Just saying, this is a cover of Sabaton's song by the same name.
And Elize, after the Nightwish "Denver Debaucle," makes sure to learn the music of the bands she tours with, just so she can take over, in case something happens to a vocalist in another band.

Just an add to an good post: It was made as a fun tour promo. As they were joining Sabaton on tour. Video is also shot as they were preparing to go, in Sabatons studio I believe (?), you can see a few Sabaton "stuff" if you keep your eyes open ;)

The recorded lyrics for "82nd All the Way" mistakenly attribute Sergeant Alvin York to the 338th Regiment rather than his actual assignment to the 328th Infantry Regiment. Sabaton corrected the mistake when they played the song live at Wacken Open Air 2019.
Interesting, first historical fact mistake that they've made that I'm aware of. Haven't really looked for mistakes to be fair but either way :)
this is probably my favorite sabaton cover they have done. Amaranthe has also covered Powerwolf.

Fantastic song about Sgt. York an American War Hero. Its not metal but you should listen to the jump song that paratroopers have sung since ww2. "Gory Gory, what a hell of a way to die" Sung by the 82nd Airborne choir. Its the same division the song is about.

Its almost like a mix of eurodance and metall... with ... sort of a nightcore thing over it... with the very fast pace...and a high vocalist.

I think its so funny that it is metalheads that are the ones writing the most famous pop songs on earth. Basically if you fail as a metal artists, you write pop songs in sweden, max martin and shellback are two of those. Both metal in their core.

It was originally the 82nd Infantry, but became the 82nd Airborne in WWII

IMO I agree with you, but I also like when bands cover songs by artists whom have inspired they to pursue their own dreams of being musicians.
I liked that both bands did this song together in Oslo.
Better is subjective. For me, Elize adds a little something spicy to the mix. Sabaton wouldn't have allowed them to put this version on the new album if they didn't like it.
