if that would be any better. Do they just root slowly? Any thoughts or ideas? I’ve love to hear some. Thanks!!
I usually get roots in I’d say 3-4ish weeks. I water prop or use stratum but keep them under light and you should get some to grow in. Sometimes they don’t root until they push new growth.

They’re a lot of work but I love the big leaves. I’m going to maintain and not worry so much about getting huge leaves and feeling like I always have to chop them. I’m very happy with how they are right now. I’m more or less wanting the nodes from the chop for the shop now 😂

Sorry to hear that! 🥲

aw thank you so much for watching!! ❤️
I really like the wire shelves in your cabinet! Where did you get them?
Amazon! They’re the perfect fit for the milsbo. You need L brackets to attach them on. I should have a tutorial in my ikea playlist when I put it together. Here’s the shelves: www.amazon.com/dp/B000JF7WYS?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmeli0992-20&creativeASIN=B000JF7WYS&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2CXDQMX1UIXI&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_m_asin
Maybe you could grow your monstera mint in pon. She doesn’t look super happy in there…
And couldn’t you plant the bird of paradise on the garden and save it? Maybe next to the variegated banana or in between the elephant ears outside. Could be worth giving it a try. It’s such a pity to leave it to rot…
Very true though it might not do well once the colder weather gets here. I’ll have to dump it out here soon. The last one I had got very angry I messed with it 🥲 yeah… I’m thinking about propagating the mint and doing the top cutting in pon 😅
This video was not long at all. It actually was short to me😊 1:11
I have a question for you. Do you rinse your stratum? Don’t know if I spelled that correctly😊
❤️ thanks for watching! Nope, no rinsing - it’s not dusty and it’ll just turn to mush.
Thank you
💚💚💚
Do you have anyone to help you with all the work? Your so clean and your home looks so beautiful as welll.
Thank you! It's just me and hubby here 😁

Hello Melissa a crazy plant enthusiast here too can i ask where do you get your moss and how do you get it always moist.😊
I use the better gro brand orchid moss. I usually get it at my local big box stores but Amazon has it too. My poles dry out alllll the time 😅
@plantsbymelissa oh, that's not good, but good to know.
Where is your store that you’re selling your plants. Please help me. Thank you Melissa. I love your video and all the plants you have.
Hi, here's my website: www.plantsbymelissa.com
The splits are called “lobster claws”.
Hello new subscriber here can you please tell me what size pots you use for your moss poles? Thank you very much great content. 👊🏻
Thank you! I usually use the 6 inch repot me brand clear pots with the ikea planters. They’re a perfect fit 😁
@@plantsbymelissa thank you 🙏
Does silica help with pests? I didn't know that? I wish it would help with fungus gnats.
Melissa, I noticed a few of your alocasias have stem support. My elephant ears are growing tall and outwards.
While I enjoy the way it looks; I'm wondering if that'll be a problem if I don't provide steam support? 🤔
Also, I noticed you're in Savannah Georgia... Have you ever seen Paula Deen!? 😀😀
I’ve been to the restaurant downtown but haven’t actually met her 😂 you don’t have to provide support but it helps keep them from flopping over too much as they grow bigger leaves. I’ve snapped some before 🫣
@@plantsbymelissa Got it! Appreciate you, Melissa!
Have you counted your plants? Just curious what the number is now.
Not sure now 😂 I’ve gotten so many new ones recently! Probably closer to 275. The shop plants alone are probably 300-400 🫣
@@plantsbymelissa idk how you keep track, especially with soil plants. That’s a full time job
It’s a lot of work 😅 pon has definitely made watering easier for me!
When I water my monstera it has guttitation. Water seeps out of the leaves. It’s like my plant is crying. Some one explain Ed that it’s taking up too much water and will expel the excess water. So I skipped watering it one week. When I watered it the second week it didn’t do it. So I need to water it less.
❤
❤️🥰🌿
Greetings! Does anyone know how to spell the pedatum (Mickey Mouse) looking plant at 4:00, please? 🙏🏾 It's soooooo gorgeous! I want to research it and purchase one of I can find one. Give thanks!
I can’t find yours store. That shows your plants for sale.
How do you keep your ring of fire from yellowing and dropping lower leaves? I water when mine is about 90% and the roots look so healthy, but the lower leaves look awful and it’s so scraggly :(
Are you feeding well?
@@plantsbymelissa thank you soooo much!

I just subscribed to you/help me grow a RED Maranta plant for mothers day from my son/
Hi Florence! Thanks for subbing. I unfortunately don’t do 1:1 plant help. I have a couple maranta care videos on my channel under the maranta playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLYt1-9zY5oEy4nH-O9kLWGO85kVh0L-Mf.html&si=9TkATOWVDetKQDjT
Plant care is different for everyone as we all have different routines and environments 🙏🏼
How much for her

Are you kind of over moss poles? I feel like I am…
They’re a lot of work but I love the big leaves. I’m going to maintain and not worry so much about getting huge leaves and feeling like I always have to chop them. I’m very happy with how they are right now. I’m more or less wanting the nodes from the chop for the shop now 😂
I figured out who you sound like, Dakota Johnson.
