    Love the riffs you played in this one! This thing sounds great, will keep it in my mind if I ever need to upgrade my amp situation.

    8:40 to 9:28 tones are incredible. Nice! Also enjoyed the shaky camera effect. Definitely added to the intensity.

      The G3 is just soooooooo good. I wouldn't mind swapping it for a G120 though...

    I'm not really a pedal type, but can you get some effects with the Two Note cabinet IR's or can you use Plugins from your DAW for effects? Last question- How would you play thru a PA (with no physical cabinet) and still be able to use your cabinet preset(s)? Subscribed!! Thank you so much!

    • @CatPickStudios
      @CatPickStudios  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! You can have different presets on the amp and switch those via Midi to have varying amounts of reverb and different EQ for example. And obviously you can also switch cabinets while doing that! (Every preset can have a different cabinet, EQ and Reverb applied).
      If you'd want to integrate DAW effect in the mix I would probably just run XLR from tha back of the amp into the audio interface, apply the desired effects in your DAW and then go from there to FoH. A very interesting idea actually!

    Me: Yeah, it sounds pretty cool, I can see myself using the d20
    Vlad: *turns on G3*
    Me: .....I NEED IT
    As far as I've seen if you already have some of the G pedals is better to get the d20 than the g20. Specially if you're going to use a great range of sounds/pedals. I'm a sucker for metal but this is efficient!
    This is a long shot but I would love to see the d20 compared to a good ampsim like the Archetype Nolly(which I personally use, even with pedals) for studio use. I offer myself for reamping if you want to!

    • @CatPickStudios
      @CatPickStudios  3 роки тому +1

      Haha thanks!
      And I like that idea you're suggesting, I'll keep it in mind. I haven't really tried any of the Neural DSP plugins and it might be time to do that. If I'll end up doing a video like that I'll be sure to get in touch!

    hey thanks for the video. a quick question: do you have problems matching the headroom going to a real cab and the headroom coming from the torpedo sim? I am asking as it would drastically change how you set your pedals going direct to a PA and have on stage a real cab...

  • @lacyrytex
    @lacyrytex 2 роки тому

    Great video and great tones! Really into one of those!
    How do you find the sound using headphones, does it compare to having a cabinet?
    When you are recording with it, do you use the monitors when tuning in and listening to the sound, or a real cabinet?
    For example if you are testing a new pedal, how is the signal chain out from the D20?
    Thanks alot!

    • @CatPickStudios
      @CatPickStudios  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks! Listening through the headphones is obviously a different experience as playing through a cab. You can add stuff like room reverb, but it's not going to sound like your room.
      I pretty much always use it with the cab simulated line out because it's not realistic to mic a cabinet in my studio as I have family members next room. I tweak the sounds using the monitors and to me it makes a lot of sense: people will get to hear exactly what I'm hearing instead of me trying to capture what I'm hearing in a room (mic'd cab).
      I always run my pedals into the front end of the amp, I just like how everything sounds that way.

    May I ask how you hooked this up/recorded this? I bought the D20 mainly for the headphone out but am utterly disappointed with it as is. Seems to clip even on high impedances and seems to produce some kind of modulation/phasing sound on any sustained gain even though using high end guitars, phones & pedals. Apparently you can't run the D20 as a 'pedal' platform headphones only, stacking drives simply sounds shit.
    I do however have some KRK's somewhere, so if I could somehow hook the D20 to (which?) interface and then feed it through my m1 macbook into the monitors and play that way. Would love to have some actual headroom with a 1200 eu amp..
    Little to know no about recording/studio gear though. Any advice?

    • @CatPickStudios
      @CatPickStudios  3 роки тому +3

      Hey! I went from the XLR out of the amp to the microphone input on my audio interface. The issues you're having sound really weird to me. I can only guess but here's some things you might try:
      1) Make sure you have internal load selected on the back of the amp
      2) Don't cranck the master of the amp higher than half, use the front panel's volume control for desired playback volume
      3) Triple check you have the cab sim on and if necessary, try swapping to a different cabinet to see if it makes a difference
      4) Check the tubes in the amp. While the D20 has bunch of cool digital wizardry in it, it's still a tube amp and the tubes will wear out at some point. That can cause all kinds of issues. This actually reminds me that I should get a new set of power amp tubes...
      Again, I'm just guessin here. Give these suggestions a try and let me know if any of those work. If they don't, I suggest you join the REVV Facebook group and post this thing there as well. I've found the group to be super helpful and the REVV guys themselves are there as well answering your questions. I'm 100% sure we all together will be able to sort this out and get your amp running properly.

    When are the amp's 6V6 tubes engaged when using the Pre/Post button?

    • @CatPickStudios
      @CatPickStudios  Рік тому +1

      When the button is pushed in, you're not getting the amp's 6v6s into your DI out sound and you can try out different tubes in the Torpedo software.

    Maybe a dumb question, but does it need a cab to function? Or does the head also work on its own kind of like a yamaha thr would

    • @CatPickStudios
      @CatPickStudios  3 роки тому

      You absolutely can! That's how I use it 99,9% of the time, just XLR into my audio interface. No cab required.
