    Working on cars before the days of UA-cam and the Internet when you had to know somebody that knew how to do it to show you you couldn’t just go on the Internet and look up what tools you needed and how to do it , all you had was Hanes manuals and bigger hammers

  • @denimjez
    @denimjez 10 місяців тому +33

    A jack or jack stand under the control arm will stop the control arm from deflecting your hammer strikes, and you'll be able to knock out the ball joint even when rusted in there.

    The only problem with this C clamp method, the bottom where the part is being pressed needs to be supported on the outter rim so as not to bind up the ball joint. It looks like everything worked out here but a socket or cup on the bottom is necessary

      Took a pickaxe head to break my balljoint stud free. Took a drill and drilled holes in the balljoint. This was to hopefully relieve some pressure and maybe it did I dont know. Let the steering knuckle bathe in oil for a day. Then used flathead screwdrivers as wedges and increased sizes going around. Bored out my pinch bolt hole and put a bolt with lock nut and washer.
      Thats the rust belt for ya. NE Canada
