@@emperorcubone I understand, I think my comment is misunderstood. When you talked about “not being worse off then Katy having a Teddiursa” I thought maybe people didn’t see the connection with Teddiursa & the bug Tera type. I find the connections/reasons behind the gym ace’s tera types interesting 🤓
These are all a bit random imo. 1.The Pokémon don't really fit the personality of the gym leader most of the time or have anything to do with their non-gym activities. For example, Erika is a refined and elegant lady, an awkward duck with a leek feels a weird fit to me. 2. I don't personally think restricting them to their native generation was a necessity. one of the coolest parts in Scarlet and Violet was seeing the gym leaders revisit previous generations with their aces, and revamp them with terastalization. 3. The Pokémon, in many cases don't really have any cool or flashy way to make use of the type you gave them. A flaming fearow is kind of cool in theory I guess but does it get any fire moves or anything like that? What is an Ekans really getting out of the water type? This is not so big a deal though because even in the game the tera types tend to be a little arbitrary, but I usually felt they fit somewhat at least. Not to say I disagree with 100% of these and of course everyone is entitled to their opinion.
@@Watch-0w1 I would almost prefer for Blaine to just have a moltres XD He is pretty strong, it wouldn't be so crazy. Actually having a mythical pokemon fits his renegade scientist style more than having an imitation I think.
I mean, not like they made much sense in SV either. Save for Katy, Brassius and Ryme, the rest are all pretty random, and even out of them Ryme was the only one with a connection to her personality
Haha, that's true; she only has one Normal type now. I imagine if we ever see her again she might have a Jigglypuff instead, but then again her gym is shaped like a Clefairy, so...
For the aloha elite four, I think Hala should have an incineroar and terastallize it into a fighting type. Molayne in the ultra games should have a vikavolt and terastallize it into a steel type as a reference to the vikavolt shaped machine in the trial. Olivia should have a machamp and terastallize it into a rock type because I think machamp fits her. For Acerola, I think it would cool for her to have one of the rotom forms and terastallize whichever one she has into a ghost type it would be cool to see them regain the ghost type they lost and it could be a reference to the haunted abandoned store her trial takes place. And finally, Kahili, I think Decidueye could work really well not only because its preevolutions had the flying type but also because it has good aim, which is something someone playing golf would need.
Honestly, I was expecting MandJTV to make this video, but the fact that you did it is pretty cool! Been a fan for a while and excited to see more hypothetical concepts rooted in modern mechanics instead of exclusively analyzation of what we have :3
I think Bugsy would use Slowpoke instead since Slowpoke Well is in the town and they are important there. As much I like the idea of Jasmine using Donphan, I think using Amphy (the lighthouse Ampharos) would suit her well too. Sabrina’s Venomoth is obvious, but it some games where she doesn’t have it, Golduck should definitely be her backup, especially given how the anime really played up both Psyduck and Golduck’s psychic connections. Honestly though, terastallization would be perfect for Johto given the type distribution. They could also do nods to the anime with things like Clemont using a Diggersby, Iris using an Excadrill, Cilan using a Stunfisk, Misty using Togetic, Brock using any number of Pokémon, etc.
I think turning Claydol into a Steel-type for Steven is better because it's actually good as it has Levitate, thereby making it more defensive. Turning Armaldo ruins the synergy as Cradily does not get the treatment for the two Fossils, as Claydol does not.
I think it’s important to remember that the terrasalised Pokémon in S/V also have a move which matches their type specialty. So I think some (not all) of your picks aren’t great on account of that, because u aren’t factoring that in
Perhaps, but Pokemon movesets change with every generation; Farfetch'd didn't always know Leaf Blade, but now it works perfectly, so just give Fearow a Flame Charge or something, or even have them exclusive to the leaders. They're no strangers to illegal Pokemon...
I don’t know about Chimecho. It has Levitate, making the Flying Type unnecessary and gives it the drawbacks that Levitate doesn’t. Same with Eletrike, but that actually makes more sense.
If Gym Leaders were like Paldea's, my choices for Kanto would be: Brock Geodude, Onix and (Tera)Chansey Chansey would be in reference to Brock from the anime. In addition to Chansey learning Rock Slide which would work as STAB Misty Goldeen, Starmie and (Tera)Jigglypuff Again being a reference to the anime because Misty was the person who was most concerned about helping Jigglypuff in the beginning. Jigglypuff's stab move would be Water and/or Chilling Water Lt. Surge Voltorb, Raichu and (Tera)Tauros The choice of Tauros would be because it is a robust pokemon with some electric moves Erika Tangela, Gloom and (Tera)Butterfree Butterfree's reason for the relationship of butterflies to flowers and for Butterfree learning moves like Energy Ball and Giga Drain to be the moveset's STAB Koga Weezing, Venomoth and (Tera)Parasect The Parasect's choice is for mushrooms' relationship to poisonous things Sabrina Mr. Mime, Alakazam and (Tera)Venomoth As you said in the video, this choice makes sense because it is already a pokemon on Sabrina's team Blaine Rapidash, Aracanine and (Tera)Rhydon This choice is in reference to the anime, in addition to Rhydon learning flamethrower and flare blast Giovanni Rhydon, Nidoqueen and (Tera)Kangaskhan As stated in the video, it makes sense for Giovanni to have Kangaskhan as a tera pokemon
I think Sneasel would've been a much terrastilization candidate for Falkner. Not only would it be a strong partner for Falkner, it's also blue and has a feather right on it
Even though you don't fight the trial captains in alola for the most part you still have kahunas with type specialties. And the elite 4. Also guzma and plumeria of team skull. Didn't have to skip alola completely.
Well sure, but they could change the movesets, or even have illegal moves on some of them, since gym leaders aren't above that. But really it doesn't matter much because you're likely gonna one-shot most of them with your own terastallized Pokemon...
If Terastalizing exists in these gens then Tera Blast will, but they could probably introduce the 80bp move around 2nd to 3rd gym, as things like Machop still have Rock Tomb
@@Squirtle_Squad_Supremacy There should be a Physical version of Tera Blast because for Physical Pokemon it is useless to them. For example hypothetically a Revaroom had Tera Water but doesn't have Water type moves and most Water type moves are Special but Revaroom is a Physical attacker with poor Special Attack. For now Tera Blast is unfair to Physical Pokemon.
Unrelated to the video, but I've forgotten how good some of these character redesigns are, since I haven't played many of the remakes. Pryce looking fly as heck. Also poor Flint, haven't forgotten his DP "Fire" team.
I'd give Clemont diggerby, a nice reference to his in the anime. Cheren could also get a starter that player nor hughe choose as a reference to him as a rival in previous games
I know this video is a year old now but I have some ideas I wanted to mention. (I’m totally not watching this directly after I just finished a newer video of yours) -Shauntal gets Basculin instead of Grimsley, both as a reference to Basculegion and a Dark-Type Basculin would overlap a bit with his connection to Sharpedo in his Alola iteration. If you’re worried about Jellicent overlapping with Basculin, just make it so only Marlon uses a Jellicent in this region. -Iris being able to Terastalize her Archeops into a Dragon-Type in her Champion team not only fits better than Lapras or Aggron each for their own reasons, but the defensive Type shift could make it harder to trigger Defeatist as well. -If a certain Trainer in Paldea’s DLC can get away with Excadrill, than I see no reason Roark’s Cranidos couldn’t become a Steel-Type for a very similar reference. Either that, or let him actually use a Shieldon prior to unlocking Byron’s Gym where he uses the evolved form. -I get the argument in favor of Karen’s Gengar, and while I like it, I think Vileplume might fit even better. Having a Dark-Type with “Vile” in its name could make for a very subtle reference to Weavile in any Johto games where Sneasel isn’t able to evolve, and/or she chooses not to use the evolution line anyways. Plus, it have the same mechanic of blocking Psychic moves as the Gengar example. -Hear me out on this one: Lt. Surge with a Clefable. I know it doesn’t fit him aesthetically at all, but Pikachu and Clefairy were originally supposed to be counterparts of sorts alongside their respective stone evolutions. Furthermore, you can obtain Clefable by that point in the game, and it does actually learn some Electric-Type moves via TMs. -Speaking of Clefairy, some fans have understandably what would happen with Whitney and her Normal-Type speciality now that Clefairy is a Fairy-Type, and… well, just look at that Gym design. You can probably see where I’m going with this one.
For Alola, I was thinking about the kahunas and the Elite 4, but I’ve only figured out two of them. Hala would easily work with Tera-Fighting Snorlax. Munchlax is found only on Melemele Island, the two have a lot of similarities to each other,… Hapu I think could get away with Bouffalant. It can learn Ground-Type attacks such as Earthquake and hit really hard, plus I think it compliments Mudsdale. Acerola, Olivia, Nanu and Molayne aren’t that simple though. I don’t really know what are good options for them. I want Acerola’s one to be originally dark-type, but I haven’t figured out which one. Edit: I decided to make a few changes and updates. First: Hala should probably have an Alolan Pokemon, and perhaps the best choice could be Midday Lycanroc, serving as a counterpart to Olivia's Midnight Lycanroc. Second: I realized that I made a mistake for Hapu, as Bouffalant is not in Alola. Although I am a bit hesistant on this choice due to fairly limited options, I choose Alolan Exeggutor. It does fit a bit though since it gets ground moves and you fight Hapu on Exeggutor Island in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Third: I might try to include the trial captains and other type specialists as well. Also I'm ditching the Acerola Terastallizing a Dark-Type idea for more options. I will still try to make sure that they come their respective islands though. Acerola: Another weird choice: Drampa. It at least is found on Ula'Ula island and can learn Shadow Ball. Olivia: Uhhhh.....maybe Passimian? It at least cancels out the Flying-weakness and learns moves like Rock Slide. Molayne: I unironically think his Terastallizing Pokemon should be Minior. It can learn Gyro Ball, is found near the Hokulani Observatory, and isn't used by any notable trainer. Nanu: I kind of want to give him Turtonator, since it complements Acerola's Drampa. It does learn Dark-Type attacks, so its plausible. Kahili: Since I don't know which island Kahili is from and she has canonically travelled the world as a professional golfer, I am not bound by any restrictions for choosing her Terastallizing Pokemon. For her, I suggest Seismitoad. Reasons: The Water-Ground typing represents the common Water Hazard and Sand Bunkers on many golf courses. Plus, it turns its Quad-Weakness to Grass into a resistance. Finally, it learns Bounce, so I think a Seismitoad getting a STAB boost for Bounce combined with how the move works is hilarious.
With Larry owning a Staraptor that terrastylizes to a Normal type. I feel like if something doesn't fit well for their Tera Pokemon, I think a dual type that shares it's typing with their specialty fits. Like a Flying gym for Winona being Chimecho is useless with it's Levitate. If she Terrastylized her Tropius, it removes the Quad Ice weakness etc.
An idea that I had for a video that you might be able to do is what if gym leaders instead of having pokemon of a certain type as their type specialty, what if they specialized in trumping a specific type? So for instance Brock would be specializing in trumping the rock type or misty would be able to transfer the water type. I think that would be an interesting take on Jim leaders.
Hmm, a whole region based on gym counters? I like it, it could still be harder than just one type since a counter-Water gym could have Electric, Grass, and even abilities like Water Absorb...
Steel Type Rhyperior for Byron: Pokémon can be used for mining and digging Is a Rock Type, calling back to his son Roark (With their Aces being the fossils) Just good in general. Kricketune could be used for Gardenia instead of Burmy.
The main reason why the gym leaders have those specific Pokemon is that they can learn an attack of their type. Some of these choices might not be able to learn an attack of the gym type.
I lol'd at the idea of Steel Tera Kricketune, since I came up with a Kricketune evolution, Kricketrax, that is essentially Kricketune as a DJ. It's not a Steel-type, but Kricketune evolves into it by leveling up while knowing Record Scratch, a Steel-type sound-based move that functions identically to Fake Out.
@@emperorcubone Yeah, I didn't even get into its Ability, Phat Beats, which is basically Speed Boost for Special Attack. If Kricketrax can survive a few rounds, its Bug Buzz is going to smash ALL of the eardrums.
@@emperorcubone It's equal for literally all Pokemon, is the most balanced and brings the most nuance into the gameplay out of any of them. Also you can't spam it, but it does that in a good way and like Dynamax only limiting you to Gym fights
For Brock, I think a steelix terastlizing to rock would work For Giovanni, Persion could terastlize to ground type How about Farigiraf (or Girafarig)for Morty? For Lance, Aerodactyl to Dragon
Regarding the S/V gym leaders’ Terastal Pokemon, the only one that made sense to me was Iono’s Mismaguis with Levitate for an ability, terastalizing into electric type to subsequently have no weakness. None of the others made sense because my Pokémon with attacks that were super effective against every gym leader’s other Pokémon just also knocked their terastal Pokémon out with super effective hits. It feels like the game designers missed the point of their own game mechanic when deciding which Pokémon to give the terastal to for each gym leader, because very few of them truly took advantage of the type (at least defensively). In this video I would have liked to see Pokémon that could strategically make use of the Tera type, rather than make use of it thematically or lore-wise.
I do agree for the most part. I think Sudowoodo with Brassius was fine though given the whole "Sudowoodo is a tree, it must be Grass-type" from back in the day.
3:20 I could see this one thematically but also the idea of Morty terastalizing a Pokémon that does set damage regardless would be entertainingly pathetic
What about the Kahuna's? Having terra types would make them drastically more challenging. And the Elite Four only uses 1 or 2 of these Kahunas. That gives you 7 type specialists who do battle you along your journey.
Corsola would be perfect for Jasmine: it can be caught nearby on Route 40, she used to be a Rock-type Gym Leader, and she uses one in Stadium 2. Stantler would also fit Pryce, because reindeer. I'd also like Bugsy to have a Gligar, since it's a scorpion. I think Scyther fits Koga being a ninja, and he has one in the anime. Sidney has a Zangoose in the Pokémon Adventures manga, an edgy Pokémon that fits him well.
Here's my list for Gen 1 Gym Leaders: 🪨 Brock: Zubat or Crobat, or Volpix, or Steelix (in the animé he had those). 💧 Misty: Togepi or Togetic (in the animé she had one), or Dratini (in the animé she wanted one). ⚡ Surge: Porygon (cuz it's like electronic or something). 🌿 Erika: Farfetch'd (I agree). 👁 Sabrina: Venomoth (I agree), or Haunter (her gym trainers use it, and in the animé Ash gave her one). 💀 Koga: Voltorb (in the animé he had a few), or Sandlash or Hypno (his gym trainers use these). 🔥 Blaine: Rhydon (in the animé he had one). ⛰ Giovanni: Kangaskhan (I agree), or Persian (in the animé he has one).
I feel like the first unova gym leaders would terastallize their lilpups into the opposite. So pansear leader would turn into grass to cover the water types. Pansage leader into water and panpour leader into fire.
I had an idea for Norman. What if he had the starter that was left behind by you and your rival, because he and Birch are such good friends? Plus all the Hoenn starters learn Strong normal moves by level up, so they could be spamming those
Toxtriciry for Piers works as well since Ryme also uses one and terrastylizes it into Ghost. Come to think of it, what do you think Ryme and Piers’ relation is? Probably heard of one another, but maybe their rivals?
4 changes i would make: 1: I would've went with Bellsprout for Falkner cause of Bellsprout Tower being in Violet City 2: Lt. Serge should use someone from the Geodude line (maybe Graveler given the level availability) as a nod to it's regional variant. 3: I think Blaine should've used Rhydon cause he uses one in the anime. 4: Karen should terastilise her Vileplume instead of Gengar.
I would say that the Sword and Shield should have Pokémon from the other Gym leader that terastalizes into their respective types, especially Meloni and Gordy since they are mother and son. I'd say Bea gets a Golett and Allister gets a Lucario for Stow-on-Side (I'm not really sure about Lucario though), while Gordy gets a Cloyster (that was actually perfect imo) while Meloni gets a Gigalith for Circester. Though I could see an Eiscue/Stonjourner combo working given they're counterparts.
When you did this list, did you check to see if each Pokémon can learn the move that not only matches the tera type, but also belongs to the gym as well?
Surge having Porygon would have been fun But did you think about finding Pokémon that can learn their specialist TM? Eg Roxanne Seedot can’t learn Rock Tomb, but Nuzleaf, Numel or Trapinch could :)
I'd personly give Phobe a Wailord. As she has the tropical theme going on it would make tons of sience. Also whales explode after death, so I feel like that could fit it as well. Sharpedo would be the low hanging fruit but could also work
I personally think Drayden/Iris should terestalize Excadrill as a nod to Anime Same thing with Clemont as a nod to the anime although Chestnaught is a starter Jasmine should terestalize Amphy for story Giovanni should terestalize Persian for being the mascot However this is all my opinion
Sure, and maybe that could happen in the remakes, but if they were to terastallize in their games, those would have been made before their anime came out...
Brock: Chansey (anime reference) Blaine: Porygon (referencing his role in creating an artificial Pokemon) Falkner: Snubbull (Manga reference (police Pokemon) Whitney: Clefairy (Its current typing no longer fits her) Chuck: Donphan (Strong sturdy Pokemon) Jasmine: Ampharos (Obvious choice) Brawly: Krabby Phoebe: Marrowak (Ties her to the Alola region) Drake: Lapras (Sea Captain) Marlon: Krookodile (Returns it to its origin) Viola: Inkay (Squids are related to molluscs which are normally covered by the Bug type) Clemont: Diggersby (anime reference) Valerie: Banette (Her gym is a doll house) Bea: Raboot (Reference to Fire/Fighting starters) Alister: Drizzile (Matches Bea's starter theme. Spies are meant to be hidden like Alister wants to be)
I mean... if you give Brawly Krabby, Corphish makes more sense and if you give Bea and Allister starters, you also have to do so for Gordie or Piers with the Grookey line imo.
Clair and Morty would benefit the most from terastalize since Johto has less ghost and Dragon types. Morty could terastalize Marowak as a reference to the Pokémon Tower story in Kanto.
i mean, i feel like with misty we're not assuming that this is applied to their very first appearance but rather a re-appearance so she could have an anime pokemon like togepi. wouldn't lt. surge do better with a more war-based pokemon? primeape loves to fight. wouldn't koga have a more ninja-y pokemon? scyther or dugtrio would fit. i mean, the elite 4 from scarvio don't change their pokemon's types with tera types, but ok sure it's just more content. to be fair falkner is really weak so that unown suits him, even if pidgeotto would still clearly be more of a threat. ...why wouldn't jasmine use an ampharos? i mean, i guess you'd need a different pokemon for whitney but there are other pink pokemon. hoppip, corsola, and maybe even some pokemon that have turned into fairy types like clefairy would also work. 4:55 this assumes that that pun works in Japanese. though to be fair my best other options are wailord, comparing the water spout from a blowhole to steam like with the whole hot spring motif, and solrock, who has nothing to do with flannery and is a shared Pokemon with Tate or Liza. 5:07 it... just seems funny to you? i mean, i think it'd be cool if norman had a starter since he's the character's father and all. maybe a gardevoir in reference to wally. anything interesting. 5:25 there is no moon weather for castform to use... plus tera castform is confusing enough. i mean, technically they could both terastallize (i think that's not how it works in multi battles for balancing purposes but this is different) so maybe they get psychic type plusle and minun? would give them a nice spotlight. if you REALLY want only one terastallization for the two of them, though, maybe illumise since they're a support-based pokemon? there isn't really a duo of pokemon in gen 3 where one is a psychic type and the other isn't. 8:14 wouldn't she want a sound-based pokemon similar to what ryme has? the seismitoad line has some minor sound motifs and already feels much like a poison type. 8:35 elisa would probably have a more traditionally beauty-based pokemon similar to what tulip has. plus elisa has a big volt switch gimmick, so maybe cincinno's luxurious scarf and access to u-turn would work nicely enough? if anything klinklang probably works better than beheeyem due to volt switch access, even without the beauty motif. (plus i have no issue with cincinno as an ice type really so...) 9:43 i dont get how there's no elaboration on garbodor here, like what? gothitelle at least kind of looks like a writer? 9:47 Lilligant feels pretty generic, maybe Amoonguss because she has that whole sleepy aesthetic going on and Amoonguss learns Spore? 10:20 eh, furfrou's not her style. I'd expect more-so to see Gogoat on her team, since they're a mode of transportation and she's clearly advertising the new rollerskating gimmick. 10:35 feels like a weak link... i mean, i didn't really have a better option for viola but clemont very much uses bunnelby in the anime, and chespin+ feels like a weird choice from a gym leader. worst case scenario give *him* furfrou since there's at least a static electricity explanation and it lets furfrou be important or whatever. 10:44 -.-" bruh... what? we aren't trying to make interesting terastallization concepts here we're trying to give the gym leaders tera pokemon that suit them. given her bug motif i feel like it'd be fine to just have her and viola share a pokemon in vivillon. i would suggest literally any other gen 6 bug but TIL the vivillon line contains the only three new kalos bug pokemon. 10:56 but... she's all based on space. i mean, i guess limiting things to the kalos dex, which i've started to realize is a big issue in this case specifically, best i've got is carbink, who has a link to a legendary and sort of has a starry pattern. 11:03 STOP GIVING TRAINERS POKEMON BECAUSE YOU THINK THAT THEY'RE FORGOTTEN INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIT THE CHARACTER UUUUGH. anyway clearly needs replacement if my last comment is to stand so uh either replace clemont's and give wulfric furfrou because of the whole coat thing or i guess aromatisse who suits it much less. i dunno, pyroar and pangoro sorta suit him, better than carbink anyway. 11:12 ew. also wait i just realized that we weren't confined to the generation on the elite 4 that's nice. anyway i don't really have anything that suits her specifically better i just don't like fire type skuntank. 12:01 uh... are you allowing them because of gen 7 not getting any tera rep? cuz that's uh, not a gen 8 pokemon. i dunno if a gen 8 pokemon is to be used thievul sorta looks like kabu. 12:15 yeah i think it IS just the colouring... uh, i guess sandaconda suits her based fully on location? i dunno she likes rigourous training i guess a sandstorm makes training harder or something. 12:25 feels random but no-one else really suits allister well. gen 8 dex feeling rougher than the kalos dex for real. 12:28 BUT AUDINO IS A GEN 5 POKEMON. To be fair there's a startling lack of pink in the Gen 8 dex but Opal's favourite colour is purple so give her Sinistea, suits her really well actually. 12:36 ok you completely gave up on the generation limitation thing all of a sudden... to be fair best i got is how barraskewda kinda looks like a rock which doesn't really suit gordy himself. 12:48 or like, the dessert pokemon that is in generation 8. i mean, yeah, opal also has one, but still, if you even care about this generational rule 13:17 yeah, if sandaconda is already used for bea then he can just use Dragigalith. yikes
I like the video and its ideas, but some parts bug me a bit. 😅 Also, I somewhat want some of them (like all the elite 4) to not have special Pokémon, and just treastallize their signature.
Personally I think that instead of terrastalizing a random pokemon into the gym trainer’s types, what should have been done is the flip where the gym leaders had ace pokemon of their types but when terrastalized it would become a different type that either matched some coverage moves, or at least became a type resistant to a type that is usually super effective against their specialty
Fixing the Flying-type leaders (note that they’re BIRD lovers and like BIRDS): Faulkner should probably have a Golduck. Its the only non-flying type bird there is in Gen 1 or 2. It would be funny if Winona had a Latias/ Latios, but I think the best pick for her is actually Blaziken. It’s not weird for an NPC to use a starter, and I think that Blaziken keeps that bird love of hers going. Skyla should have a Garchomp. But the dex wont allow that, so I’d pick Golurk. Skyla loves flying rather than just birds, and Golurk is literally a prehistoric rocket. And Kahili should at least feature in the video. These are just opinions, but I think they fit the Gym Leaders’ characters better. And on a side note, what exactly do you mean when you say Nessa would be totally compatible with a Pincurchin?
I'm pretty sure Skyla uses a big heart bat so I don't think we're limited to birds, otherwise they should have just kept the "Bird" type from back in the day....
In my opinion they did the tera thing backward for esch gym leader. Yeah sure, it is cool to have a unique pokemon that doesn't normally share the gym type on their team. But what would be way more interesting is using tera types to offset their weaknesses. Are you using a fire type to sweep the grass leader without thinking? Not for long, as the leader transforms their ace into a rock type and hits you with ancient power. Then you've gotta think on your feet about how to deal with this new problem
Love the idea for this video but it moves really fast and its hard to keep, maybe videos like this could be broken up into multiple parts in the future? Lovw your content

Whitney should have a Nidorina, like in the anime. Or even Terastallize her (now) Fairy-type Clefairy into a Normal type
Haha, that's true; she only has one Normal type now. I imagine if we ever see her again she might have a Jigglypuff instead, but then again her gym is shaped like a Clefairy, so...
my thoughts exactly!
Make Clefairy a normal fairy type boom gym still makes sense
Least its better than the nightmare of Tera Normal Miltank
Been a fan for a while and excited to see more hypothetical concepts rooted in modern mechanics instead of exclusively analyzation of what we have :3
I was kind of surprised it remained untouched as well, I figured someone else would've thought of it by now!
@@emperorcubone sounds like a collab could work at some point
I think Giovanni should’ve Terastallized his Persian. In Let’s Go, he’s always shown with Persian close to him, but he never uses it in battle.
Persian would also be good; basically Giovanni has the most of anybody!
It would defo be his Persian, it's literally his signature
He does use it in battle in Yellow Version.
Clemont has a Bunnelby in the anime, so maybe just evolve that into a Diggersby and terastallize it into an Electric-type?
He already used Bunnelby, so anime Clement could use his Chespin instead.
@@emperorcubone like how the Starmobile all have a special move for their cars
give them all tera blast lol problem solved
I don’t know about Chimecho. It has Levitate, making the Flying Type unnecessary and gives it the drawbacks that Levitate doesn’t.
Same with Eletrike, but that actually makes more sense.
I always liked how some of the gym leaders had mons that weren't their main type but used moves that were that type.
"Gordie gets a Cloyster, which links to the OTHER Gym Leader, Melody."

*Concern*
**SWEET HOME ALABAMA!**
If Gym Leaders were like Paldea's, my choices for Kanto would be:
Brock
Geodude, Onix and (Tera)Chansey
Chansey would be in reference to Brock from the anime. In addition to Chansey learning Rock Slide which would work as STAB
Misty
Goldeen, Starmie and (Tera)Jigglypuff
Again being a reference to the anime because Misty was the person who was most concerned about helping Jigglypuff in the beginning. Jigglypuff's stab move would be Water and/or Chilling Water
Lt. Surge
Voltorb, Raichu and (Tera)Tauros
The choice of Tauros would be because it is a robust pokemon with some electric moves
Erika
Tangela, Gloom and (Tera)Butterfree
Butterfree's reason for the relationship of butterflies to flowers and for Butterfree learning moves like Energy Ball and Giga Drain to be the moveset's STAB
Koga
Weezing, Venomoth and (Tera)Parasect
The Parasect's choice is for mushrooms' relationship to poisonous things
Sabrina
Mr. Mime, Alakazam and (Tera)Venomoth
As you said in the video, this choice makes sense because it is already a pokemon on Sabrina's team
Blaine
Rapidash, Aracanine and (Tera)Rhydon
This choice is in reference to the anime, in addition to Rhydon learning flamethrower and flare blast
Giovanni
Rhydon, Nidoqueen and (Tera)Kangaskhan
As stated in the video, it makes sense for Giovanni to have Kangaskhan as a tera pokemon
I think Sneasel would've been a much terrastilization candidate for Falkner. Not only would it be a strong partner for Falkner, it's also blue and has a feather right on it
It also would have been seen before the 13 hour mark of the game, so that'd be a huge bonus!
0:41 man says "starting Encanto" and proceeds to talk about Bruno (based)
I prefer "Surface Pressure," but it's still good...
Even though you don't fight the trial captains in alola for the most part you still have kahunas with type specialties. And the elite 4. Also guzma and plumeria of team skull. Didn't have to skip alola completely.
Don't know why but for Misty I immediately thought of Togepi
Only problem, a lot of those Pokemon don't have type coverage when they Terastalize
@@emperorcubone true, just.. A lot of these mons don't fit. Just my opinion. Great video, regardless.
Some of them are weird, like Brawly's toe shoes, but for the most part the updated designs look great!
I love your reasoning for which Pokémon you chose ! Your videos never let me down !
I'd give Clemont diggerby, a nice reference to his in the anime. Cheren could also get a starter that player nor hughe choose as a reference to him as a rival in previous games
I think Gardenia should follow up with Artazon guy's Truleewoodo, or something like that
I know this video is a year old now but I have some ideas I wanted to mention. (I’m totally not watching this directly after I just finished a newer video of yours)
-Shauntal gets Basculin instead of Grimsley, both as a reference to Basculegion and a Dark-Type Basculin would overlap a bit with his connection to Sharpedo in his Alola iteration.
Personally I Would Have Given Melony A Ice Type Gigalith Just Like How Gordie Has A Rock Type Cloyster
Maybe Lennora could have a fossil as a tera pokemon, since she has a history museum in her gym
For Alola, I was thinking about the kahunas and the Elite 4, but I’ve only figured out two of them.
Hala would easily work with Tera-Fighting Snorlax. Munchlax is found only on Melemele Island, the two have a lot of similarities to each other,…
Hapu I think could get away with Bouffalant.
I've never been so bamboozled with the thumbnail, Bonsly with the grass type terra type could have made sense for Gardenia :(
Thank Christ he didn’t stretch this over 7 videos
I like the idea of Kabu having a granddaughter that gifted him a stuffle and him desperately trying to figure out how to incorporate it in his team
Steel Type Rhyperior for Byron:
Pokémon can be used for mining and digging
Is a Rock Type, calling back to his son Roark (With their Aces being the fossils)
Just good in general.
Hah, that would actually be really cool! DJ Kricky would be so fun to use...
@@emperorcubone Yeah, I didn't even get into its Ability, Phat Beats, which is basically Speed Boost for Special Attack. If Kricketrax can survive a few rounds, its Bug Buzz is going to smash ALL of the eardrums.
For Falkner, I'd say Bellsprout/Weepinbell to represent Sprout Tower in his city.
Terastalizing is pretty much the best mechanic the series has introduced
I agree, it's by far the least intrusive, it just changes a type, which were already things you needed to know...
@@emperorcubone It's equal for literally all Pokemon, is the most balanced and brings the most nuance into the gameplay out of any of them. Also you can't spam it, but it does that in a good way and like Dynamax only limiting you to Gym fights
That and Mega Evolution are the best gimmicks the series had so far.
Totally agree
Visual appealing I would say giggamax
I'd be giving Wattson an air balloon shedinja and I don't even feel bad about it.
EmporerCubone: Gives Giovanni Kangaskhan.

Sophocles = Probopass
Acerola = Komala
Mina = Smeargle
Hala = Golisopod
Olivia = Sableye
Nanu = Crobat
Hapu = Gigalith
Molayne = Vikavolt
Kahili = Porygon-Z
For Brock, I think a steelix terastlizing to rock would work
For Giovanni, Persion could terastlize to ground type
How about Farigiraf (or Girafarig)for Morty?
For Lance, Aerodactyl to Dragon
If we're using updated Pokemon Steelix would be pretty great for Brock to use!
Blue could get a Normal Terrastal Extremespeed Arcanine !
I'm not a battle strategist, but it sounds like it could be a really nice ace for him !
No steel type ampharos? I’m disappointed XD
I would’ve thought Jasmine to have a steel Ampharos.
I really wish they’d bring a World Tournament style type thing. Just to give past. Gym leaders a chance to use mechanics like this.
3:52 "A giant polar bear"
Ursaring: *Is drastically smaller than Beartic*
really good selections 👍
i like how he gives Opal an Audino despite it only being in the crown tundra DLC lol
Let's not render abilities useless by giving Pokémon with levitate the flying type. Fan Rotom gets enough grief as it is.
This is my first time hearing about this feature so I feel like a kid who’s discovering a candy store for the first time 😅
Now do what if every Missing gym leader terastallized their Pokemon.
11:39 What about the Kahunas and Aloha's own elite 4?
Yes
Sawsbuck winter form as Tera ice for Bryce shoudld fit better than Cinccino
Here's my list for Gen 1 Gym Leaders:
🪨 Brock: Zubat or Crobat, or Volpix, or Steelix (in the animé he had those).
Plus all the Hoenn starters learn Strong normal moves by level up, so they could be spamming those
That's pretty cool, like that! More games should do that like Kukui or Leon.
@@emperorcubone why are you not uploading today
Toxtriciry for Piers works as well since Ryme also uses one and terrastylizes it into Ghost. Come to think of it, what do you think Ryme and Piers’ relation is? Probably heard of one another, but maybe their rivals?
4 changes i would make:
1: I would've went with Bellsprout for Falkner cause of Bellsprout Tower being in Violet City
2: Lt. Serge should use someone from the Geodude line (maybe Graveler given the level availability) as a nod to it's regional variant.
3: I think Blaine should've used Rhydon cause he uses one in the anime.
4: Karen should terastilise her Vileplume instead of Gengar.
Ec-chooses kangaskhan as Giovanni's Tera
Persian: Am I a joke to you?
I like this idea this is a cool video emperor cubone
I would say that the Sword and Shield should have Pokémon from the other Gym leader that terastalizes into their respective types, especially Meloni and Gordy since they are mother and son.
I'd say Bea gets a Golett and Allister gets a Lucario for Stow-on-Side (I'm not really sure about Lucario though), while Gordy gets a Cloyster (that was actually perfect imo) while Meloni gets a Gigalith for Circester. Though I could see an Eiscue/Stonjourner combo working given they're counterparts.
Interesting concept! I'm curious if any of these Leaders have mons on their Gen 5 teams that could relatively be their Tera mon.
I was hoping you'd chose Drifblim for Flint. Yesterday I caught a Fire tera type Drifloon and i named him Flint
Nice! If only it were shiny to match his shirt color...
Brock not having a Vulpix or zubat was definitely a missed opportunity
Eelektrik for skylar would now be a levitating flying type
You're right. Better have her terastallize a Rotom Fan into a Flying tpye...
When you did this list, did you check to see if each Pokémon can learn the move that not only matches the tera type, but also belongs to the gym as well?
"Then we've Nessa, who seems like she could be totally compatible with the sea-dwelling Pincurchin." I hope nobody clips this out of context.
Surge having Porygon would have been fun
But did you think about finding Pokémon that can learn their specialist TM? Eg Roxanne Seedot can’t learn Rock Tomb, but Nuzleaf, Numel or Trapinch could :)
I'd personly give Phobe a Wailord. As she has the tropical theme going on it would make tons of sience. Also whales explode after death, so I feel like that could fit it as well. Sharpedo would be the low hanging fruit but could also work
I personally think
Drayden/Iris should terestalize Excadrill as a nod to Anime
Same thing with Clemont as a nod to the anime although Chestnaught is a starter
Jasmine should terestalize Amphy for story
Giovanni should terestalize Persian for being the mascot
However this is all my opinion
Sure, and maybe that could happen in the remakes, but if they were to terastallize in their games, those would have been made before their anime came out...
13:10 but I think he would use the low key form, to differentiate it form ryme’s ghost type amped Toxtricity
Yeah, that'd be fine, that's the form I used in Galar...
Ryme uses the low key form tho
@@mkdesire1486 no it was high key, I ruink
Brock: Chansey (anime reference)
Blaine: Porygon (referencing his role in creating an artificial Pokemon)
Falkner: Snubbull (Manga reference (police Pokemon)
Whitney: Clefairy (Its current typing no longer fits her)
Chuck: Donphan (Strong sturdy Pokemon)
Jasmine: Ampharos (Obvious choice)
Brawly: Krabby
Phoebe: Marrowak (Ties her to the Alola region)
Drake: Lapras (Sea Captain)
Marlon: Krookodile (Returns it to its origin)
Viola: Inkay (Squids are related to molluscs which are normally covered by the Bug type)
Clemont: Diggersby (anime reference)
Valerie: Banette (Her gym is a doll house)
Bea: Raboot (Reference to Fire/Fighting starters)
Alister: Drizzile (Matches Bea's starter theme. Spies are meant to be hidden like Alister wants to be)
I mean... if you give Brawly Krabby, Corphish makes more sense and if you give Bea and Allister starters, you also have to do so for Gordie or Piers with the Grookey line imo.
For Melony, what about turning Coalossal into an Ice Type?
Imagine you battle Liza and Tate with a Terastalized Electric Swellow.
It would bring back memories of a certain moment from the Anime.
Hahaha! What a ridiculous episode...
Clair and Morty would benefit the most from terastalize since Johto has less ghost and Dragon types. Morty could terastalize Marowak as a reference to the Pokémon Tower story in Kanto.
4:18 A nice reference to Mega Charizard X!
6:33
12:26 Yup!
misty having a water tera togepi would be cute
i mean, i feel like with misty we're not assuming that this is applied to their very first appearance but rather a re-appearance so she could have an anime pokemon like togepi.
wouldn't lt. surge do better with a more war-based pokemon? primeape loves to fight.
wouldn't koga have a more ninja-y pokemon? scyther or dugtrio would fit.
i mean, the elite 4 from scarvio don't change their pokemon's types with tera types, but ok sure it's just more content.
to be fair falkner is really weak so that unown suits him, even if pidgeotto would still clearly be more of a threat.
...why wouldn't jasmine use an ampharos? i mean, i guess you'd need a different pokemon for whitney but there are other pink pokemon. hoppip, corsola, and maybe even some pokemon that have turned into fairy types like clefairy would also work.
(plus i have no issue with cincinno as an ice type really so...)
9:43 i dont get how there's no elaboration on garbodor here, like what? gothitelle at least kind of looks like a writer?
12:48 or like, the dessert pokemon that is in generation 8. i mean, yeah, opal also has one, but still, if you even care about this generational rule
13:17 yeah, if sandaconda is already used for bea then he can just use Dragigalith.
yikes
I like the video and its ideas, but some parts bug me a bit. 😅
Also, I somewhat want some of them (like all the elite 4) to not have special Pokémon, and just treastallize their signature.
What about the Kahunas (Hala, Olivia, Nanu, & Hapu) & Alolan Elite 4 (particularly Kahili, Acerola, & Molayne)? >.>
Fixing the Flying-type leaders (note that they’re BIRD lovers and like BIRDS):
Faulkner should probably have a Golduck.
@@emperorcuboneThat’s why I said Skyla can have a Golurk- she likes flying rather than birds, as I said.
Clemont should get digersbye or chespin because of the anime and to resurrect the "bunnlby is totally an electric type meme"
Yeah, it felt a little fast as I was goning through, but I didn't want to make it an hour long, since I usually would break them apart by region...
I love region specific videos. Always remember that when doing something creative its ok to just take it one piece at a time. Youre doing great btw!
Sophocles could Terastalize his Skarmory

…the Pokémon that’s terastallized is supposed to be able to learn a move of that type.
I think that bugsy would have a terastal bug type slowpoke, his Town is full of them
