      An old joke:
      - a badass cowboy walks into a salun and starts to shoot around (Colt SAA/Frontiersman, checkout the picture).
      An old man in a wheelchair comes over and said.
      - Saw off the frontpost, my boy. It is too big.
      - Why?!
      - Once I was so young and brave as you are, I walked into salun and shoot as you did now. Then some other gentelmen came over, screw my revolver into my butt. So, saw off the frontpost.

      Unless my math is off , 10 Joules = aprox 7.3 ft lb . Considerably less than the average 7 year old child throwing a rock .
      I get it about using what's available , but something like this is worse than nothing at all . The Defender would be deluded into thing that has an actual ( defensive tool) and be in for a rude awakening . An attacker would either get angry , or even worse , be encouraged to respond with an actual weapon of some sort .
      From his vebal description , it would probably be most effective as an impact weapon .
      Does Sweden have OC aka Pepper Spray ?At least that could provide some standoff distance .

      @@alanbrownrigg3149 only for those who don't know the law or how to interpret it, the basic law of home or self defence in Europe is that if you are attracted and your life is in danger you can use anything at hand to defend your self even a firearm if you have one, then if your firearm is owned illegally you'll be prosecuted for illegal ownership of a firearm but not for using it for your defence. The most inportant is to be able to prove the letal intent of the attacker, that means if he was armed with anything that can be used as a weapon, knife, machete, sword, bat etc. Most probably if the attacker is unarmed and you injure or kill him, you'll be charged with murder or attempted murder depending on the level of injures. This is just as a basic concept but there are many factors which will help determine that your use of any weapon is justified or not, so the short answer is YES YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND YOUR HOME AND YOUR SELF.

These will absolutely turn an eye into paste. 7-ish joules concentrated into half an inch is no firearm - but it will break bare skin, leave bruises, and surprise the crap out of someone that doesn't expect any kind of gun. Imagine getting punched by someone holding a sharpie or something - now imagine having that force in the palm of your hand ready to go six times in a couple seconds. For its role, it makes sense for the thing to look the way it does despite being what it is. For my fellow American viewers; keep in mind - this is in a place where your average home invader is drastically less likely to have a firearm, legal or otherwise - and in the heat of the moment, this thing looks real with its shiny metal barrel. Getting hit with one of these when you're prepared for it stings but won't wound and maybe you can laugh it off - but two or three of these on thinner clothing or bare skin will de-motivate most people pretty quickly - especially if they haven't even had the chance to evaluate what kind of weapon it is. For the extremely rare case of someone tweaking so hard that this weapon won't slow them, a point-blank shot to bare flesh would likely give an opening for escape, and certainly beats nothing.

      And even OC spray isn't reliable. In the US army soldiers are - regularly - exposed to tear gas because the stuff isn't that disabling if you've been through it before. Police officers are sprayed with OC spray and made to conduct a simulated arrest for the same reason.
      This is one of the reasons many police departments limit the use of 'less lethal' to situations where you're backed up by another officer with a gun.

    • @hymnis
      @hymnis 3 роки тому

      But OC-spray isn't an option in Sweden since it falls in the same category as firearms legally. It requires a license, which isn't given to civilians, only law enforcement. So even owning a can of OC-spray is a felony and if you use it in a self defence situation, you will be charged with owning and using an illegal weapon. Depending on how the situation unfolds, you might even be charged with assault and end up having to pay the intruder a recompense fee.
      Sweden has no stand-your-ground laws or castle doctrine. You can defend yourself and your home, but use of force (with or without weapon) to defend property is pretty much reserved for law enforcement. (It's a bit more nuanced than that, but in broad strokes.)

    This looks like a pretty cool item. Though while it’s not ideal for defense, one major thing I can think of that no one else mentioned would be as a training tool. Something inexpensive and easy to shoot just about anywhere to help teach the basics of accuracy and safety.

      @@whatsmolly5741 Those C02 cartridges are super temperature sensitive. You are not getting full power for all the shots in this revolver. If the attacker has thick clothes on, it's going to be even more ineffective. You don't want to be close enough to hit someone in the face with this. That's close enough for them to get ahold of you. There are times when people are so fueled with adrenaline they don't realize they were shot with a penetrating bullet. This is a toy or rabbit hunter.
