And everything is overheating in a matter of seconds.
@@hassanger8128 a car that isnt built for racing would ofc not be able to stay cool for longer than about a minute when going at insane illegal (on 99% of roads) speeds
you get supercar level performance for a relatively cheap price and the only bad thing about it is that if you are at a race track it will be more annoying than just a normal gas powered car. (I'd definetly would prefer a gas powered car on the track)
other than that i doubt anyone would reach 300kmh for daily usage anyways so its basically irrevelant (edit: I mean that you wont experience overheating bc you wouldnt reach those speeds on your usual daily drive) + the car drives itself which is a good feature, getting all that in one package for 130-140k dollars is pretty good imo

I finally drove a Tesla. Got to admit...the instant torque was addictive and the silence was golden. I could feel the speed instead of hearing it. It was visceral. Not a hater of these anymore.
Yeah, I got to eat some humble pie too. I was a passenger in a Plaid and it completely shocked me how insane the car is. I truly couldn't handle the acceleration. We drove it for about 20 mins and by the end of it, I felt nauseous. It was the fastest, quickest...(whatever adjective you want to call it) car I've ever been in. My palms were sweating lol. It's not just that it does 320. It's that it does 100-300 in a few seconds when other fast cars need a stretch of road to get there. The acceleration is insane I can't wrap my head around it.
Yeah cool, it's impressive. But it's still a Tesla, the electric car with no emotions and drama, the car that's unreliable, the car with questionable build quality and the car that doesn't stop properly for the speeds it is capable of.

Exactly, there's an appeal to both.
ICE appeal is the sound and the gear shifts in my opinion, whereas for EVs it's the throttle response, low center of gravity, and torque.
Not forgetting the excessive weight, poor chasis balance, poor repeat performance, performance significantly effected by battery level, poor heat managment. Boring or ugly aesthetic and defiantly not a cool thing to be seen in among driving enthusiasts

Eletric cars (and even trucks) are insanely fast in general, i mean the numbers some of this big heavy cars put out is crazy. And they are limited because of traction/tires that can't hold that insane acceleration.
You can also reach the top speed in ‘regular’ Plaid mode.(Or any non-track mode actually.)
That way you can keep the suspension in comfort mode on the autobahn. 😊

It isn't just the braking improvement but all the other tweaks they made. It is like I am driving a totally different car other than the insane acceleration. The S Plaid (and X Plaid) should have come with these brakes from the factory.

It is a tiny 2-seater, but a full sized sedan that I can take along my family and friends in. It is absolutely amazing to share the fun with more people and the performance is still insane with 5 people in the car.

Given the quality of the brakes, it is a pretty reasonable price. Unlike anytihng you add aftermarket with Tesla, this won't impact your warranty as well.

Dream car. Still blown away by how fast it was during the test drive I took. If only it had real stalks, thats the biggest turn off.

Fantastic review
Well, Tesla listened and fixed the issues the former Plaid had with this Track Package. What a great car. I was critical of the first Plaid with its one time for high speed use brakes, its yoke and limited 163 mph top speed. All of those things have been addressed. NOW it's a real landmark car.
Not really, it can’t manage heat and repeat performance. Performance is also battery dependent. What’s the point in a track pack when you spend most of the time resting the car because it’s overheating. It’s posted track lap times are not half of the story because with electric they should actually take the average of 3 runs (low, med and high battery states). Ice cars dont have this problem. You have 100% same performance at any level of fuel and can manage lap after lap without rest.
@@Pain4yourmind Yeah, EVs are more subseptible to heat with prolonged high speed runs moreso than ICE. However, the track package Plaid is taking steps in the right directions.

How many of us actually go to the track? I have owned a lot of modified ICE cars in my day. 700hp corvettes, rx7s etc in the past which were amazing. But this plaid is literally my favorite car. It does everything so well and it makes you feel a bit of an asshole because you drive in a way where you know nothing can touch you on the road lol.
I've given so many people dirty looks when they don't let me merge or when they try to go around me lol. I just look in my rearview and go NOPE! Not passing me!! Love this review, thanks!
What was the battery % and also kWh/100 km consumption in this test? Can you sustain continuous high speed (around 250 km/h) with this and with what consumption?
An approximation is that consumption (given a perfectly efficient drivetrain) increases with approx the square of the speed. So 320 km/h would use approx 10 times the consumption at 100 km/h, so maybe something like 200kwh/100km rather than the more typical 20kwh/100km.
I go back and forth with European cars lovers all the time in the comments section and I always say the same thing. I would take my Plaid over any car in the world because it does so may things so well. There is no better OVERALL car built today. It has an 8 year warranty on the battery and motors, it seats five, has more storage space than most midsize SUVs, including the Porsche Cayenne, it seats 5, has the best software tech and it's literally the safest car in the world in a car crash. Oh, and it runs 9 second quarter mile times ANYWHERE, even in the rain. 🤷
Now, if I lived on or visited a proper race track daily I would probably own a 911 or some other track focused car, but nothing comes close to the Plaid for day-to-day commutes.. NOTHING.

While I love combustion engines and their reliability + potential for actual tuning, I think EVs are impressive with that they do too. Obviously we need battery tech to step up if we want to have them as daily driver, but I see potential with sports hybrids. You can take advantage of electric engines with their monstrous amount of torque and combustion units for top speeds. With good power management from ECUs, such cars can be beasts. People do underestimate it though.
I agree 💯. I am a die hard ICE lover but man the S Plaid is so cool and I want one bad 😂
Very well said. I'm really glad some of the biggest sport car manufacturers are finally catching onto the hybrid train, we've now got cars like the SF90, Revuelto, and even the Corvette E-Ray. The hybrids are no longer million dollar hypercars like they used to be 10 years ago.
The koenigsegg Regera isn’t the world’s fastest 0-400-0 car for no reason.
??? e motors are literally better for top speeds than piston engines precisely because they have monstrous torque as you've mentioned. The only reason EVs haven't beaten the jesko yet is because they are rev-limited unlike all ICE cars with their weaker engines. However, manufacturers don't bother putting a gearbox in EVs as it'll only improve the top speed but not the acceleration, and ppl only care about acceleration.
e motors are simply superior to piston engines in every single aspect. Higher hp, higher torque, instant torque, ability to torque vector, and can adjust its power output order of magnitude times faster than piston engines. The problem right now isn't the e motors but the battery and transmission. Once solid state batteries come out and we add more gears to EVs there will be no reason for piston engines to exist from a pure performance standpoint.

@@Osajunior90same lol
Hope you get to review the Gemera with the V8 option once it comes out. Perhaps reach out to CVK, he seems cool enough to possibly let you have a go at it! 2269 HP and 2750 Nm should give you (and us viewers) quite the thrill...
Excellent video, and I cannot wait till to Tesla gets the Track Pack back in stock to install on my 2023 Plaid!
What a great car 😮 stunning
Brutal, what an impressive car and that's just a family sedan.
Amazing Tesla is one of the best cars❤🔥
This just became my favorite car.
Love this car so much
This is 50kmh faster than I did in my audi s3 8v. Got till 275kmh on tacho... And it can run about 280 with the drivers package :) I can imagine how crazy the plaid accelerates because I rented my friends P100D in 2020. So I know that it must be a lot crazier
Best car ever made
😂
light is there @ 22:00 !
Amazing
LOVE the YOKE!
The overheating would not be much use in a race though, if it has multiple laps. Although the problem with all forms of transport and fuel is not the vehicles or engines but the means of production.
Tesla Plaid is a luxury car. Family car! That just happens to have a lot of horsepower and torque, good suspension, wheels and brakes (with the track package).
@@myxalplyx luxury car? yeah I think not, materials are not up to par with the likes of mercedes, BMW, etc. tesla will never be on the quality front as german brands thats a fact.
@user-um3fx2vk8r Can Mercedes car self drive themselves? Do they get over the air updates 24/7/365 for free? Are they the safest cars on the planet? I could go on. The answer is NO. Just because you have nice leather seats and closer panel gaps mean nothing if the car is sitting in the maintenance shop for repairs most of the time. 🙄
@@myxalplyx LMAOO repair shops “most of the time” mate you’re clearly ignorant ☠️ my merc I’ve had for 3 plus years with tens of thousands of miles and 0 issues. I’ve had about 4 total. That says something. Maybe a cheap ass CLA will break down but C class, E class, S class are all reliable. And who cares about “car updates” lmao. I wouldn’t be caught dead in a shitbox Tesla that every single white mom owns 🤣🤣
@@myxalplyx and yeah, they can. Mercedes has driver assist which you can let go of the wheel and it changes lanes for you…do some research please
Full Brake at 4:12 is quite impressive!!
i drive a model 3 which is all i can afford for now and i am happy about it.
it already goes super well.
but be aware of the tire consume, i ate through one set of winter tires in less then 8k km
Very cool! What were the temps registered? Ballpark.. Tks
Passing cars at over 200mph is something else 😳
Balls of steel 😂
Average thing in Europe. Watch Gercollectors 1000hp Rs6 Video, passing cars at 225.
@@Euromasterrace5000 or a 800 bhp turbo gsxr1000 . fastest road vehicle you can get. zero to 234 mph in 5.8 seconds. check out chris moore. holds the world record for a street bike.
@@Euromasterrace5000 225? try passing cars at 260 in a bugatti or koenigsegg lol
Imagine once they decrease battery weight.
4680 models are 400-600lbs lighter next year. Model y 4680 Austin already here 400lbs lighter
Wow! Thanks Max.
Insane!!!
Can't wait to see the performance of it during winter. Wonder if cold air help cooling down faster.
I'm supriesed like how no one is talking about the strong limitation I've seen in this video. It's such a limitation the fact that at 10 pm (so not that hot) the car is overheating like that after 2 min of speed (and not even a top speed considered it was overheating also at 170km/h). I don't know.. if from a very objective point of view it seems to be an amazing car with crazy acceleration, to the other hand though, it's very limited considered the battery and also the overheating! Like what's the point if I can run it at decent speed (150-200) for just let's say 10 km before the overheating comes up and you are forced to go MUCH slower to let the batteries cool down? Isn't it a pain everything considered?
That is a good point. how far and for how long can you drive that ting at 150-200 Kmh ?
You can't have it all. I imagine 90%+ people buying it appreciate the effiency instead being able to drain the battery empty as fast as possible driving 330km/h...
Just interest but after this 80-320 pull for 30sec basically battery and motor are overheated so it wont go further?
From reading them, I’m gonna say 99 out of 100 UA-cam commenters who “will not have it, gotta have exhaust sound, etc…” have never been in any Tesla, nor driven a very high performance car. Some non-zero percentage are kids who won’t be able to drive anything for years.
I can't wait for the Roadster 2.0! That is going to make this car look slow.
It will never come out relax
@@spartan7306People were saying the same about this Plaid, Cybertruck, Model X with falcon doors, Semi...
Roadster will show what can Tesla actually do with 300k dedicated to a proper 2 door sports car
@@spartan7306 It will actually, it's just not a priority. According to Musk, Tesla is still working on design and engineering of the Roadster. This means that they intend to make the car eventually. If they wanted to cancel the car, they wouldn't still be working on it 5 years after they announced it and delayed it several times.
@@lukabosnjak3829lol it should have came out in 2018
Lul Tesla roadster never existed never came 8 years passed away I saw roadster trailer in 2016
remembering that the tesla plaid is still limited, by the sowfatware, and also because it has only one speed, I believe that with all that power, and a rotation that can exceed 23000rpm, it reaches 400km/h, or close to that
Must be possible when you remove the limiter
@@marcelkahr4615yes friend. Electric cars are still in development, trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Top speed is around 380kmh...
But will the tires handle that speed with the actual weight of the plaid ? Running 330+ speed with 2.800 kgs of weight is insane
@@lukabosnjak3829 I believe it is more, lucid air reached 235 mph with only 1000 horsepower, tesla plaid is more powerful, lighter, and reaches higher rpm, I believe it reaches more, more logical, it's just my theory
Amazing machine :)
I‘m not a fan of Tesla but we have to respect their achievements - well done and for the price point there is no better daily car that delivers this power and practicality. Cheers
