Brian....of all the pedals you have designed the Tumnus Deluxe is, by far, the best pedal that accentuates all the other pedals. Even by itself, it is an amazing pedal and has been on my pedal board since its inseption. The virsatility of this pedal speaks for itself. What amazes me is you not only love your products, but challenge others to be as good as your pedals. You also recognized other companies and how good their products are. You are a true visionary and realist and love competition. That is the main reason that I always put your products ahead of everyone else. Keep doing what you do and you are an inspiration.....
The Tumnus is amazing and inspiring - I own a K and I can tell you that if I have to only have two pedals on my board...it'll be the Tumnus Deluxe and The Doctor Lo-Fi Delay every time! Thank you, Brian for bringing joy to my life ! Your genius is greatly appreciated
My God, that tone out of your amp and that Tele! That first strum of the clean sound made my head turn. I realized that’s the tone I been seeking for years.
When I first plugged in the Tumnus at home it sounded okay. When I used it on stage, that’s when I “got it”. Now I never turn it off. It makes everything sound better and more alive. It cuts through the densest mix without sounding hyped. It’s the drive for people who hate drive pedals and love their amp tone but need a little more hair on the note. Internally it runs at 18 volts and the drive knob is actually a mix knob. That’s what I call “transparent”. The buffer alone is worth the price of admission. I would not want this pedal in true bypass. Love it.
Something different happens when you have the hot switch on and you pass 3 O'Clock on the gain, it goes from being an overdrive to being slightly like a distortion pedal, lots of sustain. Having the EQ, opens up another world of tone and it has a built in buffer which is switchable. Its awesome.
Just got home from a trip and my Tumnus Deluxe was waiting. What a KILLER pedal. Great sound alone and added spice when stacked with other gain stages. Congrats Brian and all at Wampler!
Just got the deluxe for my birthday. I love this pedal so much - it is perfect. Thanks Brian for making such an awesome piece of gear. This is gonna get a lot of use for sure.
I can't even describe it. The Tumnus deluxe is by far one of the best overdrive pedals I know. What a great Sound 👌Fat, warm, transparent and a brilliant dynamic. Everything comes alive.
I bought Tumnus deluxe january 2018 and it has been on my pedalboard basically ever since. Current setup I have it before Pantheon and Belle so there is almost endless possibilities to have a versatile flavours. Thanks for great pedals and cheers from Finland!
I know I don’t understand why all the guys that do these demos keep all the settings so conservative. The volume is low, the settings are all at noon or lower. Half the time you can’t even hear the difference between the amp sound and the pedal. All you hear is a slight bit of crunch and a slight volume boost. For the price of some of the these, I would like to know what they can actually make a difference in tone and make the guitar scream. Strumming G, C, D with the volume on 5 isn’t cutting it.
GinoMarks because that gained up tone/style of playing guitar is just plain worn out. Nobody has done anything interesting with it in a long time. People just want to hear something new instead the same old boring blues rock solos.
You da man Brian! These pedals are awesome. The Deluxe is the needed step forward. All the changes were exactly what needed to happen. Thanks for taking us to the next level.
Brian, I like this pedal a lot - great job! To me, it kind of sounding like some of your other pedals though. You know what would be a good video? One that explains the tonal variations between all your drives giving samples of the differences. Keep up the good work...
I've been gigging wit this all year. Excellent pedal. I love to have the bass at noon, mids at 1, treble at 3, level at noon, and gain at 4 o clock. Great lead and rhythm rock/blues rock tones. For soaring leads, I'll run this into a boss EQ (GE-7) as slight mids boost and overall volume boost. Single coils with this into any fender amp is magic. Also love put this in front of a cranked TS808 - fantastic sustain.
Love the funky progression starting around 8:42. I have the smaller Tumnus and it's been an indispensable part of my board. Now I have to have the Deluxe. The gain boost option alone is worth it, and more control over the EQ is a super feature as well..
Great tone. Love the Whitfield tele sound with the Tumnus dialed. I want to buy one just to support boutique pedal makers like yourself. Excellent and thorough demo.
If I had to get a "big box" dual pedal, I'd actually rather it be the Tumnus DeLuxe joined with a Sovereign distortion and call it The Sphinx (get it?). Or, if you do a double-overdrive pedal, it would be cool to have the Tumnus DeLuxe joined with the Clarksdale, for when you can't decide between a K-circuit or a TS-circuit.
Bought one. Instant magic. It just puts the amp sound into being a higher source of inspiration and I can tweak it from there, but I haven't had much reason to tweak. I use it with a Marshall JVM410HJS. I use a lot of amp gain and this amp has a lot of gain, although not as much as the standard JVMs or other popular Metal amps but the Tumnus just sculpts, adds definition and boosts nicely. I am not boosting hard, just very slightly above unity gain, but wow!... this really adds some magic and helps quite a bit in getting nice sounds for recording too. I was surprised the first time that I played back a recorded track with the Tumnus in the guitar signal chain. Sounds great after a distortion pedal too, although I only use minute amounts of distortion from pedals because I use preamp distortion. I use distortion pedals for boosts and just to add a hint of character that I want for certain parts. (I backed off the Tumnus gain a bit as well.) The Tumnus adds life to those other pedals. This pedal is now a high value necessity for me! It's not going anywhere.
I recently purchased a 2019 Les Paul Traditional going to an Marshall DSL 40. While the amp's overdrive is a bit bright at low levels I used an eq pedal which (poorly) shapes the tone. I even considered changing the speaker having the amp for less than a month. Instead, I tried a Tumnus Deluxe. The Tumnus gives you more tonal flexibility, the overdrive is much more refined in conjunction with the drive from the amp. It definitely improved the tonal characteristics of my rig. It works best on the clean channel and is a dream on the classic crunch. It tempered the sizzle and tightened the bottom end a bit. Just what I was looking for. The tonal possibilities vary greatly.
I've watched this a couple times, watched a few reviews from other channels, I liked it but I didn't jump out and buy it.....I finally bought it and man, it's so sweet!! Just wanted to say thank you, this pedal is nuts but in a really good way!
I've been looking at klon style pedals for a while now. Honestly I think this is the best sounding clone circuit out there. It has that breathy organic quality of the original. Lacking in a lot of the other clones. Seriously thinking about buying this one
@@brianmersmann76 orange dark terror, the lunch box sized amp. I run the gain on the amp at 8-9 o'clock to a Peavey Valve king 4/12 cab, 16oms speakers. I mostly use a PRS S2 McCarty 594 with lower output pickups .
Dig it! Love the pedal and I can totally see this in a dual configuration pedal in the future, meaning that one side is “clean to K style” and the other side is “K to rage style”. One of the best pedal on the market today. Tumnus!!!
Loved the pedal so much, I bought one last week .... Nice touch with the battery too, well thought. I've got power now so I've taken it out. Impressive design Brian . Massive thumbs up from the UK
That's such a wonderfully sparkly clean tone from the Bravado, Brian! I'd be awful proud of that amp. And obviously with th Tumnus as well... just... damn.
I like the way you can maintain the tone that you've dialed in on your guitar while adding additional 'balls to the wall' with the pedal. It also maintains the individual string separation well, without 'coloring' the tone. This is a very nice pedal, indeed!
I'm here because of Pete Thorn. I pulled the trigger tonight on the Deluxe. It's very round and warm to my ears and has a great amp like feel. Like no other OD drive I have played. I really enjoy the pedal, a lot. I will probably be selling my Friedman OD soon. Great pedal, but now sounds thin and sterile to me. Thank you.
I liked how you "played with it a little bit here ". I own 5 of your pedals and I definitely need the tumnus. Thanks for the great gear and awesome videos. Peace
I just received this pedal from Sweetwater after a recommendation from Wampler, and viewing Pete Thorn's demo of the pedal. This pedal kick's ass! I was 100% happy the second I heard it with all knobs at noon right out of the box. I only have to adjust the gain when I change from a Les Paul to single coil guitars. Awesome!! Thanks Wampler, Mr. Thorn, and Sweetwater :)
@@dbo4506 Well I called Wampler and asked them what pedal they would recommend for what I needed, which I really hadn't found yet, and they suggested two of their pedals, I went with the Tumnus and I am certainly happy with their recommendation, it is the perfect pedal for what I wanted, transparent boost with some gain if I want it, I use it for my first gain stage out of three, It's almost always on unless I need really clean.
I bought my first Wampler pedal the Tumnus Deluxe. I have been looking for that sound that red dirt country sound like out of Austin, parts of Oklahoma and Texas. This pedal is perfect for that style. I know you think of rock but as you are aware this pedal is very versatile and perfect for the more rock/ country sound. I will never sell it. Today’s pop country can go away. It’s crap. Almost every song sounds the same similar beats coming out of Nashville. It’s a music factory that follows the same recipe. Red dirt country is more like Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, Turnpike Troubadours and Cross Canadian Ragweed. It is more rock influenced. Thank you for your great You Tube videos and thank you for finally getting my overdrive. Sometimes, I stack it with an OCD before it and run a little gain from the OCD into it but it can lose definition quickly if you run too much. Keep up the great work! FYI, I picked up a Livewire tremolo pedal on the cheap and love it! It’s great before the delay. The tremolo settings are great and the vibe setting is too. However the rest are not too hot. It really adds just a little bit of clarity to my delay since I have a warm analog delay. Just wandered what your thoughts are on those old pedals besides being built well. Looking forward to buying more of your pedals.
Simply AMAZING! I had to try all of my guitars with different pickups (Filtertron, humbucker, single coils) and all of them sounded incredible through a Vox AC15; especially when the amp was set on the edge of breakup. Thank you Brian for creating a MONSTER pedal!!
I just bought Wampler Tumnus Deluxe and it's so gooooood! Everything the demos and words promised! Thank you Brian so much for the pedal! I only wish I didn't buy it second hand to get the nice little pouch and other papers with it.
Love you, Brian! Awesome AWESOME Tumnus Deluxe pedal! Just bought one. Light in the lamppost 👍 Clever name homages (K "sen·tor" ~ 🦁🧙♀️ Wardrobe). Great pedal video & vibe~ extremely informative demo for us Tumnus newbies. LONG LIVE WAMPLER!!! 🇺🇸
"Basically, takes it to 11." @ 4:51 hits chord (snickers, then thinks "whaaaat??") Then proceeds to crank that Bad boy! 😂😂😂 Love this pedal. ..and the Wampler team! 🤘🤘🤘 thanks Brian!
I love My Tumnus Deluxe. It tightens up the bottom end like no other 'K' circuit and has an awesome amount of gain in comparison to others I've tried or owned. I'm loving this pedal and it sounds even more amazing stacked with another tasty low gainer, or just goosing the drive channel of my LSS.
Recent convert to your pedals Brian...Love-em...Would be really cool to have the "hot" toggle as a foot switch....eh?.....eh?...lol Keep up the good work Brudda.
I saw this at GC tonight and suspected it was based on that K circuit and......yep. the fact that it's named after a character from the Lion the witch and the wardrobe just seals the deal for me! Going back tomorrow and picking up one.
I have the mini and love it, its my drive of choice, I use it for a boost, even though I use a Boogie jp2c, it sounds even more amazing with the Tumnus hitting the front! Fantastic pedal! I'm getting the deluxe within a week! Wampler rules!!
So the only the Bass & Treble are active, while the Treble is the original one. That's a pretty rad idea for those already familiar with the foundational Tumnus platform! I dig it!
If you have 1 pedal on a pedal board... Wampler Tumnus Deluxe (“T-deluxe” from here out because autocorrect goes nuts) gets my vote. I’ve been buying pedals since the 70s. Currently running an Ego into a Silver Archer into the T-deluxe for sustain & teeth. Everything set about noon, with the bass cranked a bit on the T-deluxe. It’s EQ is actually useful past 2:00, which turns into garbage on many pedals. I’m running stereo from a Dimension C into two 100 watt Marshall heads into respective half stacks, played at “WIFE FRIENDLY LEVELS”, - the bass drops off big time set that low on that hot a head. The T-deluxe with its active bass & midrange works better than the Boss EQ I had in line, for the tone I want. ✨ Great pedal Brian 👍
You have to take a look at this amazing demo if your amazing pedal. I’ve just added a Deluxe version to my pedalboard and it has to be one of the best investments ever thank you
Hey mr Wamp.... so far your original small Tumnus is driving me crazy, i am using it with my Les Paul and it sounds as sweet as the guitar tones on the Styx Equinox album, and when using my Strat I got sounds that comes out of this world, even when playing great jazz chords, so its my best drive pedal so far...my chain is Strat or LP >Tumnus>EH 360>Empress compressor>HOF reverb>Volante Delay>Fender deluxe reverb reissue 🍻🙏🎼
Love this and want this! I am very happy that you have the three active EQ's to radically shape tone. Because I have a small amp (Princeton Reverb) and play at lower volume gigs so I need to usually boost Bass a little to compensate. Otherwise I'm all Mids. I already have the Plexi Drive and this one could be a welcome addition.
When I first plugged my mini Tumnus in I could smell and hear the blood, sweat and tears you put into its development. You have made a lot of great pedals, but these two that are going to put your face on Pedal Rushmore.
The smell was actually me running it at 18 volts accidentally but it is so well built it is still absolutely fine. In fact, maybe the partially melted circutry gave mine some mojo? Capacitor smoke or something making it sound better.
I've had this pedal for 1.5 years. Indispensable for our live shows. Absolutely a phenomenal pedal. Can't say enough. Thanks man!
I have 2 in 2 separate pedal boards .. perfect always ON...
What do you generally use it for live? Do you have a favorite setting or sound?

A little late to the party but just bought my Deluxe. Thanks Brian. Keep up the good work.
Brian, you obviously know people have been wanting this. Excellent job! Ordering mine now.
Best sounding pedal I've heard in a long while. I'm I want one!
Wow, when you cranked the treble it lit up the chimes! Nice machine you built
Wow, great sounding pedal, Brian. Awesome work really. Cheers!
I just bought Wampler Tumnus Deluxe and it's so gooooood! Everything the demos and words promised! Thank you Brian so much for the pedal! I only wish I didn't buy it second hand to get the nice little pouch and other papers with it.
I just bought this pedal to go with my ‘69 Superbass. Best overdrive pedal I’ve ever owned! Really makes the Plexi sound even more…..Plexi!
Will definitely be buying! Can't wait to get my very first Wampler pedal!
Great sounding pedal Brain!! I can't wait to try it out at my local guitar store!!
Love this pedal. ..and the Wampler team! 🤘🤘🤘 thanks Brian!
Killer sounding pedal Brian! Well done!
Just bought my first tumnus . A really quality product .
Thanks - appreciate you running it through its different applications 👍
In "HOT" mode it's like a Klon Screamer.
Just ordered one, can't wait to receive it!!
Best clean tone ever.
Just ordered a Tumnus Deluxe. Can’t wait for it to get here!
"Pot tolerance"
Sounds great Brian, can’t wait to try it out!
Recent convert to your pedals Brian...Love-em...Would be really cool to have the "hot" toggle as a foot switch....eh?.....eh?...lol
Keep up the good work Brudda.
Got one coming on Tuesday, so excited!
Just got this today. Best overdrive I have ever had.
I love the demo with all the little mistakes and the rock n roll attitude of it really doesn't matter because it still sounds awesome.👍🏼
+Sam Morris that’s how I roll! 😊
Just took delivery on my first tumnus...sweet setup...true pro..my 2nd Wampler pedal...have the Plexi mini and I love it
I saw this at GC tonight and suspected it was based on that K circuit and......yep. the fact that it's named after a character from the Lion the witch and the wardrobe just seals the deal for me! Going back tomorrow and picking up one.
🙏
I have the mini and love it, its my drive of choice, I use it for a boost, even though I use a Boogie jp2c, it sounds even more amazing with the Tumnus hitting the front! Fantastic pedal! I'm getting the deluxe within a week! Wampler rules!!
Same for me with my Fimore 50 with the Deluxe knocking on the front door... Excellent!
Any feedback on which one you prefer? I can’t decide on the mini or the delux

Nice video and very educational! I learned a lot! - from Sydney, Australia
"Thats fairly 80's Rockish"
I can't thank you enough for this pedal because I'm pretty much stuck in the 80's sonically.
The humbucker tone at 11:20ish sold me.
How do you play two 100 watt Marshall half stacks at wife friendly volumes? Are you deaf?
@@gavinw5469 An amp room helped, but it’s not perfect ;)
You have to take a look at this amazing demo if your amazing pedal. I’ve just added a Deluxe version to my pedalboard and it has to be one of the best investments ever thank you
Best intro award, hands down
Hey mr Wamp.... so far your original small Tumnus is driving me crazy, i am using it with my Les Paul and it sounds as sweet as the guitar tones on the Styx Equinox album, and when using my Strat I got sounds that comes out of this world, even when playing great jazz chords, so its my best drive pedal so far...my chain is Strat or LP >Tumnus>EH 360>Empress compressor>HOF reverb>Volante Delay>Fender deluxe reverb reissue 🍻🙏🎼
Just great, now we have the deluxe. Can't hide the price from the wife, thanks a lot.
Awesome. I hope this is another big seller for you, looks and sounds like a quality pedal
Just heard about it and getting a new one,
god bless your hands Brain, great job 🤘😍
