This video helped me do this over this weekend. I thank you for posting. If anyone is interested in replacing the washer for the transmission bolt (the 22mm bolt that makes contact with the bottom of the ATF pan), the Ford part # is: 4W4Z-6734-AA (Ford calls it "gasket", but in reality is a small rubber washer). Hope this helps someone.
If anyone needs the torque specs: 89 INCH lbs on the 2 long bolts for the filter, 8 ft lbs on the pan bolts and 19 ft lbs on the transmission drain bolt. Do not over tighten.
the reason why you only needed 5 qts of ATF was because you only took out the fluid on the trans pan, the torque converter holds the rest so you basically mixed new and old fluid together
Thats usually a good thing, that is the reason flushes are bad. If your trans hasnt been totally kept up with, the grit and stuff in that old fluid helps keep it from slipping
You did a really good job, the only thing though is you really don't want to reuse gaskets. You already had the new one, and the pan was already off! Haha, but great job man, I'm gunna be doing this as well here soon.
Hi friend I'm topping off my transmission fluid, but when I remove the pump, the liquid does not stop flowing out on its own. Do I need to add more fluid? Does the car have to be on for it to stop flowing?

A flush only damages your transmission when your transmission is already damaged.... If you flush it at the proper mileage every time just like an oil change it will be just fine...
He originally said that flushing your transmission can damage it that's not true, it's actually a transmission fluid exchange done through the cooler lines it's no different than as you're driving the car there's fluid constantly going through the cooler lines and returning to the transmission. The reason this urban legend persists is the fact that many people whose transmission is starting to fail and the driver has noticed symptoms take the car in for a transmission flush and after the flush the problems that existed previously are still there and they eventually show up as a transmission that needs to be overhauled but of course they blame it on the flush which is nonsense.
You said to fill the transmission with 4.5 quarts that was taken out, but you only showed a total of 2 quarts being in the drain pan? Also can you explain the method of starting the car and adding fluid? Do you leave the car running after you first start it and run it through the gears then add more fluid while it is still running and then run it through the gears again?
@@frankgarcia6760 This is all bullshit. I am going to buy an aftermarket transmission pan with dip stick. I will be able to check it anytime I want. You're suppose to change it every 80k-100k. Plus when it's in reverse then switching gears into drive the car will slightly jerk forward. Changing the fluid fixed that problem. I ended up changing the fluid 2 times waiting 3 months in between. This way most of the old fluid would be replaced.
Seems like a crappy way to add fluid. I'm old school what happened to the dip stick and filler tube under the hood. Fords plan for you to bring it back to their garages.
I guess they sealed the transmission to prevent water entry from the dipstick. I'm not sure if i agree with doing this, but I guess al I can do is trust the engineers.
Frank Garcia that’s why cars with dipsticks have a mark on the stick to indicate where it should be when hot and why you must check the transmission fluid when the vehicle is running and warmed up. A dipstick is way better. At least you can check it and add fluid on the side of the road. With this set-up, you’re calling a tow truck if the fluid leaks out. You can actually buy an aftermarket pan with the dipstick included for these cars so you have an easy way to check the fluid and add it if needed.
Not always true. I did a flush through toyota on 16 camry with 30k on a car I bought brand new. Had intermittent shifting problems with ith for about 6-8 months after flush. Took it in twice but they said fluid level was good and they could not replicate problem. Over time it got better. A flush pushes fluid through trans getting all old out and new in but it also stirs up particles potentially causing shifting issues. All I know for sure is every time I have a dealer do a flush (3 times 3 diff cars) it causes issues. If I do a drain and fill as long as I do my reseach to make sure fluid compatibility is good then no issues. Doing the drain and fill is more time consuming and you may have to do it many times to get all the fluid changed but it is by far the safer bet.
