I would like to know how to bend or shape photo etch parts that require them to be a bowl shape, like a radar dish.

I would love to have one of these. If you know somewhere I could buy one (post-production) I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

That's quite a nice tool for a different type of photoetch bending. PhotoFold won't do that type of bending.

what about folding PE parts into round finished pieces. another tutorial had an aluminum machined piece with graduated half circle troughs, then wooden dowels or metal rod to press the PE part into the troughs to create the rounded shapes. thanks for your tutorials--WELL DONE!!

Hi Erik. Thanks! Great idea - I will give thought to a hinge maker. PhotoFold is not only available in the US, but it's made in the US. You can find it at ParaGrafix(dot)biz. (Sorry for the non-link, but UA-cam doesn't allow posting links.)

how do you bend PE parts in should be in cylindrical shape?

For cylinders, you would use a dedicated mandrel. Most well stocked hobby stores carry them.

Making dish shapes is pretty tough - I have yet to master it. Search UA-cam on "dapping block tutorial" and you'll see many videos on how to do it for jewelry.

Looks good but only one thing.. the same price with normal Hold and Fold tools. What the point to buy this?

    Yes you right :)
Sorry for spending your time :)

There's something amusing about the idea of a photoetch folding tool made of photoetch parts you have to fold... Hehe.

The comparably sized Hold and Fold (5.5") lists for $69.99 - over twice the list price of PhotoFold.

  • @ParaGrafixModeling
    @ParaGrafixModeling  11 років тому

It's available at ParaGrafix(dot)biz. (I just added a link in the description.)

    42 pounds = $67.72 USD (i.e. $35.77 more)
    55 pounds = $88.68 USD (i.e. $56.73 more)
Or to do it the other way:
    19.81 pounds ($31.95) is 22.19 less than 42 pounds
19.81 pounds is 31.19 less than 55 pounds.

Forgive me, the schadenfreude of watching your example of how to build this wrong tickles me. Glad to see you fixed it in post though!
