    Simple, the pump and the line is sucking air. You have to "purge" the pump and the line with water, it means to put water in the pump.

    Having the water come out of the bottom drain would help to give more pressure and help out the small pump especially when there's more water in the tank. Having the line drop in from the top just means that the pump has to work harder to suck the water "up hill" (even though it's only a couple of feet) which is harder for little pumps and can cause them to burn out faster. Simple things often drive us nuts but you two are doing great and making it work, keep it up and never give up.

      I'm definitely gonna move the inlet of the water to the bottom.. I appreciate you

      Hello from East Tennessee! This suggestion (connect to outlet of tank) is the way we have our two 275 gallon Ibc totes setup going to our pump house with a similar pressure pump that y’all are using. Works fantastic! Good luck with the project nothing ever seems to go to plan off grid! (Speaking from experience)

      @KaitlynandPatrick That's what I've heard from a few people now so it looks like that's what I should probably do..

      Wrap your tanks in light blocking tarp...ridged foam in winter. You can float a tank heater in the tanks for antifreeze benefit.

      Yep ...pump first and those little arrows mean something, haha
      Gotta let gravity work for you. Draw from bottom of tank, lower the pump nearer bottom of tank, be patient grasshopper. Namaste

    You have to move your pump to the bottom of the tank and take the water from the bottom of the tank not from the top of the tank RV pump are usually 90 PSI And they have to be primed so that's why the water pumps are at the bottom of the RV tanks not a big deal just suck your water from the bottom

    The difference in your garlic varieties is "hard neck and soft neck" The hard neck grows a scape with the little nodule that is the flower. You should remove the scapes. This puts more energy into the bulb wich will make it bigger. The scapes are also great for cooking with or making pesto.

    • @OffGridGrowing
      @OffGridGrowing  4 місяці тому

    You're doing great. The one thing I will add is that if it were me, I would build an outdoor bathhouse to keep the humidity out of the dome. You'll notice that most of the people who live in yurts have their showers outside. I couldn't see your setup real well but does that pump need to be primed? I'm sure you'll figure it out. Most people have the same issues, they just don't film it. You keep it real. ;) - Cheri'

    Great long episode. Always learning and showing the reality of Offgrid living. I still fully believe in my 3 gallon solar shower bag. Perhaps that pump needs to be below or at the lowest water level Sean. Because those pumps are Pushers. they are very efficient when they push. The one i set up in my dry shed works amazing. 3 years now. same as yur pump. @@OffGridGrowing the water outlet to pump also needs to be down low and not out of top of ibc. Pump is trying to push water up and then down which creates air in the line (why you can hear air going through pump and very little to no water)

      @@OffGridGrowing We’re working on revising our gravity fed system. Our water heater is similar to yours. It gravity feeds from a 55 gallon drum less than 10’ above. Water runs enough to shower without a pump at all, but the unit won’t kick on until it senses enough pressure. We have a pump we use to pump water from the rain collection to the tank uphill, so I used that to supplement the gravity feed so our heater kicks on.
      Eventually I’m going to build a water tower with an IBC tote so I have enough pressure to kick the pump on. So the higher your water, the better.
      I’m not sure, but RV filters may have better flow. They’re cheap and easy to replace. That’s what I plan on using. Either pumping into the tank or as it gravity feeds, I haven’t decided yet.
      I’m not exactly sure what your terrain is like, but I’d recommend getting the water higher than the outlet, larger diameter lines, less turns and joints, maybe an RV filter would help since it’s more in line.Use gravity rather than fight it, even if you still need a pump. Make sure you don’t have any leaks.
      Every turn, joint and fitting will add friction, so streamline it as much as possible.
      Hope this helps. Hot showers off the grid are the best.
