He stands for truth, justice, and the American way. But who is he? When James Gunn gets working on Superman: Legacy, who should he cast as the titular Man of Steel? I have some suggestions.

For those just coming here after hearing the news: He discusses David at 27:28
I flew around the Earth really fast to watch this before it was posted.
So...Patreon?
@@jordanwhite352 Silence, mortal.
lol
nebula?
@@jordanwhite352 why isn’t it possible?!
It’s gotta be David Corenswet for me. He’s 6’4 and IMO I want a larger than life Supes who towers over everyone in the JL. He’s a julliard student akin to Christopher Reeve, he’s young enough at 29 I believe to be in the films for 10-15 years, but not being too young and could easily play a year 3-4 Supes.
Also his demeanor in interviews seems very kind, cool, and warm. He seems like a chill dude. He’s also a relatively unknown actor. He’s been in a few things but overall isn’t a household name.
I don't know what show it is that he's in but someone literally tells him that he's like Superman. After he's told that he smiles the most superman smile I've ever seen. Imo he's the perfect person for this role
Bingo, you got it! And yeah, wow, he's got Superman and Clark down.
@@thenaiamhis comment is edited, so we'll never know if he guessed correctly or not
unpopular opinion: Tom Welling has always been my favorite Superman despite not technically ever becoming “Superman”
I mean, he behaved like superman and was the most human. Hes also my favorite
I don't know how unpopular this opinion is though 😉 Tom Welling is also my favorite and as a long time Smallville fan, I'm one of those that felt cheated that we never got him properly in the suit.
Smallville itself>The Arrowverse
He has the heart, the look, and the experience. I really think he could nail a modern superman if they took the worst parts of tv shows off of him
I don't think its that unpopular of an opinion, but I disagree that his character never becomes Superman. Audience/fans just don't see the actor wearing the suit.
I have a hunch that he'll cast a no-name newcomer as Clark. James Gunn has enough career leverage that I think he'd be able to convince studios to cast whoever he wants. I'm thinking parallel to Guardians; big names playing superheroes no one's ever heard of, a no-name playing a superhero everyone's heard of. Something about that combination, when pulled off well, which he has, is endearing.
If their plan is for the actor to play Superman for 10 years + this would be a great idea. To audiences he’ll BE Superman. And a no name newcomer likely wouldn’t be as opposed to a long term contract.
I think we definitely need a Superman that is definitive like RDJ and Ironman
James Gunn answers to nobody but David Zaslav he's the boss. So he can definitely cast whoever he wants
@@Clankem The thing is that superman has already had hundreds of amazing adaptations in various forms of media. He is the definition of superhero. Ironman has become an icon only after RDJ. RDJ could do literally whatever he wanted with the character because mainstream audiences had literally no one to compare him to. A new superman has to be comapred to not only Reeve but cavil and the various animated supermen.
i just wish he would cast someone accurate to what he looks like.
With Wolfgang him not being experienced is more of a strength being an unknown can be best look what happened with Chris Reeve for me it's either him or David Corenswet. While he is similar to Cavil the tone of the movie can completely change the performance so him looking like him isn't really an issue for me
also if James Gunn wants to hire Cavill again as the older Superman in phase 2 for example it would be more believable
@@owalterluan I would not be.
David Corenswet doesn’t look like Henry Cavill, he looks like Superman tbh 🤦🏽♂️I still think he’s the best choice for the role tho
@@emmanv7744 You know what I mean
@@owalterluan why would he do that, genuinely
Welp now I can’t unsee Austin butler as gambit, especially with how he nailed the southern accent for Elvis
But "southern" amd "Cajun" aren't the same...
A Cajun accent isn’t the same as a southern accent. You can hear the distinct difference
My point was that because he nailed the accent in Elvis it wouldn’t be a stretch for him to do a cajun accent , not that a southern and cajun accent sound alike
Nah... Gambit is supposed to be handsome, Austin Butler is weird looking
@@A.V9-5 A lot of people can imitate a southern accent. A cajun accent is very difficult to nail.
Been so long since your last fan cast. Nice to see you doing them again. I was not disappointed by your final pick.
Thanks and now that the DCU is back on track, there are plenty more to come
@@NandovMovies I look forward to them all!
@@NandovMovies will you do lantern duo next?
I honestly think Winston Duke would work really well as either Icon from the Milestone side of DC or Steel, it would be cool seeing them get proper live action adaptations and be in a living DC universe.
Him as Irons would be spot on.
I could honestly see him as John Stewart or Black Lightning, though he might be a bit too beefy for the latter. He would also be a dead-ringer for Brick, but I _really_ doubt we'll be seeing that guy any time soon
He could play any of the black superheros, why cast him as Superman?
@@sumarianprinceexactly
Judging them on 5 areas of Superman attributes feels like a superhero pageant, like something out of "My Hero Academia" filler, or "The Boys". But I can't deny you're looking for just the right stuff and you've made a solid cast. I agree with your top pick, and Natalia Dyer as Lois Lane is... isn't bad at all, come to think of it!
She’s basically Lois in Stranger Things. Would like to see her as brunette too
@@pineablesoda bruh what does height have to do with it
@@pineablesoda you jus said she doesnt ooze confidence but can act the part, kinda contradictory my boy
@@pineablesoda they can do what they did for Man of Steel or Thor: Love and Thunder, make a small ramp for whoever’s playing Lois to walk on to appear taller alongside whoever is playing Superman next or Jimmy Olsen or other workers at The Daily Planet. Or have her wear heels like RDJ in essence all his movies, especially The MCU films
The second I saw that scene of Novogratz carrying Dyer a few months ago I was immediately sold, I really hope he gets cast as Clark
"Probably since he's known, to me, for being another superhero already."
The last time I heard that statement, Deadpool pointed a gun at Hal Jordan. [Marvel vs. DC: Green Lantern vs. Captain America (2011)]
Wolfgang Novogratz being an unknown is perfect for Superman.
Austin butler as gambit is the best casting I've seen. It's uncanny
Imo he’s the ONLY choice for that role
I know, right?? Soon as he brought that up I was like *yes*!
@@MrTony-rx7tk too skinny, personally novogratz seems like the best, if not darren criss but he is too old and kinda short if i recall.
Nah, Gambit is supposed to be handsome, Austin Butler looks like a potato.
@@jmgonzales7701 It’s the MCU, he can tren hard and bulk up as much as they want.
"the American way" is NOT original. It use to be just "Truth and Justice" they added "The American way" during the cold war (i think during the radio show). People can debate what means, is it a positive or a negative BUT the fact that it was added and for a reason is important in understanding his history
Winston Duke would be an amazing get for Calvin Ellis, if only because I want to see him as President
Honestly, wolf’s inexperience could be his ticket in, I doubt they want someone already involved in hero films, plus the dude is the most accurate casting you got in this video
I think the big question for casting a Superman movie helmed by James Gunn is who are Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker going to play in it? Maybe Alpha Centurion and Bibbo Bibbowski respectively. Those seem like the right kind of deep cut characters for Gunn.
They're both already DC characters in what seems like is going to be the new DCU continuity.
I really want Rooker for Perry White
Fillion would be a fantastic Pa Kent. He’s got that wholesome folksy charm; maybe young to be the father of a 30-year-old Supes, but if you need flashbacks, it’s still easier to age someone up than down. This casting would actually make me super excited lol
michael rooker would be a great rudy jones/parasite and he actually played a similar character in slither
28:08 returning here now after the casting news, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this now it’s official
Another thing to note on Winston Duke, is that while we have seen him play very different characters with very different physical presences in Us and black panther, he could go even further than his character in black panther.
He's also played a third character with an even bigger physical posture with Gabe's tether, adding to the angle of Frank Quitely's approach of differently postured Clark and superman. In Us, Gabe's tether is massive, and that character is supposed to be genetically identical to Gabe. The character obviously doesn't match either version of Clark, and also wasn't as much of a character presence as Lupita's Red, but physically he's demonstrated such a range of different statures for his characters
Also, it be interesting to see how you'd cast the new gods
You're onto something with Winston Duke. He was in a smaller movie called Nine Days that I really enjoyed where he basically played a humdrum pencil pusher, and looking him up after the fact, I had NO clue he was M'Baku from Black Panther.
It’s gotta be an unknown, it wouldn’t be a Superman casting without someone we haven’t heard before. However I do think Novogratz fits that criteria, and I also think he’d be my ideal pick for Legacy.
Novogratz is about as unknown as it gets lol
@@joshjones9749 well whoever they cast they need to be great
I love the fact that superman casting has now become recognised as something where you cast a noname as one of the most well known superheroes to maximize success.
I have absolute faith in who they'll pick. From kirk alyn to tyler hoechlin, every superman actor has done a great job and anyone of them I would love to get another movie out of, plus, unlike batman actors, they all look so similar I could see them being apart of the same family.
The line "I was talking, to death, in a couple of videos" made me imagine you actually talked to Death.
since The Authority is the project I'm most excited about...I'd love to see who you'd cast.
Watching this whole video shook at the idea Metropolis is off the coast of Delaware?! Superman really representing forgotten states.
9:51 Man, now you made me want an Elseworld where Clark became a Stand Up Comic and he's played by John Mulaney.
John Mulaney would be a great Spider-Man, imo.
@@DinoCon He's already proven that ahahaha.
I could see him having trouble changing in a phone booth and someone comes pounding on the door.
"Someon's in here! No, no, someone's in here!"
Winston is actually one of my top picks for Icon.
So, Superman and Batman are in Delaware and New Jersey, that is weird.
(Not finished with the video) I'm pretty sure we're supposed to assume that Routh in Superman Returns is also the "Kingdom Come" Superman we see in Crisis. I think Routh mentioned that in an interview to promote the crossover event, and even in the crossover itself Kingdom Come Clark mentions that he has a son named Jason (aka the kid from Returns)
It is entirely possible tho that KC Superman is a new iteration that just happens to live through the same history as Reeve and Routh's original Superman iterations but yeah there's that
I was gonna reply the same comment. But just like how Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprised the same versions of their characters in NWH, this is the same Superman from Returns.
Plus since Superman Returns ignores Superman III & IV, the multiverse was already in play. Two different realities.
@@alberteaux "This is the second time I've gone nuts and fought myself" and the mention of Jason kinda make Superman III canon to Reeve/Routh Superman.
A lantern casting video would be cool. You've got your Earth lanterns of course but also your Kilowags, your Tomar-res, your Abin Surs and what not, not to mention the other corps.
Also, Glen Powell for Hal Jordan. Not to typecast him with Top Gun and Devotion but he's the living embodiment of cocky pilot who comes in clutch when you need him. He's perfect to me.
@@keitht8022 he was also John Glenn in Hidden Figures
@@keitht8022 also I think he would be absolutely perfect for human torch given his entire personality in that movie is basically just Johnny Storm.

Great write-up all around, I'm really excited for your Lex Luthor casting. After hearing Theo James's performance in Castlevania, I can't help but hear his voice any time I'm reading a comic with Lex in it. Him and Rob Kazinsky are my two personal picks for ol' Baldy.
Actually, someone mentioned Edward Holcroft, from Kingsman, for Lex. Which I mean, maybe a bit. 35 years old, has a strong built, and is shown that he can do well bald.
I'm excited for the Lex casting too, Michael Rosenbaum and Clancy Brown are the blueprint so hopefully we can get the best one that can fit that role.

THANK YOU for mentioning Metropolis' (at least original) canonical location in my home state of Delaware 👍🏾
as someone born and raised in New Jersey, I always though more people should know that Metropolis was originally Delaware and Gotham is Jersey
I once told someone I'm from Delaware and their response was "What is that? A state?"
@@FinnyThePoo most don't know it's actually the first state created too
I don’t know how many people caught the Christopher Plummer jab at Kevin Spacey but it was golden
Henry Golding pick just makes me happy
Given the recent news that Corenswet is the new Superman. I feel like Wolfgang would fit Superboy
Nightwing
It’s funny you say Tom welling feels more like he’s from the midwest than Brandon routh since is from iowa, so is George reeves too. Also as an Iowan I must mention how Jason momoa and Brandon routh went to the same high school
I have spent 35 of the 40 years of my existence believing that metropolis was in the place of New York City. This is absolutely fundamental information.
As a black person, Superman can't be black. Color blind casting of an American character is insulting. Now if they completely changed the story to account for it, it could be great, but then it wouldn't be "Superman".
Ik right, i honestly just don’t see the purpose of changing his race just for the sake of it. Personally i feel clark kent should be white like captain america and some characters it doesnt matter as much.
The Superman Brandon Routh plays in Crisis on Infinite Earths *is* supposed to be the one from Superman Returns, just years later.
Such a great video! My personal number #1 is David Corenswet. I’ve always heard people say he looks too much like Cavill or he looks like Cavill and Welling but I always thought it’s really more he happens to have all of the physical traditional superman attributes. Cavill in my opinion looked like he was ripped right out of a Superman comic so anyone who looks traditionally like superman will probably look somewhat like Cavill. Hence both Cavill and Matt Bomer both being Superman picks.
I think with the direction they take the film he can definitely stand out as his own take on the character. I would also be happy with Wolfgang!
Congratulations!
I’d be happy with either David Corenswet or Wolfgang Novogratz as Clark Kent/Superman, they are both have that strong but gentle feel Superman needs, I hope one of them gets it.
David just got casted as Superman😮
I'm impressed that he made it onto the video. Matthew certainly did his research and made a thorough list!
winston duke was the person I had in mind for that (now elseworlds) ta-nahesi coates superman movie they're apparently still working on.
as a fun bit of trivia, winston duke has also played bruce wayne in a spotify original batman audio drama. I only listened to the first episode of it so I can't say much about it, but the man's got range.
It’s fun to speculate but having worked in casting for the studios I can tell you casting directors already have multiple binders from every agency in town with candidates we’ve not heard of who are probably way more appropriate for the role of Supes.
Supes is such an iconic character that a total newbie actor (new to the audience)would work better. Christopher Reeve was an unknown when he was cast.
So was Cavill, mostly. Even Tyler Heochlin too.
I definitely agree that having someone we will basically only associate with Superman will make the character even stronger. He will just walk onto the screen as that guy. In my opinion, that's the larger reason Cavill has so much enduring popularity among fans - he IS that character for them. Lex Luthor is where you cast a more known actor
That Wolfgang guy could totally do that he's relatively unknown
@@StewartFletcher brandon as well, and tom welling was also pretty unknown.
Oh, Darren Criss, the Starkid traitor. (that's where I associate him most, and I have no hatred towards him. I have seen the Music Meister episode though). Honestly, seeing Harry Freaking Potter as Superman would be surreal and amazing.
Put Winston Duke in a green suit and give him a ring!!!
With Superman's glasses I had an idea of Clark getting special glasses from Star labs which mess with the recognition center of the brain of whoever looks at him.
You mentioning Guy Gardner makes me want to hear your fancast for the Green Lantern Corp
If I were Nando, I'd do it like this:
1st video: Superman Fancast
2nd video: Superman's Supporting Cast Fancast (Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, etc.)
3rd video: Supermen Fancast (Steel Cyborg Superman, maybe Supergirl, etc.)
4th video: Villains Fancast (Zod, Luthor, Brainiac, etc.)
Gotta say, seeing Darren Criss as Superman would be deeply bizarre for me, because I still think of him pretty exclusively as Harry Potter - I’ve never seen Glee, and only watched a couple of episodes of Hollywood, but I must’ve watched A Very Potter Musical at least half a dozen times
I only see Daniel Cunanan.
I couldn't believe Nando said he could pull off a pair of glasses and didn't reference him as Harry Freaking Potter
@@StarryEyed0590 I know, absolute lost opportunity.
Henry Cavill as Ultraman though. Absolutely they should lampoon Snyder's needlessly dark Superman by having Cavill as Ultraman.
I don't get the purpose of the race-blind casting point. We're casting Clark Kent so surely it'd be a white guy. If you're gonna cast a black guy or asian guy then why not just make a Val-Zod or New Super-Man movie, it's redundant and pointless and honestly comes off as pandering nonsense
Novogratz for Clark, Dickinson for Lex, that would be perfect
My favorite picks are definitely Wolfgang Moretz and David Corenswet. I also really like Jacob Elordi and Austin Butler
For me, I honestly think we need a more unknown actor to play Superman kind of like Christopher Reeve and Novogratz fits the bill. I believe DC needs more unknown actors playing their characters in order to contrast to the star power that the MCU has. Who knows, if Novogratz does become our next Superman, he might become a household name much like the others have.
I think the biggest issue with race blind casting is that ideally the race of a character wouldn’t change anything but unfortunately in the real world that’s kinda living in denial
The experiences of a white kid growing up in rural Kansas is probably going to be very different to that of a black kid growing up in the same place, especially if Jonathan and Martha Kent are still white. And that’s not considering how a lot of people in the US would react to the most powerful person alive being a black man
That being said I am very much aware that I’m a white dude so this isn’t my area of expertise and I could easily be completely wrong in which case I apologise
Ok, whoever recommended the House of the Dragon guy needs to think about what they've done
Tom Welling was my favorite Clark and I could totally see him being the best Superman too if he got the opportunity. And I'm not even biased from nostalgia because I started the show when I was 20 after already seeing the past Supermen. But Hoechlin is another favorite of mine
The transition into the sponsor had me rolling
The most important and overlooked power Superman has is obviously his ability to project a two and a half foot tall clone of himself out of his chest logo that has all of his powers.
What I always love about your commentaries is that they are always as entertaining as the movies they discuss.
Well, it's official now. Honestly, I can't say I hate David Corenswet for the role, super excited to see how it comes together
The stuff about the shifting physique reminded me of a behind the scenes of a seth rogan movie where he played 2 characters, one with and one without a beard, and because he didn't want a fake beard, he shot all the beardy scenes first, then did the clean shaven scenes, and i wonder if they could do similar for superman, shoot all the clark scenes first, then go on one of those crazy hollywood workout schedules to bulk up before playing superman
I truly hope that Brandon Routh is able to get a shot at playing some version of the character again either in a multiverse story or in an elseworlds story. As a continuation of the Chris Reeve version he was just about perfect. Apart from the weird moment where he's spying on Lois. It was an imitation but it was supposed to be and that doesn't take away from what Routh did in the role. I think if he'd had the chance to play the character more than once he would've found ways to bring more of himself into the role and he'd be more fondly remembered as his own Superman more than the guy who could imitate Chris Reeve. The small part he got to bring Superman back in the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Arrowverse crossover showed a clear evolution of the character and I do think he still has what it takes for the big screen. Just get rid of the padding and let the guy bulk up naturally.
Tbh DC should make full well a DC black label where they could go very artistic and original with the stories like what they did with the joker. they can even make it in different genres. Personally i want a whole separate universe that focuses on JSA and is the kingdom come universe.
@@jmgonzales7701 a kingdom come series with brandon would be awesome.
I always wanted one more movie out of him, that superman returns sequel with brainiac, even if he got recast by cavil in the next one, I feel that such a perfect casting shouldn't've gone to waste like that.
From the future here, and yeah, Gunn went with another shot at Cavill. I have to say, I'm not complaining. I've only seen some clips, but wow, those eyes, and he can definitely do the earnest folksiness of Clark.
I need to see who you’d cast as Wonder Woman. I’ve been struggling with this one 👀

For me, it's Corenswet or, in this video convinced me, with Novogratz. I initially was hesitant with him because I thought he was too pretty boy. But then that clip of him carrying Natalia Dryer convinced me. Also they would make a great Clark and Lois together. My other Lois candidate that i think would fit with Corenswet's Supes, is Olivia Cooke.
Absolutely love the fact that you credited Bryan Dechart as “from Cyberpunk” lol 😂 Brendan is truly his greatest role
3:59 I wish Henry Cavill’s Superman had been allowed to smile
I would love to see a future Authority casting just to see if a candidate for the main dc cast would also be able to go into their authority counterpart
I would like DC to exapand their universe more than the main stream, like i would like vertigo stories, watchmen and animal man to continue.
Wolfgang Novagratz Or David Corenswet as Superman. For your top 3 it has to be Wolfgang. Duke on the older side and Dimarco Only 5’11. Wolfgang on the younger side and 6’4
All of those rejections from the twitter thread were very much giving "the actor from the show I like right now should be superman"
I'm so glad about the final pick you made! He was my final pick to when I saw the collages of all the popular options.
DiMarco looks a bit too boyish, he doesn't have that imposing, but humble aura that Superman has
What's wrong with Dean Cain's Superman?
Besides Reeve, he's the one I grew up with so I'd really like to understand what you meant. I really liked his Superman.
Cheers from France! 🍻
Dean Cain is a political conservative. Nando is a political leftist. Nothing's wrong with Cain's superman, it's actually one of the best ever. But Nando is a political hack
I never agreed with any of your fancasting choices. But I agree with you on this one. Wolfgang is our guy
Since Pattinson's The Batman is an "Elseworlds" project, we'll probably be swinging back around to fan casting a Batman again before long, and I have wanted to see Lee Pace get a shot at that role for so long he's almost certainly too old for what they're looking for now. The range he displays in Halt and Catch Fire alone perfectly covers both the public and private personas of Bruce Wayne. He's the best Batman we'll probably never get to see.
If not for Lee, even though he's way too tall and probably would fit better for Cyclops (X-Xen), Alan Ritchson for the role. You don't need to look further and Reacher to know he'd nail the character too. He can take a hit, he acts like a detective, and when he's in a suit, he can look like he can speak business.
He is getting on the older side unfortunately but I think that Karl Urban would be fantastic as batman. Just look at dredd where throughout the movie he acts a full performance using nothing but the bottom of his mouth
Winston Duke was in 3 episodes of Modern Family a few years ago, and he’s clean shaven then! I think he also gets to show off a bit more of a nerdy side there, although it has been a while since I’ve watched it, and it proves, absolutely, he could nail it. Winston Duke for Superman all the way!
Tom Welling is easily the best Superman no one even comes close, I'm not always a fan of the character sometimes his stories are boring because he's so OP, but Smallville (which is still one of my favorite Shows of all time currently on my 6th rewatch) humanized him and kept his unrelenting optimism and righteousness and Hope of Superman, while sure he wasn't a bumbling nerd when he was Clark like it's meant to be in Canon but it's not an important change I don't think so.
David Corenswet would be an awesome Superman he was great in Pearl, not sure on if he could play dorky Clark or not I haven't seen him in anything like that but I'm sure he could, I don't think looking like Henry Cavill is a bad thing because the new Superman won't act like his Superman so you could tell them apart
While it doesn't make much sense since he seems to fly through the top of the lift and if he did that on the reg there's be a very confused maintenance guy finding clothing on top of the lift on a daily basis but one of my favourite Superman changes is when, in Superman Returns, Clark steps into the lift, turns and starts taking off his glasses as he puts his arm up and lifts off. I'm not sure I can tell you exactly what I love about it. It's just a great Superman moment.
I’m honestly sick of this obsession in wanting to change characters race. There are so many great diverse characters in dc like static, blue beetle, jon stewart, black lightning, icon, rocket. Some characters simply just dont need to change race unless it is a multiverse story.
I love the idea of Superman being white, or even Jewish (not to say that Jewish people aren’t “white”). Given Superman’s background involving his conception surrounding Jewish religion I think that would be interesting. A white Jewish person as America’s hero is something I think is really cool. I’m more ideal to race-blind casting coming for heroes such as Batman or Wonder Woman.
jacob elordi for superman for me. you say you’ve never seen him act like clark, but jacob elordi himself has sort of an awkward and cheery personality in interviews at least, so switching that up a little bit for clark wouldn’t be too hard. we see him act like a totally opposite person in euphoria. i feel they could use youth to their benefit too. after 15 years if he’s still around in the universe he’ll still be one of the younger and and better in shape heroes. lastly aside from cavill, he’s in my opinion an off the page in the face looking clark.
I way prefer a better tomorrow to the American way cuz superman is such an inspirational character I think he should be seen by the world over as the hero for everyone.
If Henry Cavill had been directed by an actor's director, he would've been perfect. Snyder intentionally directed him to not be Superman and pull back all of his natural charm and emotions to the point that many still think he doesn't have it in him. Ironically, he acts the most like Superman when directed by Joss Whedon
Making Superman black is like making black panther or storm white or Korean
Matt Bomer was my dream Nightwing casting for Nightwing when he was on White Collar. The amount of fanfic crossovers I just discovered shows I wasnt the only one lol! Sadly he’s prob too old for it now 😢
Haven’t seen Caleb Alexander Smith in anything I don’t think but seeing that photo of him he looks exactly like Superman😂.
That superman fan list from twitter goes to show how most comic fans are really not the best people to ask about this stuff, 70% of those are really bad to barely ok
I know right, some of those were crazy bad for castings 😂
In my opinion Superman should be broad. I agree with Gunn when he says his image of Superman is "a big galoot" and to me that means someone with a wide frame and jaw. I honestly think that (unfortunately) Dean Cain had the best face for Superman out of any actor we've had on screen with Cavill being the runner up. Most of them look way too skinny in costume to me. Granted I am basing my idea of Superman on All Star, Superman for All Seasons and the DC animated universe.
Never got the buzz for Novogratz but you conviced me, it'd be a nice pick for Gunn alongside some others! About next videos, a look in The Authority would be nice to some of us know the characters and get a casting pick but if I would choose I think a DCU's Batman Casting is the next point, The Brave and The Bold BABY
6:19 I see Peter Palmer has gotten his revenge!
If you want to see Winston Duke without a beard, watch season 4 of Person of Interest. Granted, it was a few years ago and he was maybe a little puffier in the cheeks than he is now, but as a bonus he totally nails the Clark/Superman switch in the same role. Also, any excuse to watch that show.
hes the best casting in this video but because he isnt white the internet will riot.....his age doesnt matter because angela bassett is in her 60s and still looks like she did in her late 20s
I once had Alden Ehrenreich based on Solo but he's 33 now also there's probably a reason he's not on that list, but yes to Wolfgang Novogratz. Also I have Diego Calva as an immigrant Latin American Jimmy Olsen only something like Jimenez but Jimmy is his nickname. He'd have a story that's relatable to Kal El in the movie. But my big thing is Idris Elba as Lex Luthor, I feel he'd be just the right amount of evil yet sophisticated, egocentric and manipulative which would work as Luthor. Plus Luthor being older than Kal El makes total sense considering Lex is already big in metropolis when superman starts off.
Really interested in seeing your casting ideas for the DCU’s Batman
Sam Heughan
@@thebigpat799 His accent is pretty strong lol
I think the Wolfgang dude looks the part really well
Since there is talk about recasting the flash, I'd love to see your fancast. Or even a future team like JSA, JLA, or teen titans. However it may be too early for those to happen. Love your videos, you're awesome!
The american way is unironically absolute garbage so definitely I am in favour of the change. It also makes Superman far more internationally popular. How many countries have an axe to grind with the USA?
It’s probably unlikely that this will happen, but two of my fan casts are…
1. William Reeve - Very obvious reason why. He’s the son of Christopher Reeve and not only does he resemble him, but it’s also a nice passing of the torch. Plus, since the film is titled “Superman: Legacy,” it would be very fitting for William to honor his father’s legacy.
2. Joshua Orpin - He already played Superman’s clone on “Titans,” and he already resembles Superman as well. Why not give him a shot to play the real Superman.
William Reeve hasn’t acted since he was like 13 years old
Wolfgang is just perfect
Awesome picks! Can't wait for when casting comes out !!
