- We tackle a twisty bendy and generally not very happy Black Cherry. The various twists and bends offered no efficient way to saw the lumber but we got some nice looking boards.
Nice job Paul
Thanks Paul!
Happy new year!
Nice boards and a good video!
Thank You! I just wish I was able to get more boards from the log.
Great cheat sheet. I have one I use for store bought 2x4 dimensions.
Thanks Donnie. I try to avoid store bought dimensions as the non-even numbers make me have to think 😁
@@southernadirondackoutdoors 🤣🤣🤣 I’m with you but sometimes folks want them.
Great that you milled it… it’s beautiful and will live on… enjoy the next round of snow headed your way! Cheers!
Thanks Glenn! 32 to 37 inches yesterday...can't say I enjoyed it 😁
@@southernadirondackoutdoors no... that's was a lot... looks like your back milling again. take care!
Pretty good for old bendy log . Glad you saved it from rotting.
Thanks George! It was a challenge to figure out and not get grumpy with it 🤣
I had a mouse make a nest and eat through the spark plug wire this year. Nice looking wood though. I keep cutting cherry even though I don't sell much. People don't seem to want it much but I like it.
Thanks Paul. Those darn mice can get everywhere and cause damage. Smaller fresh slabs of cherry seem to sell well but not the lumber.
Great job Paul getting something out of it !
Thanks Dale, a little something is better than a lot of nothing.
Now I have to make a cheat sheet. I can never remember and have to sit and figure it out. Thanks for showing that.
It comes in handy and less confusion created by thinking too much 🤣
Banana Rama! I hate banana logs because of the waste. But I still process them. Stay warm!
It sure was a banana Jeff! Sometimes I wonder if they are worth it, but at least the waste can go towards keeping somebody warm.
I liked the camera angle at 9:25 👍
Thanks Josh, I'm glad you liked it! The lens and little dead cat were covered with sawdust afterwards 😁
great. job we don't have much cherry keep up the good job
Will do, thanks Robert!
I like it. I think you got all it had to offer.
Brent
Thanks Brent!
A thermometer in the sawmill building? Tim has one too. 🤔 I didn't spot a no no.....of course idk if I could spot one because I'm always doing no no's 😂😅😂
Since you didn't see it I'll say I did a perfect job 😁
@southernadirondackoutdoors no wonder I didn't see it!
Nice cherry Paul
Thanks Denis! It may be the last log for awhile. We just finished clearing up from 3 feet of snow Friday and another 2 feet last night. Logs are pretty much inaccessible now.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors We have snow for the last 3 days about 6 inch's or more in parts of Ireland and it's going to change from tonight on wards were going to get cold rain even thunder hopefully it wouldn't be to bad
@@deniscarter6613 The in between weather is the worst!
I think "down to a nice smooth none of this stuff" should become an official sawmill term. I didn't see your sticky uppy things up on those last cuts. Maybe that was the no no? Or maybe I just didn't see them up.
Hey Michael, I tend to develop terms on the fly when I can't think of a proper one. The pith of black cherry is very unstable. Unless we are making slabs we'll usually make the pith into a 4x4 for dunnage. The blade exited almost dead center of the pith. Thanks for watching! PS...clean the inside of your recoil cover! 😁🤣
@@southernadirondackoutdoors Yeah yeah yeah 🤣
How y’all liking that power feed?
It is wonderful!
What Saw Blades are you running?
Wood-Mizer doublehards. The one in this video is a 4 degree blade resharpened once. We find these produce a very smooth cut in frozen logs. Thanks for stopping in and commenting!
