  • Here's another unboxing & demo from www.scalewarmachines.com - the home of model making videos, articles & archive films. This time we look at the RPToolz Piranha Photoetch bending tools & conical roller available from www.historexagents.com/yt.
Photoetched brass or nickel detail sets are a way to upgrade or super detail your scale model kits. A tool like these, helps you to handle or bend these fiddly items.

Ah, Photoetching. I've been looking heavily into this. As I've mentioned on another video, I'm a novice. My goal by the beginning of next year, is to grab a Polar Lights Star Trek NX-01 Refit kit--light it, use a Photoetch set...and hopefully be airbrushing, as I'm only currently hand brushing. I'll have to keep this product in mind.

Very nice review. I hace the small shop “bug” (SMS002), but i am looking for something bigger as a second bending tool. Would you recommend the small shop version (SMS004, which is getting hard to find by the way) or one of this brand’models?

Either are good. Tend to use the Small Shop one more simply because it is slightly heftier feeling but both are fine.

If you use photoetch a lot these tools are a must.
But as a poor boy🤪 kinda on the expensive side but then what isn't these days ? I guess if you play you gotta pay. 😂 You can tell these are quality products. We shall see.

A fine brass wire brush (the ones around £5) would really bring some life back into your needle file, I find it indispensable for cleaning out the teeth on a variety of files I use :)

Thanks for the message. The next airbrush shows (June & then July) will be out a bit later in the summer. They are a bit behind due to vacations etc. but they've all been shot & will be out in one flurry. The aim is to release 12 this year - roughly 1 per month but we won't stick rigidly to that if we get a bit behind.
      Thanks.

Still looks hard as fuck. Ive been building 1/72 tanks for 2 years and just recently moved to 1/35 and the kits without PE are fine but when i get a tank i want that uses mandatory PE parts all hope is lost...

Did you try using PE yet? It’s really not that bad man!
