I'm 32, and Black Adam was first announced with Rock when I was 16. I completely understand why this is so personal for him. It's the most passionate project he's ever had a hand in bringing to life. To work on something for that long and it not turn out the way you wanted it to is a different kind of pain

Henry Cavill didn't "tarnish the Witcher brand" that would be the writers who couldn't bother to properly adapt the source material which, incidentally, was the actual reason for Cavill's departure. Returning to the Superman role probably factored into the decision but he had been subtley expressing his distaste for the series writing during the season 2 press tour.
I enjoy Grace's vids, but it's getting tiring how she talks like she knows everything. HC was technically still Superman when he decided to take that role as Geralt anyways.

Sounds to me he made a good move…with amazon and 40k where has creative control…if no one wanted to work with him b/c he was difficult…then how’d he land this…Black Adam wasn’t good b/c of the Rock…if it was such a passion project he could have used more than 2 facial expressions…the cg of the end villain was horrible too.
What confuses me is the lack of communication between the former leadership and James Gunn when putting the Superman cameo into Black Adam. It feels like common sense that if they knew Gunn didn’t plan on continuing with Cavill, they wouldn’t put him in Black Adam. If they hadn’t given us that cameo, I don’t think the reaction would be half as big as it has been to Cavill being out as Superman.
Seems like Gun didn't fire Cavill before after the Black Adam film tho. Maybe nobody knew Guns plans until he just decided them
Don’t just accept Grace’s speculation as being spot on. Sources elsewhere state that Zazlov(?) made the call to blow it up after Black Adam crash and burned, he was not happy and that was the last straw. In this case, Gunn is being forced to replace Cavill and take the brunt of the blowback for Zazlov’s decision. Who knows, but Grace’s speculation is just that… speculation.
Gunn was just hired. WB-Discovery is a public company; they can't secretly hire/fire executives of significant subsidiaries months before public knowledge.
Plus I feel like Henry's superman return was really contingent on The Rock's Black Adam universe. And it looks like Gunn is really going in a different direction.
Cavill didn't leave The Witcher for nothing. He turned it down because the writers didn't have respect for the lore. It's called The Witcher not the Yennifer show. He was barely in his own show. But Grace hasn't reported that part.
She does omit a few important details to suit her agenda doesn't she.

It's also possible that was the story Henry tells to appear heroic to his fans, when in the background it really was about the money and/or desire for Hollywood stardom. We'll never really know, but I totally understand the desire to believe him.

@Bernard Knoll well we found out the motive of Cavill & it was never that Superman shit that made no sense... Cavill quit Witcher to do a massive deal involving his girlfriend of several years to start the Warhammer 40k universe for Amazon. Cavill is going to star & executive produce on the 40k show and Cavill girlfriend is the executive at Vertigo who is the production company that is getting the Warhammer 40k rights from Games Workshop that Amazon is going to purchase. Vertigo is getting the TV & Film rights

Generally, I have found that Grace has been spot on in her WB analysis. Grace didn't mention these factors, but I am sure that they factor in WB's calculations: 1. Henry C is getting old at 39. Filming most likely wouldn't start for two years, when he would be 41. If they really want him for a three-picture deal, over 10 years, he'll be in his late 40s. 2. Superman, as a property, is a mess. WB has another Superman, Tyler Hoclyn, on the Superman and Lois show. Lex Luthor is used in the Titan's HBOMAX show. I am sure that WB needs to wind down these old contracts, just to get started on a new one. 3. The original 1939 Superman goes into the public domain in 2033, so WB will need to establish a WB-owned copyright to Superman, while competitors come up with their alternatives. This is why this is called "show business," and not a comic book convention.
And 4. WB is apparently doesn't have that much money anymore so it makes sense that they don't want to renew the contracts of possibly expensive stars.
If any of that was true they wouldn’t of have asked him to announce his return back in October. 5. They just don’t know what they are doing.

39 is not old plus it's on WB for waiting so long their fault not Cavills. Robert Downy Jr didn't have to wait nearly a decade to get a sequel only to still be denied it he had 2 solo films even before the big team up Henry had to share his film with Ben as Batman and Gal as Wonder Women.

The ONLY thing Gunn did that was good was Guardians of the Galaxy and Dawn of The Dead. Peacemaker was OK. Brightburn, Belko Experiment, Guardians 2, The Suicide Squad and that Christmas special was BS. He hasn't really shown consistency as far as good writing.

Grace was confusing me with the way she was mixing up the Witcher seasons…Witcher season 2 is already on Netflix, Witcher season 3 is already shot and in post production, and that season will have Henry Cavill obviously, Liam Hemsworth won’t come in until season 4 and is still being written…

Well Cavill just got another gig with a self produced Warhammer 40K movie for Amazon, personally not into Warhammer but it has a huge following and has been gaining more recently. I know Cavill is a huge fan of it but it’s crazy that he now decided he has his own back whilst partnering with Amazon.

A lot of people like Henry as Superman but I always thought his portrayal came across underwhelming in MoS and BvS. Like Gal Gadot isn’t the best actress but she seems as very charismatic in real life and as Diana/WW. Never got that sense with him. Best of luck to him in other projects but yeah I am excited to see who will be the next man up.

This was some of the most heated tea Grace has ever spilt.
I'd argue that Henry is more of a star than the majority of actors working in Hollywood, including the likes of Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston. Henry has garnered such respect from the sci-fi and fantasy community that people flock to watch whatever he does. I'm not a Warhammer 40K fan, but I'm going to get into the lore in preparation for Henry's upcoming show.
With regards to actors like Chris Evans, Tarantino is right: they're astronomically popular in their signature Marvel roles, but not in other roles.
Henry at least draws an audience to whatever project he's in.

Because he knows how to brand himself, making you feel that he is representing you, that you are represented by him, an attractive, muscular, tough guy. But he can’t act. He is an idole, not an actor. Not an idole for young girls but for grown up men. And fans will argue that his acting is prefect, like some young girls argue that their idole sings like an angle. 😂😂😂

1) I said this about Dwayne and Black Adam. It felt like he didn’t want to put over Shazam. Which is very much a wrestling thing where older talent may not want to put over a new star.
2) I really want to see a Superman with a focus on Clark Kent. And just like people say we don’t get enough of Batman being a detective, I want to see Clark being a reporter. And maybe even have a workplace rivalry with Lois. I also want to see differences between Clark and Superman’s personalities.

While not having any emotional stake in this story since I have little interest in DC, apart from the fact that I loved Nolans Batman movies as well as Reeves The Batman, I still find all this interesting. I enjoy how you, Grace, analyse and breakdown the balance of creativity, and talent with business interests. As you might say: It’s fascinating!
There is NO way they ditch Cena and the cast of Peacemaker. That show is incredible and it is one of Gunn's own pet projects.
It isn't professionally objective if he doesn't get rid of them. Like Grace said, if you're getting rid of Henry Cavill Superman then all others involved in the DCEU should have to go and start from scratch.
i can see them doing a S2, and then ending it after that. If they're going to reboot they need to go all the way. Doom Patrol/Titans/ and maybe superman and Lois are disconnected enough to survive.

To be honest it is probably ready to shoot so they could get it out by the end of 2023 if that is the official death point, or maybe at the end of Peacemaker whatever happens at the end of flash that changes things also effects it (like say Antman getting dusted at the end of Antman 2 to lead into endgame). As a "toxic fan" who's never been right about anything, even if these movies are dead ends I would still like to see the movies that are shot and ready to go. They are far from perfect but to a lot of us they are still exciting for us. It feels like you want to see company's actors and fans crash and burn

Her facts are always on point. But I feel like a lot of this video was very mean spirited. Lot of trashing Cavill without even mentioning the other things surrounding it, keeps calling snyderverse fans a toxic fandom, it just kinda feels mean spirited. Like. And I am sorry, but not sorry, to say that that “fanbase” has been overrun and now ruled by the most toxic of people and they have been trashing Grace for so long just for reporting what she hears, and I mean really going after her character, so if she is on a tiny “I told you all so” cloud right now I am so down with it because I have said, and will say again, that she is being far too gracious to these assholes as it is. I love your channel. I have been a long time fan and always tune in. However, I feel that last few slate of DCEU films deserve to come out. For us fans who have enjoyed this universe, and supported it, we deserve to see it play out, ending with Aquaman 2. I don't see the harm as the new DCU is still a few years off. Also, alot of casual moviegoers (like alot of my friends who are fans) are really looking forward to Shazam 2 and The Flash, completely unaware of the changing of the guard and behind the scenes turmoil and drama. Again, I am a huge fan and love love love all of your hard work! Happy Holidays!
The problem with a lot of old DCEU fans (I'm one as well) is that they rather let Warner be buried in dept but release a couple movies that will certainly not be profitable, just so that a really, really small section of people are happy, than to take their time to develop a solid
slate of movies to hopefully make WB big again and be able to continue fund solo movies like Batman and Joker, while helping the DC brand stand tall next to Marvel for this new generation.

I will admit I was psyched when I heard Michael Keaton was coming back as Batman for The Flash. That, I do want to see. And I would've loved a Batman Beyond with Keaton as the older Bruce Wayne. Shame that won't be happening, I thought maybe even Tim Burton could come back to direct.
What is so bad about not wanting to stay in a franchise that you don’t believe in anymore. I was honestly really disappointed with Keanu that he stood behind the new Matrix. He managed to convince me to watch it and it was terrible. Actors are such sellouts most of the time.
Btw, Cavill is only 3 years older than Pattinson.

@@BeyondTheTrailer Here's what I think James Gunn should do with the DCU: Create a trilogy of Superman movies similar to what Matt Reeves is doing except in a lighter tone. They are in 2 different DC cities/states so it is not necessary to have them interact right away. Just because they exist in their own "world" doesn't mean they can't coexist in the same universe. Similarly, do the same with Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, etc and have them deal with their own supervillains in their respective geographic locations for at least their first two movies. Batman can then recruit them individually, with brief cameo in their third movies, bringing them together for the Justice League in the space tower to deal with existential threats that these heroes can't handle by themselves. They can still reference the existence of the other superheroes without actually making a cameo like Matt Reeves did with citizens in Gotham wearing Halloween costumes of other heroes. That will build the anticipation more for the audience to want to see some crossovers and big Justice League movie and makes more sense than finding a file, he stole from Lex Luthor, with folders on them because Batman would already be aware of them and be building a contingency plan before bringing them all together.

Well duh, most of those fans enjoyed a linear vision( yes flaws were prevelant) but a cohesive vision and style was there, the recent movies absolutely don't have that and Black Adam didnt have that sticking Cavill in the movie doesnt fix that. Marvel shifts from the comics a lot (i.e. Civil War), and fans liked that. The problem is not remaining true to the core aspects of a character
You mention loyalty in realtion to actors and the companies they work for. Yet I have to wonder why would we ever expect a actor to be loyal to a studio when these studios have become this massive businesses where making shows or movies is just a small part of what they do. Where they think nothing of cutting a actor lose at the drop of the hat with no loyalty to them.
Loyalty just doesn't play in an entertainment industry structured as it is today.

I'm 83 years old and Black Adam was first anounced with The Rock when I was 13 so I can understand why it's so important for Cavill to have worked as Superman for so long and not have it turned out the way he wanted.
