I had a large collection back in the 90’s-2000’s & I lost them all due to an ex purposely destroying them. I’m now collecting again & your channel has been such a huge help.
Ahh, that’s so unfortunate! It is what it is though, in the past! It’s awesome that you’re enjoying Pokémon card collecting again! It’s quite a bit different now than it was back then, but it’s a lot of fun nonetheless! And I’m really glad I could be a little part of your enjoyment :) If you just started collecting recently, I would recommend the brand new Scarlet and Violet 151 set that just came out a few days ago! It features only the original 151 Pokemon, so you’ll definitely recognize a bunch! It’s the classics, Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, etc.! Pull rates are great too, so you might actually get to pull some nice hits without feeling like you wasted your money (trust me, I know the feeling all too well, haha!) Actually, this set has reinvigorated my interest in the hobby a bit too! So if you get a chance to open some, I think it’ll be a treat!
This is the best “how to tell if it’s fake” video I have seen. Excellent job with your explanations. I went straight to our cards and finally felt like I knew what I was doing trying to find the fake ones. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for the kind comment, it really means a lot! I’m glad you found the video helpful, and that you were able to sort through your collection!! That was the intention of the video, so it means I did good! :D But the best?! There are a ton of videos on UA-cam-made by much bigger UA-camrs-so to be the best is definitely something! I appreciate it! If you have any questions, or need any help at all though, don’t hesitate to ask, I’m happy to help!
i have a charizard ex golden but light goes through it, but everything else is right i got the card from a pack in england so idk if its fake but every thing else is correct
Hmm, with a full gold textured card, I wouldn't think light would pass through at all. Usually with any kind of holos there's none at all. How much light do you see? Is it perhaps very faint? If so, it could still be real, with some real cards there might be some very slight bleed. Nothing major though
I'm not sure what camera your using but damn the quality is amazing, also thanks for the help spotting fake cards, appreciate the help. Awesome content
Hey! I’m so sorry for the late reply, but thank you so much! I’m really glad I was able to help you spot some fakes! Aaaand I’m really glad you liked the camera quality, haha! It’s a Sony ZV-E10 if you’re curious, with the 16-55mm kit lens. I used to film everything with my Dad’s iPhone, but then kind of forced myself to learn a proper camera. It’s a bit of a learning curve for sure, but I think it’s worth it! Lately I’ve been getting even more into “filmmaking”. If you have any questions about Pokemon cards, or anything at all about camera equipment, I’d be more then happy you help :D
I remember opening a box with 4 promos and 5 tins. One of the promos, a dialga holo (112/203 from evolving skies), had bold text it looked more like theyd just gotten an ink refill and some of the ink bled a bit. I checked everything else on it and it seemed legit, it even had the black line on the edge. the holo pattern looked just like the real one my brother has and other than the bold text, it passes all the tests. I looked unline for some things and I did see some records of this but I’m still not completely sure about it. not sure what to do about it now😊
Hmm, that sounds like a printing error to me. I wouldn't necessarily class it a "misprint", though. I actually have some cards with extra bold text myself. It makes the font look quite different of course, so I can see why you might think that it's fake. If you bought it from a reputable place (the box you're talking about is Costco exclusive, so perhaps there?), and everything else checks out, it's probably real. The bold text doesn't really add value, doesn't take value away either, so it's personal preference! It's definitely more uncommon then the regular variant though, so maybe it could be worth a little more to the right collector!
Great video, thank you for taking the time to help collectors identify whether a card is fake. Just one thing I want to point out is I think that light shines through cards from the base set when you shine a light against them. Please correct me if I am mistaken. Keep up the great work!
Actually, you’re right, this is the case only with non-holographic cards though- I found out only after the video! With holographic cards (from any generation, at least all that I tested), weather they be a basic holo or ex etc., there will be zero bleed. With non-holos though, there _may_ be _slight_ bleed. Not a lot at all though. With fakes, it will typically be very obvious
Aww, thank you so much for the kind comment! Your support really means a lot, especially from the beginning?! That’s a long time! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the videos since then! It means I’m doing something right, right?! Last time I did a collection reveal was 2016… Hmm, maybe I’m due for another aren’t I! Maybe sometime, I’ll have to think of something interesting to do with it, but it’s a good idea! Thanks again :D
Hmmm, well border alignment is perhaps the most inconsistent of the checks… Mostly because every card has unique border alignment-usually very similar though. This is unlike, say, font, where it’s either correct, or wrong. It either has the right font, or it’s straight up fake. Real cards MOST OFTEN have perfect to near-perfect borders, although there are times that a real card might have an incredibly off-centre border. Likewise, fake cards MOST OFTEN have very off-centre borders, but there are times it may be pretty good. If your card is very off-centre, it might be a good reason to dig deeper, but not necessarily conclusive if everything else checks out. If you’ve looked at everything else, and it all seems good (flashlight, black line are pretty darn conclusive), then it’s most likely a real card! Just off-centre, LOL! If you’d like though, send me a picture on Instagram @witkomon, I can let you know for sure!
i have a question, if i shine my flashlight from my phone, and the light doesn’t shine through, does that means it’s guaranteed real, or are there still some other factors that will determine if it’s real or not
So, more so, if the flashlight *does* shine through, then it’s guaranteed fake. It’s an easy way to easily eliminate some fakes. This is the case with all English cards (unless there are very obscure cards printed on extremely thin paper that I’m not aware of, but I don’t believe that’s the case). If it doesn’t shine through at all, then there’s a good chance your card is real, as most fakes are made thin and cheap, but not 100%. There are SOME fakes that may be thicker, though not super common. Just to be safe, I’d check with a few other steps as well!
Yes! All of the tips in the video would stay the exact same. Fakes then, had the same issues that fakes now still have. Nothing has changed, you're still looking for spelling mistakes, attack/HP numbers, as well as font, colour, holo etc. Just make sure that you use an old card as a reference!
Great video as usual! This video will definitely help people when they are deciding to buy Pokemon cards. Let’s just hope the yt algorithm is kind to you 😂, because you put a lot of effort into your videos. And even though they have their downsides, fake cards can be a good alternative to people who can’t afford or aren’t willing to pay for real cards. As we saw in your last video, some of the fake cards were actually pretty cool. Sorry for the long comment 😂, but keep up the great work
Hey Requiem/Glitch! Thanks so much for the kind comment! I really appreciate it :) But LOL. Let’s hope the algorithm is kind to me indeed! So far, not so much, haha! But, I’m thinking it should start to pick up steam as time passes. Sooo many people (like, A LOT) have sent me DMs asking if their cards are real, many comments on my videos as well, so that was the main reason for this video! Hopefully it can help people out, and hopefully, I can now refer people to this video, instead of having to write out long paragraphs for them haha! From now on, I’m thinking I might alternate between “safe” and more “experimental videos”. This is a safe video, the last one was pretty experimental, and the two before were pretty safe. But, the next one, I’m going to do something CRAZY. Not a single video like it on UA-cam, it’ll be awesome! It involves paint, Pokemon cards, and something else, in a way that has never been done before! So it’ll be a lot of fun! I’m working on the video now, hopefully I can get it out within a few weeks! I really do appreciate the kind comments on every single video though, it means a lot! More to come!
my Nessa Rainbow Trainer card passed everything but the back test and the only thing wrong with it is the red part on the poke ball and i still arent sure if its real or not
Hmm, what's wrong with the red part on the poke ball of your card? If it passes EVERY test;except that, I'd be inclined to say that it's probably real... it wouldn't be fake and pass everything else, that'd be nearly impossible!
Thank you so much! That’s awesome you’re getting back into collecting, now is a good time lots of good sets coming out! I’m glad you found the video helpful :D
I was able to get a collection at Goodwill the other day and it included some large jumbo cards, 6 X 8.5 inches, how can I tell if these are real or fake? do they have the same characteristics? thank
Well, no need to rip cards, really! When you're ripping a card, you're essentially just checking for the black layer in between, which you can just check an edge to see as well! No need to rip!
Not necessarily, the type of holo depends entirely on the card! Some have different then others. I would recommend looking up a picture of your card online, and comparing yours with that. Does the holo look similar?
As someone new to Pokemon cards, this video is fantastic. It is explained well and so helpful. This will make collecting with my grandson much easier and much more fun. TFS
Hi, just wondering i have a 2016 charizard 11/108. It had no rarity symbol and right on top of the 150hp it wrote "Put charizard on the Basic Pokémon" i believe is fake right?
Not necessarily! Charizard 11/108 is a real Pokemon card, it’s the 2016 reprint of the original base set, it was a set called “Evolutions”. Everything you’ve said checks out, so unless there’s something else, it could definitely be real! And if it is, that’s quite a valuable card too!
Hmm, yes Japanese cards are an entirely different ball-game! Perhaps some time in the future, although, to be honest, I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about Japanese cards as I am English! I've been an English collector since I was young!
Me too! Lugia is definitely one of my absolute favorite legendaries,, second only after Groudon I think! I even have him in my background, he's awesome! Also, I'm glad you enjoyed the video :D
I thought the highest was 340 for attack and damage because you said if its higher than 1000 it fake but then you went to ex and gx and they have 200 to 300 hp, if its over its also fake im just confused?
Yes! Actually, I've been working on a video for about 3 months now! It's quite a huge video, and I'm really proud of it so far! It's nearly done, hopefully it will be up within a week or two! And it's definitely a custom "something" ;)
Ok so to identify the fakes before you even open the pack is to first just look at the top. If the top has ridges it’s fake. A real pack will always have a flat top with no tears. Also identifying old cards is much harder because they have darker/lighter backs.
Hmm, it depends… If you’re buying straight from Amazon (sold, and shipped by Amazon) you’re most likely all right. If it’s fulfilled by Amazon, you’re also most likely all right. If it’s sold and shipped by a third party, well, that’s when it can get sketchy, so in that case, make sure you’re buying from a seller with good reviews. Honestly, I would say Amazon is pretty good for the most part. Especially, because if you do end up with fake cards, they have a very good return policy, and you’ll get your money back. The main thing I’d be worried about with Amazon is shipping, things can definitely get damaged, so if you’re buying something to keep it sealed, probably not the best, but if you’re opening, doesn’t matter!
I have a sylveon v that I think is a fake. I got it from my friend. His mom said she sometimes buys fake cards. It has no black line and light can go through it but everything else didn’t happen.😭😭😭
Should have known better I live in india and fakes are more common because real booster packs are a lot of money and I got that vmax snorlax from my friends birthday party it was yesterday when I first posted this his were also fake but they are good quality so ig its a w card and borders are in correct format and the cards look the same so when keeping them together it looks cool and cards are randomized in every pack do you think it's a W?
Hmm, unfortunately I’m not sure a card like that exists. Mega Pokemon cards were a thing of the X Y era, so around 2014-2017) I don’t believe Mega Pokemon cards have appeared since. And, since VMAX cards are from the Sword and Shield era (2020-2023), it wouldn’t be possible for them to cross
Witkomon, im not sure if my Blacephalon is fake, it is more skinny than a usual normal pokemon gx, ex etc. But it has this (i think) janpanese signture and some people had it while i was doing some info on it. Pleasee help me! i hope you get this soon (and reply)
Pretty much all of these tips come down to errors on the counterfeiters end. Incorrect spelling, typos, missing textures, ect. The black ink line can be faked too from my understanding. So to me if feels like there would be no way of catching a fake if it was made well, makes me wonder how many "real" cards out there are actually fakes.
Hey! I’m sorry for the late reply, but you’re right, something it can be very hard to tell. All of the errors I’ve pointed out _can_ be corrected on certain cards, and high quality fakes certainly do exist. But, I’ve never ever seen a card that gets everything right. SOMETHING is always off, especially as the cards get more complicated with certain textures and the such. 99% of the time I’d say it’s very obvious, like the black line, spelling, etc. That 1% of the time it’s a little harder, but even in those cards, colours (especially on the back) are often off, and the weight/thickness is never quite right either
@@Witkomon "But, I’ve never ever seen a card that gets everything right" That's the point I'm making, if they were well made without obvious issues you would never know. You might have had fakes ones you just never noticed because they got it all right.
Very true, if they WERE 100% identical, it would be impossible to tell. Fortunately for us though, I don’t think they exist (yet, at least lol). Just like perfect fakes for things like watches, or even smartphones phones don’t exist. Because to make a perfect fake would not only be insanely difficult (they’d need access to the Pokemon Company’s exact printing factories, etc.), but it would also be expensive, which would kind of defeat the purpose of fakes. Fakes just need to fool people, make a quick buck, but I mean, it doesn’t need to be good at all. The manufacturers don’t care about customer satisfaction, they don’t care about reputation, nothing like that. As long as it’s *good enough* to get somebody to buy it, they’ve made their money. And they’re not selling the kind of volume the Pokemon Company is, so they need to make it for as cheap as possible. But I totally get what you’re saying. Ultimately, Pokemon cards, especially the basic ones, are definitely easier to fake then a phone, lol. They’re just a piece of cardboard with some printing. And if someday they really do manage to make perfect fakes….well, I guess we’ll be able to have as many copies of really expensive cards as we want, and nobody will be able to tell the difference lol!
LOL! Good thing I did, and don't worry, you definitely don't have to go THAT far! There are much easier (and less drastic lol) ways to find if a Pokemon card is fake!
Unfortunately yes...About 99% I'd say. No Pokemon should have that much HP, and I have never seen any VMAX card with remotely as much. Does anything else about your card stand out as being fake?
you cant all ways go by coloring or centering trust of i have pulled common's uc's and rares from pack's with major coloring and centering differences it will happen its a manufacturing thing ink runs out towards the end of runs ect human error loading into the cutting machine i.e like you say more valuable, other than that great video just hope nobody throughs one away or rips a major card thinking the ink looks off or centering is not 100% and it was worth who knows lol
Errors like this are INSANELY rare though, the vast majority of people will never come across them ever. So, for 99.9% these tips are totally fine. For that 0.01% though, I do have a section on misprints just for them! Because usually, a real card with a misprint has one major error, but a lot of other things will check out. Colour might be off, but texture and holo are good, cardstock is good. Since they’re still real cards, just with a factory error. With a fake though, all of these things will be off.
Wish I’d seen this video earlier, sadly bought 3 cards from a local store, mega rayquaza 2015, 2012 Groudon ex, and 2014/15 mega kyogre and I checked all the signs and they were fake. Even worse is that the mega rayquaza I had bought was the card I had always wanted and looked for 😢
Aww, man, that’s so sad to hear… You’re sure they’re fake? Definitely make sure before you jump to conclusions, but if it’s obvious, then that sucks… I know exactly what cards you’re talking about, that Mega Rayquaza is actually also a card I’ve always wanted. It’s a really nice one! Maybe take the cards back to the shop, show them that they’re fake, see if you can get a refund… best case scenario you get your money back, worst case scenario it’s a lesson… A somewhat expensive lesson, but it could have been worse… and hey, the cards may be fake, but you can still enjoy them! Afterall, real cards are still just shiny pieces of cardboard anyway right?!
Also, my friend wanted to trade me this golden rayquaza an hour ago, but you helped me figure it out I mean it was kinda obvious because it had no texture but I still wanna thank you!
No problem, I’m really glad I can help! It certainly depends on the card though, there can be exceptions! That’s why you should always compare the card to an image online, if you aren’t sure! But, if it’s a full art gold Rayquaza, it should have texture, even if it’s the less obvious version on the black and gold cards
my espeon and deoxys gx has no shine it has black star and my cobalion has no rarity and umbereon and darkai gx has no shine it does not have / in the 125236. Its fake i think
Hmm yeah, all GX cards should have shine. Either it could be some kind of rare misprint, or if you've found a bunch of other strange cards, then it's probably fake ...
Personally, I’ve used eBay! I’ve had success buying both sealed, and single cards there. Find a seller with good prices, and good prices, and you should be fine! Japanese cards used to be a lot cheaper than English cards actually, so I used to buy the artworks I liked in Japanese to get a better price lol! Now, I believe they’re more or less the same, so it’s preference!
With the ripping you could just rip a tiny bit and see if theres a black line of course there is gonna be a rip but if you really cant check and you want to rip it but not fully rip it then this way of ripping it slightly is better but you can do what you want personally its what i do as a last resort
Well, personally I wouldn’t rip anything at all, no matter what! It doesn’t really achieve anything! If you aren’t sure, so much so that you need to rip the card to find out, then that means there’s a chance that the card could be real… And, if you rip a real card, that’s not worth the risk at all! But, if you ARE sure that the card is fake, well, no need to confirm it with a rip right? There are probably other significant giveaways.
@@Witkomon I totally agree i dont rip cards that much i rarely do it its when i think a card is fake i sometimes do it but not all the time the points you make in the video are great!
@CatSomething Hey, if you want to rip your cards go for it lol! I’ve destroyed a fair amount of cards making art haha!I’m glad you enjoyed the video though :D
Thank you for making this video because recently I bought a PSA 7 flashfire 2014 charizard ex for 100$ and thanks to you now I know its not fake. Thank you I love your content.
No problem at all! I’m really glad I could help, and I’m so happy to hear you enjoy the videos! Charizard from Flashfire is AWESOME, such a cool card, I’m jealous! Especially that you have it in a slab! Did you get the full art, or the regular EX? Honestly, you can’t go wrong either way, both look so cool!
Nope! There are definitely non-holographic cards that are real, and the same rules apply! You simply don't have to worry about matching the holo pattern/texture etc.
Convenient Stores in Taiwan sell Pokémon Cards and they even have a promo. One more thing sellers are afraid to tell a lie if they sell fake or original cards because they take the law seriously.
thanks for this video! I always wanted to know if my cards were real, but I never really knew what to look for. Now I know and I am very happy with that. I also have a question: is an Evolving Skies Booster Box for $137 too good to be true? because it is normally the most expensive set of sword and shield. and I don't want to risk that $137.
Haha, you and me both! I’m working on a really fun one for the next video though, something I’ve never done before, nor anybody else on UA-cam! At least, not at all like it. So we’ll see! In any case, these videos take time in the algorithm to pick up. Usually a couple months, to a year. The vast majority of my users are nor subscribers, but rather people being recommended videos, and searching for them!
I just bought a a pack of 10 pokemon cards today from my society store, and I had some problems with it. it was of course unaligned, but that was the only problem, it passed all the other tests except for the light one. Another doubt is that I really cant tell that there is a black sheet inbetween because it is too thin, so will it be a fake? I really want to start collecting pokemon cards, but i cant as the sources r not good here. BTW love from India!
Hey! So, alignment can be tricky… Pokémon cards are not always perfect! If it’s relatively minor, it shouldn’t be a problem. As for the light test, you might see a little bit of light on a non-holographic card (one that is not shiny), but it shouldn’t be a crazy amount. And as for the black line, I know, it’s tough to spot! If you have doubts though, I’d be inclined to say it’s probably there! On a fake card, it’s just pure white, it’s quite obvious! If you checked everything else, the colours, the fonts, the holograms pattern, and everything checks out, I’d be inclined to say that it’s real! If you’d like to be sure though, you can always DM me on Instagram @witkomon, and I can check it out for you!
Again though, alignment can be off on real cards! But yeah, if it was every single card, and it was VERY off, then unless it's an error or misprint card (which is possible, though incredibly rare), it's probably fake
Same rules apply, gold cards are essentially the same exact thing as a full art card, only gold (as the name implies, haha). So, main things to look out for, texture and holographic shine, in addition to more basic things like spelling etc.
And before that, it was created in a lab by scientist, but they made it far too powerful, so it broke out, and vowed revenge on its creators--humanity. (That's MewTwo's origin story, but I can see that happening with a chatmander/ponyta too, pretty strong)
I just bought 7 holo cards from 2021 worth 1000€+ and I paid 3.5€ for them.. it seems too good to be true but it passed all the checks I did from this video, it was on an outside market with a lot of stuff that aren’t Pokémon cards, so maybe he just sold his kids old cards?? Idk
Yep, I saw your other comment too! It's a good idea, definitely a possibility! People actually seem to be enjoying this video quite a lot, so I may do that as well! Fake Pokemon packs, maybe spotting booster boxes and other fake products as well! We'll see!
Bro, they switched out my Pokémon cards. I got some real ones and the good ones they switched it out. Some of them are real don’t get me wrong but it’s just like damn why switch out to give me Fake ones
I have a rainbow charizard v max black edition Can't understand if it's fake or not I actually bought it from those black, rare, limited edition packets. The card is quite more flexible than usual, The graphics seem to be ok Anyone here can tell me, please, if it's fake or not. I just bought it today. How much will it worth? (If it's real).
With holographic cards, there should be absolutely no bleed at all... With regular commons or uncommons, depending on the card you might see *slight* bleed, but nothing like you would see on a fake card
Aww, that’s unfortunate, but I’m glad I could help you find out! Honestly though, just because they’re fake, doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy them! At the end of the day, what are Pokémon cards except something to look at right!
I found this video to be quite useful sometime soon, however, when I went to like the video, it turned out that I disliked the video, which made it harder for me to find it again, and I had to go back to my Watch later to find it again, but this time, I made sure to like the video, twice!
relying on a picture for comparison is a very questionable practice. Depending on the lighting, camera, and other factors, a card can look vastly different in terms of saturation, color balance, etc.
At wicth shops can you buy real pokemon cards at 90% of them they all were fake😐bc i relaized my only real card was the LunalaGX my friend gave me for my 60hp pikachu he loved pikachu i still have it bc its probb my only rral one
Any *reputable* retailer should be good! Of course, the sketchy guy at the convenience store may not be trusted. But, big-box stores, or smaller stores that *specialize* in cards are alot more reliable. I did actually talk about this in the video! Head to Part: 3 Tips to Avoid Fake Cards! Maybe this will help!
And I’m really glad I could be a little part of your enjoyment :)
If you just started collecting recently, I would recommend the brand new Scarlet and Violet 151 set that just came out a few days ago! It features only the original 151 Pokemon, so you’ll definitely recognize a bunch! It’s the classics, Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, etc.! Damnnn if I was you the ex would already be dead
There goes half my childhood cards 😂😂😂😂
This is the best “how to tell if it’s fake” video I have seen. Excellent job with your explanations. I went straight to our cards and finally felt like I knew what I was doing trying to find the fake ones. Thank you!!

i have a charizard ex golden but light goes through it, but everything else is right i got the card from a pack in england so idk if its fake but every thing else is correct
Hmm, with a full gold textured card, I wouldn't think light would pass through at all. Usually with any kind of holos there's none at all. How much light do you see? Is it perhaps very faint? If so, it could still be real, with some real cards there might be some very slight bleed. Nothing major though
its very faint like atleast 50% less than the amount of light that went through on ur fake card
@@Witkomon
Japanese cards Do Not have a black line though
Thank you I got some of those pretty cool even if they fake
They have a light blue line .
What if they are 1996 cards cause I recently got a surfing Pikachu card from 1996 and I can't tell if it has a blue or a black line

This is by far 1 of the best vids out there, to many copy cat clowns that just stick to the Rip & size. Great work brother 👊
another tip:see if your card has texture
usually hr/ur or any of that has sparkly textures its real. a fake one is just plain smooth
Exactly! I did mention that in the video actually, but you're right, texture is a big one!
what's the best series/set to collect right now? for returning collector hehe, thanks
I remember opening a box with 4 promos and 5 tins. One of the promos, a dialga holo (112/203 from evolving skies), had bold text it looked more like theyd just gotten an ink refill and some of the ink bled a bit.
I’m bought some Pokemon cards from a Hong Kong toys r us and there no black line but there is a blue one. Is it real or fake?
@Witkomon Great thanks for clearing that up. The information you have provided has been really helpful for me to identify any fake cards I may have.
Another awesome video 💯 i’ve been with you from the beginning it’s nice to see that your still putting out bangers. Next video collection reveal?
Aww, thank you so much for the kind comment! Your support really means a lot, especially from the beginning?! That’s a long time! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the videos since then! It means I’m doing something right, right?!
Last time I did a collection reveal was 2016… Hmm, maybe I’m due for another aren’t I! Maybe sometime, I’ll have to think of something interesting to do with it, but it’s a good idea!
Thanks again :D
I have a really nice full art Falinks card and it passed all the test but the center of the card. But I still have a gut feeling it might be fake…
@@Witkomon thanks for the feedback!
No problem! Let me know if you need anything else, I'm happy to help!
Dude I have a 100% real box from retail store and with my flashlight IT shines trough every Card 😂😂
@@D.H.1998 if you see the black paper through it then it means its real.
Does all these rules apply on my older generation 1 Pokémon cards?
I really appreciate it :)
But LOL.
More to come!
i got this this got this in my recommended
@@Witkomon Really excited to see your upcoming video! I'll be here for it 👍
my Nessa Rainbow Trainer card passed everything but the back test and the only thing wrong with it is the red part on the poke ball and i still arent sure if its real or not
Hmm, what's wrong with the red part on the poke ball of your card?
If it passes EVERY test;except that, I'd be inclined to say that it's probably real... it wouldn't be fake and pass everything else, that'd be nearly impossible!
This was a genuinely good video I’ve wanted to get back into collecting and seeing if my current cards were fake and this video helped alot
Thank you so much! That’s awesome you’re getting back into collecting, now is a good time lots of good sets coming out! I’m glad you found the video helpful :D
2:32 I just love how you put the bidoof even though it says fake card
Haha! The card was just too funny LOL
the part that scared me the most is 3:39, I got a primal kyogre ex, no spelling mistakes, no high hp, and nothing stands out.
Hey I have a question
Can I always use the flashlight truck ti identify the fake?
I was able to get a collection at Goodwill the other day and it included some large jumbo cards, 6 X 8.5 inches, how can I tell if these are real or fake? do they have the same characteristics? thank
So my cards are fake. I lost 167 cards 😔
Oof, tough luck 😢
well… at least you found out 😅
Or once you have lots of energy just rip the one in the pack and if you see the black layer all your cards in the pack are real
Well, no need to rip cards, really! When you're ripping a card, you're essentially just checking for the black layer in between, which you can just check an edge to see as well! No need to rip!
Mine didn’t even have a number on it. All it said was 2014 Pokémon.
No numbers at all? Are you sure? That's strange... Maybe check again? It should be somewhere in either the bottom right, or left
My bad I forgot you said that😂
Is it if any light passes through or a significant amount?
Thanks witkomon, very helpfyl
No problem! I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
Another amazing video
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
And also, can you help me out? I got a card but it only shines a teeny tiny bit, so does that mean it’s still fake?
Not necessarily, the type of holo depends entirely on the card! Some have different then others. I would recommend looking up a picture of your card online, and comparing yours with that. Does the holo look similar?
They look the same but it’s hard to tell because of the lighting in the picture I wish I could send you a picture but that’s not how are UA-cam works
And also it was a Mewtwo V star
Actually, a picture would probably help a lot. Do you have instagram? You could DM me a picture @witkomon, and I'll take a look!
No, sorry I’m only 10 but if you have discord I can add you and show you
I love pokemon cards, me and my freinds battle everday, but i always lose. Do you have any tips of where or what pokemon cards to get?
@Witkomon wow, I didn't know that I thought it was fake because I been keeping it for 6 years and I thought it was fake..
You are awesome. Thanks for this. It helped me a lot
No problem! I’m glad I could help :D
is a pokemon card fake if it you tear it and has the black material in the middle throughout the card but a purple swirl on the back, than blue?
A purple swirl on the back? How purple are we talking, straight up purple, or blueish-purple? Either way, I wouldn't recommend ripping the card!
What if the card is gold?or black ? How do i know if its fake
What about error cards though and it's not fake is that possible?
Can you do one for Japanese Pokémon cards? Because I heard Japanese cards are thinner than English ones.
Hmm, yes Japanese cards are an entirely different ball-game! Perhaps some time in the future, although, to be honest, I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about Japanese cards as I am English! I've been an English collector since I was young!
Hey Witkomon I personally love lugi its a very strong Pokemon!
Strongest in Johto with 680 stats!!!
Anyways great Video!!!!!
Me too! Lugia is definitely one of my absolute favorite legendaries,, second only after Groudon I think! I even have him in my background, he's awesome!
Also, I'm glad you enjoyed the video :D
Witkomon I don't have many subs on my channel can I have a shout-out plz in ur next vid plz
I thought the highest was 340 for attack and damage because you said if its higher than 1000 it fake but then you went to ex and gx and they have 200 to 300 hp, if its over its also fake im just confused?
is there a chance to get fake pokemon card even though you bought it on toys r us
This is a great video
Thank you :)
Is there going to be another form of a custom something video anytime soon I really enjoy those
Yes! Actually, I've been working on a video for about 3 months now! It's quite a huge video, and I'm really proud of it so far! It's nearly done, hopefully it will be up within a week or two! And it's definitely a custom "something" ;)
Can fake booster packs have online codes
I have two Charizard VMAX cards
My cards are all sides are full black
I saw a video where a vuy torete card and showed that fake cards have black line inside.
My card has the black line but a bit of light passes thru...
Ok so to identify the fakes before you even open the pack is to first just look at the top. If the top has ridges it’s fake. A real pack will always have a flat top with no tears. Also identifying old cards is much harder because they have darker/lighter backs.
Is buying from Amazon a 50/50 chance of getting real or fake cards?
I have alot of those from early 2000's . I wonder if they have any value at all
Thank you for the guidance! ❤
I have a sylveon v that I think is a fake. I got it from my friend. His mom said she sometimes buys fake cards. It has no black line and light can go through it but everything else didn’t happen.😭😭😭
Hmmmm i have a vmax snorlax but the shine is star shaped does that mean it is fake?
It probably is... VMAX cards really only have that one holo pattern, that is the diagonal shine you see in the video, anything else is probably fake
How to tell a misprint? It’s really confusing.
is it only for vmax cards
Nope! I used VMAX cards as an example, but this applies to all cards
Can anyone tell me the set where the Mega Charizard X VMAX is from?
3:02 I thought he would say cut the Pokémon card and I didn’t want to cut my charizard
LOL! Good thing I did, and don't worry, you definitely don't have to go THAT far! There are much easier (and less drastic lol) ways to find if a Pokemon card is fake!
so.... watched the first two minutes but you said about 1000+ hp. i got a Blaziken vmax 3300 hp, is it fake 100%?
Thanks man for a second I thought my umbreon was fake but it's real thanks a alot though!
:)
my espeon and deoxys gx has no shine it has black star and my cobalion has no rarity and umbereon and darkai gx has no shine it does not have / in the 125236. Its fake i think
Hmm yeah, all GX cards should have shine. Either it could be some kind of rare misprint, or if you've found a bunch of other strange cards, then it's probably fake ...
Yay!! My iron bundie is not fake!
And... Do you know where to buy original Japanese cards via Internet?
Personally, I’ve used eBay! I’ve had success buying both sealed, and single cards there. Find a seller with good prices, and good prices, and you should be fine! Japanese cards used to be a lot cheaper than English cards actually, so I used to buy the artworks I liked in Japanese to get a better price lol! Now, I believe they’re more or less the same, so it’s preference!
@@Witkomon thanks! I'll do ~!

I got the full art.@@Witkomon
Does it need to be holographic to know if it's real ?
In part 3 what if someone using another account to trick you?
You have fake cards I heard Nintendo will send you the real one for free if you mail it to them

thanks for this video! I always wanted to know if my cards were real, but I never really knew what to look for. Now I know and I am very happy with that. I also have a question: is an Evolving Skies Booster Box for $137 too good to be true? because it is normally the most expensive set of sword and shield. and I don't want to risk that $137.

Can you make a video of how to identify fake gold card
The too good to be true tip is the best one!
Yep! Always use your intuition! If someone is willing to sell you an Umbreon VMAX card ($750!?) for only $100... well... Who would do that?!
wai my dracozolt gold Vmax has 330hp is that nornal
Yes! That is pretty much the peak of Pokemon card HP though, at least right now. I don't believe a card exists with more then 340 HP

I'm just waiting for another one of your vids to blow up
Haha, you and me both!
@@Witkomon Yes the alignment on some cards was just too off. Thank you very much for solving my doubts. You just earned a subscriber there
Again though, alignment can be off on real cards! But yeah, if it was every single card, and it was VERY off, then unless it's an error or misprint card (which is possible, though incredibly rare), it's probably fake
Super cool content 🎊🎊🎊
Thank you :)
What about the gold cards 🤔
Same rules apply, gold cards are essentially the same exact thing as a full art card, only gold (as the name implies, haha). So, main things to look out for, texture and holographic shine, in addition to more basic things like spelling etc.
i didn't know rapidash was named rapidsh, AND it evolved from charmander, but is real names is actually ponyta!
And before that, it was created in a lab by scientist, but they made it far too powerful, so it broke out, and vowed revenge on its creators--humanity. (That's MewTwo's origin story, but I can see that happening with a chatmander/ponyta too, pretty strong)

Wow! Definitely seems too good to be true, that’s an INSANE discount! But, if you’ve confirmed that they’re real, well hey, you lucked out!! Nice!

The can doesn't work anymore, they made it harder to break, but for some reason make them faze right thru. edit: maybe ny flashlight goes to hard
With holographic cards, there should be absolutely no bleed at all... With regular commons or uncommons, depending on the card you might see *slight* bleed, but nothing like you would see on a fake card

I found this video to be quite useful sometime soon, however, when I went to like the video, it turned out that I disliked the video, which made it harder for me to find it again, and I had to go back to my Watch later to find it again, but this time, I made sure to like the video, twice!
Aww, haha, thank you so much! I’m really glad you “liked” the video! I appreciate you turning that dislike into a like!
relying on a picture for comparison is a very questionable practice. Depending on the lighting, camera, and other factors, a card can look vastly different in terms of saturation, color balance, etc.
