    Followed your instructions. I also attached a ziptie 12 o clock position to steering wheel (inline straight up from bottom spoke). Now you can see which direction to turn drag link from front of Jeep.

      VERY smart idea!! I'll use that from now on! No more running back and forth to see which way the steering wheel went. Thanks for leaving a great tip!! Have a great day!!

    Thank you once again for making these videos! My steering wheel was off center after I installed a track bar relocating bracket (can't remove it because of local laws) and I now also discovered that the whole steering was way off. Got everything back in correct alignment with you help! Thank you kindly! 👍

    Thanks for taking the time to post this video. So far it's the clearest on the Web regarding the steering wheel alignment on an YJ but somehow confusing towards the end of the alignment ,at least for me. I tried for hours this method but without success. Whatever I do the central spoke will never end up in the middle when wheels are straight…Initially it started with the center spoke in the middle and tires straight but like in your case I did not have an equal number of steering wheel turns both ways. There were 1-3/4 turns to the left and 1-1/2 turns to the right. With the wheels on the ground I turned the drag link until the steering wheel center spoke started rotating to the right(at 7:30) . It’s not clear in which direction and how much I have to turn in order to have the steering wheel centered with its central spoke in the middle and equal number of turns on left and right.
    You started with the wheels straight and central spoke in the middle having 1-1/3 turns on the left and 3/4 turns on the right with the steering wheel starting to move to the left at the beginning of the adjustment; In the end somehow the left was still 1-1/3 rotations and the right had the same number of rotations... . From there "I lost the track"...Not clear what happened next after the center spoke started moving to 4:00 o'clock...Up to there everything in the video was perfectly clear.

      You don't have to have equal turns on both sides, you just have to have enough adjustment to center the steering wheel. Make sure your tires are straight, don't worry about the steering wheel ... tires straight first is more important. Then use the adjusting sleeve to bring the steering wheel straight. To figure out which way to turn it just pay attention which way the steering wheel turns as you are turning the sleeve. If the steering wheel is going towards center, you are going the right way. If it is going away from center, turn the sleeve the other way. Hope this helps!

      @@Poweraddicts Thanks Chuck! I made the adjustments as you recommended and now the steering wheel is centered. There is a small difference in turns (more of 1/8th turn ) on the driver side but I'm very happy with the way it works...

    I have a 78 gmc pick up. The steering wheel is way off like at the 7 o'clock position. The steering wheel left to right is the same at 1.75 turns. If I adjust the drag link won't that throw my turn to turn amount off?

    if super picky....tape a bubble level to the steering wheel. You should also measure your toe. Not hard.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  Рік тому

    Does TJ's is that the same you would do on the TJ or I know it hasn't Tule Springs but what about a wheel alignment how would you do a wheel alignment on a TJ after you straightened out the steering wheel

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  3 роки тому

      TJs would be pretty much the same procedure. I'll be doing a wheel alignment video very soon! The wheel alignment would be the same procedure as a TJ and YJ. Its a solid axle set up so the spring type isn't going to make a difference.

  • @OVOXO117

    I loosened up mine and turned it like 100 times and the steering wheel did not move. I’ve straightened it before and it worked np , this second time the steering wheel is not turning at all.

    Can’t help but notice not steering stabilizer what’s the benefit to that?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  2 роки тому

      Me personally I feel like a steering stabilizer is just a Band-Aid to cover up existing issues. If the suspension and front steering geometry is set up correctly, a steering stabilizer isn't needed. Every person has their own opinion about them, I personally don't run them at all.

      hit the threads with some penetrating fluid and then grab a monkey wrench or something that can help you grab the bar good enough and try to twist it.

    Good video, but working under a vehicle not on jack stands is a bad idea for safety reasons.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  2 роки тому +1

      I never took the tires off. It is not gonna "fall off the tires" if the jack goes down.

    • @fenderguy5865
      @fenderguy5865 2 роки тому

      @@Poweraddicts The jack could have shifted and still managed to cause an injury or situation. I understand what you are saying, but you have to remember that some viewers may not recognize what you stayed and come away thinking that it's perfectly fine to use a floor jack as a Jack stand.
