Donna was amazing in so many, many ways. Her personality, honesty and intelligence really shine in this interview. She was a REAL person!!!!

Donna Summer gives very open answers to some rather strange and arguably intrusive questions, she comes across confident and secure in herself.

I don't think any of those questions. The two ladies seem to get along very well and I think her questions give Donna a real chance to open up.

What a sweet lady Donna was. She had to tough out these intrusive, ignorant questions. She was wonderful about it.

AND THEY WERE IGNORANT…!!! I ONLY GOT THROUGH A FEW MINUTES AND IT SEEMED THAT THE QUESTIONS WERE ALL ABOUT THE SAME… I AM AN AGE WHERE I REMEMBER THIS INTERVIEWER AND I WAS NEVER A FAN SO MY BAD TO EVEN BEGIN TO LISTEN I LITERALLY COULD NOT CONTINUE LISTENING TO THIS..!!

Maybe I am wrong but today, many celebrities of today do not or cannot hold a thoughtful intelligent conversation like this.

I think many many could but we do not have formats that enable that. Short form content does nothing for depth in my opinion.

It was so eye opening to realize that the Queen of Disco was sitting on the throne watching her reign along with the rest of us as if it were someone else’s life. She literally played a character and never felt fully seen by us.

Thank you for sharing this interview. What an eye opening about Donna. I love her since I first heard her in 1975. I wasn't aware how difficult fame was for her. I miss her presence on earth

A great insight into Donna’s thinking with his interview. It seems to me Rona kept trying to push her towards politics. The fact that you are famous or getting famous and somewhat rich doesn’t mean you should go into politics. I did notice that in this interview. Rest in peace Donna, I hope you accomplished everything, or a lot of, what you wanted to in your life. I know I enjoyed your voice, and you were surely a beautiful woman with a good soul.

It's interesting to hear Donna talk about the depression she'd experienced ever since a kid. Depression would be something that came back to her life many times. She'd also talked at other times about how she was hospitalised with exhaustion from over working. It did make me wonder whether Donna may have had some form of bi polar, as so many performers do.

I did not like how Ronna press on that racism question. Donna answered well but Ronna came back around with the same topic. Glad Donna answered politely. I think she is class act. Thanks Donna for everything. ❤

I love how her belief in an astrologist’s predictions about 1979 came true. It was her biggest year on the charts & I’m sure made her far richer than she already was. Of course, it would have happened anyway. Bad Girls is an excellent album.

Donna summers was one of the most beautiful and sexy woman in the world. And then only that she was actually a good person.. she had a strong believe in God, and he could tell by the way she carried her self around other people, even though she had major issues she had to deal with on a daily basis. When we lost Donna, we lost a gem….!

...this is a HIGHLY intelligent Interview; Rona was thought of to be a 'low-brow' Gossip protagonist, but clearly she respects Donna, and goes for the REAL Hard-hitting questions (racism, dating White Men, Divorce, politics, etc.) ...BETTER than Barbara Walters! ...BUT, that last 3 minutes show why this interview was never aired.....eeek.....

    • @rgrndu

This interview not only aired (perhaps not in this full 37 minute incarnation), a portion was also officially released on a Rona Barrett DVD interview collection many years ago. I found nothing offensive about the last few minutes of the interview.

Astounding revelatory and honest interview to start. But then Barrett has to try and dredge up the race issue. This obsession of framing America as racist has to stop.

What matters is the entirety and the outcome of the interview so listening to what Donna has to say is enlightening and wonderful and highlights her flexibility and strength of character

i think barrett is trying to prove donna could not handle being in the usa and that she lived in a protective bubble something people like barrett lived in.
