It wasn't that they weren't allowed to. The writers CHOSE NOT TO. So it's already confirmed to be a re-imagination, not an adaptation. Frankly, most people who go into this blind will not have any association with the games, and a lot won’t even know it’s related to a game frankly. Those who do, will be fans and that’s a separate problem, whether they enjoy this or not.
Sucks amazon refused to let his actor play the games to better understand his character and truly appreciate the role. Bc it's more important I guess to develop a unique touch to the character or whatever the dumb reasoning was

About the comedic humorous moments from the games. Judging from this trailer, it seems it won't and they're going the serious route. Where there'll be little humorous moments but is more serious focused only. Like its dark and gritty and bloody.
You have not played the original versions of the first 3 games as in the first 3 games Majima was nothing more than a one-eyed psychotic killer who had no qualms about killing innocents if he felt like it heck in 2 and 3 there was a story-chapter where Kiryu had to stop Majima from blowing up a building full of innocent people. It was only after we learned more about his backstory in 4 that Sega turned him into the lovable if still somewhat psychotic character who wouldn't harm a innocent person especially women and children that we now know and love.
Indeed. This is the reason why the main characters don't kill anyone, even if fights in the games are surrealists like a lot of shōnen. Here, in this TV show, I have the bad feeling that this "no killing rule" for Kiryu and Majima (remake) is not present

@@dancinginfernal the directors were story writers but they knew what they wanted to pitch would never get any views, so they bought the rights to a popular IP and threw their story into it and are saying it’s Yakuza. It’s not Yakuza. Stop coping.

@@lumbago.is.serious because they aren’t being faithful to the original story or the characters, and it’s even been stated by the directors themselves. It’s a live action adaptation, you don’t get to “do your own thing.” You need to stay faithful to the story and the characters. These directors obviously had a story in mind but knew it would never make it among everything that’s actually good, so they bought the rights to use a popular IP and are masking their story as Yakuza
@@lumbago.is.serious if you can’t do it right, leave it alone. This is gonna be another borderlands movie.
@@Dr.Gaming98 making a one to one adaptation would be boring as fuck this show will be great too because not only does it use parts from the game but it also add parts you’ll never see in the game which is gonna make it an amazing show
Kiryu does not look masculine enough. It looks like they pulled him out of anime convention. 😑😑
There's no muscle man in Asian actors.
Kiryu from wish.
😂😂😂
The live action movie made in 2007 somehow looks better than this.

truly
Didnt the live action film have the advantage of actully being shot in Kabukicho, and not a set of theater square?
A day before shadow generations!!
Apparently this show got the budget of a high school theatre class.
Japanese TV shows never got higher budget like West do. And if you are fans of West TV shows, not until 2011 when Hollywood start to put bigger budget on TV shows. Before that all West TV shows looks like this
будет ахуй если кирюха хотя бы кого-нибудь ваншотнет через тайгер дроп
Мне кажется что обязательно сделают, так как приём каноничен на все времена
Если в боевых сценах, Кирюха не будет хлестать энергетики, то это полный провал
If there's no karaoke or Majima showing up out of nowhere I am not watching this.
It looks really very cheap, it´s a shame, this saga deserved more from Prime.
Cautiously optimistic about this! Hoping they somehow include some of the wackier sides of the series to blend in with the grit
looks good, glad it's not just rehashing the game story beat for beat
Its so good to see shintaro and kiryu being together in this series im looking forward to it
Eh I'm good, you just can't replicate the presence the game characters have. Especially Kiryu. And if this is going to be an original story they could have made a show about Yakuza and kept RGG characters out of it. It would probably receive less criticism for not living up to the standards set by the source material, which I don't if it will or won't but the first impression isn't very good.
Kiryu minus the daily protein shake
When Kiryu said: “I always wanted to be a strong Yakuza, Like A Dragon”, I cried tears of joy because it was peak writing
idk bout this one chief... I can kinda understand haruka not being the central point it seems, but kiryu being centered about strength, majima is looking like a full psycho, where's dojima?.. it gives me bad vibes. Also some of the subs are off for some reason, in this part 0:13 he says: 'you don't anything about this life.... about the yakuza... about being a dragon''
Majima back at his origins... no wholesome chungus Makoto... no Nishitani... oh no... what have they done with my wholesome 100 character...
@@battlerushiromiya3400 majima is only full psycho in first game because he wasnt relevant or fleshed out back then
@@Edwardlloyd1 well yeah, but know with the hindsight of the games (which they actively said they're not going to follow), it feels like a miss opportunity to at least throw some reference
@@tomoe7255 honestly the fact this isnt an adaptation of the first games story is a bit scary to think about in the first place.. the only reason i've finished all of the Yakuza games is because that first game was so interesting
But why though, Haruka was a big part of the story in Yakuza 1 and a big part of Kiryu’s life. And I played Kiwami, not the PS2 Y1, but Dojima wasn’t even in the first game. And without giving spoilers, he shouldn’t be here
I hope the show is good because the games are amazing but I have to say this trailer gives a really weird vibe and it doesn't feel too much like yakuza, but I'm still going to watch it to see how it goes.
I'm not sure if it's possible to reproduce the game experience on a live action, but who knows? Maybe worth to watch.
*Dancing Majima intensifies*
Where's Yong Yeah? He should have been the Director, producer, script writer, cameraman and main character actor.
I don't have any expectation on this series at all if i want to critical in every aspect with the game , so i guess i just take my brain out and treat this series as they borrow the name of RGG character
Jo Amon? 0:14
We really got a Live Action Yakuza Series before GTA 6 💀💀💀
Yakuza is really the people's Champion among Gaming Franchises 🤨
Yakuza better than GTA.
Our little comedian!
Where's harukaaaaa
Hopefully cut altogether.
She was literally forced into Y1's story by the SEGA's higherups back in the day, to "soften the blow" of the otherwise very grim tale. Once you realize this, she really sticks out like a sore thumb as an entity that does not belong there.
@@GugureSux That's false, from the start when they managed to come up with the base idea for the original game, it always was "A girl, a Yakuza, and 10 billion Yen" and everything just came from them developing that idea with one of the rejected ideas for the Yakuza (an eye patch wearing killer) being reused for the original take on Majima.
@@GugureSux why are you lying
Just don't ruined any character and this will be piece of art you heard me sega only fans will watch this 😎🔥
I'm getting Cowboy Beebop vibes. Yeah, the live action one. This ain't it, chef.
I heard they weren’t allowed to play or look at scenes from the games. So that’s a bad sign already
From where did you hear this?
ACTORS, not the rest of the crew
I kinda understand it, there’s a lot of character development throughout the games.
It wasn't that they weren't allowed to. The writers CHOSE NOT TO. So it's already confirmed to be a re-imagination, not an adaptation.
And contrary to what Y0 and LAD7 would let you believe, the original Yakuza from 2005 was pretty much played-straight homage to classic yakuza films, not some whacky lol so randum superhero tale like it is now.
I’m wondering does this follows the story of yakuza 1
No. The makers already told us months ago: they didn't play the games, didn't follow the OG script. They are doing a brand new reimagining of the franchise.
@@GugureSux this isnt entierly true and it seems youre being lowkey dramatic...the director and producers have all played the games, it was rumoured that some of the actors hadnt, but later it was said both majima's and kiryu's actors have played...this was debunked weeks ago

I understand this is suppose to be something that's disconnected from the actual games in terms of its story and tone, but by doing that I feel it'll give the wrong impression as to why people liked the games to begin with
as do most game adaptations. 9 out of 10 times, these adaptations fail at what makes the games good and beloved, story and character wise. Look at butcheeks Masterchief for example.
Bc it's more important I guess to develop a unique touch to the character or whatever the dumb reasoning was
Look I cant go back in time but as someone who only just picked up and is loving Like a Dragon, I am becoming obsessed with the Yakuza(now like a Dragon?) franchise and will enjoy this show in lieu of the older games Ive yet to play!!
Crying shame this isn’t gonna adapt any of the story from the games you’ve played.
i can't wait any longer I MUST SEE THIS NOW!!!
If kiryu doesn’t pull up with a bike in hand I aint pulling up
About the comedic humorous moments from the games. Judging from this trailer, it seems it won't and they're going the serious route. Where there'll be little humorous moments but is more serious focused only. Like its dark and gritty and bloody.
The story of Yakuza without side quest is 100% serious, and they've already said there won't be side quest in the series.
I can’t wait for the 3 episode arc where he learns how to pocket race and sing his hear out
Does that look good to yall fans of the game? It looks cheap and kinda bad to me.
Thank you, let's do this. 🐉🙏🌹 #dragons #yakuza
>Majima using a gun and killing people
Jesus fucking christ how do you mess up his character in a live action adaptation TWICE now?!
Did you ever played Yakuza 1? lmao. Majima was lighting dudes up left and right since the beginning.
only thing that would make this better is if Miike was directing it
OH MY GOOOOOD THAT'S NISHIKIYAMA'S SISTER
OH NOOOOOOOO MANNN
Some things don't need to be in live action
Whoa! Wait, didn't the og creator not like excessive violence?
Indeed. This is the reason why the main characters don't kill anyone, even if fights in the games are surrealists like a lot of shōnen.
Here, in this TV show, I have the bad feeling that this "no killing rule" for Kiryu and Majima (remake) is not present

It’s crazy to think that this series went from almost being dead in the west to being one of SEGA’s biggest game series in the history of the company.
Now if only SEGA were to team up with Sumo Digital again to make a third SEGA All Stars Racing game because I want to see a SEGA crossover game were Kiryu meets Alex Kidd, Nights and Amigo.
@0:53 Wait, SHIBUYAN????? The voice felt so familiar, when I saw his face I jumped out of my seat!
It doesn't look silly enough. My favorite thing about Like a Dragon is how it balances its grim narrative with moments of mundane shenanigans, and without that, it'll be like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the jelly.
1:32, I could be wrong, but i think the guys is Ryoma Takeuchi, the guys who played the main character of the live action super Hero series Kamen Rider Drive. If so then there Is no way i wouldn't watch It, I love every Kamen rider series and I'm currently watching Drive and Fourze.
