I watched the video 3 times and still dont know which one to pick. I also find the am8 to sounds richer, but the shock mount and build quality from the k688 is just great. I have a sit-stand desk and i think the k688 in combination with a boom arm ist the best choise to mitigate potential wobbeling in the standin position, even though it costs 10€ more for slightly worse audio.

Right? )) The first one sounds detailed, balanced, quite realistic as it should bee and second one sounds non-natural (without heights and lows, like through the pillow), compressed and overpowered (sounds like a horn, but not like the humans voice), like from the barrel and makes horrible pressure to my ears (as all podcast on absolutely all radio stations for example and I hate it, but most peoples loves it, I don't know why). Definitely AM8 is the winner! Thank you Sir for this comparison!
@@PaanDuh the k688 has better noise rejection. However it sounds like you need a soundproof booth 🤣. Either is good. You can just apply some noise cancellation with OBS with any mic really.

@@yehorkaa kind of depends what you’re hoping to gain. While they both do sound better in xlr, do you need the use of xlr? In usb there will be negligible differences. The k669b may even have more pick up as a condenser mic.
These two models have similarities with the K669B, so it's more recommended to try out the latest Tank3, which is quite different from these three. But if you don't like the rather bright sound of the Tank3, then it won't be bad to stick with the K669B until you actually find something with the audio that grows on you.

I think the AM8 sounds better in usb. The k688 has a little more grunge to it. Not bad if that’s the sound you prefer. Either way both are solid choices.

Thanks! I really don't do much to these mics to make them sound this way. AM8 in XLR is really good. I do have a 3.0 usb cable. Try that out and let us know.

whenever I plug the mic in it shows that it is recording, but as soon as am going to replay the recording I am not able to hear it, and the only way I can hear the recording is if i unplug the mic from my laptop
Hi Jesse. On your laptop make sure your output/speaker is set to the laptop speakers. Otherwise the mic will try to override output as it has monitoring capabilities and you can listen to output from the laptop through the mic.
oh, thank you. so what have done just now was to troubleshoot input and have realized that the mic was acting as an input source. so the monitoring capabilities you mentioned I wasn't aware so am am able to hear myself and monitor my voice which is pretty awesome. thank you@@TekToyzGaming

Both models have better audio quality on the XLR connection, and most this type of USB/XLR combo mics do. It could be worth using them with an XLR interface to get the best out of them. Anyway, for voice recording, K688 could be a better option for its slightly less overwhelming bass and brighter highs compared to AM8.
Make sure you read the reviews for long term use, it seems to be pretty consistent in not working after a few months. That's why I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on either products
Didn't see the ratings being that bad. average 4.7 stars if we're talking about Amazon. not to mention you can get a 2 year warranty through Fifine. Worse is spending $200 on a mic or more and that defects shortly after. its happened to me with expensive devices for sure.
I hear ya. It is a close race. Need good headphones or speakers to do a good dial-in. But if you’re not really an audiophile then you can get away with something cheaper than these.

Thanks for checking me out. So I use OBS filters for noise suppression. You can turn off rgb by holding the rgb button for a few seconds.

How do I make the audio quality rich like this? I’m using a MacBook Pro.
For most of this demo I’m using xlr to an audio mixer. The audio is richer that way. USB is not as rich.

The K688 is really impressive but it's a shame it has problems with plosives, even with the huge windscreen.
That windscreen is also pretty thin. Might need to double up on windscreens lol.

You can use the nw-100, however these mics don’t require phantom power.

K688 vs am8 vs rode nt mini usb for voice over
The rode mini looks promising but it’s only usb so not really. Gotta go with the am8 on this one in xlr mode.
