Who needs drugs when you can listen to Tool. They help we get through some rough days and moments. Literally changed my life. Everything seems to make sense when I listen to them.
I find that rather moving when they hug together at the end. Four individuals coming together to create sublime art. Wonderful example of the human spirit in action. Thanks for your work guys.
There is no chance in hell that any other drummer is even close to this man. I've seen him live and it is mind boggling what he can do. He isn't human, by far the greatest to ever sit behind a drum set and no one can argue with that. The technicality he plays with is something that is indescribable. And he makes it seem so easy, thats the part that I dont understand haha.
Really?? Have you seen Buddy Rich drumming? Nobody compares to that. You think Danny Carry (awesome respect for him btw) is fast and technical (he is)....you haven't seen Buddy Rich. He's a jazz drummer btw if you're not familiar with him. This is a well known vid him doing a drum battle: ua-cam.com/video/VJh9W3Gcpmo/v-deo.html he's past his prime here btw and notice how he holds the sticks. Most drummer today can't drum like that.
@@flybeep1661 though he is a great drummer, a pioneer I might say, I really hate his attitide, seriously hate that man. Every interview I watched he is so full of himself and always gives hate comment to other people he don't like. BTW now there are a lot of drummers who is wayyy better than Buddy Rich - like Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Jojo Mayer, Gavin Harrison, Chris Coleman, Tony Williams, Steve Gadd, Carter Beauford, Mark Guliana, Gary Novak, Gavin Harrison, Joe Morello, Vinnie Colaiuta, Vigil Donati, Marco Minnermann and also Danny Carey. They are all prog, jazz or fusion drummers and they all could seriously give Buddy Rich a run for his money. Buddy is only remembered because, as I have said, he was a pioneer
@@Henrydingus01123 ummm Gavin's more on the free, smooth, inivative type of drummer, being rarely aggressive. And from a lot of interviews I have watched, he like musicality over technicality. BTW both are different types of drummers. If you want that into your face, aggressive, weird polyrhythms sounds with a lot of punch then Danny Carey is the answer. If you like that smooth, relaxing feel with a peace of mind then Gavin is the answer. But both have something very much in common- they both are musical drummers. Danny uses a lot of tom patterns for the musicality while Gavin uses his hi hat, cymbals and snare, as I have listened to his work on Pineapple theaf.
I'm a drummer, 16 years old, wether I'm good or not will be judged hopefully in future years. But Danny Carey, and mainly this solo, taught me alot on first hearing...and will forever been a major influence for me.
every decade or so there comes a drummer that makes you just go "FUCK ME.. WHAT PLANET DID THIS GUY COME FROM?" it's obvious danny care is one of those drummers! love his work and cannot wait to hear the new tool album!
Hello, I’m from the future. You still have to wait years for the new album. Hint, it’s called Fear Inoculum and it’s released during a global pandemic. P.S. stock up on toilet paper, surgical masks and hand sanitizer. You’ll thank me in a few years.
Whats so impressive about this beat (1:45) he's doing swiss.triplets on the toms in 4/4, playing a polyrhythm with his feet while in 3/4, all while playing to the beat of the song.
Between this song and Rosetta stoned u can't get anymore control over what the left side of your brain and the right side of your brain is doing he is playing 4 different time signatures at times this is amazing
Texas Turner that’s my favorite part. Well actually the view from the stage looking out at the crowd. Imagine walking out to that and performing. Must be such a nerve wracking rush to know you’re about to blow all those kinds.
He is doing four different rhythms seperately on his feet and his arms. He has tapped into the spiritual and secret art of drumming. In my opinion he is by far the best drummer anyone has seen in the past 20 years/
This man's technique and level of independence are beyond my understanding! Hands down, my biggest inspiration, he is the force that drives me to keep trying to get better.
He is just the best, not the best drummer, but the best percussionist this earth has seen, and the only thing bigger than his talent is his humbleness and big heart, with all my love and admiration from Mexico to Kansas Mr Carey.
love this guy. He took his amazing intellect of the science of math and fused it with his musical training. If you watch some of his drum playing he simple separates his left and right arm to different time signatures. Kind of crazy that he can't be so disconnected yet right on time every time without messing up. Dude said on 10,000 days he plays and drums in a certain way to conjure up demons. He's into the occult so who knows. Either way, killer drummer.
Danny's mastery over polyrhythms is simply incredible. He blows almost all other drummers out of the water in this respect. You can hear just how many rhythmic patterns he has going on at the beginning of this, one in each hand and I believe he may even have one per leg too (one in the high hat And one in the bass drum). I know professional musicians who would struggle doing 2 effectively at the same time, let alone even 3, but 4. THAT takes some serious skill! Then the addition of extra triplets on the beats as he transitions to that solo fill 🤯
must b a great feeling not only seeing your fans applauding and cheering, but even the security ppl were looking back and applauding and giving them props
Just unreal how incredible he is. It's an incredible inspiration to see what's possible on your instrument. Great job with the video by the way, the camera effects are simple, but fitting. It's so hard for a lot of drummers to do what he does, and to top it off, his high hat (which moves up when his foot goes down) requires any other player to think opposite of him. It's just ridiculous how precise and perfect his playing is. One of the greatest ever.
damn i love triad. great training music and work of art. had a chance to see them when i was like 12 and passed it up. i was just too young to grasp the epicness in them when i was younger. kicking self right now.
Un-Be-Lee-Vable!! I can't get enough of this clip - on so many levels it's just the most amazing & powerful drumming....EVER!!! Love the crowd response...mind-bending applause for TOOL's pure excellence....
Yeah he uses numerical sequences of occult systems to create a portal or something. He actually does it in this video with the first polyrhythm, and he lets the conjured demons play/dictate riffs that sound amazing. He inspires me to no end.
Almost brought a tear to my eye to see Danny get up to the thunderous applause at the end and see the entire band come together and hug. Even the security was clapping. That was something special. Anyone know what year this was?
Yeah it would be good seeing that sort of united feeling back in Tool, but I saw them twice in 2020 and MJK looked to be loving it, great showman too for an introvert that hangs at the back
I'm so happy that there is someone on the internet with the ability to voice their disfavour towards something without using the word 'gay' I salute you and your opinion.
before you start judging the man just keep in mind that this is the last song of the show and the sound and video aren't the same that you have in studio, for this is the only drummer that really plays from is heart and is no showoff
Mine too. I've been trying to nail that polyrhythm for a week now, still can't get the hang of it. I think i might have hit it once or twice, but that's it
@gibraltar99 With how much he plays these songs, one could say he is programmed, or at least they are programmed in his "brain", this guy is so clean, and accurate it's almost scary!
@GooGuGajoob Im a bass player of 6yrs and Danny Carey has influenced my bass style just as much as any top bassist such as Flea and Les Claypool. The man's musical talent in Hard Rock is limitless and I've learned alot from him :)
10,000 years from now, an alien civilization, exploring this "new" planet they've discovered, will find an old computer buried beneath the ruins of what used to be Los Angeles, see this video, and proclaim Danny Carey their new God.
We have telescopes that can see planets light years away but we still dont have a camera good enough to capture Danny Carey's drumming
Another point for flat earthers!
I am totally a flat earther brother.
watch you don't smash into the great ice wall bahahahaha

This
I will never listen to Triad the same...you can't unhear this
He's got the biggest fucking smile at the end. Something about seeing musicians genuinely love what they do is special
this band is just perfect... thats all there is to say. they are a just a perfect combination of awesome musicians.
Danny uses complex math equations to play, I'm just waiting for a portal to just summon out of all that
You're observing what came out
Who needs drugs when you can listen to Tool. They help we get through some rough days and moments. Literally changed my life. Everything seems to make sense when I listen to them.
Danny Carey is a fucking madman and his bandmates are all heroes for being able to keep up with him.
3:43 never fails to blow me away. This man is my idol.

The man is not a man. He's a God 🙏🙏🙏
I could barely notice him breaking his stick at 5:16, amazing

probably because this was in -144p
Holy shit, he did. Doesn’t help with the stupid negative effect.
Seamless. Perfection.
Oh sweet baby jesus danny is a god
he is the god from god...

I've come back to watch this video probably 50 times over the last decade or so.
who needs weed when you do something you love in front of thousands of screaming fans who appreciate every second of it
This will b giving drummers hell for decades trying to learn
Guitar+bass+drum=triad...just realized that lol
also it’s in 3/4 i think
I love how he also keeps the rhythm steady yet lets it flow in different directions along with the music.

The greatest band on the whole world. Period.
Some say he summons demons with his technique and skils of playing .
+Chris Maniotas yeah thats basicly what happens at 4:43
The Portal opens, the colours go all crazy and the demons enter the tool stage
THE MUTHA FUCKING MAN!!!!#MR.CAREY
Well, he did but the demons were like, fuck, we should’ve summoned him instead.
