Finally a pair of proper brakes. And a normal steering wheel.
1600HP UPGRADE AND INCREASE 22000RPM !
Should have been included in the base configuration of the plaid to begin with. Nobody buys a 1000HP car to save money.
But better late than never, i guess.
I'll take one with proper brakes and a yoke please. Except, I'm relatively poor :(

@@TimothyApe Yes, I remember these earlier reviews and each and everyone of them warned about bad brakes, to the point that they became plain unsafe when going high speed.

At 5,000 lb, it's definitely a heavy car.. But it'll still go toe to toe with other cars on the track... And it'll destroy anything on public roads. 😘

True, even Tesla can't cheat physics. With that 5000lbs, i think they should have changed their suspension too rather than only tweaking the software suspension.
Its crazy how much people lie when it comes to Tesla. I mean Elon lies all the time, but even the people testing Teslas lie 😂
@@hitie6792 You can't cheat physics, it doesn't matter what kind of suspension you put in that car, it's 5,000 lb being tossed around on a racetrack. There's a 100% chance of understeer.

Also, pretty amazing how much effort Tesla put in to making a great overall product. You have to give kudos to the fact they they want to make a change to the environment and also much super fun products (like the traditional sports cars do). Great to see!

Yes those brakes should have come as standard on that car. Really like that it is possible to get it with a normal steeringwheel aswell :)
Is it worth getting the upgraded ceramic brakes for street use or do they have the typical issues on the street like needing more pedal pressure and time to warm up?
Yes, I own a Taycan TS and those brakes feel as good as it’s crazy acceleration. Saved me a few times.
Not worth it unless you're repeatedly braking hard and getting brake fade.
2.5 bar is a lot for a semi slick (in track) especially when it’s hot, around 2.0 bar is good for track

For the money, the Model S Plaid is actually a steal. In fact, all their performance oriented vehicles are. The Model 3 Performance is the cheapest car in its category (BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG, etc.)

Paul Ricard track must be one of the safest tracks around, huge run off areas..the one track where you could "afford" to have the bad original brakes
They come with standard steel Brembo brakes
@@larryc1616 Which are great for daily use, but are severely underpowered for on track. They are fine for a few times full hard brake, but on the track, you go hard on the brakes a lot. Need carbon for that.
@@Henry_Jr_Watsson depends if you really want to explore the plaid on public roads I think. I get them overheated from time to time

Not bad for a family sedan, people also forget this car is the safest vehicle ever tested with a score of 98% in the Euro NCAP, and safest car ever tested by US NHTSA. And costs $40 per month to charge. And almost no maintenance. And award winning audio system. Try to find a no maintenance, safe hypercar that also saves you $3,000 per year in gas bills.
For the price of the plaid now it’s probably worth it. The torque vectoring & new breaks make it superior ⚡️😎

How was the cold brake feel of the brakes before they warmed up? How was the brake feel in general? Is this going to work well on the street as well as the track or very biased toward the track with little street capability?

Does anybody know if you can order the full track package (with wheels and tires) -- and change out the tires to a square setup with MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 S -- 285/35ZR20 - to drive on roads? Wondering if the forged wheels can accept this square setup.

Damn, that’s some impressive speed and driving. Seems like a playful and fun car on track. For everybody hating on the handling: it’s a AWD 1000 hp car driven to the max with most electronic help off, go figure. It seems extremely controllable and adjustable to me

And with all of this you still have to keep in mind that you can take this same exact car, drive it back home, and do regular daily driving very comfortablely like going to the store, going to work, or going on a roadtrip with 3 other adults and a trunk full of luggage. Thats why something like the seats arent ideal for track use like you would get in an AMG C63 with its stiff high bolstered race seats, but they serve their purpose for everyday use.

@@carholic-sz3qv still software-limited. Somebody hacked their plaid almost a year ago and went over 340 km/h on a runway before braking due to running out of space.

Also. FYI. S Plaid new is around 114,000 dollars. Used with only 14,000 miles can be had for around 80,000 dollars. 2 years old 74,000 dollars.
