Last video you were wearing shorts, this video you're wearing a coat, where the heck do you live? 🤔🤣😂😉 Maple is always worth cutting open. Never disappointed. Who built the metal frame part for that fancy box?
I don't remember his name but his initials are TSC. 🤣 Had it laying around for years.
1x12s is what I would have gone with as well. Sometimes once inside, the log will fool you. That was a pretty rough log, good job!
Thanks! Hopefully he is coming today to pick everything up.
You forgot the roller doors to close it in for winter 🤔
Neighbor down the road has some shade cloths/tarps (he used to do build greenhouses etc) that he is going to dig out and give us.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors nice, our tarp curtains work well in the winter with a salamander running and the mill engine as a heat source
Knots that you're cutting off of that log can be given to someone who has a wood lathe to make bowls out of them. Great video, enjoy watching😀
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've actually been trying to find some turners in the area to make blanks for their use...so far no luck.
Great stuff! Nice box too! I'll take one
Ha, that took me all summer. I didn't have plans but knew what I wanted. I also had to sand down the carry-all frame and spray it gray, that Tractor Supply / County Line yellow had to go!
@@southernadirondackoutdoors You can come make me one! 😆
Nice maple and cutting Paul, how long was long sitting?
Thanks Paul! I think about two months. It was part of an old fence line maple that came down in a storm.
Another good video Paul.
Thanks Dave! I see Ravi got his new mill.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors Yeah, and it's a nice one.
Seeing the log reassembled at the end was very satisfying! Good job.
Thanks George! I thought you might like the reassembly 😁
Great video and equipment friends!👌👋🧡🧡👍
Thanks Craig!
Good job Andy on the carry all. I like the grapple . Looks like some nice maple and some great looking logs you got laying in the pile. I like the strapping. Good job there Sir.
Thanks Steve!
Nice carryall. I keep mine on the tractor most of the time.
I'm guessing it will be a spring and fall fixture for the L2501. In summer it's the finish mower for the orchard, and in winter a 5' snow blower. I thought you had a carry-all build video, but I couldn't find it when I was deciding on a build style. I like the DIY-MY-WAY design you used as well.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors I had a link to the build. A page called DIY Myway. He posts some good videos but hasn’t been on in a while.
Maple is such a pretty wood. The ballisters and railings at the church that I grew up in were all made from sugar maple. Beautiful stuff
I couldn't agree with you more!
What do you do with all your sawdust?
We sell it to kraft to mix with their parmesan cheese. 😁 Actually it is just in a big pile waiting for a solution to be found.
Awesome video Paul @southernadirondackoutdoors I like how you keep up the mill office, looks like you may need the 72" can't hook for those big logs at the beginning. I sell it to the ladies that barrel rase in the local rodeos, I place the add so they know to come buy it
@@thekiltedsawyer Some more leverage would come in handy.
Interesting way to strap them down on the grapple so you can move the whole kit and caboodle at once without it falling apart.
It was much more stable and should help keep them flat...hopefully!
Nice work Paul !
Thanks Dale!
Where r u roughly in Southern Adirondack. I am around Lake George NY area. We have an LT 15 WIDE. It's r 3rd Sawmill. They r nice Sawmills..
We are about 30 minutes north of Utica. Every big log I wish I had the wide version!
Sometimes logs will surprise you. That’s a good way of rolling the logs. Less backache . Every time I think I got a plan… we’ll let’s say it never works out. 😂😂 Good job there Sir.
They sure do and thanks Steve! It is a good way to turn the logs but I need to redesign it because the whole building was shaking turning this one. It's putting too much sideways pull on the beam.
Blue stain is beautiful. Nice grapple!
Thanks Dale err Derek 😁 It seems like people are split on blue stain, some like some hate
I cut a lot of white pine clear logs I did not play with. that kink of log can’t make anything out knots just dunnage
Agree, but turned out good enough for bulldozer shed in the woods siding.
Actually, Jemmy, it IS pronounced "steel" or "shteel" in the CORRECT German. You may pronounce it any way you wish, but DO NOT ever try and correct someone who chooses to say it CORRECTLY.
Great Blue Heron? Or a Bittern? Checking out the remaining Beaver Pond?
We think a great blue heron. Nature's engineers are back.
Just like people sometimes the beauty is all on the inside. Brent
Very true Brent.
Is that an impact or drill you use to turn log? Done use impact, always use drill.
Its a regular drill. I tried an impact initially but 'no good'
Nice job and yield Paul, you can't judge a book by its cover. You have a tree service guy that uses a tape instead of his boot.
Thanks Paul! Actually it was one of the tree fellers that dropped off the logs and he mentioned using his boot from time to time...it must be close to a foot! 🤣
How’s that grapple working for y’all?
So far so good. It takes a little to get used to (first grapple) but working good. You've seen me bump into the ends of the forks before...I have to be really careful not to bump into the points of the grapple!
@@southernadirondackoutdoors yea I know what you mean. Those things hurt 🤣
Good Job on that ugly log keep on sawing
Thanks Robert! Will do.
It doesn’t have issues, it has character 😂
True, if I was selling it I would use more flowery words 😁
"I don't really have a plan yet". That pretty much sums up every log that comes across my mill.
Yup, sometimes just start sawing is the plan 😁
For such a ugly log , nice yield Paul !
Thanks Dale!
Very cool, man. I like the stain color. I'm starting to dislike spruce.... it's difficult to mill. Stringy fibers, sticky goop, branch nubs always getting in the way.... spruce makes me appreciate pine, cedar, and hemlock!
Thanks Nate! I found there is a short window to mill spruce...between being wet and sappy and dry and hard as a rock...I think the window is about 10 minutes 😁 The branch nubs are a pain. BTW, good job on the Live the other day. Those ants did a lot of damage!
Lol! Those ants did make it, eh, a unique lumber. We have a good use for it! I will have to show what it is used for.
I sell those big logs, the ones bigger than I want to handle.
Not a bad idea, the big ones can be fun every now and then but also a hassle.
Looks good Paul, I guess I should do my little clean up jobs and get them done.
Thanks Paul...plenty of little jobs to do before the snow flies.
wrapping up little projects always feels so good... and makes you wonder why you didn't do it sooner. looks great.
It sure does!
How big was it ?
36 inches diameter, 10 foot 6 long.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors The Lt15 would have cut that !
@@DANG-- In it's dreams maybe 🤣
Turned out looking great, we did the something to the face of our old building board and batten. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Steve!
I like baord and batton sideing the most. when i finally get to the back shop addition that's what sidding i'm going with for sure. Looking good paul!.
Thanks Chris! I had been putting it off most of the summer.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors well thats the story of my life on some projects
It’s a Stihl… not a Steel.
Either way it's a great saw 😀
@@southernadirondackoutdoors Yeah but it’s not pronounced “Steel”. It’s Stihl.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors You are, in fact, CORRECT in your pronunciation. It is a German name properly pronounced "shteel" in Europe but most closely pronounced "steel" in 'Murrica. Ignore the others, you had it correct.
looking good
Thanks Brent!
Find out what the wattage of the extender and camera are, and if possible, not max but actual usage. Then using that you can determine the watt hours of battery power needed to run from dawn to dusk (plus a few hours either side) and that will tell you the size of battery to buy. Next you will need a charge controller and solar panel to provide the charging to the battery and finally, an inverter just big enough to provide 120v power for the equipment. If you need help figuring it out, let me know! ;) Cheers!
Thanks Erik. I looking at Nature Power sold thru Home Depot. What is appealing is that it is everything in one box...except batteries and panel mounts. I have no idea if it's any good or not but we might give it a try.
Carpenter bees been at the post?
There have been carpenter bees buzzing around this year but no, they didn't get the post. At the time our pine selection for an 8x8 was rather slim, this one was gotten to by those big white boring grubs but is still structurally sound enough. I've been meaning to make carpenter bee traps all summer but...
Looks great. I’ve got a short video I’m going to put up on a project also. Needed to get it done by fall and with work travels I’ve been slack in milling. Y’all’s shed looks great.
Thanks Donnie! There was a brief discussion of alternating green and red battens to give it a Christmas look 😁
now you actually have to go to the sawmill when you say you're going to the sawmill... we can all check in on you now. nice work
I hadn't thought of that 🤔...there may have to be a connection that goes out from time to time 😁
No wobbly pop now...Mama be watching!!😅
🤣Only when I'm in my easy chair at the end of the day!
That's pretty slick! Looking forward to the solar install :)
Thanks! I just started researching solar...they have finally come out with a kit in a box versus having to figure out the components separately which has deterred me in the past.
Great job Paul
Thanks Paul, it was fun doing something a little different.
Pretty slick.. .. I could use something like that to get internet in my shop.. Although, I'd never get off TikTok so might not be such a good idea.
Thanks Paul. You have to keep up with your TikTok dances somehow, why not in the shop 🤣
Internet at the sawmill. Now all you need is a solar powered TV and you can watch sawing videos while you are umm sawing.
and a beverage fridge then not much sawing would get done 🤣
@@southernadirondackoutdoors I have a garage fridge right on the other side of that wall you see behind my sawmill. Just make sure you have both pop and wobbly pop... wobbly pop only after the sawing is done.
Seems like a nice product for those of us that live where cell service is non-existent.
Yes...unless you are trying to avoid calls! 🤣
@@southernadirondackoutdoors lol, true story
Good job guys.
Thanks Donnie!
Live at the sawmill shed!
We'll have to experiment but maybe we can do a Saturday Live from there.
