Don't care! Peacemakers absolutely the best thing that DC has put out since Nolan's trilogy.
Reboot will keep casting prices down. Set prices for cast over several movies; makes cost effective movie making. Wonder Woman 3 script was probably bad and made the decision on that.
I personally would like a reboot after using the current cast over the next 5 years. But they can’t afford the cast is my guess.
Patty getting rid of writer Allan Heinberg & the stunt team from the first movie for WW84 was a HUGE mistake!
Jenkins obviously didn't learn from her mistakes. That's what happens when you give an inflated ego total control! WW84 put a nail in the coffin for Gadot who was excellent in first film.
Patty's head got too big and though I see what she was trying to do with WW84, it didn't work. I am a Wonder Woman fan and collector going back to the 70's and even I don't rewatch WW84. I LOVED the first one though.

How the first was so epic & the second was so underwhelming is beyond me.
So it's understandable if the want to take a step back & revisit the plan for the 3rd.

I think the only reasons why Mamoa and Afleck's reps are still in tact are because they don't have the keys to their character like that. Afleck gave his back and was like "ya know what f-this just tell me when to suit up and show me where to stand." And Mamoa didnt care. He was just happy to be anywhere. I mean LOOK AT HIM. He just always looks happy whereever he is.

as someone who never hated gal as our wonder woman i’m pretty sad that we won’t getting a full trilogy. wonder woman being the biggest female superhero of all time as well she should have more than one trilogy by now considering everything she has done for the community! so yea i’m feeling down abt that :((

I would have liked to see where they would have taken Linda Carters character in WW3 if they had a plan for the two of them to team up.
They can go with so many iterations. I just want the character comic accurate and on par with Super Man.

A word about Captain America: The First Avenger. This movie is the bedrock of Captain America character demonstrating Steve Rogers heart and humility. The scene where skinny Steve jumps on the hand grenade says more about the character than 10 pages of dialogue. Joe Johnston was the perfect choice to set the story in World War II after his "The Rocketeer". "First Avenger" didn't make a BAZILLION dollars but it did set up Captain America for a great story arc.
Great points about the film and its helmer! It had a montage-laden second act that I would have loved an entire film on, but the stuff that IS there is so solid and some of the MCU's best.

This film was released well before the MCU became the giant that it is now. Black Adam was released in an environment where comic book films are well established. Comparison between the two is mute.
I’ll just say that the biggest loss in all of this is that we never got to see Ray Fisher reprise his Cyborg roll. He killed it in ZSJL
I feel like keeping his Suicide Squad and Peacemaker would just be disastrous because those projects have Harley Quinn who met Ben Affleck’s Batman, and Jason Mamoudzou and Ezra Miller were in Peacemaker. I Personally feel like the DCEU was salvageable if everyone checked their egos at the door and let someone take charge and fall in line, but if their gonna completely reboot the Gunn is gonna indeed reboot then he must say goodbye to The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.

First Avenger works, but it's not a tone you can carry over into modern day. The tone worked as a 1940s WW2 film. Joe Johnston Bread and Butter. However, it underpins the whole Cap. America section as the sacrifice. The tone had already changed at the end with Fury. The final line of "I had a date." is the core of Steve Rodgers' Cap's narrative ark. And that Ark only works because, at some level, First Avenger works!
First Avenger is so underrated. Best solo film of phase 1.
Exactly. First Avenger is a pulp film like The Shadow or The Rocketeer.
Johnson was a great choice.
The issue is, Indiana Jones aside, those pulp films never do astoundingly well. I just don't think that pulp genre connects with people that much.
I'll tell you this though, the contemporary era, spy thriller cap works BECAUSE you saw that period pulp version of him.
I like the film,but I also believe it had to exist.

Thanks Grace. I am no longer hosting any more DC movie screenings for my sci fi club. I'll very likely watch these films by myself in the theatre or on streaming. And this is very sad because I've been a lifelong DC fan with no interest in Marvel comics. But I can tell you. When we have Marvel screenings, the audience is alive. They laugh at jokes I don't always get, and there is an energy in the theater that simply isn't there for DC. This truly is the last nail in the coffin.

if you're hosting a club for science fiction, don't even bother with these comic book movies that rely on magic and fantasy to carry their logic. look for movies that back their concepts up with real science.

The thing I love about the MCU is we get longevity in characters playing roles. If they are constantly switched, it sorta takes me out of the whole experience. DC cinematic universe will never equate at this point

They didn’t want a repeat of WW84, she didn’t want to rewrite the script.
Wonder Woman 3 could very likely still happen.
The MCU castings were all slam dunks in the 1st Phase. DC rebooted then they would have the chance at those slam dunks. A reboot might be the thing needed to gain the interest of the general audience.
I like Captain American 1 a lot. It's a fun period piece and really makes you feel like he is a fish out of water in the later movies which is what they want.

People would remember it better if it had more action, that was the only knock.
i really liked gal's wonder woman, and her first movie is still excellent (the no man's land scene in particular) i even enjoy her in the movies that aren't great (including WW84) so it's sad to see her go... at the same time, i'm excited to see a new incarnation, and that hopefully we see more of the amazons too! (very excited to see if they bring in nubia and artemis)
As a huge Wonder Woman fan this news have made me so sad. I truly hope Gal can stick around as Wonder Woman at least. It’s safe to assume that the script wasn’t in line with what Gunn had in mind for his new universe but I hope they rewrite the script and make the movie eventually.
Truly, cant they rewrite the script and keep her? I don't blame Gadot for 1984, and while I trust Gunn's vision, I really enjoyed Gal Gadot's portrayal of Diana.
As a wonder woman fan I m kinda happy. I don't trust Jenkins after the shitshow Wonder Woman 1984 was and Gal is not a good actress.
I still don't understand who allowed Wonder Woman 1984 to be released? Campy themes and silly villains have always held wonder woman back. TF was that movie even about?

Can we just finally admit that the DC studio drama since 2017 has been INFINITELY more entertaining than the movies. A part of me doesn’t want these crazy headlines to end!
Since I’m not a DC fan, their behind the scenes drama and the on-screen issues of some of their films has been very entertaining. But with no end in sight, I’m starting to feel bad for all those who truly love these IPs. This must be so frustrating for the fans who just want great movies…

I think after WW84, any goodwill carried forward from the first movie, pretty much fizzled out with the 2nd movie. For me personally, I just wanted them to up the ante, and give her some real high stakes, high energy stuff, like in BvS with her introduction and fighting Doomsday, that was really cool. Instead, they just kinda fizzled out and the movie just tapered off, and by the end I was just like "Well... yeah, ok.... sure, I guess that makes sense...". But I have never felt any interest in watching it again, or talking with anyone about what may come next, because the last movie made the character feel so bland and low energy.
Exactly!!! The first origin movie will be in heart for sure. They should have explored more of ww characteristics and high energy super power hero from from BVS and more. Glad gadot would have definitely been in a better spot. Not her fault.

I am heartbroken! Seriously, I thought Gal was the perfect Wonder Woman I’m 59 years old and never thought I would see a good Wonder Woman movie. The first Wonder Woman was fantastic WW 1984 not so great but I still like that a lot. I was really looking forward to a third chapter. I can’t imagine anyone else playing wonder woman, other than Gal. I’m fine with them replacing Patty Jenkins, but not Gal.

They didn’t replace her, she quit. They asked her to resubmit another script and she got all holier than though, emailed the web address for the definition of character development and quit. After 1984, she’s lucky they didn’t fire her

I’m still in the group who believe that DC should have rebooted immediately after Justice League, you can’t have the most anticipated film of your universe fail miserably and think it’s okay to continue, after the Black Adam failure and now the cancellation of WW3, it should be clear that need to end it. But WB does not have a good track record of good decisions, not the biggest DC movie fan but I’m genuinely sad we won’t get WW3.

The first wonder woman was received very well by pretty much everyone but with the second she totally missed the mark. Perhaps ww3 is their biggest chance for a come back.

Im sad to see Gal go. I know her other movies havent been great but her Wonder Woman to me is perfect. And 1984 i think had some really touching moments. I think to just discard her and that version of the character is horrible specially with how incredible the first movie is. Id love to see the 1st movie remain semi-canon and have Gals Diana play in the new DC. Ala Daredevil in SheHulk . Sort of like a soft reboot

The DCEU has an amazing cast, it’s a shame we have to loose them because of the problematic universe they’re stuck in.
I'm on the fence about this news. On one hand I can see Gunn not wanting to play ball with Duane Johnson leveraging Cavill to boost his on career as Black Adam. I also feel that Gunn does have some interest in the actors as he had them cameo in Peacemaker. Maybe this is a way to get a feel about how DC fans outside of the Snyderverse fandom feel about the actors moving forward. We may want to wait for the new slate before rushing to judgement as I feel the final decision is still kind of fluid at this point.
I wonder what they will do with the Batman? I can't see them keeping it in it's own separate universe while unifying and rebooting everything else but I also can't see Matt Reeves wanting the universe he started to be taken over by James Gunn

This isn't the official plan. There is no reboot. Pattinson is staying where he is. No one is being recast.

While I don't personally have strong feelings about whether there should be a sequel to The Batman, the plan is still to do at least one sequel, though it hasn't been greenlit yet afaik so this could change. And it will continue to be in its own universe, I believe

WW/Gadot not getting a third WW movie to round out a trilogy for her (as well as make up for WW84 being subpar) is a shame. WW/Gadot was good relative to the material she was given, being a standout element in BvS (if in a limited supporting role), JLA (either version), and WW (with WW84 being the weak point to be made up for by a third WW movie). Hopefully she can get some sort of presence/wrap up in the Flash movie or similar...

First off thank you so much for the super late report Grace and it is sad to see this happen to Wonder Woman but it's once it needed to happen. The first Wonder Woman movie will be one for the books that's for sure it definitely look forward to the future of the dceu
This call had to be made eventually. It’s tough but I think The Snydercut was incredible and unprecedented, and a strong note to end on for Snyder’s attempt at a DC universe.

No Batman movie or Wonderwoman movie introducing them was stupid. The idea of introducing the Justice league through Lex Luthor's files didn't even make sense.
@@Antwannnn deathstroke is a teen titans and Nightwing villain. Being with batman is the worst choice. May as well have magneto be in a avengers movie instead of in a x-men movie first
EDIT: The casting for Wonder Woman was a plus, and even BA as Batman wasn't too bad. They could have built something around HC, GG, and BA, but BVS and JL sucked big-time.
(And the extended cuts don't count; if you can't create a good story in the typically structure provided for movies, then you're not doing movies correctly; just aim for an HBO series or a typical film trilogy.)
I thought WW3 was scrapped so they can make a new script that will fit into Gunn’s vision for DC. I love Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman so much.. I can’t help it. I don’t want to see her go 😢

First Avenger did about as well as the first Thor, people forget that these were b-tier at best characters that the general public did not give a shit about before the first avengers movie.
I am interested in what tone DC is going to take overall.
The guardians of the galaxy series is my favorite out of the marvel movies. Plus, I prefer James Gunns style and humor compared to what marvel humor is these days.
But I guess James Gunn is gonna be behind the desk so who knows🤷♀

All the other Captain America movies looked nothing like first Avenger…Well, it was set in the 40’s tbf 😄 I’d say it justifiably was made with the intent of being an old school period adventure piece and Joe Johnston did a great job with it. It’s definitely an underrated movie in the mcu’s back catalogue. But of course they’d have to modernise the character when he’s thrown into our present day and I thank Johnston & the Russo brothers for turning Cap’s trilogy into a highlight of the MCU.

I read the original article, and I'm not sure why you're interpreting this as "Gal Gadot is done". The wording was specifically indicating that this particular Wonder Woman project is canned, which makes perfect sense given the transition. We still don't know how these actors will fit into the future projects that are being planned as we speak. Removing cameos from the Flash makes sense given that they don't want to promise more while they figure this out. I understand that this could indicate what you're saying, but at least consider that anything's possible until we hear otherwise.

I don’t think they will recast any of them, because the casting is part of the things that were done very well in DC.

I think WB should release remaining movies within the next year and we should have a one or two year gap so that we can maybe have refresher with The Batman sequel and Joker 2 and that Gotham PD HBO Max show and then we can movie forward with new movies with clean slate

It throws a bone to Synderverse fans..change up and reboot but keep the main actors.
I think he will move on from all of them - some are iconic in roles sure and very popular (Cavill, Robbie, Momoa etc) but picking and choosing will clash with new faces and mass reboot removes HUGE polarizing figures who have tainted the brand massively and there is so many from Ezra Miller to Will Smith, Ray Fisher to Amber Heard. There is also natural fact it's not a bad call to cast younger talent to spear head long term DC reboot plans going forward as by time any potential reboot starts your talking years from now and current snyderverse cast are not getting any younger.
There's also rumors that gunn has conflicts of interest since he's still supporting the competition.
In his position he can dismiss the previous ideas and "bad robot" his own way and if it doesn't work he still has that competitor relying on him. Just like....bad robot

It's crushing that we won't get a proper Gal Gadot WW trilogy, but this was probably a good decision. I hope we get more WW in the future, maybe with more faithful adaptions of characters like Cheetah and Ares.

The 2nd Wonder Woman movie was trash because Patty Jenkins thought she was a writer if this keeps us from seeing another WW movie written by her then i give a 👍to this decision.

Do you think announcing major changes to the DCU will be done before any of these dc movies release? Because i think this would affect their boxoffice potential if there's any... if so, do you think delaying the announcements would help them (WB-DC) either?
I think it will affect everything except for blue beetle. Blue beetle is its own thing so it should be ok. And that costume looks very comics accurate
All depends on if the audience for those movies is mainly current-movie fans, DC movie fans, generally, or wide/general-audience. Honestly the movies have been failing IMO because they've been getting even more insular and narrow-focused, even the two I'm looking forward to, Blue Beetle & Shazam 2.
The general audience won't care about WB's future plans, or the lack of any larger framework, but the rest of us, both Snyderfans & not, probably will vote "stream-it", which will just reaffirm any plans to reboot.
Shazam was never really connected to the whole universe and I am unclear how good Flashpoint will do not matter how good the movie may be. The new Aquaman… I don’t know it is so far out like Grace said do you even bother? Honestly the payouts required to make them go away will probably be the only thing that saves them.
I just can’t imagine a world where Gadot or Momoa are recast. I genuinely don’t know how you can do it at this point. They have become the faces of the characters. I think recasting would be detrimental. I think Momoa is just going to be playing Lobo on Peacemaker as well as Aquaman, and Jenkins WW3 idea was too final for the character.

I am sad to see Jason, Gal, and Henry to leave their respective roles. Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Superman can be saved with these actors. DC should merge the Synderverse with the Reevesverse and Todd Philip's universe. And make the movies connect. It should be one big story leading to a bigger story. Cheetah should be a tragic villain who is possessed by a dark god. Greg Rucka should be the writer of that. Lynda Carter should be Hera not Astoria.

And if RBatz is not gonna be the main Batman, they should let Matt Reeves finish his trilogy and end that universe, I'm a huge batman fan but I only want one to get character development over the years! I wanna see all the robins on screen and to if they keep doing this of different batmen, that will never happen.
I don’t think any of this is Gal’s fault. She did her job. She did it well. She didn’t write the movies. She didn’t direct the movies. Although I understand the decision, she really didn’t deserve this.

As much as I love some of these actors in these roles, I've been wanting a hard reboot with a clean slate for years now. Sucks for Blue Beetle but maybe it was made in a way it could connect to a new universe.

as a DC fan and snyderverce fan (I’m one of the fans who has never tweeted or been rude about my like for it) I am just so disappointed in DC and have been for years. I’m kinda done with them. For years it’s been nothing but disappointment.

I think the fans do show up, but the expectations are just unreal. Black Adam was suppose to make a billion dollars? The only marvel movies that made that made a billion dollars was infinitely war, End game, and Black Panther. The first two movies were lead up, and Black Panther was a cultural thing. WB is making their expectations too high.
Here is an idea. What if they re-shoot parts of flash to reveal a part of the multiverse where the same actors are different characters(like American Horror Story) and in a sense reboot DC, but from another universe. Could keep the legacy fans happy while re-casting the main roles ala lobo.

The SnyderVerse died when they called it a Cull de Sac and was dead between the release of JL 2017 and TSC in 2021. What died today is the HamadaVerse. Also dead is the JohnsVerse (SS 2016, the 3rd act of WW1, JL 2017 and Aquaman. Maybe even Shazam). Member then Johns took over a but after the WB cut of BvS released. What a long road.
