Me too, the ratio on the S3 is great for note taking and drawing and fine to me for movies, On Most Video streaming apps, you can zoom the screen in so you don't have the bars.

You're bloody right!!!! I use my S3 for drawing, and I would never buy a 16:9 screen for that job. And when I am watching a movie, using the MX Player, I simply zoom it up a little, to make the image fill the screen (I know, I know: I will miss a good amount of movie pixels at the sides... But really, depending on the movie, it really doesn't matter at all). So, I strongly recommend buying the S3, whatever the case. One thing to consider (and I believe sakitech guy missed it) is the battery. OK, the S3 has a greater battery, but I believe the battery life would be the same on both devices, because more screen equals more juice draining.

My Tab S1 died after 4 years. 😖😖😟😟 I loved the 16:9 screen ratio. Great for watching movies. I'm happy that S4 is 16:10 ratio. Will buy it when prices drop.

Normunds X it's hard for me to give a comparison since I was having charing issues with my previous tablet I will say I do see my tablet drop down into the 30% range frequently but I'm not sure if that O bad battery life or because a lot of times I leave my tablet in a manga reader app that keeps the tablet from sleeping

Being that the tab s4 is 497 now and the s3 is still 450 should i get the tab s4? I like the dimensions of the tab s3 better and the physical button but i dont want to skimp out for 40 dollars if its that less of a product. Even so i like the overall dimensions and thinkness and bigger bezels of the tab s3 and are not worried about it only being 40$ less. Thanks for your time

my experience with the s3 pretty good, i use it to take engineering notes. The only problem i have with it is that the mag folio case does interfere with the writing slightly, towards the bottom left. mag folio case is a good case for watching videos. I bought a skin for the back panel today so i can pull it out of the case when i take notes.
Thanks for this, well organized. Here in Q1 2019, with prices dropping on the S4 w/keyboard, I am carefully considering trading out my S3 w/keyboard. The latter has been an entirely satisfactory product, btw. I'm undecided, but your comparison will make it a rational and well-considered decision for-sure. I usually rotate tablets every three years, and may wait for the S5 as yet another option!

Need advice please. I just picked up a brand new galaxy tab s3 for 299.00 brand new. I am looking for the same light build as the s3. I was thinking of returning it for either a tab s5e for 409.00 or tab s6 for 549.00. Maybe tabs4. I keep my tablets for at least 3 years. I am worried that the tab s3 will not get updates by next year because it's from 2017 and is not as future proof as others. Need advice please? Also would the tab s5e be a downgrade from the tabs3? Watching this on the Galaxy Tab S1. It is still doing great. But I will upgrade to the S4 if the price gets more realistic. Skipped the S2 and the S3 because of the 4:3 Display Ratio.
Agreed. Specially the display is still top-notch and better than most current tablets with LCD-Screens. But after 4 years the battery is slowly dying and I wish it had more performance.
My Tab S1 is starting to die out, hoping I can find an lte unlocked model of this in grey, 256gb. The 16gb on the S1 is almost full, plus apps stop responding.
My S1 is dead after too many bashings on the screen when frustrated in clash of clans. In the end, it almost looked like a boomerang in profile. It was me trying to straighten it back out that finally killed it 😭 Bought the S2 yesterday as a replacement. 226 bucks.

which tablet has the brightess screen? i recently went to bestbuy and compared the two and to my eye the S3 was much brighter. what is your opinion? i would have bought the S4 because of Dex but the screen brightness level did not impress me. The S3 seemed brighter.
I have an Ipad Pro 10.5 and I’m not happy because the LCD retina display gives my headaches after some time of using it but I also have an Iphone X and I’m not having any problems with it, maybe because the Iphone X comes with amoled screen. So I really need to switch back to Samsung, I used to have a Tab s2 8 inch without issues. The other thing that is uncomfortable with the iPad is the weight so do you think that the S4 weight might be a problem compared with the S3? THANKS ON ADVANCE FOR THE INPUT.
I have the Samsung case with keyboard. It ain't great. Not really worth the cost. It doesn't need to be charged, as it gets power from the tablet, but it's very cramped and the keys are light and plasticky. Might as well get the same in a much cheaper bluetooth keyboard.
The only reason to upgrade from my Tab S3 would be battery life. I'm very disappointed in it. I got the tablet in June and it already came with Oreo pre-installed. I only get around 5 hours of SOT. Is this normal or not?
So on the tab S4 it says that you can use HDMI to hook it to a television or a monitor. My question is will it also work on a computer projector for giving presentations? There's no easy way to do that with the tab S3. Thank you

I own the S3 and the paltry internal storage as well as the very poor battery life and occasional lag makes it not worth it. I'll be upgrading to the tab S4.
the poor battery life is mostly due to samsung experience and bloatware apps. you can disable most of it and use Adguard to filter ads. I get 6-9 hours on it and I own it for about a year now.
I've used the iPad Pro, S2, S3 and other tablets in our drone club. Best overall image (video transmission from the aircraft) was on the S3, So I imagine the same for the S4 which is said to be around 800 nits brightness. S3 was 730 nits, and Ipad Pro around 580-600 nits. With a faster processor, it may also handle the app better. Even on the iPad Pro, there is some lag/jitter when yawing and pitching the craft that you can see in the display. I think the product and app is about as good as it can get there. On a flying device that transmits video to an RC and then from the RC to a tablet or phone, there will be latency. The bigger deal is loss of signal. Both devices were ok with that. In sunlight, the iPad Pro is not near as bright as the S3 Tab. I tested them side by side with several people. Luckily DJI fixed the lag issues in Go4 app as of late. Autel Evo video feed is perfect on S3, and very smooth. There is a beta app for that product in iOS, but nothing official just yet. Still, the brightness of the OLED screen just makes the S3 and S4 a tad better for that usage. Android Pie is supposed to streamline video handling, so we'll see if it's any better. Some are finding S4 discounts as low as $560, so all in all that's a hell of a difference between a Ipad Pro and pen which costs $750+
Don't count on Android pie update on Samsung tablet, it may never come.... Performance wise my ipad pro 10.5 beats my tab s3 hands down, I was really disappointed by the tab s3, the screen does look nice tho. The 16:10 screen, design and updated processor does make the s4 quite attractive, but since the new roumured iPad pro is coming up, I will hold off and see what it has to offer. For now I got the huawei mediapad m5 pro to serve my android needs, it's probably not as good as the s4, but it gives 85% of the s4 for USD250 less.
Actually all notes have poor battery life. The reason why is because the spen technology is battery-less because the screen emits energy for the pen to work on .
I'm having a problem deciding if I need to upgrade from my current Samsung Note Pro 12.2 to the new Tab S4... I'm loving mine so far, and I love the fact it has a big screen almost like a laptop especially with the original samsung keyboard I invested in for the pro 12.2, but it's feeling slower over time.. Not sure should I go for the upgrade? Can you help me on that?
Went to my local Best Buy and tested out the Dolby Atmos videos that was built in with the S4 and the speakers at full volume cracked and sounded very abrasive. Played all the demo videos and only one (forest scene?) sounded decent. Went to the Chrome browser and visited a few sites (Amazon, NYTimes, etc.) and did pinch to zoom on the main pages and it was laggy and slow and just not a very pleasant experience. I have the old Galaxy Tab S2 running on Android 7.0 and it's much smoother... Anyone else experiencing this? I want to upgrade but the demo model didn't impress me except the better display.
I do own a Note 8 and everytime I use my Tab S3, I mistake my Tab S3 for the Note 8 and try to swipe underneath to get the navigation bar. I finally realize that the navigation bar are the buttons.
It's all about the software. The screen on the Tab S4 is way better but the Surface has much better software for productivity. Android versions of Office don't quite cut it.
I currently use (try to use) my S2 for fieldwork outside and need a tablet with a better sunlight readable display. My research shows the iPad pro 10.5 to be the best available. I am interested to know how the S4 compares. Any advice?
I got the Tab S and I'm planning to get the Tab S2 later this year, so I'll be saving up for that. I watched your comparison video of those two. One thing I didn't like about the Tab S3 was it was glass on the back. Also the Tab S3 and the Tab S4 are super-expensive! I think the Tab S2 will be just fine for a while.
Surprised you missed the difference in screen shape meaning the S3 has a wider screen (better for portrait handwriting), and the S4 no longer has the annoying capacitive buttons, using soft on-screen buttons instead, this last one in particular makes a big difference when you are writing on the tablet as it helps prevent the capacitive buttons being activated by your skin when you're using the tablet to write on.
Great review, i'd like to point out some things in addition to what you said. If you are running tab s3 like i do, check out Sentio Desktop app which is almost an exact replacement for Samsung Dex with the ability to set custom DPI settings, it does require some effort to get it working but once you do that, it is on par imo with the DeX. One more thing, the aspect ratio of the new tab s4 is way better for movies and media consumption in general but the tab s3 is actually more comfortable for reading pdfs and using it in portrait mode. i prefer the 4:3 over 16:9 or 16:10 because i do read a lot on it.
i prefer 4:3 aspect ratio tbh, better for web browsing and note taking, if you really want to watch videos without black bars, connect it to a 16:9 TV, better viewing experience too.

Main reasons to buy or upgrade The tab S4 depending on territory will come with 256 rather than 64 of internal memory this is a major advantage as the external micro sd card cannot support all applications very few actually from the google play store its designed primarily only for video music and photos . Dex ,battery life and latest version of Android are also major reasons to go with the S4 if you go for the LTE ie 4G version you have yourself a fully functioning 10.5 inch phone cheaper than an S9

I can't believe I wasn't subbed to you yet. Watching this review on my barely 1 year old Tab S3. I must say that I'm a little bit sad. While I am satisfied for the most part with my Tab S3, I'm a little bit mad at Samsung for releasing the Tab S4 now instead of last year. At the time, I had a secondhand LTE Note 10.1 2014 Edition and was seriously considering upgrading to an iPad Pro 10.5 and chose this instead because: 1) I was more familiar with recent Samsung offerings (Note 4, Note 10.1 and Galaxy S8+) so navigation wouldn't be a problem. I had tinkered with newer iPhones and a buddy's iPad Pro 12.9 but the last Apple product I personally owned was an iPhone 3GS!! 2) The value proposition. As an amateur artist, I wanted to get back into drawing and even though the base price of both tablets were the same, the Tab S3 provided the S-Pen free of charge and didn't need to be charged in a ridiculous manner. This was a dealbreaker for me at the time. Now this new version comes out with the screen and internal storage sizes I want. This is FRUSTRATING because I waited so long and patiently made a choice with careful considerations... Question: How is the S4's wifi radio? The one thing I don't like is my tab S3 keeps losing the wifi connection. I thought I fixed the issue about 8 months ago. Now it's back to draining the battery with constant searching and reconnecting whenever it decides to se my wifi. My Note 10.1 2014 Ed. never had this problem! If this issue is fixed then I will definitely consider upgrading on that alone.
I am a Owner of Galaxy Tab S3 and let me and let me share some experience. first of all the back button in the Tab S3 is placed in very awkward position. when I try to write something, sometimes accidentally i put my hand on the back button causing software to close. for this reason I have to invert the display upside down and write my things. secondly which I need to consider is the battery backup. if you view a large PDF file and annote, the battery will last not more than 6 hours. from this perspective I think that the iPad Pro is far more superior than Galaxy Tab S3 for its Palm rejection capability, sensitiveness and responsiveness and after all great battery life and superior softwares.
This is the video I have been wanting to see. As a person looking to upgradey 2014 note tablet, the S3 is the smart option unless I can get the S4 in the $450 or less range. I have the Note 8 (tablet), just had a new battery put in it so now I find I have less of an excuse to get a new tablet! You can do multi screen with it, why is Dex treated as new? Format sexier for sure, but not new.
I have S3, S4 and S8 ULTRA. I really love the big jumps. S3 to S4 was a great jump. Other than larger screen, thicker, much durable, faster and sounds better only that it is much heavier. Pen was larger but feels more like a normal pen. S3 pen is like my S22 Ultra phone pen. S8U is faster and heavier. Keyboard cover not as good as S4's but looks nicer and stream line and flat. So if you want Speed and Dex(Desktop) is S8Ultra. For Balanced speed, Dex(Desktop) and mobility S4. Mobility and lightweight is S3. Cheers. Next part is optional. Read on to see why I don't like the S8 Ultra keyboard cover but love the S4's. I just bought the whole S8 ultra set. Glad the keyboard is free... Omg the tablet and back cover is so heavy. Heavier than the keyboard base. :( Makes me worry if its gonna fall on my desk. Imagine dropping it on the floor. Might need to get a cheap "extension" to prop it up to prevent it from slamming backwards. My recommendation is to just use it as a tablet propper without its keys. {Not like how he set up in video above) Just fold the keys backwards so that the keys face down (touch the desk) then u can rest the propped tablet on it without detaching the keyboard from the cover but this might damage the keys, so put a soft laptop case under the keys. At least it will be stable for tablet and pen use witthout the keys.
They should had designed it like S4 tablet where there is sufficient stability for use with keyboard even if its on your lap. Cheers.
Hola yo tengo la tab s2, s3, s6, y esperando la tab s9 Creo que de la tab s2 a la tab s3 si hay un gran cambio claro que yo tengo la mejor versión que es la de bestbuy la cual tiene 128 GB porque escuche que la tab s3 era algo lenta y esto era debido a que esta tablet su memoria era eMMc 5.0 en cambio la versión de 128 GB le use pruebas y es ufs 2.1 lo cual lo hace muy rápido en general, fuera de eso tambiem fue la primera con usb tipo c la primera con 4 altavoces, la pantalla respecto a la tab s2 mejoró porque aparte de tener más brillo tiene HDR 10, primera con soporte de Spen, ha tbm es la primera tab en ser 64 bits porque la tab s2 es de 32 bits no deja bajar todos los juegos o apps y súmale que al ser dos años mayor tiene oneui android 9 la s2 se quedo en android 7, ahora el salto a la s4 fue solo de diseño y dex y obviamente mejora altavoces y procesador, ahora la tab s6 me parece el antes y después porque esta fue la primera tablet en que lleva el procesador gama alta de ese año se refino bastante es la última tablet en tener pantalla súper amoled claro en 10.5 a 11 pulgadas porque la tab s7 y tab s8 tenían pantalla ips trajo lector de huellas en pantalla, y los altavoces ufs parecen una cajita de sonido, y esta tablet fue la primera en tener el soporte 3 años esta tablet tiene android 12 y en fin fue muy buen equipo hasta el spen tenia para hacer gestos como los note y ya a partir de ese hasta la actualidad son igual creo todas de diseño metálico ahora la tab s9 la de 11 la estoy adquiriendo por el tema que la pantalla en todas las versiones serán la misma y que para mi dan muy buenas memorias y el procesador creo que es el mejor que un dispositivo tenga, potente y no calienta encima es la versión mejorada.
I am finally getting an upgrade from a Nexus 10 to the tab S4. It's a carrier version at 700 with zero interest which is a major reason why I am getting it. If I could drop 500 bucks on a tablet I would probably not have a cellular version and would not mind going with something like a used S3. Then again every tablet until now has been a refurbished one. My Nexus 10 has had some battery issues over the last year or so that were always there but has constantly gotten worse. Now sometimes it dies after only a few minutes of being off the charger with the screen on and other times it will last a half hour or so. Either way it's just getting too old in the tooth to continue using. But it will still live on as a picture frame and music player for in the house.
I had the Tab S3 and now have the new IPad. This video is quite accurate, which I appreciate. The IPad does have better app experience and it’s processor performs better than android tablets. The Tab S3 is way more customizable, than all Apple devices and the S Pen is also way more functional and has more features. I prefer the IPad over S4 because I need more app support to have a better time getting work done, the android tablets literally have less features for the same app, such as Microsoft Word which displays onscreen of IPad at a higher resolution than S3, which shows more words onscreen and even more options than S3. The. Keyboard experience on S3 was terrible, but IPad is much more reliable.

Just bought the S4, upgraded from the rather dated Samsung Nexus 10. In this country the S3 was not all that much cheaper, so I decided that I'd go with the S4 for the newer tech, better battery and larger screen. I don't really care about the DEX or Iris scanner vs fingerprint scanner, but I do want to be able to watch videos for longer before needing to charge. So yeah, battery capacity and screen size were the deciding factors for me. If it was US$650 vs US$400 I don't know that I'd pay the extra, that is quite a wide price difference. But here it was NZ$927 vs NZ$833 which is only 11% dearer. I don't know why but it seems that the S3 is quite overpriced for an older model. If the price of the S3 Tab was only NZ$600 then it would be a much more appealing deal.

I use the iris scanner on my Samsung S9 plus phone and in the sunlight it's impossible to work with. You probably won't use your tablet very often in the sunlight at least I don't. But I think it's shity they don't offer the fingerprint scanner as well. I have the tab S3 and having to use the Iris scanner only will stop me from buying the S4 for sure. Thanks for the video

Dear Sakitech. this video reinforced why I took back the S4 and got a S3. It's back up tablet for my S2 which I use for music mostly. Thank you, super helpful. And for #100 bucks more, the S4 ain't worth it. The only thing I really hate about the newere Samsung prodcuts is the new plug. You can't lose that cable or you're sunk. Wonder why they did that???

4:3 aspect ratio is better than 16:10 for PDFs too. Especially US letter, but also A4.

Normunds X it's hard for me to give a comparison since I was having charing issues with my previous tablet I will say I do see my tablet drop down into the 30% range frequently but I'm not sure if that O bad battery life or because a lot of times I leave my tablet in a manga reader app that keeps the tablet from sleeping

Being that the tab s4 is 497 now and the s3 is still 450 should i get the tab s4? I like the dimensions of the tab s3 better and the physical button but i dont want to skimp out for 40 dollars if its that less of a product. Even so i like the overall dimensions and thinkness and bigger bezels of the tab s3 and are not worried about it only being 40$ less. Thanks for your time

my experience with the s3
pretty good, i use it to take engineering notes. The only problem i have with it is that the mag folio case does interfere with the writing slightly, towards the bottom left. mag folio case is a good case for watching videos. I bought a skin for the back panel today so i can pull it out of the case when i take notes.
Thanks for this, well organized. Here in Q1 2019, with prices dropping on the S4 w/keyboard, I am carefully considering trading out my S3 w/keyboard. The latter has been an entirely satisfactory product, btw. I'm undecided, but your comparison will make it a rational and well-considered decision for-sure. I usually rotate tablets every three years, and may wait for the S5 as yet another option!

Need advice please. I just picked up a brand new galaxy tab s3 for 299.00 brand new. I am looking for the same light build as the s3. I was thinking of returning it for either a tab s5e for 409.00 or tab s6 for 549.00. Maybe tabs4. I keep my tablets for at least 3 years. I am worried that the tab s3 will not get updates by next year because it's from 2017 and is not as future proof as others. Need advice please? Also would the tab s5e be a downgrade from the tabs3? The one feature I would consider upgrading from S3 to S4 is the on screen back and apps button. I can never find them when I'm using my S3.
Watching this on the Galaxy Tab S1. It is still doing great. But I will upgrade to the S4 if the price gets more realistic. Skipped the S2 and the S3 because of the 4:3 Display Ratio.

My Tab S1 is starting to die out, hoping I can find an lte unlocked model of this in grey, 256gb. The 16gb on the S1 is almost full, plus apps stop responding.
My S1 is dead after too many bashings on the screen when frustrated in clash of clans. In the end, it almost looked like a boomerang in profile. It was me trying to straighten it back out that finally killed it 😭 Bought the S2 yesterday as a replacement. 226 bucks.

I have an Ipad Pro 10.5 and I’m not happy because the LCD retina display gives my headaches after some time of using it but I also have an Iphone X and I’m not having any problems with it, maybe because the Iphone X comes with amoled screen. So I really need to switch back to Samsung, I used to have a Tab s2 8 inch without issues. I have the Samsung case with keyboard. It ain't great. Not really worth the cost. It doesn't need to be charged, as it gets power from the tablet, but it's very cramped and the keys are light and plasticky. Might as well get the same in a much cheaper bluetooth keyboard.

The only reason to upgrade from my Tab S3 would be battery life. I'm very disappointed in it. I got the tablet in June and it already came with Oreo pre-installed. I only get around 5 hours of SOT. Is this normal or not?
So on the tab S4 it says that you can use HDMI to hook it to a television or a monitor. My question is will it also work on a computer projector for giving presentations? There's no easy way to do that with the tab S3. Thank you

I own the S3 and the paltry internal storage as well as the very poor battery life and occasional lag makes it not worth it. I'll be upgrading to the tab S4.

the poor battery life is mostly due to samsung experience and bloatware apps. you can disable most of it and use Adguard to filter ads. I get 6-9 hours on it and I own it for about a year now.
I've used the iPad Pro, S2, S3 and other tablets in our drone club. Best overall image (video transmission from the aircraft) was on the S3, So I imagine the same for the S4 which is said to be around 800 nits brightness. S3 was 730 nits, and Ipad Pro around 580-600 nits. With a faster processor, it may also handle the app better. Even on the iPad Pro, there is some lag/jitter when yawing and pitching the craft that you can see in the display. I think the product and app is about as good as it can get there. On a flying device that transmits video to an RC and then from the RC to a tablet or phone, there will be latency. The bigger deal is loss of signal. Both devices were ok with that.
In sunlight, the iPad Pro is not near as bright as the S3 Tab. I tested them side by side with several people. Luckily DJI fixed the lag issues in Go4 app as of late. Autel Evo video feed is perfect on S3, and very smooth. There is a beta app for that product in iOS, but nothing official just yet. Still, the brightness of the OLED screen just makes the S3 and S4 a tad better for that usage.
Android Pie is supposed to streamline video handling, so we'll see if it's any better. Some are finding S4 discounts as low as $560, so all in all that's a hell of a difference between a Ipad Pro and pen which costs $750+
Don't count on Android pie update on Samsung tablet, it may never come.... Performance wise my ipad pro 10.5 beats my tab s3 hands down, I was really disappointed by the tab s3, the screen does look nice tho. The 16:10 screen, design and updated processor does make the s4 quite attractive, but since the new roumured iPad pro is coming up, I will hold off and see what it has to offer. For now I got the huawei mediapad m5 pro to serve my android needs, it's probably not as good as the s4, but it gives 85% of the s4 for USD250 less.
Actually all notes have poor battery life. The reason why is because the spen technology is battery-less because the screen emits energy for the pen to work on .

I'm loving mine so far, and I love the fact it has a big screen almost like a laptop especially with the original samsung keyboard I invested in for the pro 12.2, but it's feeling slower over time.. Went to my local Best Buy and tested out the Dolby Atmos videos that was built in with the S4 and the speakers at full volume cracked and sounded very abrasive. Played all the demo videos and only one (forest scene?) sounded decent. Went to the Chrome browser and visited a few sites (Amazon, NYTimes, etc.) and did pinch to zoom on the main pages and it was laggy and slow and just not a very pleasant experience. I have the old Galaxy Tab S2 running on Android 7.0 and it's much smoother... Anyone else experiencing this? I want to upgrade but the demo model didn't impress me except the better display.

I do own a Note 8 and everytime I use my Tab S3, I mistake my Tab S3 for the Note 8 and try to swipe underneath to get the navigation bar. I finally realize that the navigation bar are the buttons.

It's all about the software. The screen on the Tab S4 is way better but the Surface has much better software for productivity. Android versions of Office don't quite cut it.
I currently use (try to use) my S2 for fieldwork outside and need a tablet with a better sunlight readable display. My research shows the iPad pro 10.5 to be the best available. I am interested to know how the S4 compares. Any advice?

I got the Tab S and I'm planning to get the Tab S2 later this year, so I'll be saving up for that. I watched your comparison video of those two. One thing I didn't like about the Tab S3 was it was glass on the back. Also the Tab S3 and the Tab S4 are super-expensive! I think the Tab S2 will be just fine for a while.
Surprised you missed the difference in screen shape meaning the S3 has a wider screen (better for portrait handwriting), and the S4 no longer has the annoying capacitive buttons, using soft on-screen buttons instead, this last one in particular makes a big difference when you are writing on the tablet as it helps prevent the capacitive buttons being activated by your skin when you're using the tablet to write on.
Great review, i'd like to point out some things in addition to what you said.
If you are running tab s3 like i do, check out Sentio Desktop app which is almost an exact replacement for Samsung Dex with the ability to set custom DPI settings, it does require some effort to get it working but once you do that, it is on par imo with the DeX.
One more thing, the aspect ratio of the new tab s4 is way better for movies and media consumption in general but the tab s3 is actually more comfortable for reading pdfs and using it in portrait mode. i prefer the 4:3 over 16:9 or 16:10 because i do read a lot on it.
i prefer 4:3 aspect ratio tbh, better for web browsing and note taking, if you really want to watch videos without black bars, connect it to a 16:9 TV, better viewing experience too.

I can't believe I wasn't subbed to you yet. Watching this review on my barely 1 year old Tab S3. I must say that I'm a little bit sad. While I am satisfied for the most part with my Tab S3, I'm a little bit mad at Samsung for releasing the Tab S4 now instead of last year. At the time, I had a secondhand LTE Note 10.1 2014 Edition and was seriously considering upgrading to an iPad Pro 10.5 and chose this instead because:
1) I was more familiar with recent Samsung offerings (Note 4, Note 10.1 and Galaxy S8+) so navigation wouldn't be a problem. I had tinkered with newer iPhones and a buddy's iPad Pro 12.9 but the last Apple product I personally owned was an iPhone 3GS!!
2) The value proposition. As an amateur artist, I wanted to get back into drawing and even though the base price of both tablets were the same, the Tab S3 provided the S-Pen free of charge and didn't need to be charged in a ridiculous manner. This was a dealbreaker for me at the time.
Now this new version comes out with the screen and internal storage sizes I want. This is FRUSTRATING because I waited so long and patiently made a choice with careful considerations...
Question: How is the S4's wifi radio? The one thing I don't like is my tab S3 keeps losing the wifi connection. I thought I fixed the issue about 8 months ago. Now it's back to draining the battery with constant searching and reconnecting whenever it decides to se my wifi. My Note 10.1 2014 Ed. never had this problem! If this issue is fixed then I will definitely consider upgrading on that alone.

I am a Owner of Galaxy Tab S3 and let me and let me share some experience. first of all the back button in the Tab S3 is placed in very awkward position. when I try to write something, sometimes accidentally i put my hand on the back button causing software to close. for this reason I have to invert the display upside down and write my things. secondly which I need to consider is the battery backup. if you view a large PDF file and annote, the battery will last not more than 6 hours. from this perspective I think that the iPad Pro is far more superior than Galaxy Tab S3 for its Palm rejection capability, sensitiveness and responsiveness and after all great battery life and superior softwares.
I have a Tab S2 and thinking about a upgrade to a S4. My S2 works great for a 3 year old tablet but haven't had a software update for a year.
This is the video I have been wanting to see. As a person looking to upgradey 2014 note tablet, the S3 is the smart option unless I can get the S4 in the $450 or less range. I like the dex option, especially in my weekly travels, but my Note 8 can providee with dex as it does now.

I have the Note 8 (tablet), just had a new battery put in it so now I find I have less of an excuse to get a new tablet! You can do multi screen with it, why is Dex treated as new? Format sexier for sure, but not new.

Upgrade from de tab s2 to the tab s4?
I have S3, S4 and S8 ULTRA. I really love the big jumps. S3 to S4 was a great jump. Other than larger screen, thicker, much durable, faster and sounds better only that it is much heavier. Pen was larger but feels more like a normal pen. S3 pen is like my S22 Ultra phone pen. S8U is faster and heavier. Keyboard cover not as good as S4's but looks nicer and stream line and flat.
So if you want Speed and Dex(Desktop) is S8Ultra. For Balanced speed, Dex(Desktop) and mobility S4. Mobility and lightweight is S3. Cheers. Next part is optional. Read on to see why I don't like the S8 Ultra keyboard cover but love the S4's.
I just bought the whole S8 ultra set. Glad the keyboard is free... Omg the tablet and back cover is so heavy. Heavier than the keyboard base. :( Makes me worry if its gonna fall on my desk. Imagine dropping it on the floor. Might need to get a cheap "extension" to prop it up to prevent it from slamming backwards.
My recommendation is to just use it as a tablet propper without its keys. {Not like how he set up in video above) Just fold the keys backwards so that the keys face down (touch the desk) then u can rest the propped tablet on it without detaching the keyboard from the cover but this might damage the keys, so put a soft laptop case under the keys. At least it will be stable for tablet and pen use witthout the keys.
They should had designed it like S4 tablet where there is sufficient stability for use with keyboard even if its on your lap. Cheers.

Creo que de la tab s2 a la tab s3 si hay un gran cambio claro que yo tengo la mejor versión que es la de bestbuy la cual tiene 128 GB porque escuche que la tab s3 era algo lenta y esto era debido a que esta tablet su memoria era eMMc 5.0 en cambio la versión de 128 GB le use pruebas y es ufs 2.1 lo cual lo hace muy rápido en general, fuera de eso tambiem fue la primera con usb tipo c la primera con 4 altavoces, la pantalla respecto a la tab s2 mejoró porque aparte de tener más brillo tiene HDR 10, primera con soporte de Spen, ha tbm es la primera tab en ser 64 bits porque la tab s2 es de 32 bits no deja bajar todos los juegos o apps y súmale que al ser dos años mayor tiene oneui android 9 la s2 se quedo en android 7, ahora el salto a la s4 fue solo de diseño y dex y obviamente mejora altavoces y procesador, ahora la tab s6 me parece el antes y después porque esta fue la primera tablet en que lleva el procesador gama alta de ese año se refino bastante es la última tablet en tener pantalla súper amoled claro en 10.5 a 11 pulgadas porque la tab s7 y tab s8 tenían pantalla ips trajo lector de huellas en pantalla, y los altavoces ufs parecen una cajita de sonido, y esta tablet fue la primera en tener el soporte 3 años esta tablet tiene android 12 y en fin fue muy buen equipo hasta el spen tenia para hacer gestos como los note y ya a partir de ese hasta la actualidad son igual creo todas de diseño metálico ahora la tab s9 la de 11 la estoy adquiriendo por el tema que la pantalla en todas las versiones serán la misma y que para mi dan muy buenas memorias y el procesador creo que es el mejor que un dispositivo tenga, potente y no calienta encima es la versión mejorada.

I am finally getting an upgrade from a Nexus 10 to the tab S4. It's a carrier version at 700 with zero interest which is a major reason why I am getting it. If I could drop 500 bucks on a tablet I would probably not have a cellular version and would not mind going with something like a used S3. Then again every tablet until now has been a refurbished one. My Nexus 10 has had some battery issues over the last year or so that were always there but has constantly gotten worse. Now sometimes it dies after only a few minutes of being off the charger with the screen on and other times it will last a half hour or so. Either way it's just getting too old in the tooth to continue using. But it will still live on as a picture frame and music player for in the house.

I had the Tab S3 and now have the new IPad. This video is quite accurate, which I appreciate.
The IPad does have better app experience and it’s processor performs better than android tablets.
The Tab S3 is way more customizable, than all Apple devices and the S Pen is also way more functional and has more features.
I prefer the IPad over S4 because I need more app support to have a better time getting work done, the android tablets literally have less features for the same app, such as Microsoft Word which displays onscreen of IPad at a higher resolution than S3, which shows more words onscreen and even more options than S3. The. Keyboard experience on S3 was terrible, but IPad is much more reliable.

Just bought the S4, upgraded from the rather dated Samsung Nexus 10. In this country the S3 was not all that much cheaper, so I decided that I'd go with the S4 for the newer tech, better battery and larger screen. I don't really care about the DEX or Iris scanner vs fingerprint scanner, but I do want to be able to watch videos for longer before needing to charge. So yeah, battery capacity and screen size were the deciding factors for me.
If it was US$650 vs US$400 I don't know that I'd pay the extra, that is quite a wide price difference. But here it was NZ$927 vs NZ$833 which is only 11% dearer. I don't know why but it seems that the S3 is quite overpriced for an older model. If the price of the S3 Tab was only NZ$600 then it would be a much more appealing deal.

I use the iris scanner on my Samsung S9 plus phone and in the sunlight it's impossible to work with. You probably won't use your tablet very often in the sunlight at least I don't. But I think it's shity they don't offer the fingerprint scanner as well. I have the tab S3 and having to use the Iris scanner only will stop me from buying the S4 for sure. Thanks for the video

Dear Sakitech. this video reinforced why I took back the S4 and got a S3. It's back up tablet for my S2 which I use for music mostly. Thank you, super helpful. And for #100 bucks more, the S4 ain't worth it. The only thing I really hate about the newere Samsung prodcuts is the new plug. You can't lose that cable or you're sunk. Wonder why they did that???
