Thank you for this video! I have no idea why the r3 stem has to be unique and not compatible with anything but I just got my ball mount stem on and my quad lock will be tomorrow. I also greatly appreciate the torque spec and tutorial on how to use a torque wrench! I haven't used one in a while and that was a good refresher.
Idk. I've heard people day they just tighten it till they think it's tight. I'm pretty sure it's in the manual somewhere. I thought I got that info I had from a legit source but I can't remember haha
Thanks so much! Very informative video. I was dumbfounded when I realized after I bought a whole kit that it wouldn’t work on my 2016 r3😂. Could you do a chain cleaning video??
What is the purpose of setting the torque value/pounds? I’ve looked at other videos but no one explains WHY it’s done and how to know what to set it to with differnet bolts etc.. I don’t understand😅
Every bike should have a recommended torque value for that nut or bolt or whatever. This nut is pretty important if you wish to keep your handle bars on your bike. Lol.
There is no hole for the normal stem mount. My zx6r has a little plastic insert in the center of the bolt that pops out and the stem mount fits right in but with this r3 you have to remove the entire bolt. Idk why it's designed like that.
@@Bennyroguefor which models is this an issue? I have a 2022 R3 and don’t know yet without having unscrewed it whether it needs the ball adapter or not.
@eboldt if you wish to mount a phone in the center of your bike you need the ball mount. There is no other way. The good thing about the ball is that you have the ability to rotate your mount in multiple directions which is nice.
We looked at so many mounts. Couldn't find any that worked. Then we seen this one. There is hardly any videos either for phone mounts on r3s. No "how to" anyways. Glad you found one that worked. 👊
Seen a few people online saying they just took the stem nut off and put the quadlock on without replacing the nut, sounds crazy but curiouser what others opinions on it..
Hello from Japan! Thank you for posting this video. It’s really helpful! By the way, did you lower the clip on handlebars of your R3? If so, I would like you to tell me how to do it.
We had the whole bike lowered at a shop. They may have done something with the handlebars but I did not. Also, hello!! I've always wanted to visit Japan. 👊👊
@Moto Gear Solid all good. That was couple years ago now. In my "4th of July" video its all in there. The accident. We already fixed everything on the bike. Rear end was pretty messed up. 😕
@ItssZeusr good thinking! I went off of Yamahas torque specs for the factory bolt. I guess I didn't see the specs for the new ball screw. But so far so good.
@@Bennyrogue haha thank you I actually received today roughly abt 2 wks after I bought it lol it was in my mailbox sometime while i was at work I just didn’t have any shipping updates or information so I was just curious.
@@Bennyrogue currently doing my research to do that on my bike, steering stem mount on 2015 r3 with quadlocks wireless charger. Ill be sure to let yall know how works out wish me luck 🤣
Did anyone else have a seriously hard time getting the stem nut to shift? I don’t have a torque wrench so trying it with a socket wrench and can’t get any movement.
Turns out a regular socket wrench will totally work, you just need to not be a woman with terrible hand strength 😊 Got a strong armed dude to undo it, he managed it easily. Thanks for this awesome tutorial - it helped alot! Got it all mounted now.

Okay thank you I’ll have to take a look! And keeping the handlebars on is helpful 😂
Why won't the fork stem mount from quadlock just fit?

@@Bennyrogue and removing the entire bolt is dangerous I assume?
@SamSideNL it can be but it's replaced with another bolt that I torqued down. So far so good.

I had a phone mount on my R3 with a Ram mount and Brake/Clutch ball (RAM-B-309-1U).. Not a cheap setup, but worked well

I know you gotta put something back in. I ordered that special stem nut with a ball on it. Some bikes just work with quadlock but the r3 don't. Idk.

@Moto Gear Solid agreed. I know they did now. I remember. Around 2in I'd say.
@Moto Gear Solid I couldn't tell you personally, my wife rides it. But my brother low sided it so maybe. Lol.

The website for the stem Nut says do not exceed 30lbs of torque and you used 60lbs? Just want to make sure I do it right. Awesome video.

Do u remember how long it took for the Fork Nut to arrive when u bought it??
😬 I don't but it had to be at least 2 weeks.

@@JesusBeliever188 perfect then! 😄
What specific adhesive did you use on the stem nut?
Just a mild thread sealant. I would not use a strong hold. May need to remove it in the future.
i had the ram ball mount thing from the previous owner but threw it out 😭
Nooooooo!!!!
Hola, podrías dejar el link de los productos?
Everything was purchased from Amazon except the stem mount with ball. If you search the name in the video description it will pop up.
Hey. Can we add the quad lock usb wired charger to this setup?
Great question! I have no clue but if you find out comment back!

It is suppose to be torqued down so I'm sure it hard to get off without the correct leverage.

For 2022 Yamaha r3 the torque is the same ?
I did a quick search and it looks like it is the same torque spec.
I also have a 2022 R3. Did the quad lock from the box not directly fit?
@@eboldtno it didn’t, I had to buy everything that bought on the video.
do you need this for the 2015 r3 as well?
I would guess so but not 100% sure.
What size did you use for the double socket back mount there sm,md, and LG
😬 I'm sorry but I can't remember.
A video on adding a slip on exhaust on the r3 🤔
Already a video on that lol. Its a while back but I made one. Its funny.
Can I use the fork mount instead of the ball? Or is that not possibel
We researched a lot and this was the only way we could get ours to attach.
This set up is not cheap at all smh , but only one I found to be solid
Agreed.
