Wow... you just saved me a ton of money. These jerks told me my windshield needed to be reinstalled (supposedly, that is why my cabin filled with water after a rainstorm). I simply followed your tip on cleaning the drain and problem solved! Thanks. 2005 GT. Love these ponys.
@@green3488same here, I own a 2008 GT premium. A lot of cars nowadays have this feature but its funny to me these mustangs had it so long ago. Its extremely rare but theres some cars that also have it for the cup holder area from factory, I sat in a 2009 grabber orange 45th anniversary mustang GT and it had that as well as a shaker 1000 (factory trunk subs!)
Thank you so much for these tips. I had no idea my 2006 V6 Mustang had two drain plugs. I'm the only owner and have never cleaned them since I bought it brand new. Thank you so much. Keep these tips coming. Love them. You got a new subscriber. 😊
Yeah, i had no idea about those drain plugs for the cabin air filter. had a change my cabin air filter a few times, and lots of leaking inside. Glad it is now cleaned. The window trick was also amazing.
Not sure if you monitor these anymore, but just bought a 2007 mustang V6, knew nothing about it, or mustangs in general, and have watched and liked several of your videos so far that have proven very helpful to me starting with the one about emptying out and cleaning out the drains on the firewall. Also, would never have found the cabin air filter, without your video. Thank you so much for taking the time and putting the stuff out there, even though things seem so simple to those that do it every day, to those that are new to it, videos like this, make it a much better experience! Even on how to change the wiper blades while it seems of menial task, I’m sure you saved me several four letter words, trying to figure out how to do that! again thank you for the effort!
I too have a Pony Packaged 06 , too many tips and tricks the manual does not tell you like adjusting the factory alarm system ??? Another one is the Shaker 500 or 1000 system hacks . Never new for 14 years you can set it to read out the music and stations you are listening too in digital read out . It was off since it left the factory 😳 !! Thank You for sharing!
You can adjust the various colours too. There are 125 different colour combinations. You just play around with the red (R), green (G) and blue (B) settings for each main colour.
I got an 05 and another thing about the color changing option, on some models you can change the intensity of red, green and blue so you can have different unique colors that you create yourself, within those three colors that is
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! You don’t know just how much headache and dealership dollars you just saved me with that darned clogged drain plug or whatever that is! My front passenger’s always been flooded every time I wash my car and it’s been a pain to clean up. You sir are doing God’s work, bless you 🙏🏼
Unclogging those drains is very important as I found out in my '06 years ago after a torrential rain storm filled up the wireways to my Smart Junction Box. It required replacement. I figured out the display color changes soon after I bought the car in '06 and somehow reset the window some years later after it stopped working correctly. I don't think I used your reset trick but either unhooked the battery or some other method, I don't remember. Your video gave me some great info on the seats. For years I thought that the back seats looked like they should fold down. I had a 1966 GT fastback many years ago and the fold down back seat bench was really great, so every few years I've explored ways to lower my '06 rear seats without figuring it out. Now as soon as I finish typing this, I'm going out there and lowering them down.
Something just occurred to me as I typed the above comment and I would like to share it. Right after I bought my new '06, I met some guys at a Denny's for breakfast. We were on the way to a meeting of some kind. I had pulled my keys from the ignition and laid them on the console while I gathered some stuff to take inside. Then I got out and locked the door, went inside and then realized the keys were still in the Mustang. One of the guys I was meeting said he heard of someone using a remote clicker through a cell phone and opening a door. A Chevy guy said that was impossible, they don't work by sound. I thought I'd try it anyway and called my wife, about 10 miles away and asked her to click the spare clicker into the phone. She did it and the door immediately unlocked and I got my keys.
Man I’ve had a bucket in my car to catch the water for 2 years now and you just showed me that it’s just a dumb little plug that I coulda cleaned out years ago. I hate myself
I just got a 2005 Ford Mustang and will hopefully pick it up tomorrow! I had no idea those little rubber pieces came out so easily, so I'll have to check them to make sure they're clear of any debris. I also can't wait to figure out if I can change the dash color in my model as well. Love the video!!
Cleaning the drains on the cowl is important. The water runs down the passenger kick panel area where the Smart Junction Box is located. It will corrode after time & cause electrical headaches.
very cool! I have a 2008 bullitt to race specs 850 at rear wheels and didnt know that about changing the color on dash.... I knew how to change the color on the floor area but not dash!!!! SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

You’re literally describing so many of the things have had to figure out on my own the hard way!! Like my car flooding. Haha. Your window trick saved me today! Can you give me any advice on why my battery might keep dying? Hoping the window reset might be a part of it. But heard a loud electrical sound in the trunk prior to it dying. My tail lights have always gone out and my trunk button on my clicker doesn’t work any more. Wondering if any/all of it could be related. Also read it could be my shaker 500 cd draining the battery.
I just purchased a 2008 Shelby and my battery kept dying I also took it to the shop and found it was a relay stuck in the open position the relay was for the AC compressor hopefully this will help you
Interesting. I have the same problems. Like my cabin filling with water. Problem solved. Unfortunately, my battery keeps draining as well. I removed the radio fuse, and this seems to have temporarily fixed the issue.
Those drain plugs got clogged on my 06 gt had the passenger side fill with an inch front to back, unclogged it then drivers side started filling up, this time it was the filter cabin. The whole filter was water logged, leaves and dirt clogging it. Got filter changed got a gallon of water out of there now it's dry as a bone. I also had to cut out almost the whole carpet to get all of the insulation underneath. All the insulation was water logged also
When I took those drain plugs out I’m not even kidding it seemed like half a gallon of water came out of each side. Probably an exaggeration but they were super clogged and a lot of water was built up
I have a 2006 mustang V6 I never knew about that stuff on your video, also my car runs fine but the idle will run a little low below the 1 mark when I put it in park what can I do to fix that?
It is a common problem with the factory radio. We usually buy a used (tested) one and replace the radio. We like to keep our Mustang stock. Although there are some nice aftermarket radios that have Bluetooth features as well.
We just bought an '05 GT Premium with the Shaker 1000 for our daughter. The CD player is stuck on ERROR code and says it's loaded up with 6 CDs but won't eject anything. We are thinking about getting an aftermarket with Bluetooth feature but want to keep the rest of the Shaker 1000 setup. Might you have any suggestions for head units that would fit the bill? The car we got is in overall fantastic condition, considering its age. It does have some minor issues, almost all cosmetic that we are already addressing. I just replaced the original red door panels that were lifting around the edges and had previously been glued back on a few different times through the years with not much success. This is the first Ford we've ever owned. We've had Chevrolets, GMCs, Hondas, Dodges and as of last year our first Toyota. I'm very impressed with this pony! The original (and only other) owner must have garaged it because the paint is in exceptionally good condition save for a small area at the very front of the hood where the V point apexes in the center, right at the edge it has started to "bubble" a little. It has a few minor dings and scratches but for an 18 year old car looks and drives so nicely. It came with just over 96K miles on it but drives great. My husband is a lifelong grease monkey who does almost all of the maintenance on our vehicles. He, and our daughter, did all kinds of work on it as soon as we got it home. Fluids, shocks, new battery, and battery tray, one of the belts, replaced the coolant reservoir, took it to a transmission shop to fix a pinion leak, got new wheels and tires that are on the some of the more current models of the Mustang GT and did some other things I can't remember. My husband is all about stock OEM parts unless there is no choice. So this car is all serviced for 100K miles and anything worn out or "aged out" has been replaced preemptively in the hope and expectation that it will give our daughter many years of dependable and enjoyable service. She's been riding dirt bikes since she was 4 or 5 years old so she's familiar with working a clutch but mastering getting out of 1st gear (smoothly) in this car has been her biggest challenge. Shifting into higher gears isn't any hardship at this point. We are loving this car. Thank you so much for the informative tips in this video!!! @@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC
Thanks about that window tip, ima try it out later , my driver window never goes back up , I always that it was a sensor problem , so I’ll check it out Edit: also my screen says that the driver door is open so I dunno if that has something to the with the window staying down
Idk if you’ll read this but try lowering the window while disconnecting the battery. Then try the reset and is should work. And the only way your getting the open door thing is if your sensor is bad or your driver door isn’t locking. Hope this helps🙏🏽
Those drains need to be checked often, my floor boards were always getting soaked because of them getting clogged, after replacing the carpet, never again! Now do why the Shaker 500 constantly drains the battery.
The CD changer will drain your battery. In the process currently of installing a touchscreen to get the old system with the cd changer out. An alternative solution is to turn off your stereo system everytime you turn your mustang off. That worked for me for about 4 months.
So I'm sitting here enjoying your video and i notice something on your car that makes me think of my own. The adhesive that is supposed to bond the material to the door panel fails, even on low mileage garage kept cars. Any tips/tricks on fixing the POS door panels on these 05-09 Mustangs? Take care..
@@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC thanks, I'll give it a try. Awhile back, I tried using 3M spray. As you may know it works very well on sagging headliners and it lasts, surprisingly it had an opposite effect on my door panels. I was gonna try the green interior glue that most if not a upholstery shops use, I'll try a small area with the hot glue gun first. I'll let you know how I make out, thanks again.
hey so i’m having the problem where the water gets clogged up and enters through the passenger side, so all you do is remove the drain plugs and that’s it? no need to clean them and put back?
You should be able to unlock the car door with the key fob by pressing it twice. On some of the base & deluxe versions of the Mustang, you have to press it twice to open the driver door and then another two times to open the passenger door.
The bottom of the back seat on a convertible is removable. The tops are bolted onto the car. You can remove them with tools. They do not fold down like the coup models.
Anyone can change the colors if you have the three extra control buttons on the dash. See the video for what I am referring. Also, the car in the video is not a GT.
@@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC do you know what would cause the air conditioner to only blow from the defrost it blows from the vents but barely it only blows from the defroster no matter what setting you put it on feet face both only from the defrost
My cabin lights stay on when I leave the car what can you tell me to turn them off. I was outside with the car for like 10 minutes and by some miracle I got them to turn off for the night

@@jenniferthomas905 The actuator behind the dash is the culprit.
