I listened with my eyes closed and opened my eyes twice to Sony. Barely noticeable difference in favor of Sony, but the big downside is that it doesn't play CD-Rs, so it's not worth keeping another player, except as a spare in the closet.

I have several Panasonic bluray players. One is 5 and the other 10 years old. I do like the way they play cd's

It's close but for just playing CD's I think I prefer the Sony just a little. But I will keep the Denon as SACD's sound great on it.
