Go easy on him lads, we know the album inside and out and he's listening for the first time. If it's super important you get back to back reacts with right in two, then wait til next Tuesday and watch this then Right in Two. I figure after reading the comments Skullz would consider re-listening to this right before Right in Two, but pls don't make the guy feel like he's doing you wrong. He's literally over here creating awesome content for us for months, cut a little slack and go with it.
For tool reactions, to me, yours are by far, thee best that is on UA-cam. You’re the only one who gets really really in depth of the lyrics and your take and interpretations. There is no one on YT who reacts to tool like you do. Thanks for making everything so understandable to new tool or even existing tool fans.
Agree 100%. Not that Paul wasn't good enough. He was very good. But I also believe its no coincidence that Tool's sound took a giant step forward with Aenima. Which of course is the first album with Justin. He doesn't get nearly enough accolades for his work. Adam doesn't either. I guess its not surprising...Maynard is their singer and Danny is their percussionist.
Absolutely. I mean....you can't do Maynard's Dick but skip No Quarter. I actually think Maynard's Dick is a legit excellent song....it's a lovely sorbet to the dark distorted pentatonic minor Tool sound we all know and love. But....No Quarter is legit part of the canon. And absolutely better than the original. Yeah, I said it. Because I honestly think it's true. ;P
The thing about Rosetta Stoned is it sneaks up on you. I don't remember thinking much about it when I first heard the album, but over the course of time since there was just a moment where I couldn't get enough of it. One day, years later, my son told me "I think Rosetta Stoned is my favorite song" and I paused and realized it was probably mine as well.
I can’t wait until you get to break down “Right in Two”. One of my all time favorites and the message is loud and clear. 🌀🤙🏻 have a great day my brother
Took me many re-listens just to give Rosetta a chance. Maybe years? It's like a horror movie. A lot of jump scares. Once settled in and braced, it's like a first-person RPG where you can defend yourself from the zombie onslaught. +1 for mixed metaphors!
Justin really makes this album. He’s the backbone especially on this song. I like how this song is about mankind in its primitive beginnings and then Danny comes in with the electric drums and it’s like a passage of time to the present. Like the hustle and bustle of a city when before it was a primitive village
@@InsaneCarville Right I like how Adam never really plays clean there’s always some dirt in it. He just plays harder to get a little more distortion or turn the volume up a tad
@@bwhotwing411 I picked up a few of these techniques from him. To the point that I started using a volume pedal as a "clean box" with the drive channel on my amp instead of a distortion pedal. He's a legend that way.
This is similar to my interpretation; I see that passage of time for team human as a reflection to the experience of the individual; there is a “purity” to both, until the compromises are made that propel our personal and collective evolutions into a direction. Right in Two is the suggestion that perhaps our collective coordinates have sent us into a negative trajectory, but I digress
I used to consider this as kind of a filler song but it’s 7 minutes long but recently I’ve been listening to it and it does have its own place on the album and it’s an important place and it’s actually pretty cool song
I think he meant that we all have free will to do whatever our intension is in this world. Somebody takes a stone to build a house (good intension), and someone use it as a means to fight (bad intension). Fire can be used to warm, but also to forge a steel weapon. World is neutral, at our disposal, and it depends on us what we make out of it.
This an extremely underrated song from the Tool catalog. I loved this song from my 1st listen. Especially the 2nd half when Adam and Justin take the lead and all the crazy percussion starts up.. It really is some of the most beautiful music they've written.
We come in pure. We first see the stone to build, and we use fire to warm us and light the way; however, we then use stones and fire as weapons to isolate ourselves. Awesome song.
Intension>Right in Two is just too good, and Justin's work on this is just so trance worthy I could live in that bass line. and yes Skullz this whole song is like a beautiful mushroom trip!
As many have said, this takes you down from the crazy and leads you to the next trip. All calm and easy. Awaiting some beautiful lyrics with Right in Two.
So the percussion instruments Danny samples (or perhaps they're live on this track) are Indian tabla drums. Danny studied with a guy named Aloke Dutta around the time of Aenima.
Pretty sure he plays live instruments for the recordings. I saw an interview once where he talked about his drum setup, and he had a circular electronic drum he referred to as his "mandala" pad. He said it was for all the random percussion instruments they used to record, so they didn't have to lug them all on stage.
This song discusses one's intentions, whether they be positive and constructive like using the stone in verse one to build a home, or something negative and destructive like using the same stone to hurt or kill someone.
I've said before that I really dig your music. But man...that rap at the intro to all your current videos is ridiculously catchy. I've heard it so many times now that I know it by heart....and have literally found myself mumbling it to myself at work. Glad you liked Intension! Lots of people talk about it like it's a minor song...or just a prelude to Right in Two. But I've always thought of it as a proper song...and one of my favorites. Yeah, it's short......for a Tool song lol! But still longer than most pop songs. And I like how different the vibe is. It's always sounded like black magick(with a K!) to me lol. It's got the cool occult mood that must scare the crap out of those Q-Anon simpletons... :P
im sure you noticed the backward track of maynard saying something at the beginning. if you reverse it and listen to the track backward you can hear the voice track normalized. he is saying, "Work hard. Stay in school. Listen to your mother. Your father was right."....................... no joke. reverse it and listen to it yourself. its amazing
I saw this song live. Really did not expect it. Didn't even know what song they were playing until the lyrics started. All I can say is that I was in awe, felt as though I was in the presence of something beyond the band themselves. I was in a standing area of an arena right in front of the stage looking between each member. Easily the most profound live band experience. Edit: funny, I only just now realised that the above experience happened two months before the bad psychedelic experience I mentioned on your last video 🤔
talking about rosetta stoned, that song is their peak in terms of complexity, diversity, time signature changes, vocals creativity, tribal percussions... and the other songs are just almost at the same level. rosetta stoned is out from this world, just like aliens.. lol.
This is my favourite song on the album. Justin popped off. And the last bit kinda has South African House rhythms. Danny mentioned listening to it in an interview. And the ritardando gets me every time 🤘
