you prolly dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream all of the new series on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my gf for the last months :)
Yes, and I don't know if there is another prominent drummer that can play from soft to off-the-chart hard as him and still maintain finesse and articulation. He has to dial the the intensity back in this drum clinic- he was close to puncturing a drum at points un the Jami play tough..You're righ: this is not normal drumming ability - it is insane.
he's breaking the beats down through various subdivision, from 32nd notes to 16th triplets to straight 16ths to 8th triplets to straight 8ths to dotted 8ths to dotted quarters to a quarter note, which sounds like he's slowing down when he's actually right on the beat; a really fucking cool effect!
SpoogeMaster 999 yes, you are correct; however, i am not claiming originality, as i am just a musician who likes to study music & passing along information to anyone who is interested in that information; again, though, it's a really fucking cool effect!
The drum dynamics in this song are just off the chart and so badass...D Carey is just awesome and is a total beast behind a drum kit...and a super cool guy as well
It's not as hard as it sounds.. The double bass drum makes it sound hard and impressive... It's harder to play the other patterns of the song than to play this
8:18 to 9:00 in this song is pure energy. Best section of the song at least from a drumming perspective. His first two hits of the cymbols at 8:22 should've taken them clean off the stands, he really went into them. You can visually see him erupt right at 8:22. Shows how much he really cares about the way he drums overall. Fucking...legend. Edit: Big up HuntingtonStreet/Huntingtonst1, been keeping Tool videos uploaded to UA-cam since the dawn of time. Great respect for your efforts.
He is one of my favourites yes, but even he makes mistakes! Yes, if you watch from 3:35 you'll hear it, he misses the stabs at the end of that section, then tries to bring it back. I think I've listened to this record too many times...
Mistake was clearly seen, but still ignoring it coz this song is fucking genius and drumming composition is shit insane 5x8 polyrhythms n sexy musical concepts ;) (y)
Danny was not wrong, the universe had lag in transforming awesomeness in real time space time while conserving first law of thermodynamics, and it failed, because it could not draw the energy needed for this to take place and maintaining e=MC2
Tool should do a concert with all of their "epic tracks". Lateralus, Rosetta Stoned, Third Eye, and Opiate, and then finishing somehow with Disgustipated
You can tell this is a song that he doesn't play very often, and it happens to be the most difficult one in their catalog. Probably a bit nervous here too
I've been playing for 4 years and I would say that it gets complicated at around 5:40 and so on just because thats how pretty much plays for the rest of the songs hands wise.
does anyone know what the cymbal he is hitting at 3:05 to finish the section just before maynard comes in? the cymbal highest cymbal on his left that is. some kind of china i think. all i know is i need it. it sounds particularly great in the mix on the record.
Hey, I'm making an amateur documentary on a progressive band, I was wondering if I could use your clip in a part of it? I would obviously credit it you
I believe he would say he bricked it throughout, and this wasn't one of his best renditions. Yet he still had fun and demonstrated how to play off the weird stuff that happens during songs sometimes. That's one reason why it's just a drummer thing.

There are drummers and then there are artists/composers. Carey is an artist. You simply cannot teach this stuff. The man is incredible

@Elliot Jordy definitely, I've been using instaflixxer for years myself =)
Nice bots, very convincing
@@darkySp Actually, the bot is correct... I, in fact, do not care.
Why do the two have to be separated?
best drummer in music history, who cares about him messing up for less than 10 seconds. he still is a bloody genius
was a nice save though..
@@Lethesys honestly yes that save was one of the most impressive parts.
Recovering from a stick drop like that and not loosing a beat....priceless!!!!
Nikita Bergseth when does it happen?
6:22
Speaking of losing, you can lose an extra "O" from loosing..
English is pretty tough huh
The dynamics he plays with (in this song, specifically) are insane.

the snare roll at 2:40 👌👌😩😩💯💯BRUH

3:39 DANNY.CAREY.MACHINE.BROKE.
3:44 "Danny.exe starts tilting his head" RECALIBRATING...
3:46 CALIBRATION.SUCCESFUL.
Can you believe this guy actually doesn't show up on some best drummer lists? Criminal
The drum dynamics in this song are just off the chart and so badass...D Carey is just awesome and is a total beast behind a drum kit...and a super cool guy as well
He probably gets more nervous for these type of events than he gets before 20,000 attendance concerts.
Screw the people that gave this a thumbs down. They don't know about anything and probably don't play a single instrument.
6:44 possibly the hardest drum piece to play..
Exactly...!!!! I've been trying to leatn to play that for so many weeks.
Seiser it’s so ridiculous... I’ll never for the life of me...
It's not as hard as it sounds.. The double bass drum makes it sound hard and impressive... It's harder to play the other patterns of the song than to play this
@@ierotheostampakos1811 Hop up there then 😂
Danny Carey is a time machine. More computer than drummer. So technical.
This song may be the true story of when Danny arrived on earth
You can see his mastery in motion with those last couple cymbal hits. Speed and power.
He is the most amazing drummer EVER!
i would wish it all away if i could've just seen danny play that day
G.O.A.T.?

Love that snare roll or whatever it's called...
The way it feels like it lingers on that last hit has more tension in it than any percussion I've ever heard.
he. is. a. BEAST!!!!! omfg
Probably the best drums he has ever played. Danny is the GOAT.
danny, danny, danny..... amazing again!
This video is freaking amazing

wich transitions into lost keys and then rosetta stoned. actually genius i think
How in hell the would do a live version of disgutipated ?
Holy fucking shit! Lol God damn Carey!
Absolute genius at work!
Siiiiiiiiiiiiik!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Danny is a legend!!! whoo!! go Danny!!😁
The best musician ever.

Metronome with limbs and kind heart
Fantastic drumming
The most powerful drummer in the universe alive🤘
too good
GOD.
Holy shit!
AMEN
danny fuckin' carey.....what a drummer!
WoW
Sos un capo, sobre porque me recordaste que cualquiera se puede equivocar jajajaja

Two Man and The Dog Productions I give you permission
Damn
Fucking beast mode
2 different rhythms on each arm in a some sections right?
I met him in 2002
is he using the novo china here ?
The camera is so still! Id lose my shit seeing and feeling at!
mmhm. 4 different rhythms on each limb, in some sections
Ms Hofmann - playing 4/4 on the clap with his left foot, bass drum in 5/8, hitting the snare in 3/4 while playing swiss triplets in 3/8... 🤤
THe dude is human as it turns out. Still a freaking monster though
Oh I can feel net neutrality. Banddwith Bummer , cant get a stream of my favorite drummer
did he mess up at 3:40?
yes, for about 1.5 seconds.... and the fact that he too is a human being comforts and frightens me at the same time
After 8:22-9:00 the drums definitely had a cigarette.
Drops his stick. Still plays like a boss.
GOD is an octopus 🐙 🥁
fuck yeah man you go!
His drumming really flows a lot better when hes not playing to a click or a backing track.
10:50 he hit the cymbals too early?
Where's Lateralus? That's the shit
gl n e other drummers
The one time Danny Carey fucks up.. 😟
He messed up 2 times here and recovered masterfully. What do you mean by fucking up?
@@maciejs3126 he missed his parts. Yes he still recovered very well but it lets me know he's not the perfect machine I thought he was 😆
Rosetta Stoned es muy jodida, si a Danny se equivocó, que nos espera nosotros los mortales

What the f*ck :O What does he listen to....
