Conservatives just don't like Ezra because of the serious accusations against him. That's it. Stop assuming nonsense and spreading misinformation.
I'm not seeing this film because ezra Miller and the change to super girls look I was tempted for batman but no
BRAD BIRD IS DOING A FILM FOR SKYDANCE WITH JOHN LASITER
get that bag queen
FUBAR season 2 was announced last night during TUDUM, Grace.
A lot of people said they weren’t going simply because of Ezra… and a lot of people said they weren’t going because “none of this matters if they’re rebooting anyway”. Those two things combined means there’s no reason for most people to go see it in theaters, even if it is amazing. I loved Aquaman but I don’t even know if I’m going to see the second one… I’m sad to say it but… they may as well drop them on Max and fast track the new stuff instead of asking people to pay for a farewell.
James Gunn shot himself in the foot by dumping Cavill and Gadot and announcing the reboot when he did.
@jturner2577 He shot himself in the foot by not doing a full reboot
Inflation is why I don't see alot of these movies.
Also there’s also the fact that nobody was a devil’s advocate and asked if this was really necessary?
@@markn7519 These movies have already been shot. What do you expect them to do with all of them? Tax write off all of them? The reboot movies won't come out for another year or two.
If Gunn hasn’t realised that a complete reboot and atleast a year gap is necessary for general audiences to understand that DCU is a new thing, then his universe is also doomed
Gunn had no involvement with this movie other than promoting. The first DCU movie with totally new characters don’t release until 2025. Not sure what are you talking about.
@@shane0616 absolutely, the batman did well because it brought something fresh to the table, I think introducing meta human elements in the next movie is definitely the way to go
@@user-nn9je2hq8z yeah and now you have blue beetle and aquaman coming up this year and creature commandos and waller in 2024. 3 of which are part of DCU but one isn’t but that aquaman guy will play another character. In what world does that make sense?
Gunn isn't interested in what would be good for the DCU.....Gunn is interested in Gunn....he's going to make a DCU GotG hybrid because he doesn't have the ability to write outside that style and he's putting himself front and center
Agree, a hard reboot. Not a soft reboot but a complete, fresh start is what DC needs.
A lot of people are not seeing it simply because of Ezra. I was still surprised they went full steam ahead amidst all the legal problems surrounding them. Ezra became a PR nightmare for WB. A lot of people had wanted Ezra replaced with Grant Gustin. This probably would have saved the movie. Grant's loved as The Flash and has popularity with people without being caught up in massive legal troubles.
Do the general public know anything about Ezra? I think it's just confined to film fans on social media.
They would have had to replace Ezra a long time ago. Certainly by the time Gunn came in, this movie was already finished and it would have been too risky to do the extensive reshoots that replacing Ezra would have required
"If you want to tell your own story, get your own title."
Thank you so much Grace! Please continue saying this! There are so many screw ups over the last years that have stemmed from people taking IPs and then wanting to change everything until it's unrecognizable.
Why get the IP if you're not going to give the fans what they expect? Just make your own thing instead!
SImple answer - they don't want the risk of something new in terms of branding or advertising, but the producers/execs want to MAKE something new using these IPs.
It's worse though when they use IPs that haven't even been adapted before like Wheel Of Time - they are senselessly poisoning the well for the first honest adaptation to make a go of it 😤
I don't think Incredibles 3 is coming. Most of that team is gone. My friend was an FX Lead(he's in the credits and has a big IMDB page) who built the Voyd portals and was laid off from Pixar along half with that dept a month after Incredibles 2 came out and broke records. If you're wondering why Pixar movies are bad these days, their talent has been gutted in recent years.
Probably a good thing that we don’t get a part 3.
Incredibles 2 was good, but doesn’t come near the first
Well new talent can always be hired. A lot of young artists are extremely talented.
Also Pixar movie haven't been bad visually, it's just a few of the stories that haven't been as good. So if by talent, you were talking about the story department then yes, they need to do something about that.
But also, Incredibles is written and directed by one man, Brad Bird so a whole written team isn't all that necessary
She said she liked elemental very much.
They are still good.
Just not successful.
Elemental is better than incredibles 2 but all are long in the tooth these days.
@@shabberto Are you clinically insane?
I had said for months now that due to Ezra Miller's behavior, I would not reward The Flash by seeing it in theaters. There was a lot of talk online from people saying the same thing, and it looks like we all kept our word.
Good for you i like people who keep there word and stand by your principles
I kept it and intend to keep it and not watching even for free when it hits Max. Just won't see it at all
Yes I haven’t seen it and not going too! I just wish we could do it to Disney movies as well!
Same I would never support a criminal
Agreed. That there was no repercussions to Miller criminal behaviour & WB steamed ahead without any acknowledgment of this turned myself & obviously a whole lot of people off the project.
I think the numbers actually reflects how excited people are for films right now. Most people I know wait to see things at home
Most movies are flopping right now with the odd exceptions- idk people are pointing at Gunn like his takeover is an indication of why they’re flopping.
We've been spoilt. Plus Home Cinema is pretty darn good. A lot of theaters Digital projectors are not good, and often overly bright and sharp. At least at home you can adjust it.
@davidjames579 I find the big problems with cinemas now is actually the audio. So many have poor speakers, which you can easily fix at home.
Nah it cus ezra miller is a pervert that kidnapped a little boy and threatened the parents
No, people went out to watch super mario
What did fans want? Henry Cavill in an upbeat Superman film. Gal Gadot as WW in her own stories. Serious Batman films. No interconnected universe needed as it's played out. That's all Gunn had to do, but he and WB let their hubris get in the way. It was really simple, yet they messed it all up. They even took a pretty popular minor character in Shazam, and turned that into a mess as well. It really is this simple. Why no one can understand that, is puzzling. Sort of like how Transformers fans just wanted everything to be like that opening sequence in Bumblebee.
I just want them to focus on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, and each of them in their own films and corners of the DC U. After all 3 are worked out, that's when you can bring second-stringers and overall Justice League stuff.
Agreed!!
Exactly! That’s what I thought they should do that! 🙄🤦♂️
Or they can just skip straight to justice league
Yep. They need to keep it simple, get back to basics, slash budgets, and focus on good story-telling
You're right, and it shows that Marvel knew what they were doing, at least with Phase One - Iron Man (2008), Thor (2011), Captain America (2011), then bring them together with The Avengers (2012).
Hollywood is simply cannibalising themselves with all these releases so close to each other. Not everyone can pay 20$+snacks every week to see a movie. Between Mario, Guardians, Little Mermaid, Transformers, Spiderverse, The Flash, Indiana Jones, Elemental and soon Mission Impossible? *too much*
That being said, I thought The Flash was an absolute blast and it had been ages since I was so delighted after a movie. I feel bad for everyone involved as you can tell they've put a lot of care into the picture.
💯this is the issue. I think the average person may see a movie per month at most unless they are in a movie watcher club.
Studios are jamming themselves. Not to mention, so much content is created for streaming… anyone can be entertained just fine at home
The fact that a blue beetle movie exists is just crazy to me. They really thought to make one about that character over the many other popular DC characters????
That’s was from the Hamamda regime that was doing a soft reboot. It was also supposed to be on Max.
First
Batman has had 9 or 10 movies, Superman 6 or more. Why not give Blue Beetle one?
As a lifelong comic book fan, who has to various degrees loved this era of live action DC and Marvel properties, who readily accepts I’m the opening day target demographic for superhero films, the most excitement I could muster over The Flash was to launch my Cinemark app and see if the XD screens had available seats. There were plenty of available seats and I felt no fire to watch this opening weekend. Heck, after watching the initial trailer my immediate thought was, this’ll be fun to watch on (HBO) Max.
All of that rambling is to say, if that’s how I feel, I can only imagine how the casual, unmotivated movie goer feels about watching this film.
The fan-base of _Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves_ comes to mind. That was generally regarded as a good movie. But if the fans can't be bothered to go opening weekend, then come back next weekend(s) with "normal" friends, then they don't deserve more D&D movies. Same with supposed DC fans. I was talking with a guy who also wanted another Green Lantern (Corps?) movie, but it's been like 12 years (and counting). Same could happen to other DC intellectual properties if you don't show up.
Elemental was way too expensive. Its listed production budget is $200 million. Spiderverse and Mario were both $100 million.
So was LA Mermaid.
Sooner or later the Disney board is getting rethink their firing Chapek BIGLY
@donaldpaluga the little mermaid made its money back....
@@mssConstance15not yet
@@charlescorpuz4476 Exactly. Disney doesn't get 100% of that cume, it's split 50/50 with the theaters
@@donaldpaluga why do u think that way? Chapek destroyed Disney's animation studios which Disney is known for, relied too much on marvel which isn't even Disney's main brand.
The issues with these movies now are the same as back in 2012 when Warner Bros. decided they wanted to play catch-up with the MCU instead of just doing their own thing.
And aside from a few big hits they’ve been paying for that decision ever since. They waited too long before they attempted a course correction, the damage was done.
I agree. While the MCU was finishing their Phase 1 stuff, The DCEU should have started making their solo films. So then make the JL movie when MCU was in-between phase.
It's funny how the movies Grace loves (Lightyear, Little Mermaid, Elementals, pretty much everything Disney) do terrible at the box office, and the ones she hates do great. It makes me wonder if Grace is really out of touch with the movie going audience, or is there something specific with Disney and their audience? Is Disney just a slower moving version of Bud Light?
It’s called opinions dude
Grace’s preference with movies may not be what the general audience is interested in, but for the most part when it comes to the business aspect of movies, she tells it how it is
@@jaytea1453 she tends to side with disney opinions more but thats her opinion and shes entitled to it
@@mylessmith8059 It kinda makes me question her expertise in business aspect of movies when she said Universal knows Super Mario Bros wasn't going to do well, and the Little Mermaid was going to join the billion dollar club.
They were in a tight spot. They had to promote the film which you can't judge them for but all this talk about
"giving Miller a chance" after the movie is done sealed their fate.
Kidnapping minors while having access to drugs should NOT be tolerated in any capacity. Hopefully Miller is done after this. He can still move in with Amber Heard.
Ezra's career is over. There's no way he'll be hired now for any roles. He can go away and live in his ranch
@@ARBLACKx He should be living in a jail cell imo
I'd like to see Miller's Flash and Heard's Mera team-up to take on Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor. Special appearance by Hartley Sawyer as Elongated Man.* Bryan Singer directs.
*Because some old offensive tweets are somehow as bad as...yeah...
Im was really put off when some idiot who worked on the movie said something like “audiences will forget what erza miller did after seeing the flash”
Skipped Daliland because of Miller. Will not support this scumbag
Its pretty wild that there are too many elephants in the summer box office space and yet these other studios just let Avatar 2 completely dominate the winter 2022 box office by not releasing anything to compete with it.
Because they still think blockbusters are for summer movie season only. They will never learn.
Honestly I think, for as much as we are mad at WB for cutting their streaming content, I can't help but think that their new CEO is right. We're really seeing the results now of years of pushing towards streaming, which has not only invalidated physical media sales, but taken a bite out of box office, without replacing both of those combined revenue streams. In the rush to mimic Netflix, all the studios have been rushing to choke themselves out.
Streaming TV shows can be a good thing because if you can get the customer hooked on characters and their story you have them for at least the whole season. But rushing movies to streaming has been a very poor choice as now it is too easy to skip your local theater and wait at home.
This is so totally true!
The other studios forgot to mimic the most important thing, it's Netflix's UI that is the really impressive thing, Netflix's UI is like the lights on the Vegas Strip, just attracts interaction!!!
I’m all for the streaming model! This is the main fact that not many want to accept. Streaming will be the future and nothing is going to stop that. People just simply no longer want to spend tons of money to go out to theaters.
@@channelsofash not to mention that many people have a decently large TV and a sound bar/system so that also erases the need to visit the theater. And sadly, I'm in that camp.
I agree That a perfect storm may have affected this movie. I saw it and really enjoyed it, especially since MK’s Batman was the one from my childhood. But also I think many younger people don’t appreciate the movie theater experience as much anymore as older generations do. I am a high school teacher and I hear that sentiment from my students all of the time. They would much rather wait and watch it on streaming.
Agree. I love the theatre experience. Doesn’t matter how big my TV and surround sound is at home. But younger generations don’t care about all that. Movie night was a social event when I was growing up… date night too. But it’s not that appealing anymore for younger audiences
The Flash wasn't a disaster because Michael Keaton was to far into the past with Batman. Top Gun came out three years before Batman 89 and the sequel just made a billion dollars. There's something else going on with the film that people don't like. If anything Michael Keaton's Batman is he's bringing in the box office dollars.
Definitely got to make streaming delayed further down the road from theatrical release and/or expensive first-run viewing.
Parents are the same way too tbh, I hear from my coworkers all the time they want to wait for streaming, I don't understand it, to me I pay way more attention to a movie when I physically drive to a location to watch something, when I'm at home, I check my phone way too often and can't disconnect like I can at a theater.
I love the movie theater experience, the reason why I wasn't as intrigued is because I don't like MK's batman, he looks super cheesy IMO.
Grace focusing on Asteroid City’s low audience score in RT instead of on the record-breaking Theater per Average since La La Land is just so frustrating.
UPDATE: it has gone up to 71%
it is a business talk and poor word of mouth will effect its ability to go wide and garner more of an audience, that's the angle (have not seen it myself so can't speak to its quality)
@@Aussie27Legend Exactly. Because it is a business discussion she should realize that even though the rt audience score is low, people are going to see it and it’s gonna make money. Again, look at that theater per average! She saying that it’s like a career killer or something like that even comparing it to Beau is Afraid is RIDICULOUS.
Because there are so many white actors in a single movie.. grace doesn't like that.
@@Aussie27Legend it has gone up to 71%
I went to se The Flash in the cinema with my family. The snacks cost more than the tickets. I was pissed off because the size of the popcorn had shrunk but the price had increased. The cinema experience is dead.
The fact that these movies are being released on digital so soon after being released in theaters is a HUGE factor I feel.
Edit: I guess I have to point out that I'm talking about movies in general and not just The Flash. Mario isn't comparable since the IP for Mario is already so huge.
That’s not the case look at Super Mario Bros that went to digital early and it’s still making gold coins.
@user-ih5vf4xg4hHow do you know? Are you in the minds of everyone? Because movies going to digital 45 days later has either made me not see a movie or avoid the repeat viewing.
@@VidtopiaEntertainment For real, thank you. Super Mario went digital after 41 days and made $572.1 million in North America and $756.4 million internationally at the box office so far.
Blue Beetle and Aquaman are already dead in the water. Pun intended😂😂😂
Dc fans and their excuses lol the flash is a terrible movie deal with it
Thanks Grace !!! Wow. I do believe it’s because of Ezra Miller. He went on a rampage, basically all around the world with his antics/possible grooming/assault charges/etc. There’s only so much the public Will and can take
Twitter is not real life...majority of people who don't live on the internet even know who Ezra Miller is.
@@originaldelta That's true. The average person is unaware of ezra's behavior. So with a B cinema score, the movie is failing on its own merits.
People don’t care. The issue is it just didn’t look good. They really thought Keaton would fill up the seats.
True, Twitter is not real life, however, media outlets around the world, especially in countries, like the Netherlands, where he frequently had runnings with the public or running with it. Also, DC as a brand is completely broken. Nobody trusts it and this is just evidence there also have been reports in Mexico of the stars antics. One of brothers has kept it tight, but media outlets are reporting on it. It’s just a U.S is not.
It's also because of Gunn and Safran.
19:51 "then let's address the elephant in the room- that there are TOO MANY ELEPHANTS" HAHAHA that was so funny because it's true! never seen these many major hitters back to back like this, more room should've been given to breathe honeslty.
regarding the new Indiana Jones movie - i wonder if the studio realizes just how much damage crystal skull did to the brand. i remember thinking that film had murdered my childhood. i hated that film. no desire to see more
You know damn well that there’s going to be a lot of drama behind the scenes at Warner Bros. after they hyped this movie up so much and spent so much money on this, only for it to lay eggs right on their heads.
They should not have kept giving out free tickets to all these pre-screenings so no one needed to show up on opening weekend.
It was just a stupid idea to release this movie at all
They already fired the person in charge of marketing earlier this week. They probably saw the writing on the wall
🤣🤣🤣
And those eggs are literally frying on all of their big bloated heads!!
@@Uouttooo Yeah. How do you sell tickets if you give away free tickets before the movie is released?
At least with the early screenings of _Dungeons and Dragons_ people had to pay for the tickets. The fact that they didn't come back with their normal friends when it was released, just means they either didn't like it, were pissed at Hasbro, or aren't fans enough to deserve a D&D movie franchise.
Well tbh, I think all of us who've been following the DCEU, well... We all knew this was gonna go down like this. I'm sad for the cast and crew but there are tons of really bad decisions that have been made along the way that have led to this.
Also regarding DCU, my 2 cents are they better hope to bring in some MCU fans to watch Gunn's movies or it's gonna blow up in his face pretty much like what we're seeing as of late.
DC got me for Suicide Squad.
Gunn gets maybe one more shot with DC.
I've been following the DCEU and even when I knew the flash wasn't a "game changer" I never expected it to crash so freaking hard. At this point is safe to say the DCU is gonna be DOA
Seeing the Flash on Friday night at an IMAX showing with less than half of the seats filled was an early indication on how well this movie was going to do.
Grace, respectfully, was Warner Bros incentivizing influencers like yourself to give positive reviews of the movie, or did you genuinely enjoy it? It looked awful from the beginner, it had a truly terrible person as the lead actor, it turned out to be a pretty poorly made film, and it's looking like it flopped, but everyone in the industry had nothing but great things to say about the whole time. Just a really bizarre situation. No disrespect to you intended.
I agree that DC should do a hard reboot. Casual audiences dont understand whats going on and most of them wont research it themselves. If Blue beetle is truly the first character in dc’s new universe they should market the film as such.
you know what you are right and i hope by hard reboot you mean get rid of everyone like the suicide squad characters as well because thats living in the past and will make people made im sure of it
Starting your new universe with a character nobody has heard of is dumb af
a hard reboot won't fix that. it's not like those memory wipes from MIB.
I can follow all the comic book logic and even I'm feeling like you are right about just do the hard reboot. Too many franchises have tried the we can salvage this only to make things worse.
Blue beetle will also flop a character that almost nobody knows .
Pixar seems to be making movies their employees want to make, but that the general population isn’t interested in. Elementals just seemed very generic based on the initial trailers, like it could have come from any animated studio
Elementals does look good, but you're completely right about the trailers, it even gave me a "wait til disney plus" feeling. I think pretty much every studio now having its own streaming service pretty much, people are going to be far more picky.
Elemental was a beautiful movie. It had me smiling all throughout! It’s a shame more people didn’t go see it.
Its because of the flash drama tbh. And then we still have spiderverse. Elemental shot itself by playing in theaters so close to them
I was thinking it might outperform the Flash this weekend as it was in 4 auditoriums at my theater, compared to _The Flash's_ 3, plus the former had 3D. Well, maybe word of mouth might do something over the next couple weeks. I wasn't planning to see _Elemental,_ but people are saying it's good, so I might go.
@@John-to6sl No kidding. The day I was lining up deciding to see Elemental, changing my mind to see Across the Spiderverse again was extremely tempting, AND I had already seen Spiderverse 4 times! (And our local Spiderverse ticket was cheaper than Elemental too) but I decided to stick with Elemental instead. I saw the film. and It was fine. I enjoyed the ride, but I'm not gonna see it twice.
I wanna see it but I'm too busy 😢 will defs try it this Thursday tho.
So it’s a great movie but Gunn is foolish to say it’s great and WB is stupid for releasing it?
I don't know what's up with the Disney PR department. The trailers for both Strange World and Elemental are just NOTHING and fail to give the audience any reasons to watch them except "It's Disney/Pixar".
This movie has its menagerie of issues. But a simple fact thats going to plague all these movies coming out is that most working people today simply don’t have the free income atm to be visiting the theatre each week for a new blockbuster. They’re going to pick their favourite one or two and just wait for the rest to stream.
II totally agree. They should have gotten together and spread out their releases. At least audiences could budget for them.
Totally me at the moment. Seeing all these movies I want to watch but not having the funds to do so really sucks.
Exactly.
Indian Jones is gonna flop worst then this
A movie theater outing is expensive unless you are in a movie watcher program. I wouldn’t think of seeing more than one film a month if I weren’t an AMC member. And streaming prices are going up too. People will ultimately pick their outlet… theatre or streaming
With every new DCEU film, Grace's words become more and more prophetic, "Every person who has been involved with the DCEU has come to regret it." If I was Jason Momoa or James Wan, I'd beg Warner to shelf Aquaman 2 while I still had a career.
Why would it kill his career?
Aquaman 2 just has the smell of a flop to me. I know we haven't seen much and the first made over a billion. But I'm just getting Alice Through the Looking Glass vibes. First movie makes a billion, second movie is a flop.
Why? That’s stupid and Wan/Mamoa will be fine
@@JUANxxTNAFAN with how many times its been pushed back and the fact they still have AH in it. Tbh, i even forgot theyre making it with how irrelevant it became
@John pushing a movie back is not a bad thing. You want them to rush and release it makes no sense. Amber Heard part is being cut out air go the delay
Idk if this affects box office, but there are loads of spoilers on social media, especially TikTok. I've seen a lot of big scenes from the movie. By comparison, I've only seen memes about Across the Spider-Verse, and I did see spoilers for Little Mermaid and GotG Vol 3, but only after the film had been out for about a week. I saw massive Flash spoilers starting Friday. It's crazy how numerous they are
I hate out of context clips, cause they always try to find the goofiest thing they can find cause they are trying to drive the most amount of engagement then divorce it of all its context, I remember the resident evil show (which, I enjoyed, but obviously isn't shakespere) getting done really bad, it sucks and must be demoralizing for cast & crew. At least across the spiderverse is kind of spoiler proof and very pretty so you still get something additional by actually seeing it.
Maybe not on social media, but there were tons of clips of Across the Spider-Verse on UA-cam the day after it premeired.
@David Jones oh really. Glad I avoided that. I still haven't seen it. I'm super excited to see it, but like Grace said, I'm one of those ppl that if I dont see it opening weekend I usually just wait
Joker got a B grade and it did a billion
Disney inflicted Elemental's box office on themselves. It was NEVER a good idea to put a string of Pixar movies on Disney plus. They have taught audiences that all Pixar movies are streaming movies and not worth theater admission anymore. They may not ever recover from this.
Agreed. Course correction can come if they don’t rush this out to streaming. They need to push the streaming dates way back for all their movies whether they are a success (Avatar) or a flop (Quantumania). It’s either see it in theaters or wait a long time to see it on streaming. They then need to pick better release dates like WTH were they thinking with putting this in crowded June? I get TLM because they had that date before Spiderverse moved to June but Disney needs to get more strategic with their release dates.
Good
I mean sure while there was the fallout from the Ezra Miller controversy , but that’s really the excuse. The biggest problem in opinion, is that the film had really terrible timing by coming out when DC’s film Universe was being wiped out and restarted from scratch with Blue Beetle and also coming out around the samw time when the Arrowverse show on the CW aired it’s series finale.
People act like this proving that Ezra Miller is a liability when it's more like these movies are getting pumped out with DC already quite aware that they're failures which will be fixed by a reboot. Personally, I think The Flash is also quite dull of a character, and I'm not sure how exciting it'll ever be spending money on a superhero movie where the guy's ability is to run fast and be a nerd.
I believe the major problems are DC films have been received poorly and that includes the flash character in the team up movies. It also doesn’t help that comic book movies in general have created more disappointments than a few years ago.
For me personally I’m not in a rush to watch it because even before the Ezra miller things also look at how many reshoots it went through as well that was a turn off also and even before not the many people though he should have been the flash in general even before the controversies.
The interest for DC films has decreased drastically!!! Even a great Batman film can’t even crack1 Billion.
Just can't get over the fact that this was meant to be _the_ multiverse film that was going to revolutionize the genre, now out of the 4 big multiverse movies we've seen since they announced it, this one ended up the biggest failure, worst reviews, worst fan reception and lowest box office, by far 😂😂
I think the main problem with The Flash movie was the CGI, which was a huge turn off to a great movie. I love the movie but the CGI was really bad that it would take you out of the movie when it came on screen.
The CGI was a little off-putting. For a film with that budget it should have been better
It was tooo much comedy that shit was bad like Thor love and thunder
If you're really like CGI took me out of the experience. You were looking for it in the first place. LMAO. So many MCU movies have shitty CGI. Black panther is one of the highest grossing movies of all time, and marvel movies of all time, and its third act CGI is an atrocity due to well known time constraints.
@@richg4011 Black Panther had just as bad CGI, I think flash just has more CGI in it so people notice it more, and BP 1 had people emotionally invested in it.
The only CGI that wasn’t the greatest was during the time “Hamster wheel “ bits. But I also wonder if they intend it to not look fully ‘real’.
While the flash appealed to hardcore fans, it seems they overestimated how much it appealed to the general audience. It was surprising that it got a B cinema score, which was lower than thor love and thunder and black adam.
So many studios are making that mistake, creatinf content tjat doesnt appeal to appeal to general audiences, to the masses.
that only proves that people are fuckin stupid and have terrible taste !
the flash was leeeeeeeeagues better than love&thunder and black adam !
The ceinama score is due to ezra miller not the film

The Flash failed because DC fans was already filled up with 9 seasons of the CW show. Tho it's not a major motion picture... to have that character on hand with a actor who is "beloved " to have played the Flash is EVERYTHING. I think the Movie could've had higher numbers if they used GRANT GUSTINS cameo ending.
And you have to admit... the CW Flash made alot of major TV milestones. This show crossovered to another networks show + Crisis connected every DC show ever made into one screen.
The BIG test on this theory is when BLUE BEETLE hits the screen. I think this will do excellent as people anticipate whether it's a great comic book adaptation.
This is an award for all the fandom that felt mocked and cheated by Warner with the return of Cavill, as well as the satisfaction for the successful campaign that we started a couple of weeks ago for this movie to have an Epic flop and boy are we getting, let's continue like this this is not over yet.
I'm with you on that. If Gunn hasn't figured it out yet, wait until Blue Beetle has an epic fail and how Legacy barely makes back what it cost.
@@davidtyler2012 of course yes.
You nailed all the possible reasons and what many of us knew would happen. This was a disaster from the beginning. The reason it even made it to theaters was "they" believed it was a very good movie and they didn't want to take the big loss. In essence, the loss will end up being bigger and having a long-lasting effect on the DCU.
Back in the day, _Superman III_ was a disappointing movie, _Supergirl_ was OK IMHO but a flop, and _Superman IV_ was downright awful. There wasn't talk about not seeing the latest movie unless there's a definite sequel planned because it would be "meaningless." If DC fans won't go to a superhero movie considered "good," then they don't deserve live-action movies; just cartoons and video games for them.
It's a shame, I saw the film here in the UK and liked it very much. In my opinion the biggest mistake Warner made was not casting Grant Gustin as The Flash
FUBAR is fantastic. It respects every character. The father daughter dynamic is great and not cheesy (It is in fact yet to be resolved). I would have like to see Emma and her moms relationship a little more (Certainly near the end there was a perfect moment) but I'm down for season two so there's still time. The only down side is the campy physics.
The show was great but I couldn't help but to feel the daughter was a horrible person but a bit better near the end
The poor box office from The Flash signals that the DCEU is done and gives Gunn/Safran the greenlight for a full reboot. Zaslav will give them the time to repair and rebuild.
What makes them think the dcu will be any different the damage is already dobe and won't improve with a so called soft reboot
They are going for a soft reboot, which many think is a bad idea. They do need to wipe the slate clean and start over. Also looked what happened to Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, and how the perspective of Batman completely changed once Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy came out. It can be done.
zas will be gone in 3 years he wants something with a fast turn around, hence the retrofit instead of restart
I see a lot of people saying “Oh it’s not about the controversy because most people don’t even know who Ezra Miller is!” Well, maybe that was part of the problem before these controversies even happened. Ezra doesn’t have charisma or star power.
Ezra just don’t seem like a superhero character to me. I don’t really see him as the guy that saves people. He seems more of the person with the beanie and the headphones in a thriller tv show.
@@angelaparkes451I totally agree. I’m not huge into comics but in previous portrayals of The Flash, he is usually a more confident and memorable character.
I didn't like him at all in the theatrical version of Justice league but in The Flash he's great.
I'm so amused at all this hand wringing about bad opening weekend totals.
Pundits in 2043: I can't believe how poorly this movie opened, will we ever get back to pre-pandemic box office numbers???
This is going to be conversation that needs Grace and CSI to investigate all what happened. A perfect storm. I agree with Grace benching the big characters is a big mistake. Well one of the mistakes...
I loved Flash now that it was released. "Some problems can't be solved" - and in this the reality where this happened. So meta for this story 😱🤯
The Flash was ok. My son and I enjoyed it, but pretty much every cameo played to an older audience like myself. We also saw Transformers over the weekend too. I thought that was excellent.
Your break down is great. another thing - the CW already had a good Flash, and they already used similar Flashpoint and multiverse story ideas. If you are a DC fan, you've already scene this stuff, smaller budget, yet similar CGI quality
Yeah but the CW viewership show that TV Flash wasn't seen but majority of fans
Flash was good for 2/3 seasons and everything went south afterwards
CWs Flashpoint was also not accurate either
@@shippendales8543yeah that’s about where I jumped ship. It just seemed like Power Ranger level dialogue from 1992.
@@sarad2659CW shows were and still are all on Netflix. They were seen.
Obviously Grace is still smarting from all the times James Gunn has slapped her down on Twitter. What kind of an amateurish into is this? Blaming performance of the Flash on lack of promotion? How about a movie released four years too late that few wanted in the first place followed by dismal word of mouth?
At this point they just need to stop making DC films. They’re ruining the characters. They’re not giving the fans what they want, therefore the box office is weak.
At the end of the day it seems the poor box office has nothing to do with the film itself and more with ppl's feelings about Miller, WBD, and the drama around DC. Consistently I saw positive reviews about the film. Positive enough that the film deserved to make more but it is what it is. I also think streaming has totally changed movie audiences. Look at Little Mermaid. That should have easily made more out of the gate worldwide yet here we are
Not too long ago, people kept saying, "Make good movies and we'll come." As well as "give us something new and original; enough with franchises."
Today: crickets for _The Flash_ and _Elementals_ unless people just skipped going to the movies this weekend?
I don't think Ezra is the reason. Most of the people outside of US have no clue about his mishaps. The movie was straight up below average. We've seen such type of movies. Tbh, the flash tv show already has done justice to the character for sooo long. They really needed to pull something incredible to sell it to the global audience, which they didn't and hence it bombed.
I would say that DC, MCU and Star Wars need at least a 10yr maybe a15yr break. This would give these IPs the breathing room to break from all the current actors and directors and give a new generation to reboot. I would look at getting the quality back in comic books and builds on that for that juration.
Dc and Marvel need money and films give them money. They can't afford that long of a break.
I think that’s too long. These IPs survive with generating fans in each generation. I think having one superhero movie each year per studio is decent. So the MCU film of 2023 would be…., the 2023 DCU film…. Etc
This would be fascinating. The first movie after fifteen years would definitely open strong.
"Hollywood creatives, if you want to tell your own story, get your own title." 100 percent this. And it seems like DC absolutely needs a break or just change their model. Things went well with The Batman and Joke, but that's not enough. They want more! Come on, what happened to supply and demand? All these superhero movies, but it seems like the demand is not there...
All the circumstances surrounding Flash are unfortunate as this is actually a really good, entertaining movie. Probably my favorite film from the remnant "Snyderverse" and I don't even like Ezra Miller. The action sequences alone are among the best. This film also has the best use of comedy without being cringe worthy.
Elementals looks too much like Pixar's other endeavors (Inside Out and Soul) to get people excited. Their stories are starting to disappoint as well. They've lost their edge.
The movie is trash.
Agreed. I thought The Flash was amazing!
I'm dying at the @8:10 mark where Grace has to bleep herself. Very rarely see that. She is, in fact, human after all! 😁
Superhero fatigue, politics, and changing demographics. Demographics has more influence than Hollywood seems to think -- and it's changing dramatically.
Gunn handed the keys to a lemon ? You don’t think he had anything to do with the butchering of the movie and all the shady egotistical things he’s done. He’s going to go down with this ship and I’m sooo happy for it. Firing Cavill and Gadot! Screw him
I went to see it yesterday and the theaters were packed all day for The Flash on the premium screens. I thought it might do better than projected.
I went to see flash on Thursday and people were even sneaking in and standing in the isles. There were no seats. I think it’s great. I did tear up in the end. Maybe it will be a cult classic or have a cult following
Who knew promoting a movie with a criminal in lead as a superhero would turn out poorly. Shocked, I am shocked!
many superheroes are criminals :-)
Thank you....if he wasn't in the ABC gang he would have been kicked out of the country
poor Johnny Depp Hollywood destroyed his life of just accusation and WB kicked him off Fantastic Beasts but they tried so much with ezra because he is gay
also WB they're keeping Amber Heard for Aquaman 2
Criminals are not born , they are made 😑
My problem with the flash is that too many spoilers/ too many people want to talk about who’s in or out of the movie before the movie comes out - I don’t like the idea of talking about a project before it comes out - it kills the excitement and surprises. I really enjoyed the flash However I had to stop watching twitter and UA-cam because of all the leaks in advance before of the release
‘The Flash’ Movie had some of the best Batman scenes I have seen in live action in a while. I am hyped for the Brave and the Bold. I’m kinda shocked that the movie didn’t do that well, but must be the issues with Ezra.
Ignorance of Warner Bros incompetence for a thousand, please
How could Warner not expect it to fail? The movie is failing not because it's bad but because Ezra Miller is in it.
Nah, very few people know who Ezra is by name or his recent troubles. People are just not into this character. The only movie he's been in, JL, was a terribly recieved movie especially his Flash in particular.
@@dnice4145 The Josstice League really hurt the flash.

it had a chance until Ezra Miller pulled his BS and the rebooting rumors also crashed it
Perhaps I missed it when discussing the Flash in this clip, but the movie trended toward male movie goers at over 70% opening weekend.
Grace, the movie didn't have "4 quadrant" appeal apparently.... and these numbers for total domestic box office, confirm it, truly shocking.
If Christian Bale had reprised as Batman... A team of Olympic wrestlers couldn't keep me out of that theatre seat
My wife is a Pixar fan and we have a 4 year old. We saw with him Mario, Little Mermaid, and Spiderverse with him as his first three movies. Didn't realize Elemental was even out. Will likely just watch at home.
You have to admit people are bombing this film they are leaving reviews that don't even make sense. I had someone tell me today the movie is mid and they have not even seen it. I saw it twice this weekend and it really works.
Isn't James Gunn in danger of doing the exact same thing that Patty Jenkins did with Wonder Woman 1984, thinking that audiences want to bring back the Superman of 1978, which Patty acknowledged as her prime inspiration? Do audiences really want that "hopeful" Superman in today's world? Would that be delusional Superman?
It won't work, beacuse the only person who could play superman that way was the late great christopher revee
Agreed, I just don't understand why people want to go back to the old fashion superman. Henry Cavill really look like a A list actor compared to Gun short list of potential superman.
Hopeful Superman is what is needed in today's world and even then. That doesn't mean campy and cheesy, similar to how Captain America from the MCU kept evolving, the same can be done to Superman. It all really comes down to how the character is written and the story. Henry Cavill's Superman was too broody, and really never got the chance to really show off his charisma like in Man from U.N.C.L.E.
I don't want emo superman
Is that Snyderism I smell?
I’ve watched it today, I really enjoyed the movie, Ezra performance really made the movie
It’s a great performance that they can be proud of.
Hollywood messed up by getting political. Instead of making a movie for the whole country, now a movie is made for only half the country. It'll be hard to make a movie that will satisfy both sides of America. Also, everyone now roots for movies to fail and celebrated it when it happens. Holywood did it to themselves
Whoever scheduled the releasing for each studio should be fired. The back to back cramming of releasing big movies is limiting each big release. Where Avatar 2 had theaters all to itself for weeks… Be smarter Hollywood
This movie will be forever surrounded in controversy.
You mention conservatives not supporting Ezra because he's LGBT, but there are lots of popular LGBT actors who are beloved by all audiences because they don't *behave* like Ezra Miller does. Off the top of my head (and I probably thought of the British ones because I'm British): Sir Ian McKellen, Luke Evans and Lee Pace. They've all been in major movies and nobody could care less that they're gay, because they carry themselves like gentlemen.
I'd personally be happy if Luke Evans played James Bond. I've always been a fan of his. He's a charming actor and he seems like a cool guy. But he might be getting a little too old now, unfortunately.
That is a disaster that it only opened to $55.1m. To be honest, I thought it was pretty good. If you are undecided whether to see it I would give it a go. I never felt like the 2hr 20min+ runtime dragged. It was great seeing Keaton as Batman and hearing the Elfman score pretty much everytime Batman was in action. Supergirl was decent too although she didn’t get a lot to do.
I liked it as well, it was different.
That express VPN ad caught me off guard 😂
Yeah. Didn't see that one coming
I liked the spoiler in it, cute.
I think it will have a man of steel or scott pilgrim vs the world effect , people hate it when it came out but people started to like if after many years , and become a cult classic
I agree 👍
Wait, people hated Scott pilgrim when it came out?
“We don’t want bright happy Batman “😅😅😅
The fact that a pedophile's movie still made $55 million says a lot about the people that bought those tickets.
I totally agree about the pirated clips and Ezra Miller points. My friend was excited for a flash but stumbled upon (did not search for) trash clips and thought it looked terrible. I didn’t want to watch it because of Ezra Miller. We watched Elemental instead.
Did you watch Adhipurush?
@@user-ji3il6ce2o no. I don’t live in India, it didn’t play near me and I wasn’t interested anyways.
A lot of people forget this reason as well….we’ve been waiting on this thing longer than anticipated. It got delayed almost as many times as Aquaman 2! That combined with Ezra’s issues, the rebooting of the franchise afterward anyway….gives almost nothing to be invested in. I haven’t seen it yet but that’s because I had to catch up with Fast X and Spider Man. But I’ll go see it.
Let me know what you think of it Bobby, when you see it.
😂😂 "Where are they looking for change, in the sofa?!"😂😂😂😂
Post GOGV3 I believe that Gunn has got it in him to deliver a good superhero movie. Honestly I feel he has everything in him to be one of the greatest blockbuster directors, but as DCU head he just doesn’t seem to take strong decisions. When I heard Henry and gal are going , I thought it was a 100% reboot, but later ppl who he has worked with him and his friends are sticking around. What’s more lame is this was justified by Gunn stating that Flash resets the universe and that’s how few get to stay. Basically Flash resets the whole dceu so that his friends can stick around, this justification no longer holds good coz Flash is flopping real bad and many have not seen this movie to understand the justification.
i think this is a pretty fair assessment, I actually have a lot of faith that legacy is going to be on the upper tier of good to maybe great, but the rest seems like good ideas but questionable execution (but I guess we will see when 2025/2026 rolls around)
Yeah, his statements regarding canon have been questionable at best and not worth watching at worst.
He makes crowd pleasing movies but he seems to be way in over his head with the leaps in logic he's taking
I really enjoyed Blackberry. I just hope there had been some slower and more human moments for Howerton and Baruschel to flex a bit, exploring the relationship between their characters. Nevertheless I enjoyed it more than Air, and I really liked Air.
No Hard Feelings is actually very funny and heartfelt! I’d recommend to watch in theaters just to support the movie. Might be one of my favorite movies I’ve watched this year so far.
Ya can't wait to watch it next weekend just couldn't get the time this one to see it

Ezra Miller costed this movie millions.
Did you get to see a preview of it? The trailers were charming.
@theelmstreetkid8981 I did because I'm in this space but no one I know had any idea it was coming out...oh and no one knew who Ezra was Either🤷♀️
I'm so happy about this. It shows that people aren't just willing to be ok and accept the things he's done. I know I wasn't going to and I love Batman but couldn't get over Ezra's actions. WB is a s**tshow. Should've just scrapped everything. Everyone and reboot.
The movie was great. I’m thinking people having to choose between Guardians, Spider-Verse, and Flash played a role.

I actually feel really bad for what’s happened to elemental. I think the biggest downfall was the marketing. They didn’t emphasize the immigration aspect of the story, which is what I believe to be the strongest part. It really felt like the heart of the film, and I love ember’s arc surrounding it and her relationship to her father.
It’s just really unfortunate. Because the marketing made it seem very by the books and bland because it only focused on the romance aspect of the movie.
I will admit I didn’t think the romance was the strongest. I thought it was enjoyable and helped move the plot and character arcs along but it was never the strongest part.
I mean the whole point of the movie is that the two mains are different elements (races) and the (cultural) differences that brings. Along with her family not supporting it. I think most adults would get those references lol.
Only so much ad $$$$ to go around.
I only see a copy of inside out. It’s boring and obviously pandering to a certain demographic which turns people off.

Its literally bombing because of its subject matter and parents are beyond over it with Pixarshit and the lame stories. Great analysis Grace. I especially liked your point about 2000s nostalgia for CBM characters, it made so much sense once you said it.
