Man been watching you for awhile and can't believe you're right here!! You put in on the NC side but the world record came from the VA side near Goat Island. Nothing to come out to the bridges in Clarksville and find a 100 pounder!
you can really see that was a BIG bass at .25 speed that had your bluegill when you were bait fishing! I absolutely love that kind of surprise when fishing! just after 3:04 Edit: after watching a few more minutes, this might be one hell of a Bass fishery too, wow!
your one heck of a fisherman and that was one heck of a blue cat. for sure makes up for the one lost. i cant wait to see the rest of the footage. heard you were giving sermons over there 😊🐟🐟
Another FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! Very nice BIG BLUE, Hope you catch that size in the tournament!! That Bass attacking the Bluegill was so cool i watched that part 4 times and kept wishing it would somehow get hooked. You brought that big Channel in on that pole in a previous video - Can't wait till the next video!! Stay safe!!
I'm really enjoying living vicariously through your videos until I finish saving up for my kayak and trailer! Keep up the great content Justin! Picking up 3 of your rods for Indiana catfishing.
Justin, keep on making regular rod holders great again ! I appreciate your channel brother. You inspired me to get out Sunday, and I caught a 30 lb blue. I'm fired up again about catfishing.
Thank you for another great adventure and some nice fish great job especially for a body of water you never fished that just proves the caliber of fisherman you are sir....
We were at Kerr lake on Virginia side about 2 weeks ago and we caught all of our fish in 15’ and less of water. Very nice lake as there wasn’t many boats and not all built up with houses like where I fish in pa and Ohio. Would love to fish it in cooler weather rather than mid summer.
You were in my neck of the woods. I’m on the Virginia side but it’s all good. The dam after a heavy rain is absolutely mind blowing with the number and size of the fish you get in.
Beautiful Gollywhopper!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I hope my stomping grounds of good ol' NC was good to you!😃🎣 Were you able to get a 2-3 hour Raw & Uncut vid out of your visit? One of my most FAVE vaycays was camping there for a week, years ago, and I kept a hook in the water! Learned how to filet Catfish that trip.🥰
Catching bait was a struggle the rest of my time there so I didn’t end up doing a raw and uncut video on this trip. Probably film another this week though.
@KayakCatfish On behalf of NC, I'm sorry the bait was a struggle. But just enough to pull out a W! Which is still awesome, btw.🥇😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Looking forward to the next R&U.
Heya Justin. I have been "Gar-ed" like that before on WB on my dragging rigs in shallower water, shoot right up to the surface and thrash to rip the bait up so they can eat it, especially summer early mornings. Wakes you right up. Hope you are back in VOL country now, weather is perfection and the skipjack are plentiful again. WTG changing tactics. I get too stubborn sometimes and waste a good trip working bad water, thinking I am smarter than the fish.
nice cats man! Just subscribed really dig your videos as well, Im starting to get into kayak fishing, I’m sure there is more I’m going to learn on it, can’t wait to get mine out on the water and do some fishing before hunting season starts!
Hey Justin you need to come to Wilmington and fish the Cape Fear River there's a big cats in that River also since you're in North Carolina and close by me
Great video! Congratulations on catching some nice Blues! Wow! That one was a Golly Whopper! Good Luck on the up coming tournament! Your fan from north Alabama ghenley35
I told ya Kerr lake has got them!Try some points that are off a creek Chanel in bout 25 to 30 ft of water! That's a option but glad u had some success bud💯👍
Your in my neck of woods for once! Get away from Carolina side. Perch bite is on fire right now! Headed to the lake this weekend! Head to stanton river state park
I use very similar strategies to you when fishing on my canoe and kayak. A small thing I’ve come to realize is my hook size. I downsize to size 6 circle hooks when using bluegill for cut bait. A size 10 for larger cut bait. Might help you with the bites
Hi Justin, really enjoy your videos. I have a question. How do you plan around or deal with the weather in East Tenn? Do you just avoid going out on days with possible storms? That's hard to do since storms roll through here a lot! Do you plan around them? Do you use a trusted weather app? If you're caught out in a kayak and a storm pops up out of nowhere, what's your strategy to stay safe? Thank you. Appreciate your insights.
I haven’t found a reliable weather app yet. I just try to avoid potentially bad days. There have been a few times when I have gotten caught out but I just try to get to shore or under a dock as quick as I can.
Hey Justin, I know this is an old video. However, I was wondering, how do you think crappie would do on the Ohio river. This time of year I think I told you I’m going to take my dad down to see his family in North Carolina at the beginning of December.
@ hopefully we find out. I’m leaving on Wednesday of next week. The goal is to be down on the Ohio river early early before the sun even comes up hopefully get a couple hours in.
Justin - when dragging, lets say in 15' of water, how much line are you typically running? I am curious as you vary depths keeping enough line out to keep that weight dragging on the bottom.
I have happen a few times. I caught a huge bass ,pike and even a musky grab it while I was getting bait. It was very exciting but with the pike and musky they fried my ultralight reel.
I can tell you that a lot of times in catfishing in lakes you have to do that. I have fished lakes and rivers for 40 years and have caught my biggest catfish in 17 to 10 ft of water because the lakes have little structure and most that are feeding ,our in shallower water feeding.
Man been watching you for awhile and can't believe you're right here!! You put in on the NC side but the world record came from the VA side near Goat Island. Nothing to come out to the bridges in Clarksville and find a 100 pounder!
So fun watching Justin put the pieces of the puzzle together! Greatly appreciate how he narrates his thought process.
Thank you!

Edit: after watching a few more minutes, this might be one hell of a Bass fishery too, wow!
It’s the live scope
I sure wish that bass and made a jump so we could have gotten a good look at him.
How long are you gonna be down this way?
your one heck of a fisherman and that was one heck of a blue cat. for sure makes up for the one lost. i cant wait to see the rest of the footage. heard you were giving sermons over there 😊🐟🐟

@@KayakCatfish man you hear Oliver Anthony, Rich men north of Richmond. Holly cow bro what a song 💪💪

You gotta love to see a lake that isn't full of boats, and also isn't very developed. Great vid, love watching all of em!!
I totally agree with the preceding comment admiring your puzzling process as well as your masterful narration.
Wish I would’ve known you were headed this way - would have loved to meet you. We pronounce Kerr “car”. Love your channel. Watch every video.

My grandmother them use to catch 50 lbs cats every weekends outside the place they call the dike
great video. lots of fish, and some nice ones. if the cats don't want to eat the crappie, you eat them lol. stay safe.
You did good on the bait right near the ramp.
Congratulations on the big blue cat! Skill/experience got that in the kayak.
Those Carolina Blues are being feisty with you Justin!
Wow Justin another great video and I'm only 5 minutes in Make-a-Wish program in session for the bluegill and then bass action back-to-back

Ive fished Kerr Lake aka Buggs Island since I was a teenager. My PB blue came from the Dam. Always fished from the Virginia side.
Great session, buzzing.
Awesome video as always thanks for sharing and stay safe keep those lines tight
Another awesome video well done those are some big ones
I grew up fishing Kerr Lake and Lake Gaston. Monster fish in both.
Good work man! Excitement around every corner. I really thought those crappies would be the bait…and they are sometimes…keep pounding!
2 minutes in. Lovin it. Great vid already

@@KayakCatfishI was so excited to see you at the top of the leaderboard after the disappointment in Sandusky! Can't wait for the video!
Was there a thermocline? Here in lake Lanier and hartwell when a thermocline sets up you can burn them up in 20 feet or less
I didn’t see one where I was at
Justin where do you get your long pencil weights? Not sure the exact name of them?
I seen Ryan's Instagram so I'm looking forward to this
Are you gonna fish lake Norman on your trip to NC???
Not this time but hopefully someday
having fun fishing. have you try hot dogs with cayanne pepper and garlic and powered jello red and let it set over night. be bless and safe.
Beautiful lake
Come fish lake Wylie if your in the NC SC area. You wont be disappointed
Welcome 🙏 to VA
Hey Justin! Love your channel and your videos! Great job! Question… what is the make and model of your. bait fish ultra lite reel?
Diawa regal lt 1000. All my gear is linked in the video description
Thank you Justin!
what type of line do you have on your catfish setup?
It may have been a tough day fishing but at least you got fish smell on your hands
I hope you tried Lake Gaston, too. There's a hole over there I'm convinced is holding a gigantic flathead
Also, I have seen accidental striper catches on Kerr and Gaston just like that one.
Love the video's 21:40
At the 15:00 mark, that was more than likely a gar, every gar I’ve caught went straight to the surface trying to throw the hook
I use very similar strategies to you when fishing on my canoe and kayak. A small thing I’ve come to realize is my hook size. I downsize to size 6 circle hooks when using bluegill for cut bait. A size 10 for larger cut bait. Might help you with the bites
Link to how to make drift weight?? Txs.
It’s in the video description

Stripers in Kerr, I bet you had one on at the surface there.

I rarely drag lines more than about 50 yards behind me

I’m thinking of getting into Kyak cat fishing what is ur kyak and did u buy it like that or add on urself
Is that Cajun Line that you use on your catfish poles.
Yes
Thank you for messaging me back. I’ve used it for years. Awesome videos!
We are not allowed to use crappie as bait in NC, which sucks because I know they are prime flathead meals. There’s no shortage of them here either.
Hey just had to tell ya I ordered the chop stick series and reel
Awesome! Hope you like the rod and reel
I just received it today Justin and I love it. such terrific quality. Can't wait to use it@@KayakCatfish
I seem to remember you liking that 1 larger channel cat you caught in a recent tournament. 😂

@KayakCatfish I've blocked my fair share of memories too but they involve a lady, a cop, or a lady cop. 🤣
That's a nice fun sizer
Where is Kerr Lake? I only know of Kerr-Scott Reservoir
Come fish bluestone lake in Hinton, WV
