    Three meals a day became the norm due to the industrial revolution. Eat before work, take a break halfway through the workday, and eat again after work. This also applied to farm workers. No one cared or even knew about nutrition, metabolic rate, etc..

    • @rachelsl4492
      @rachelsl4492 23 дні тому +3

      That made sense as those jobs, well more the farm work, were not sedentary. Therefore, back then, the body needed more fuel. As we know because of labour saving devices and technology being light years ahead in comparison, less food/meals needed, because of the resulting sedentary lifestyles.

      @@GerardoHernandezF87M2Satiety can be much further extended by eating fat and protein.
      Eating carbs will increase glucose in your blood, you'll produce insulin to use that glucose, and then when you use up that glucose your brain sends a feeling of hunger. Depending in the form of carbs you eat, you can spike that glucose level and it will crash faster... meaning you're hungry faster.
      And the fat-free campaigns have done wonders at demonizing fat more than carbs. So people will eat a snack that fruits if they're healthy minded or chips if they aren't, or a small sandwhich... all of which will have almost zero fat and protein.
      Maybe drink a soda while they're at it.
      Then be hungry an hour or 2 later
      Fat might have more calories per gram, but the feeling of hunger doesn't entirely come from calorie consumption.
      From a cut/bulk perspective for gym people, most people will just say during a cut to get used to being hungry all the time. Because fat is pretty much non existent when cutting. It's all veggies and protein and usually rice or sweet potato.
      People that vibe with and lose weight on a keto diet typically don't feel the need to eat more than twice a day because they loaded up on fat and protein... no glucose spikes to mess with hunger signals. So even though they eat more fat, they eat less food overall throughout the day.

    I've been 2MAD for years... Just based off what my body tells me, not based off a clock or any other "logical" reason.
    I also work out in the evenings... Because I've always been a person that is "ready to go" when I wake up, i could exercise... OR i could get my best, most productive work out of my mind. Because I'm not retired, and my mind is my primary asset, it's a "no brainer" -- get things done for the day, eat when hungry (light lunch, no need for breakfast), workout fasted, then get a decent meal in after and don't go to bed hungry (going to bed hungry is the surefire way to guarantee a light, non continuous sleep until next morning)

      Agree with this 100%. People aren't doing hard physical labor daily anymore, so their is absolutely no reason for 3 meals a day. I worked retail for 5 years. I moved a lot and was on my feet most of the day, but it worked my mind much more than anything else. Now I work a job where I'm doing seriously hard work daily in the heat and I've been eating 3 meals a day which I haven't done in probably 8 years. I'm slowly gaining weight but I'm almost certain it muscle mass. I still fast on the weekend if I'm not doing anything too laborious. No reason to eat a ton of food if your not exerting a ton of energy!

    Do you consider studies based on the National Weight Control Registry--with over 10,000 people enrolled over 25 years (average 4,000 people), all of whom having lost at least 30 pounds and maintained that for at least a year (the average is closer to six years)--to be "bogus science"? Because those studies have shown that most participants eat 4-5 times per day, usually quantified as three meals plus one to two snacks), and eat breakfast more than six times per week.
    Also, since I can't do without coffee first thing in the morning, and need milk with it, I have to do my intermittent fasting by skipping dinner, not breakfast; and other studies you have talked about show that having meals in the morning might be better overall and that avoiding dinner hours before going to bed leads to better sleep might call for a morning through lunch feeding window. And might it be best if you, say, have an 10-hour feeding window it might do you good to eat at, say, 6am, 10:30am, and 3pm? I, for one, have a really hard time fitting adequate protein an other nutrients in with just two (let alone one) meal--I'm the guy everyone always teases for getting a to-go box with two-thirds of my meal because it takes me the same time to eat one-third of my restaurant meal in the time it takes them to eat all of theirs. I've always been like that, even when I didn't care about my weight.

    Everyone is different. The research averages people out. Are you vata, pita or kaffa in the Ayurvedic system? I tried one meal a day and I lost so much weight my muscles were waisting. I tried two meals a day and was sooooo hungry waiting for my meals and still loosing too much weight because I could not eat large enough meals in those two meals. So I eat three a day. I used to snack all day and eat minimum every two hours (and was still thin), so I think three meals are much better for me than that. My husband thrives on two meals a day. I can't believe he can eat a lunch as big as he does, but his weight is good and his blood sugar is good. We are all different. No one needs to snack all day, we know that much. I only thought I did because I was not eating balanced or large enough meals so my blood sugar would crash and I would snack.

    • @user-xe5yy1xy6x
      @user-xe5yy1xy6x 22 дні тому

      They are three different body/mind types. If you look it up you will find stuff about it. I am vata so I am slim, move fast, fast metabolism and fast thoughts. A kaffa person is more heavy set, not necessarily overweight, but a larger head and stalkier. They are just as intelligent, but process more slowly, slower metabolism, they are more earth element whereas vata would be more air. Pita is more average and I would say more balanced. It is an ancient Indian system that takes into account bioindividuality more than recent studies that group all these types together. If you do a study and more of the group is of a certain type it will skew the results. There are even different exercises and different healing foods for each. Vata is already dry and cold (prone to dry skin, feeling cold) therefor heal best with warm soft cooked food (no raw diet)! Kaffa is already soft and prone to feeling hot, so crunchy cold food is good. Anyway, I'm no expert, look it up and you will find it interesting.

You don’t need a large amount of it anyways. Someone being for example 200 lb and getting approximately 200 g of protein isn’t that hard. Even with one meal. No need to shovel it all in within 10 minutes. Take your time. You can multitask, when you have limited spare time. Watching TV while eating your protein, watching UA-cam while eating, cooking and eating at the same time (sip some protein shake while doing it for example). The list goes on.

Even housework was manual labor my grandma scrubbed the floor in her hands & knees, she used a washboard to wash clothes until she got a wringer washer, she used a carpet beater, she baked bread, killed the chickens for dinner & worked a full time job. Even with automation farming, steel workers, assembly line were hard work. So these ppl needed a lot of energy. @@LaciRaeThomas has videos that prove this theory incorrect. If this were so, many would be extremely protein deficient. Especially those that only eat 1 or 2 times a day. Also, a 5ft person and 6ft person need drastically different amounts of macro nutrients so a blanket statement of 30g of protein in one sitting is not logical for a metabolically healthy person. So much speculation? Just start intermittent fasting and persist in doing it in a way that is easy for you. Your body will automatically, though gradually, evolve in what is best for. I have been doing this for many years in this simple way viz. After my last meal for the day I do not eat until the next day and then only when my body ask for it. Without planning or forcing it I now am on OMAD. How do I know what works best? I just observe my own body's response without listening to 100 sales pitches about 100 different studies.

    Also someone who is overweight and self-conscious of their weight might be more inclined to lie stating they ate less than they actually do. Not because they want to pretend they eat less, but simply because they don't want to be judged or feel like someone is judging them.
    I know the reverse of this. I have a friend who is extremely skinny. He never finishes his meals (never) and when he goes out to eat, him and his wife share a meal (even salad - I mean who splits a salad?). On a regular basis he claims he eats 5000 calories a day. I am talking someone who at almost 6" has to buy his pants in the boys section because he is so skinny (and I'm not exaggerating here). There is no way (no matter how high his metabolism is) that he is eating 5,000 calories a day.
    My friend is active (plays pickle ball daily), but he's not running 10 miles daily or riding his bicycle 20 to 30 miles a day. However, he is (or his wife at least is) very self-conscious of how skinny he is and therefore they lie (not to deceive mind you) that he eats 5,000 calories a day and claim he has a very high metabolism. I've spent the whole day with them and I can tell you that he probably gets less than 2,000 calories a day on a regular basis. All that to say that self reporting shouldn't be considered in a study, but it has to be on a controlled environment or monitored in some way.

IT DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH CALORIES, SIZE OF THAT MEAL AND QUANTITY OF EACH MACRONUTRIENT AND OTHER NUTRIENTS YOU BURN, USE TO REPLENISH.
