It went so well till we got to the inside. The sleeve way of housing the discs is abismal. Who thinks this is the best way to house a disc. What a bummer.
I went through the forums and surprisingly found out a lot of people likes those, I hate them, apparently it's because the disc is behind the picture and it takes less space in the shelve
Be careful with your discs. Especially the 4k discs. I had to get my set replaced. Pulling them out just once produced scratches and caused permanent playability issues. Getting the set replaced was also a nightmare. On the second set, I pulled the discs out and housed them in a normal case. Will not be using the original sleeve packaging again. The artwork is beautiful, but the disc housing design is disastrous.
I imported mine from amazon uk global store ... ive been forced to use those SHM Japanese inner sleeves for cd so I can safely pull the blurays in and out. Great packaging except for the tight fitted blurays. The films themselves are georgous presentations
The artwork is nice, I'm interested in the 4K of the extended/longest version (I have it on blu-ray and imo the longest version is the best, it adds background to Sully's character at the beginning when he's still on Earth and lots of extra bits throughout the movie that are all improvements). Unfortunately the way the discs are housed in this set is a complete deal-breaker...it's scary that someone thought this style of packaging was a good idea, it's even scarier that it got "green-lit" for mass production.
I made Amazon pay for and 8 disc (cheapest option) blu-ray case to transfera these to cause those slipcovers make it way too difficult to remove the discs.
Hi Richard, just to let you know Zavvi has got both this and Avatar the way of water 4K collector’s editions on their website 👍 just out of curiosity how did you get this item from Best Buy in the UK?
Nice artwork, but ruined by the disc sleeves. A normal digipack with proper disc holders would've been better, and print the inner artwork on the discs instead. Looks like the blu-rays are multi region though, which is good for us in the UK
Nice set but, I can’t stand how the disks are housed. Going from the difficulty you had getting the disks out it’s a quite bizarre design choice. The disks will get scratched to hell.
I am planning to keep my 3-disk bluray extended edition set. I much prefer the special extended edition to the theatrical cut. I would have jumped at the upgrade if they had included Dolby Atmos on the extended versions, vs just the 5.1 DTS HD-MA.
The 4k extended set of Avatar has a new Dolby Vision grade that is better than the one in June. For that alone its worth the upgrade even if its the same 5.1 DTS. The 5.1 DTS for this movie is better than 90% of Modern Day Atmos because of the way that's its mixed.
I'm not buying this again although I live in the USA. I bought the original 4k UHD Blueray. Ripped it immediately to my NAS to Use with my Zidoo Z2000 Pro.
This version contains the far superior extended cut for the first film and a new and better Dolby Vision grading. It's totally worth the upgrade. Even the second film while its only theatrical contains a better new and better Dolby Vision Grading also.
Disney are obsessed with these cheap arse cardboard sleeves that will just scratch your disks over time. Frick Disney! Just failing on multiple levels these days.

I wouldn't mind sleeves if they'd just put some type of scratch-proof lining inside, something like a really soft felt or something

I’ve upgraded both avatar 4ks for these two collectors editions. The sell for me was the different cuts in Dolby Vision.
Is the latest UK release of this also with vision and atmos?
Really nice, wasnt expecting the outer case tk be embossed
What does the 4th disk have on it

Which site did you use to import it please
wow.

I want one or wanted one so bad. Why did they house the discs themselves like that??
Nice set, I’m put off it by the way you have to remove the disks
Also they could have included the 2 x bonus disks on a 4k disk

I need this!! 🤯🌶️
Its a nice 4k collector's set of Avatar but housing the discs like that is not good at all.
The UK release in Feb isn't dolby vision right?
No....

Why just A on side?
They’ve done it on all the new release. Blu. 4k. Avatar and way of the water.
cheap and lazy Disney
Hate the way the discs are stored finger prints and scratched discs likely
Who ever designed this stupid method of hold the discs must have a few marbles loose.
Nice set but, I can’t stand how the disks are housed. Going from the difficulty you had getting the disks out it’s a quite bizarre design choice. The disks will get scratched to hell.
The big Star Wars set from several years ago was the same
I hate cardboard sleeves

@@ScruffyWarlordinterestingly, the owner of this channel has a Samsung OLED, so no DV capability.
My second tv is a LG OLED. That does Dolby Vision.

Why do they design such crappy cardboard sleeves? It's ridiculous that you have to fight so hard to get the frickin' discs out!
