That's the main thing stopping me from getting the MK7, I love the exterior, but hate the interior! I've just recently bought a MK8 fiesta for the missus and after driving that and seeing the interior, I think I'm going to get the MK8 ST, aslong as it's okay to drive!
MK7 for me any day of the week. I drove a Stage 1 Mk8 the other week and compared it to my stage 2 Mk7 same as this. Mk8 feels big inside as there is so much space, doesn’t feel like your being hugged in your seat like the mk7 and because the mk8 plants itself to the ground so well, it gets boring after a while as it’s not fun in the same sense as the mk7. Also to point out, the Mk8 has the diff with the performance pack from ford, whereas the mk7 doesn’t have the diff, if you have the mk7 with a diff (like I have) its a different story. Mk7 for me is an all round brilliant, challenging and amazing hot hatch. After installing the diff in mine, going round B roads has made it so much more fun, more of a drivers car for me, looks better than the Mk8 for me, more aggressive looking, sounds better from the 4 cylinder and yeah mk7 wins it for me.
Great video mate, i love my mk7 ST with the MP215 but i will probably upgrade to the mk8 ST in the next year or 2 as it seems like its just improved in almost all areas, especially the exhaust note it sounds great.
I'm in a dilemma, I prefer the looks of the MK7 but performance is better on the MK8 and then you have to worry about the MK7 getting older, they proper messed the rear up on the new one, it would of helped me consider the new one more
m ws i understand what you mean mate but you can get a 2017 Mk7 ST with less than 10,000miles for around £12000 now which is a great price for the car you would get. My mk7 is 2017 and just hit 20,000 miles and not a thing has ever went wrong with it even with the mp215 on it for 18 months now. Either choice would be a great decision as both cars are brilliant to drive.

It may look a bit odd at the back the mk8 and alot of people says it's bad looking, but i personally really like it. The sound is lovely, the interior is better and the quaife is a no brainer. The mk7 is still lovely, but the mk8 will probably be my next car
Had a ST200 for 2 and a half years, just brought myself a mk8 st3 and it’s another level. Can’t wait to modify the mk8, the capabilities of it are incredible. And yes to start with I HATED the mk8, but it’s grown
@@willrose6862for big power no... but up to stage 2 it's better than the mk7, my mk8 made 260bhp on stage 1+ by peron and my previous st200 stage 2 made 245ish bhp... if i ever went back to a fiesta st i would probably go back to a mk8 than a mk7... they are both such good cars but people overlook the mk8 without driving it... but 100% a decent tuned stage 1 mk8 will definitely make more power than the mk7 stage 2
@@StefanP742 they make more power stage for stage 1vs1… but the mk8 power really drops after stage 1, stage 2 only makes 266/275… as a mk7 will do 275 and much lighter so it will be faster overall, 1.5 3 cylinder was a massive L

The mk7 is an angry beast and it loves to be in the ring fighting.. it's "always on"... full send or NOTHING.. the Mk7, is very brutal but I love It that way... Very angry car..but it's fkn awesome!! Especially when you take a sharp corner too fast.. the car laugh's at you..
Mk7 advantages: - exterior looks mint. - very big after market community. - very reliable car can take them up to 400 bhp with 2.5k of mods. Mk7 Disadvantages: - very popular car and alot are the same (owners CAN be sheeps 🐑) (don't baaaaaaah at me in the comments) -interior/tech is outdated Mk8 advantages: - interior/tech is modern. - stands out on the road. - aftermarket community arising fast. Mk8 disadvantages: - looks are marmite. - sounds shit compared to mk7. - at £22,000 could buy a 1/2 year old Audi s3 for the same money. Over all the mk7 is better value for money if you can put up with older tech.
The mk8 has a slightly smaller engine, but due to it dropping one cylinder, each cylinder is a larger capacity to the mk7.5. which is most likely why it has alot more torque and a good amount of power. I'd like the mk8 st, but if only it looked like the mk7.5

Had the 7 & now got the 8. Even though the 8 has the lsd I thought the handling of the 7 was 10/15% better but the ride on the 7 felt like they never removed the chocks from the suspension from delivery. Mk8 more comfortable. Speed very similar 👍
Thanks Mark, Could you possibly expand on that? I'm having an impossible dilemma picking between them. I keep going from one to the other then back again.. and again! I've drove a friends Mk7 ST and totally fell in love with its character and handling... lift off oversteer just like my old Pug GTI's that made me love them so much... but the Mk8 looks to be a lot more sensible, grown up, (I'm 45) , comfortable modern looking car with a cockpit that's a more spacious and nicer place to be... but would it disappoint me with its more planted rear end if I wanted to have some lift off oversteer fun? Doubt I'd be able to find that out on a test drive with a salesman sitting next to me. :/ Such a difficult decision, please help me decide.. TIA.
@@paulhope3401 if all you want is a weekend toy & absolute drivers car go for a mk7. If you’re gonna use it every day go for a mk8. The mk7 definitely gives you more confidence with the lift off oversteer. But ride is so hard. He Bridgestone potenzas worked really well on the car too. Mk8 is better inside not quite as harder ride & the infotainment is way better. If you use the sport mode the throttle is way more responsive, exhaust pops a bit & disables the traction control partially but to get the lift off oversteer best to turn it all off but practice on a big quiet roundabout. Thing is the mk7 has got more affordable for the youngsters now & lots look way to boyed up now. Mine is magnetic so looks a bit more understated. Newer is better I always think . 👍

It is going to be mostly a weekend toy, so mk7 it is... maybe an ST200 if I can find a good one close to me. Had both at the 250bhp power and for me the mk8 is the better car it improves on all the faults the mk7 had. Seats are much comfier for long journeys although my mk7 was better built my mk8 has so many rattles after 16months ownership. Also the mk8 doesn't have adaptive dampers

@@jwalker7567 For what it is, and when you consider its a Feista, its honestly excellent. The sub bass is lacking but you get a really nice punch to your music which makes for it. Absolutely zero distortion.
Have them both peron stage 2 pro mk7.5 and stock mk8 and must say as an every day car the mk8 is far better for me 5 doors, bigger screen, b&o audio, lane assist,... The only thing I miss is the power of the mk7 but not for long :-p
I had a mk7 and I loved it but I changed it in February to a Mercedes c180 coupe amg .. but I seriously miss my ST . I'm thinking of getting a mk8 next year but will I regret getting the mk8 over the 7 ?
I had a mk7 for 3.5 years and I’ve now had the mk8 for 7 months. I took my mk7 stage 2 and even so I still think the mk8 is better in every way. Just feels so much more fun to drive. Looks wise it’s all personal preference. I love the mk8 but I also love the mk7, but overall I prefer the mk8 because the interior is nicer and more premium. Comparing ST3s anyway, I don’t think much of the seats in the mk8 st and ST2, the ST3 has much nicer seats.
No way I will take home MK7. Yes it looks amaizing, but only because it is not the standard version. Imagine buy some body kit for MK8. I ordered MK8 and I must still wait 3 month, but it's worth it :) Will be great daily agressive car :)
I’m biased but until that mk8 is seeing figures of 330+ if it ever does or if it’s even reliable at that power the mk8 is a no from me, wouldn’t swap my hybrid turbo mk7 for one let’s put it that way
Everyone said the exact same thing coming from m6 to mark7 it’s ugly.them7 grew over time I could never go back to a m7 after having the 8 for to months it’s night and day massive difference

i've had enough of 3 cylinders engines they drive like shit compared to 4 cylinders. imo

@@StefanP742 i don’t personally agree…. 300bhp is stage 3, some tuners do get the mk7 to 265/270… but even a stage 2 fez mk7 would beat a stage 2 mk8

I want the MK8 Exhaust system the way it pops when you let go of the accelerator makes me smile everytime, however i hate the look of the MK8.

i had custom eyelids put on my MK8 and as for seats the half leathers are so much more comfortable than the cloth

Tho is it when I have revo stage 1 with an exhaust and intercooler pulling 265bhp on the dyno is it, power to weight ratio ya nonce and obviously it's a focus ST which is designed to be quicker than the fiesta ST, I'd rather have my fiesta than settle for the poor mans RS
@@largeChongus97 my last car was a mk7 fiesta st. needed something bigger so went with the new focus st. performance potential, believe me the focus is light years ahead!!
