- The Umarex TR50 11 Joules .50 Caliber C02 Revolver is hard hitting at over 450 fps, has multiple projectile choices including pepper ball rounds and has 5 quick change 6 rd magazines. We test accuracy, velocity, clear ballistic gel blocks and a watermelon to see what it will do. It was pretty impressive. #TR50 #Umarex #50caliber

You can increase the power by about 2-3x if you remove the CO2 restrict or and change out the barrel. Both can be done with a jewelers screwdriver
Please ,, how to remove the restrict
@alfredj.leeper2920 open it then open it again the top right where the hammer would be in a real gon there's a brass cap then you use a screw or whatever and push out the restrictor out then screw the brash cap back on and you're done.
I'm so grateful for 9mm and 5.56.
Yeah, your name even has your "gratefulness" in it.

Indeed this is a fun “toy” for plinking. I would hate to have to rely on this for life and death situations…
@@andrewfossatti4937 Same here, I've always said if I couldn't have a gun, my next choice is a crossbow and spear...
Niche gun at best.
As an ex felon in California from 1997..I have this gun and love it. I'm amazed how powerful it is ..along with my Umarex Air Saber I'm set for home protection ....TIP...I spray a little WD-40 on the devastator pellets and they fly out of there... great video 👍
Hope you can get your 2nd Amendment rights back in CA. There are attorneys on here that specialize in this area. Go for it and let us know how it turns out.👍 Otherwise you may have to leave CA to get your 2nd Amendment rights back from any other state than CA.
We used to add oils and greases to pellets in an air rifle. I think it's called dieseling. You get combustion of the oil if you do it right and it definitely gives extra power.
Dieseling won't happen with co2, to create dieseling it needs air or the oxygen in the air , remember, co2 is used as a fire extinguisher and works by stopping the oxygen in the air getting to the combustion. WD40 would help if the pellet is a tight fit. I spray silicone dry lube in most my barrels to help em slide easier
@@geoffg46 Use NOS cylinders instead then ;)
@@thebolsta 10/10 thinking
Not for nothin, but the devastators don't expend more gas, it's just the same amount of gas pushing more weight. The gun is designed to put out a fixed volume of gas with each shot. Also as the total volume of gas in the cylinder decreases, it can effect how much gas becomes available in the chamber for your next shot. Temperature is a factor with these guns too. As the CO2 cools down the components of the gun, the density of the gas decreases and reduces power a bit. Great video though. Very informative as to the power and capability of these guns. We have one for home defense ourselves.
We chose this over a more traditional handgun not because firearms aren't available (we live in TN), but because I feel it helps eliminate the hesitation factor. If you're hesitant about the idea of killing someone, a less lethal option might make it easier for you to pull the trigger when you really should.
As a single woman (living just outside Chicago) I learn so much about personal protection from you and the audience comments. Thank you for all the great information. It's much appreciated!
Well, ignore this video completely. This has NO place in the self-defense world against people.

Awesome glad to hear it! NOW GET THE FUCK OUT OF CHICAGO!

I'd suggest getting concealed carry license. I'm in the Chicago burbs and I got mine a few months ago. A lot of people are getting them now.
Its absolutely ridiculous that someone protected by armed security can restrict the everyday person to use a tool like this for personal protection
Have you ever been shot with one?
They can only if we let them .

You with this abomination vs someone with a Glock 17.
I think cops should hv something like this and carry shotgun/other in trunk. No reason to hv lethal force and to hv that power so easily.
I recently used one of these in a self defense situation here in LA. I've had it since May of this year. I carry it in my van with a fresh co2 and with 4 loaded cylinders, Two with what are called Devastator BBs in a Sabot and Hard Nylon rounds, and one in the gun with devastators. I Fired 4 shots of the Devastator rounds center mass at them and my attacker backed away and fled from the scene really quick.
I had my Cold Steel Luzon as a backup but I didn't need to resort to it. It works. It definitely works for self defense. I wouldn't never recommend it over a gun but I definitely recommend it for us who want to be lawful in LA of all places.
The best part is, you weren't arrested and hauled off to jail had it been a real pistol.... glad to hear you made it out OK
Exacto viejo, toma en cuenta obvio el contexto, fue solo uno, y aparentemente no tenía un arma de fuego con el, para el 80% de situaciones de riesgo es muy probable que si funciona. Hey PEOPLE LISTEN UP!!!
Saw this video and went on Amazon to see if it was available there. Of course, I always read the review section extensively before making any purchase. Time and time again, people were complaining of this very CO2 gun blowing up, with no fault of the user. Apparently, there have been instances where the CO2 cartridges fill up the tank (unintentionally), and when the pressure goes too high, the reservoir blows up. People have had damages to their car windows, household sheetrock, and one reviewer got a broken jaw (allegedly). There are many accompanying fotos of the damaged guns on Amazon. Of course, a lot of people had nothing but positive experiences. However the negative ones, were pretty bad. Don’t want to see anyone getting hurt, so I had to share this info.
The one that said he had his jaw broken had a picture of the co2 cartridge in the chamber upside down. If he hit it hard enough to puncture the bottom of the tank the contents of the co2 cartridge would have emptied into the chamber. The loading upside down Im sure is causing issues for those that dont read the instructions.
3:00 Adode puedo mandarlo abuscar y el costo PUERTO RICO..$
CO2 air guns don’t “overpressurize” and “blow up”unintentionally. The pressure is limited by the amount of liquid CO2 in the cylinder. The pressure is about 800 psi at room temperature and remains consistent until all the liquid vaporizes, at which time the pressure begins to drop rapidly as you shoot. Of course any gas cylinder can be dangerously overheated. But this typically is a result of foolish experiments or a gas cylinder in poor condition .
Good lookin out, thanks for the heads-up

that's pretty freaking cool
Thank you for showing this option for those who do not have a way to defend their home and family. I just made an order for one.
Amazing review video by the way. very quick yet straight to the point with all the vital information we would need to make a choice & covering all the bases of the use of the firearm. 👍
I have one of these and it's so much fun! You can fire ceramic balls for maximum damage, the steel balls are too heavy and the CO2 doesn't have enough power to get any velocity out of them. The ceramic balls are very light and very hard. You can alternate pepper balls and ceramic balls and really provide something better than nothing. If you just like to shoot at pop cans and random stuff around the house the rubber balls are awesome
its not about the velocity it’s about the weight and velocity combined so although the heavier slugs are moving slower they have more energy due to the weight
@@Seabass1206 momentum is mass x velocity. There's a point of diminishing return with the energy you can extract out of a CO2 cartridge. The mass of a steel ball makes it so slow it's really not effective. The density and speed of a ceramic ball causes way more pain to your flesh. Trust me, I've been hit with everything except the pepper balls. The only time the steel balls hurt is if they hit a bone and it bounces off a winter jacket. Ceramic balls will penetrate denim and break skin
@@Seabass1206 You are technically correct, but the guy you are replying too is still correct.
Although a slow moving but heavier ball can achieve the same joules as a fast moving but lighter ball, the lighter ball would still be superior. The heavy ball will be slow, which makes it easier for your target to narrowly escape the shot when he is scattering around. Also, since the ball is heavier, it won't be able to travel as far, and won't be as accurate.
A lighter ball can be shot further, will stay on target further, and will have an easier time of overcoming the reflexes of your target.
My comment only applies to heavy balls and light balls that achieve the same joules. If the heavy ball has more impact force, than it is superior to the lighter ball.
haha imagine getting pepper sprayed and whacked with steel balls at the same time. chaos

I got the Stinger 2 compact pistol crossbow for home defense. I modified it to be able to shoot those gold bolts. The modifications made the crossbow more reliable, as well. I feel confident this crossbow will do a good job for home defense. I will buy a gun eventually, but this will do for now.
me too , Im very happy with mine
(4:12) The advantage of being able to not pierce the cartridge and not pressurizing the gun until you're ready to use it is that air guns will gradually leak air and lose pressure if they sit there unused.
My Benjamin pioneer Air bow has has 2,600 psi for 2 years now . They recommend storing it with air . Depends on the manufacturer
Love the 44 magnum
Air isn't CO2. A PCP tank isn't a 12gram cartridge.
@@chrisgaskill7923
Different power source. The airbow is a PCP, it's just high pressure air. All PCP guns are meant to be left filled. This is a pure CO2 pistol, they pretty much always leak and also don't work in the cold.

It's unfortunate that in the state of NJ, everything is illegal. It's very difficult to obtain this type of weapon for home defense or any for that matter. The only concern with using this type of gun for home defense is that the intruder will more than likely be carrying a real firearm that he obtain illegally no less.
This may have its place when considering home defense, but the bad guys are carrying some serious heat. Enjoyed the vid. Thx
Purely on visual appeal, this is a very beautiful piece. It immediately reminded me of Deckard's blaster gun, also known as the Steyer Pfläger-Katsumata Series-D 5223 (PK-D 5223) or Detective Special, in the original Blade Runner movie. Deter, Delay, Distract, that's what these are really great for, if you have nothing else.
And yes I own tuned up versions of the .50 and .68.
I got the same Umarex .50 and the main reason for the plastic surface of devestator rounds is to protect the barrel. Like it says in the website i ordered it: "The usage of the steel balls will damage your device. If you want to get more penetration with your self defense gun buy the smaller cal option, there are automatic choises with 30 rounds capasity like .25 that are actually fatal. If you want to pick a self defense C02- weapon, there`s a "sawed off shotgun" wersion out there (manuafactured that way) and the steel balls will reck it.

Living in the U.K., especially the part of the U.K. I live in, in which firearms aren’t prevalent, I can see this being useful.
Most burglars here would either not be armed or would use hammers, baseball bats or knives. This would actually be the best counter here aside from an actual gun (we have strict laws), this could repel burglars or street thugs from a distance and because it’s a repeater you could use it to maintain distance or at the very least afford yourself more time to either run or ready yourself for a fight against an already injured guy. An excellent video. Thank you.
I have never seen such a nice watermelon before!
Great video. I am a disabled US Marine Combat Veteran who served in Iraq and was injured pretty badly. I came back and got out with a Honorable Discharge. I am a Combat Veteran who firmly believes in the US Constitution, but at the same time I am also a convicted felon. I got caught with a small amount of drugs trying to self medicate, and avoid actual therapy. I was an addict, and addicts need help, not a felony. I am in the process of getting my firearm rights back, but in all honesty,.....I should not have to spend thousands on a attorney to get back a Constitutional Right...!!! There are literally thousands, if not millions of people that are in my same exact position. I have never hurt anyone in my life, except in combat, for this great nations Constitution. Looks cool, great video as always.
You sound like hunter Biden dishonorable discharged because of drugs you are doing it the right way he lied on a federal form and not in jail I'm also a combat vet and I had a hart time buying a gun because they tried to buy a gun with ptsd its just Biden trying to dis armed citizens if a civil war breaks out because of the corrupt dirt he is doing
You can also have black powder firearms being a felon, as long as you are in a free state and not commifornia or the like. There’s plenty black powder revolvers to choose from and they’ll still protect you and the fam. It’s a shame your rights have been taken from you by tyrants. There’s nothing in the constitution that says a felon can’t own a firearm… but that’s the world we live in. As a fellow Marine it pisses me off even more that your rights have been stolen from you. People make mistakes and they should not be punished for life or have to spend thousands of dollars to get their rights back. Hope everything works out for you devil. Stay clean! Semper Fi
You should look into the AEA Terminator gen 2. Comes in .30 and .357. It's fairly expensive compared to an AR15, but it's a decent option for home defense for those of us who had our constitutional rights stripped from us. There are a few videos online you can find of it that demonstrate just how powerful it is. My other favorite is the Hatsan Blitz .30. It's not nearly as powerful as the terminator, but it comes in full auto and has a decent size extended mag. It's also much cheaper than the Terminator. Both are air rifles are lethal and decent options for home defense.
I have the same pistol. I like the 2.7 gram rubber-steel balls, no loss of fps and they will break 1" X 4" fence slats in half at 40 feet. This solves my high density housing dilemma as I worry about a pass-through and harming an innocent person. A thin wall can be your downfall, especially living in a condo.
Yes, so true! That fact is overlooked!
AR-15 or .40, 357 in an apartment??
No way man. I own this .50 cal and the .68 too. Also the S2, Gavle and Byrna LE. And have destroyed thick cans and boards. They are an option for sure!
Thank You , very informative overview !!
That's so cool, wish I had one growing up
Very interesting idea. Not ideal, but better than nothing for those with limited options.
I think here in the Netherlands we can't even have this: it looks too much like a real firearm. Still, I doubt that this is a good option for self defense, it'll hurt like heck to be shot with this... but nothing more.
A better option is a modern repeating crossbow. Legal in most countries, and those things are deadly at close range. I own a small one, and can get off 6 accurate shots in under 10 seconds, reloading another 6 bolts takes less than 5 secs. Not as good as a firearm, but a viable home defense option.

Glad you explained less lethal vs less than lethal.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that if used for home defense it WILL stop even the most motivated attacker dead in their tracks. Use stainless steel Z-RAMs slugs or 50Cal ball bearing, and do one of the many available power upgrades including the barrel extension. Before doing any upgrade it is important to determine what power-valve your gun came with. Some are only pressure fitted on, some are pressure fitted and crimped on only two sides and the best one (which is actually in the 7 Joule lowest power model) is ring crimped all the way around. The pressure fitted and double crimped version have been know to come apart when the gun is modified with the larger hole gas-valve and shorter valve-pin. If you have one of these versions be sure to store it where it is not exposed to excessive heat to prolong the life/integrity of the valve-body. For locations where it is difficult to obtain a real firearm one of these (especially when modified) WILL save your life. Choose the slugs that do the most damage. There are lots of video showing which ones to buy.
An intruder with a denim jacket would be an issue ha ha ha Definately don't bring this to a gun fight.
@@justinfaires2782 Mine shoots through plywood, far less a denim jacket. Do you even know what a Z-RAM is? Even at only 400ft per second one of those slugs would probably kill someone if they got hit anywhere in the or vitals. Again if you cannot get a real gun this will make whatever is in front of you leave….immediately. Or just scream and cry until the police come.
Your first sentence is complete BS. I've seen several people that were shot several times by real guns that continued their attacks until they died.
In a bank robbery gunfight, the FBI lost several agents that way, prompting them to convert to firearms yielding 18" penetration in ballistic gel. They've switched things up several times since then.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that your comment is so absurd it's comical.
Bought one a year ago way fun. Get the aluminum.50 balls light and hard . I use the .50 steel bearings that give a hell of a thump.
I think most high powered pellet,BB guns are pretty good for defense. Even if you hit someone in the face and neck several times with a standard pellet gun, odds are they’re gonna be incapacitated or run away
Mine takes dime sized chunks out of cinder blocks. Imagine a couple shots to the adams apple.
Excellent informative video. Nicely done.
People joking about it being less than lethal or not a real firearm I doubt would voluntarily step in front of it. 400 fps is nothing to joke around about and definitely lethal
With the recent handgun ban in Canada, an air pistol shooting under 500fps is about as good as newcomer to shooting can get. As a non-firearm it would also be free of many restrictions regarding transport and storage.

One added benefit with this projectile system is the lack of lead. You can subsequently EAT the watermelon.
I think this is better than Byrna and other competition. It would be good for home defense in apartments. I saw a video recently where a guy unloaded through the door on some fake delivery guys. What I noticed though is that the door of another apartment was directly across from his. So bullet spraying could go right through into the neighbor's apartment. I think this would be good in a scenario where neighbors are close by.
I'm not a felon nor restricted but I'm not comfortable owning a gun due to past mental health issues. This video was very informative, think I'm going to pick one of these up. Thank you!
Would be nice to see the steel balls in the ballistic gel starting with a new co2 for each cylinder
Yeah, it was stupid to use them last. SMH.
Should have been new CO2 for every 6 shot test regardless of projectile . For self defense you would start with fresh CO2 !
I'd like to see a Byrna T50 side by side comparison. Also, I'd like to see the steel balls in cased in orange plastic beef up with Vicks jelly dabbed on the backside of the cartridge in each hole.
It should double the velocity and add a little flame.
That's called "dieseling" (works the same way), it works with 20 joules air carbine, but CO2 does not permit combustion.
And moreover, dieseling spoils the inner parts of the gun.

Still using my Sig P250 Compact 9mm with 21 round extended mags. Yes I practice staging the trigger and yes I know it's very old school.
One of the best demo videos out there. Does the gun have a safety mechanism? Or is the button on the bottom of the hand grip a safety? Or is the side lever on the barrel a safety? If you don't use all of the gas will it lose its pressure from sitting around not being used? I would consider this a deadly weapon at close range. Very impressive video and hand gun. Will watch for more from your channel. Thank you very much.

@aldousorwell3807 if they decide to run away. If they realize it's less lethal, they may not. Or, conversely, they may think they have been actually shot and decide to try and take you with them. Or worse, they have a real gun and decide to return fire. Which means you and everyone behind you are now at risk. No, this is a terrible idea, and the more I think about it, the worse it gets.
I own an armed security firm. I might get one of these &paint half the barrel orange. Everyone including me is former or current law enforcement and the pepper or the polymer balls would be great for that intermediate level of force. Leave it in the company vehicle and this is not a bad price at all.
Now thats what im talking about!!! Not a firearm but definately will stop a thief
Less-lethal is a good option in a lot of circumstances. Living in an area with a higher population density, there are a lot of different levels of intrusion that are happening. The vast majority are random opportunists that are looking to score an easy theft without any interaction, and will go away when confronted. The Lurkers, the Opportunists, The porch pirates. They're becoming more bold but are generally angry nuisance-level creatures that don't carry, and they run.
There's a next level, the ones who make a plan, the ones who actively choose to take action and and intrude with violence, they may need a deterrent.
This is a really good sweet spot for that very thing. It's a good Home Defense weapon.
It's not a good personal carry device. If you're in a place where you have a legitimate concern about needing to protect yourself from an armed assailant, you need more of a quiet-pills delivery system. It's no longer a deterrent.
I would love to see the upgraded version and it’s capabilities.
Channel called mad dog air guns has done extensive mods on it. Some I think worth while , some not. Also air gun alley has done lots with it including mini arrows.
its called a 357 mag.python
In the 80's my cousin had one of the early ones looked like a Smith&Wesson. I dont remember too much except that it was scary looking and he used to go hunting with it. This looks like it can do a lot more damage though nothing beats an old fashioned bullet. Oatmeal beats no meal i guess
So, how about dieseling it?...
this thing is a great option for protection, especially aggressive person or dog attacks...
Very informative, thanks
That is a cool device!!
They need to make them with standard capacity magazines of at least 30.
They do make an AR version
Also make several other versions all modifiable to very high velocities, shotguns etc
Jee, I just use my .357 snub , never had an issue.
How many joules does this have? We have a 7.5J limit in Germany, and there were practically no options for home defense until now. I´d like to know if a 7.5J airgun can really stop an aggressive, strong guy under adrenaline. Don´t wanna try on myself 😀
Might be OK for some issues as long as your backup is the real deal...
The trouble with ideas like this is that if you live in a country that does not allow you to use handguns for self defence (or at all) it's likely that you're not really allowed to defend yourself anyway. So the gun itself might be legal but not legal to be kept and used for it's intended purpose, at least that's the law in the UK.
Well at the time the intruder entered your home you just happened to be doing some target practice and they stood in the way. Whatever happens, law or not, if anyone comes into my home (I live in the UK) they will be leaving on a stretcher with paramedics.
I worry about gangs (I live in London) getting hold of these and entering other people’s houses. Most of them don’t really know the law and they might think it’s ok to shoot with it.
i like the BYRNA option also with pepper balls that seem to be incredibly powerful..I understand also people who do not want to kill anyone but still hurt them bad if needed...!!
i seen steel ball with rubber coated is this good deterrent for home defense
Nice job SOOCH00, wonder if a 50 cal lead ball would work
Nice neview!
Maybe the silver hex nut on the magazine/ammo clips can be blacked out to aid in proper clip insertion during reloads.
When the "silver star" on the clip is facing you, you'll know its facing the correct direction when reloading.
