- Can you believe it's been three years since we embarked on this off-grid journey? Well, guess what? We've hit a major milestone: solar power is officially up and running in our Geodesic Dome! Finishing the build of our Eco-Worthy Solar Tracker system marks a major step that we completed in making our off-grid lives that much easier. Since we left the city to move off-grid, life has been going at a pace of our choosing. Learning to appreciate every moment and accept things will come in their time. Those things have finally arrived as we can now harness the power of the sun to make our lives more comfortable.
So, kick back and join us for a laid-back glimpse into our off-grid life. From setting up our solar tracker system from Eco-Worthy to checking in on our buzzing bees and hunting for morel mushrooms in the woods, it's all here, raw and unfiltered. Finally, solar!!! congrats! I'll like to suggest something now. Since it's spring time with summer temps It would be wise to go get y'all some black out curtains to hang up in front of y'all's big window , so to keep out the sunlight and heat during the day and to keep the Dome cool. Look for the curtains at thrift stores and good will stores. I know you will do good this year in growing you garden, Every year your garden did good and with each year it gets better. What do y'all want to get done next? Oh yeah need to start cutting up dead trees for fire wood every time y'all come across a dead tree. You can never have enough fire wood for the winter.Well can't wait to see what's next. Have a good week.
Yea we definitely need to put up the blackout curtain that we have for the window.. Just need to get a few things for it still. New rainwater Collection is next I think so we can get water to the Dome

keep the morel cooking simple, just saute them in butter. you will taste the mushroom. mighty fine eats!!! I hope the new solar system will be able to handle some strong winds ?
It has a wind sensor so it goes flat to help with stress but I'm already thinking of getting stronger unistrut to get ahead of any problems

The orchard is doing pretty good and everything I put in it this year is growing like crazy 😁.. We are getting ready to plant the Plums for Messers Nursery in the next few week
I have one of those wagons,..they are nice. Did you ever fry anything in peanut oil ?? It's expensive, but gives your food the best taste. Nice solar system, didn't know it moves by its self. Cool 🙂👍 Mmm stuffed peppers, we make that a lot.👍
The wagon should help Jes a lot.. I think Allen did fry us something in peanut oil once before but I can't say I remember what it tasted like... the solar is one step up for sure

@@OffGridGrowing yep sure am it will get cooller from now on but only have about 6-8 weeks of really cold where the temps will be around 12C in the day and around minus 2C to positive 4C at night . nothing like what you get but cold for us .

When you put the sub roof on it will tighten it up and it won't be able to shake them walls at all Advil houses for 30 years or better

@@OffGridGrowing we got a dome from Pacific Domes and got the solar fan kit with it. It mounts up high and automatically kicks on when the temp reaches 80° on its thermostat.
We were going to get that but when we ordered the dome we couldn't afford that feature unfortunately :( Does it work good?
@OffGridGrowing yessir, works terrific 👌 has its own solar panel attached to it. Self contained unit. Our dome would be a sauna without it. 😆

Looks like those panels are going to end up breaking that thin steel you got on there I'd be putting it on a good slant wouldn't leave them flat
They are on a slant but I think reinforcing them or getting thicker steel is needed for sure

Also we have same ac unit. We too use generator but has to be our 5500 watt. Gonna try and keep up with what u use for solar watt and batteries
I'm going to add done more panels in the next week and we should be able to use the ac all day off our solar

hi there, my name is Armando. I did a collaboration with my channel with Ecoworthy and they send me the same solar tracker. Now they told me that the actuator that moves the structure East to West should be mounted on the west side and not the east (seems that because of some feedback they made this change but not on the paper instructions). So...for me the system works, I don't have any particular problems. Switch side for me means pretty much uninstall everything (not looking for). I saw you mounted the actuator on the west side, is there any huge difference? Seriously I wonder if there is a difference before to take down all the system and pretty much reinstall. thanks
Honestly I'm not sure if there is a difference.. I have only had it mounted on the west side so I can't really speak to how it operates mounted on the east. Does it track the sun ok?
@@OffGridGrowing so far yes, I was looking for some technical reason why should be on the other side? Maybe because the movement it's always to the west?
@VivereInCamperMacchitelofaffa I think it's less stress on the actuator to pull instead of push.. I honestly did thevsame thing at first because the directions were not clear. I took it apart and redid it.
