    I’m a child of the 80s and 90s but Pokemon only hit my radar when my son got into them. Now we collect them together and it’s a fun father-son activity. We watched your videos on understanding the rarity of cards and found it super helpful!

      Wow, thank you so much for the kind comment! I really appreciate that, and it really means a lot that I could help you and your son out! Extremely informative thank you so much. I’ve just gotten back into collecting and it’s nice to really know what I have now to really appreciate them! Turns out I had a good stack of cool ones and didn’t even really think about it at the time of pulling. Now going forward every card I open is getting sleeved and organized, and I’ll actually know what I’m looking at!

      That's a good idea though, definitely sleeve every card you pull! Those scratches and dents can drop a cards value significantly unfortunately, so don't have to worry at all when it's protected!
      Let me know if you need any help with your card though--identifying any and whatnot!

    Thats the trick! You can sell your card at any price you want but if you want to sell it in a decent amount of time you have to be in the price range of what people are selling it for. I always go down a little over the rest so I can sell and gain a good reputation then I can sell a little higher price in the future

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  4 місяці тому

      You’re exactly right! Especially if you’re just starting out on something like eBay, nobody will pay more, or even the same, for your card, when they could buy from a trusted and reputable seller instead. It’s a risk, after all. So, you have to make that risk worthwhile by making your price slightly cheaper, usually 10-15%. And eventually you can slowly bring your prices up, even sell for a premium!

    The explanation of the symbols and 'rarities' were very helpful, thank you. I opened my first pack of tcg cards for the first time since the early 2000s. Managed a gold super rod with extremely poor centering 😂. Obviously when I was younger it was never about the monetary value. I will think about what I am doing whether it be collecting a specific mon or type and therefore buy singles OR just keep buying booster packs. We shall see.

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  4 місяці тому +1

      I’m really glad you found the video helpful! Personally, I prefer a combination of both opening packs, and buying singles. Obviously, it’s a A LOT of fun to open packs, isn’t it, but it can get quite expensive… and, you aren’t guaranteed anything at all. But when you do pull something, what a rush! It becomes so meaningful. And, on the singles side, you can buy some really nice cards for $2-$5 dollars. So, I open packs for the fun, but don’t go overboard, and spend the rest on a few nice singles!

    As an aside, thanks for mentioning the "sold listings" part. I've been selling on eBay and other sites for over 10 years and it's mind boggling to me that people don't realize that people can set whatever price they want (but it only matters what it will actually sell for). Hi. Thanks for all the tips in the videos (I just subscribe). Can I just ask for one final tip?
    I got a hyper rare secret nest ball, and im wonder: does the price normally increase over time or it decrease?
    And I have got some cards that I can’t find any match for them, how do I price them? (For example I got a rare reverse holo armarouge)

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  Рік тому +1

      Hey! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video :D
      That gold nest ball is a nice card! As for the price, it can be tough to tell. Like I said, a card is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay! Obviously, as the card becomes old, it may go up in value, but who knows. Definitely hold on to it though!
      As for the cards you are having a tough time with, if you head to 11:46, I have a whole section on pricing cards! In the case of the Armarougue, look up “Armarough 41/198” (I believe that’s right), on eBay or TCGplayer, and you should find the price! I believe it’s about a $1 card

    That was so much fun watching those be ripped again. I still remember buying four boxes of 86-87 Fleer when I was 16 years old and got four boxes for $60! They were $15 a box back then! I pulled a total of 11 jordan rookies out of four boxes. Most I sold over the years being young and dumb but I still have five of them including a sealed pack with Jordan being the top card you can see. I got offered $29,090 for that pack but it’s being left to my boys when I’m gone so they can learn to love the hobby just as much as I do

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  10 місяців тому +1

      I think you might have the wrong video here, but inspiring nonetheless, lol! I knew nothing at all about basketball cards, but now I do!
      Also, that pack you have sounds awesome (the one with the Jordan)! It's definitely not a bad idea to keep it for yourself, but honestly, there's no shame in selling it either. 30k is a serious chunk of change! And honestly, at the end of the day, it's just a thing! If you can let it go, maybe wouldn't be a bad idea to take the cash, and go on a nice vacation with your boys, and family. Maybe a couple lol! It's the memories that mean the most, not the things!

      I personally would take that almost $30,000 deal. Anything could happen a fire, flood, theft, even economy could collapse. I would sell it and possibly buy gold reasonably safe and your kids would have an easier time selling gold than a Jordan card. Just my opinion. Still awesome to own something so valuable. Happy hunting.

      Not a problem at all! I'm really glad I could help! Although, this video is more focused towards modern cards, vintage is an entirely new beast! With vintage cards, it really depends on the card itself, the rarity doesn't matter so much. Typically, any card you see with some kind of holographic effect might be the most valuable. But, I would recommend going to part 2 of this video, and looking up the individual value of your cards. eBay would be the best for vintage. Just enter the name of the card, as well as it's set number (for vintage, this will be in the bottom right), and hit sold listings. Here you can average price!
      Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions at all, I'd be happy to help!
      **Also, I realize I'm referring to these cards as "vintage", haha they aren't actually THAT old! I worry when the cards I grew up with will soon be called "vintage"...**

    Thank you very much for this. I have one additional question. Some of my double gold star cards have open stars, while one other has filled in stars. Does that make a difference? All three cards are from the Paldean Fates set. Thanks in advance!

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  2 місяці тому

      Ah! So, Pokemon actually introduced a new rarity symbol in Palawan Fates, that’s what you’re seeing!
      I made a short on that actually, maybe this will help:
      Find SHINY RARE Pokemon!
      ua-cam.com/users/shortsHXwbPBEQ4eA?feature=share
      But in short, the single outlined gold star is a “shiny rare”. In terms of rarity, pull rates are similar to a single gold star illustration rare. The double outlined gold star would be a “shiny ultra rare”, roughly equivalent in rarity to a double silver star, ultra rare.

    hey i’ve had this opinion for a while, you don’t have listen to me because you can make your own decisions and it’s your channel. The main thing that drew me to your content was the way you presented information as well as your tone and over the past couple months those two things have changed and your views have decreased, i’d assume those two reasons are why. This is just a recommendation and to make you aware. Thanks if you read this and another thank you for all the helpful content👍

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  Рік тому +43

      Hey circle! I really appreciate the comment actually. The change in tone was definitely an intentional choice, I've been trying to make the videos a little more lively and energetic. I'm assuming when you refer to the way I present information, that has to do with editing style, which of course, in this video especially, is extra colourful and exciting(is that the word?).
      But is it a good change? Who knows. Looking at all the big Poketubers, theyre far more crazy then me haha. Poketev, UnlistedLeaf, Deep Pocket Monster, they all kind of have this energetic facade. I'm assuming that's because the majority of their audience is younger kids, and I'm assuming mine is as well.
      But with UA-cam, who really knows. I'm a small channel, so I'm just throwing anything at the wall, and seeing what sticks! Maybe if the new style isn't working, I'll try a video with the older style, see how that works.
      I just love making videos, so I'm happy to do anything!
      I really do appreciate the comment though, that's definitely something I will think about. Actually, my dad said the same thing yesterday.
      I'm curious though, what do you think was the last "good" video in your eyes? The last with the old style mostly? And which videos are your favorite? So that I can have a bit of a reference! And, if you have any other constructive criticism, I'd definitely like to hear it!
      Honestly, it means the most to me that you care enough to even leave a comment. And if you read all of this, that extra means a lot! Haha!

      @@Witkomon Of course man, I only want the best for you. I really appreciate you replying and thanks to your "How to Tell if Your Pokémon Cards Are Rare or Expensive!" video, I was able to make quite a bit of money, so I figured the least I could do is be sincere and offer a recommendation.
      To answer your question, "How to Draw Your Own Pokémon Cards!" from approximately a year ago was the last video you did that really made an impression on me. I still find the time to view all of your videos, though. I've seen that your instructional and informative videos often get high views, therefore I'd want to see more of those. You're good at imparting knowledge; you could do a video showing how to draw or make a certainthing, but you've done a number of those already, and I don't want people to think you're repetitive.
      I was really intrigued to follow your channel because you were distinct from the other pokemon channels, which are all very similar and have been losing viewers and money. I just want you to have the success you were hoping for so I thought I'd let you know.
      But in the end, it's your channel, so I'll keep supporting whatever content you post even if it's not what I was hoping for. Thank you once more for the response and all the great videos. Take care! (Sorry for the late response I was at school)

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  21 день тому

      Honestly, it differs quite a bit depending on where you live… but, you have a couple options. You can take your cards to a local card shop, they often buy cards, though they will usually give 30-50% less than market value. This is probably the easiest though. You can also sell your cards in person on some kind of marketplace platform, such as Facebook marketplace, Kijiji etc. This is also quite easy, and allows you to meet people in person. Finally you can sell online! Platforms like eBay and TCGplayer are great, but you have to deal with fees and shipping

    • @Witkomon
      @Witkomon  2 місяці тому

      So, those are Jumbo cards. All of them, are basically promo cards. Most often, they are a jumbo version of a standard card, included at the front of a box. It depends entirely on the card, so you’ll have to look up each one individually to find the value, but unfortunately most jumbo cards are really not worth that much. Significantly less than their standard version, at least. The market is just not that big for jumbo cards. Most will be worth around $10-$20, but, there are some exceptions for some more rare/desirable cards!
