We test accuracy, velocity, clear ballistic gel blocks and a watermelon to see what it will do. It was pretty impressive. #TR50 #Umarex #50caliber

      We used to add oils and greases to pellets in an air rifle. I think it's called dieseling. You get combustion of the oil if you do it right and it definitely gives extra power.

    • @geoffg46
      @geoffg46 4 місяці тому +9

      Dieseling won't happen with co2, to create dieseling it needs air or the oxygen in the air , remember, co2 is used as a fire extinguisher and works by stopping the oxygen in the air getting to the combustion. WD40 would help if the pellet is a tight fit. I spray silicone dry lube in most my barrels to help em slide easier

    Not for nothin, but the devastators don't expend more gas, it's just the same amount of gas pushing more weight. The gun is designed to put out a fixed volume of gas with each shot. Also as the total volume of gas in the cylinder decreases, it can effect how much gas becomes available in the chamber for your next shot. Temperature is a factor with these guns too. As the CO2 cools down the components of the gun, the density of the gas decreases and reduces power a bit. Great video though. Very informative as to the power and capability of these guns. We have one for home defense ourselves.
    We chose this over a more traditional handgun not because firearms aren't available (we live in TN), but because I feel it helps eliminate the hesitation factor. If you're hesitant about the idea of killing someone, a less lethal option might make it easier for you to pull the trigger when you really should.

    I recently used one of these in a self defense situation here in LA. I've had it since May of this year. I carry it in my van with a fresh co2 and with 4 loaded cylinders, Two with what are called Devastator BBs in a Sabot and Hard Nylon rounds, and one in the gun with devastators. I Fired 4 shots of the Devastator rounds center mass at them and my attacker backed away and fled from the scene really quick.
    I had my Cold Steel Luzon as a backup but I didn't need to resort to it. It works. It definitely works for self defense. I wouldn't never recommend it over a gun but I definitely recommend it for us who want to be lawful in LA of all places.

    Hey PEOPLE LISTEN UP!!!
    Saw this video and went on Amazon to see if it was available there. Of course, I always read the review section extensively before making any purchase. Time and time again, people were complaining of this very CO2 gun blowing up, with no fault of the user. Apparently, there have been instances where the CO2 cartridges fill up the tank (unintentionally), and when the pressure goes too high, the reservoir blows up. People have had damages to their car windows, household sheetrock, and one reviewer got a broken jaw (allegedly). There are many accompanying fotos of the damaged guns on Amazon. Of course, a lot of people had nothing but positive experiences. However the negative ones, were pretty bad. Don’t want to see anyone getting hurt, so I had to share this info.

    • @johnalexander7369
      @johnalexander7369 8 місяців тому +32

      The one that said he had his jaw broken had a picture of the co2 cartridge in the chamber upside down. If he hit it hard enough to puncture the bottom of the tank the contents of the co2 cartridge would have emptied into the chamber. The loading upside down Im sure is causing issues for those that dont read the instructions.

      CO2 air guns don’t “overpressurize” and “blow up”unintentionally. The pressure is limited by the amount of liquid CO2 in the cylinder. The pressure is about 800 psi at room temperature and remains consistent until all the liquid vaporizes, at which time the pressure begins to drop rapidly as you shoot. Of course any gas cylinder can be dangerously overheated. But this typically is a result of foolish experiments or a gas cylinder in poor condition .

    I have one of these and it's so much fun! You can fire ceramic balls for maximum damage, the steel balls are too heavy and the CO2 doesn't have enough power to get any velocity out of them. The ceramic balls are very light and very hard. You can alternate pepper balls and ceramic balls and really provide something better than nothing. If you just like to shoot at pop cans and random stuff around the house the rubber balls are awesome

    • @Seabass1206
      @Seabass1206 8 місяців тому +8

      its not about the velocity it’s about the weight and velocity combined so although the heavier slugs are moving slower they have more energy due to the weight

    • @harrysetatestiesJR
      @harrysetatestiesJR 8 місяців тому +2

      @@Seabass1206 momentum is mass x velocity. There's a point of diminishing return with the energy you can extract out of a CO2 cartridge. The mass of a steel ball makes it so slow it's really not effective. The density and speed of a ceramic ball causes way more pain to your flesh. Trust me, I've been hit with everything except the pepper balls. The only time the steel balls hurt is if they hit a bone and it bounces off a winter jacket. Ceramic balls will penetrate denim and break skin

    • @angrysocialjusticewarrior
      @angrysocialjusticewarrior 8 місяців тому

      @@Seabass1206 You are technically correct, but the guy you are replying too is still correct.
      Although a slow moving but heavier ball can achieve the same joules as a fast moving but lighter ball, the lighter ball would still be superior. The heavy ball will be slow, which makes it easier for your target to narrowly escape the shot when he is scattering around. Also, since the ball is heavier, it won't be able to travel as far, and won't be as accurate.
      A lighter ball can be shot further, will stay on target further, and will have an easier time of overcoming the reflexes of your target.
      My comment only applies to heavy balls and light balls that achieve the same joules. If the heavy ball has more impact force, than it is superior to the lighter ball.

    I got the same Umarex .50 and the main reason for the plastic surface of devestator rounds is to protect the barrel. Like it says in the website i ordered it: "The usage of the steel balls will damage your device. If you want to get more penetration with your self defense gun buy the smaller cal option, there are automatic choises with 30 rounds capasity like .25 that are actually fatal. It is an airgun not a real pistol, but I can tell you those 50 cal pellets can penetrate skin and no doubt would hurt and sting, that along with the realistic looks and sound of being fired would most likely chase any home invader away,, and what is great is they are perfect for those who do not have pistol permits or can not own a Firearm ( Pellet and BB guns are considered Airguns are not considered a legal Firearm ) I used to Work in Airgun Manufacturing and can tell you this is more powerful than what I have ever seen

    Living in the U.K., especially the part of the U.K. I live in, in which firearms aren’t prevalent, I can see this being useful.
    Most burglars here would either not be armed or would use hammers, baseball bats or knives. This would actually be the best counter here aside from an actual gun (we have strict laws), this could repel burglars or street thugs from a distance and because it’s a repeater you could use it to maintain distance or at the very least afford yourself more time to either run or ready yourself for a fight against an already injured guy. An excellent video. Thank you.

    Great video. I am a disabled US Marine Combat Veteran who served in Iraq and was injured pretty badly. I came back and got out with a Honorable Discharge. I am a Combat Veteran who firmly believes in the US Constitution, but at the same time I am also a convicted felon. I got caught with a small amount of drugs trying to self medicate, and avoid actual therapy. I was an addict, and addicts need help, not a felony. I am in the process of getting my firearm rights back, but in all honesty,.....I should not have to spend thousands on a attorney to get back a Constitutional Right...!!! There are literally thousands, if not millions of people that are in my same exact position. I have never hurt anyone in my life, except in combat, for this great nations Constitution. Looks cool, great video as always.

There’s plenty black powder revolvers to choose from and they’ll still protect you and the fam. It’s a shame your rights have been taken from you by tyrants. There’s nothing in the constitution that says a felon can’t own a firearm… but that’s the world we live in. As a fellow Marine it pisses me off even more that your rights have been stolen from you. People make mistakes and they should not be punished for life or have to spend thousands of dollars to get their rights back. Hope everything works out for you devil. Stay clean! Semper Fi

      You should look into the AEA Terminator gen 2. Comes in .30 and .357. It's fairly expensive compared to an AR15, but it's a decent option for home defense for those of us who had our constitutional rights stripped from us. There are a few videos online you can find of it that demonstrate just how powerful it is. My other favorite is the Hatsan Blitz .30. It's not nearly as powerful as the terminator, but it comes in full auto and has a decent size extended mag. It's also much cheaper than the Terminator. Both are air rifles are lethal and decent options for home defense.

      A better option is a modern repeating crossbow. Legal in most countries, and those things are deadly at close range. I own a small one, and can get off 6 accurate shots in under 10 seconds, reloading another 6 bolts takes less than 5 secs. Not as good as a firearm, but a viable home defense option.

    I can tell you with 100% certainty that if used for home defense it WILL stop even the most motivated attacker dead in their tracks. Use stainless steel Z-RAMs slugs or 50Cal ball bearing, and do one of the many available power upgrades including the barrel extension. Before doing any upgrade it is important to determine what power-valve your gun came with. Some are only pressure fitted on, some are pressure fitted and crimped on only two sides and the best one (which is actually in the 7 Joule lowest power model) is ring crimped all the way around. The pressure fitted and double crimped version have been know to come apart when the gun is modified with the larger hole gas-valve and shorter valve-pin. If you have one of these versions be sure to store it where it is not exposed to excessive heat to prolong the life/integrity of the valve-body. For locations where it is difficult to obtain a real firearm one of these (especially when modified) WILL save your life. Choose the slugs that do the most damage. There are lots of video showing which ones to buy.

    Less-lethal is a good option in a lot of circumstances. Living in an area with a higher population density, there are a lot of different levels of intrusion that are happening. The vast majority are random opportunists that are looking to score an easy theft without any interaction, and will go away when confronted. The Lurkers, the Opportunists, The porch pirates. They're becoming more bold but are generally angry nuisance-level creatures that don't carry, and they run.
    There's a next level, the ones who make a plan, the ones who actively choose to take action and and intrude with violence, they may need a deterrent.
    This is a really good sweet spot for that very thing. It's a good Home Defense weapon.
    It's not a good personal carry device. If you're in a place where you have a legitimate concern about needing to protect yourself from an armed assailant, you need more of a quiet-pills delivery system. It's no longer a deterrent.

    How many joules does this have? We have a 7.5J limit in Germany, and there were practically no options for home defense until now. I´d like to know if a 7.5J airgun can really stop an aggressive, strong guy under adrenaline. Don´t wanna try on myself 😀

    Might be OK for some issues as long as your backup is the real deal...

    The trouble with ideas like this is that if you live in a country that does not allow you to use handguns for self defence (or at all) it's likely that you're not really allowed to defend yourself anyway. So the gun itself might be legal but not legal to be kept and used for it's intended purpose, at least that's the law in the UK.

      Well at the time the intruder entered your home you just happened to be doing some target practice and they stood in the way. Whatever happens, law or not, if anyone comes into my home (I live in the UK) they will be leaving on a stretcher with paramedics.

      I worry about gangs (I live in London) getting hold of these and entering other people’s houses. Most of them don’t really know the law and they might think it’s ok to shoot with it.

    i like the BYRNA option also with pepper balls that seem to be incredibly powerful..I understand also people who do not want to kill anyone but still hurt them bad if needed...!!

    Nice neview!
    Maybe the silver hex nut on the magazine/ammo clips can be blacked out to aid in proper clip insertion during reloads.
    When the "silver star" on the clip is facing you, you'll know its facing the correct direction when reloading.
