- FANTOM is a new kind of creative hub, made for rapid production and expressive performance. Inspiring onboard production tools and deep computer-integration fuel an experience that feels intuitive, natural, and full of possibilities. The expandable sound engine delivers our best electronic and acoustic sounds, with the depth and control to combine and shape them in exciting new ways. And it’s built from premium materials, with a purposeful design, and the FANTOM 6, FANTOM 7 and FANTOM 8 are the best 61-, 76-, and 88-note keyboards we’ve ever made.
In this video, Mark Watson describes how the sound engine is structured through partials, tones, zones and scenes and the exciting new complex LFO modulation available to open up a world of sounds never before heard.
About FANTOM...
At every turn, FANTOM fulfills the need to create. Its smooth, rapid workflow has no confusing modes, frustrating technical limits, or trade-offs with sound quality. FANTOM’s creative process reflects how today’s musicians work, with fluid composition tools, instantly recallable creative environments, and deep computer integration.
FANTOM’s flexible and expandable sound engine leverages decades of research and development, dishing out inspiring and authentic electronic, acoustic, and hybrid sounds by the bucket-load. Combine different synthesis and sampling technologies along with the onboard analog filter for new and unusual sounds-and take advantage of new sound expansions and capabilities as they arrive.
...and after sound quality, what’s more important than playability? The way an instrument feels under your fingers, and how it helps you express yourself, is vital. FANTOM focuses on the experience of playing, from its immersive keyboard action to its arsenal of performance controls.
FANTOM is a complete musical composition platform that excels at fast creation and fluid arrangement. You have RGB pads, a classic TR-REC style pattern sequencer, real-time recording with piano-roll editing, and a grid for recording and launching clips. Use any or all, whenever you want.
While FANTOM is powerful by itself, its powers grow exponentially when connected to other gear like computers or analog synthesizers. FANTOM can control software synthesizers directly from the touchscreen, drive modular and analog synthesizers from its dual CV/Gate outputs, and is also a high-quality audio interface capable of 16 stereo outputs and 3 stereo inputs.

The rythm at the end is very wonderfull !!!
John RAMBO: it's based on Depeche Mode's "Home", go take a listen :)
50 seconds into this vidro was way over my head and this guy sounds like a genius. I feel dumb.
I have an old Fantom G and I swear that thing is still smarter than me. :)
The best synth workstation now from. Roland.
And the rest.
FINALLY, the waiting is almost over !!! Is Roland taking the lead again...... i think they will !!
The Jupiter X, is my synthesizer dream that will come true in 2020. Put me on the list i'll buy it for shure !!
I'm sure many people here would love a rack version
Amazing blows the FA away anyday.
Er, sure, but the FA, even the 88 key version, is about a 3rd of the price of this. Put that way, the FA is still a great buy.
@@duketranslucent3rd yes you get what you pay for!
The sequencer is what really makes it stand out
I own a Yamaha Modx but this Roland looks super cool.
Nice work guys.
Incredible
Can you save recorded WAV files to a USB stick? Thanks
The slider section looks like the Yamaha Montage, and the touchscreen features are reminiscent of the Korg Kronos features, while the synth section kind of looks like the System 8,I'm interested in giving the new Roland Fantom a test run.👍🏿😎🔥
Does this machine have supernatural sounds from the integra 7?
Come on, demo guys. What i really want to know is whether I can use my own 'samples' as osc waveforms. The Fantom literature does not specify, and I won't purchase this workstation if I cannot sound design with my own pcm waves.
FINALLY A DECENT KEYBED, NOT THAT CASIO FEELING ANYMORE. Thanks Roland.
I got a werewolf rap.....
WHAT THE BEAST.
04:00 Why not change to the next scene with a proper button? Pressing a fiddly little touch screen box will be a total pain on stage, live with sweaty hands! These engineers need to get out more! 😁
If you watch the video... The drum pads and buttons on the right hand side can select whatever is on the screen... Also you have the the little back wheel to scroll through the menu and one of the button is select. The touch screen is just another feature.
TheUKmoody But that wasn’t clear in the video.
STOP!!! My head just exploded!
I really love the sound of this new Fantom and the deep synthesis possibilities.
One thing I miss is the SuperNatural acoustic sounds.
Is there any chance that the modeled acoustic sounds for the JP80/Integra will become available for the Fantom via an add-on package?
Nice . . . .
Oooo,that sounds!......Oooooo that price!:-)
Dear Roland, I am waiting for the next version of BK9 arranger keyboard. Can expect it soon ?
R Fantom my Love ❤️
4:03 starts Depeche Mode's "Home"!
La Resistenza: I noticed that too, really awesome song and patch selection
How about loading times of samples ? It has a max internal memory of 2 GB ?
How about more Fantom videos like this?
Love the new synth from Roland. Bit out my league though.
What bit depth are the PCMs? When will you switch to DSD samples?
I love this model but I have no money to buy
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Would be nice if it had Karma Technology
YES!!
Korg has Karma, there’s Karma software for yamaha motif, why is Roland behind ?
I've got a Roland Jupiter 50 on top of a Kronos. So basically it's the best of this and korg with Karma for both with the two midi'd together. Still like the functionality and layout of the new Fantom better though. Kronos takes over a minuite to boot. How long does it take this to turn on? Can't stand waiting for my kronos to boot though good things come to those who wait. :)
do it works on pro tools ??
How large is the sample memory?
What is this model
Looks like an Avenger Synthesizer combined with Ableton Live and Genos.
Fantom or modex? Which one?
Ok sounds great but I want to hear the partials not just piano, things like guitars brass woodwind, keyboards and so on
But will it read GM/SVQ files?????...useless to me if it doesnt...Does it have a full blown sampler like Fantom X/G??? I use G6 and X7 live and thinking of updating...i dont use any laptops so wouldnt use any of the control functions...i cant seem to get an answer anywhere yet.
Nope, pattern-based seq, stored with the Scene and exportable as SMF. Sampler is one-shot/loop for pads only, and performance only, though you can use it to render your seq tracks to wav files in real-time.
@@xp50player welll...fail for me...be sticking with my X & G
THIS IS THE GUY WHO DID THE SOUNDS FOR STRANGER THINGS!!???
Definitely not, that guy is actually TWO guys. Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein
Dear Sir, you look like a kind of mashup of Tony Stark with Steve Rogers!
Drums music 90♫)
So cool, finally Roland is able to fight yamaha and Korg again After many years... I m really thinking to buy it... Hopefully they will be launching a New professional arranger too...
It's obly 3500
Roland, Yamaha, and Korg will never be able to complete with Nord, being the most popular among keyboard players in Nashville.
@@patsaxon5284 depend on type of music......a player is doing
@@patsaxon5284 sure Nord is brilliant but it depends on the Genre of music you are Playing... Show me how to play movie score music with realisitic natural Sounds like on yamaha or Korg on a Nord key....
チャンスです
Yes, this keyboard is very expensive!! But look at the Korg Kronos, it's been roughly 8 years since its release, and a new 61-key is running for $3,000.
Fantom 6 is best OR jupiter 80
Price
$3,999.99 (Fantom 8), $3,599.99 (Fantom 7) and $3,299.99 (Fantom 6). Their other new synths $1,499.99 (Jupiter-Xm) and $2,499.99 (Jupiter-X).
Indian price
@@rasnakorram5476 many rupees
I like the UI and philosophy of the machine, but it lacks in engines aka real sampling technology the Fantom G has. This looks like a FA-X with an V-Piano upgrade and a Korg Gadget sequencer. Very nice, but 1500..2000€ too expensive.
A Roland botou botõesinhos Gays" na sua maquininha , semelhantes ao Yamaha montage " . A falta de criatividade já é muito grave , copiar agora é a onda do momento...🤔🤨
Did I just hear him say mainstage laptop an instrument.
The sound switch without a cut is remarkable......its mean i can change stack of 64 sounds without a glitch.....a lot of keyboards sound cuts during changing....this keyboard is great connectivity, sound and design wise ..........there is one big flaw with all roland's keyboards and thats the sound of acostic and nylon guitars i dont know roland have not heard a guitar sound or they dont know how to sample or cant find a good guitar to sampling.......the acoustic/nylon guitars sounds of all roland keyboards sucks .....see genos hear its guitars and learn......use that audio modeling technology for creation of realistic acoustic/nylon guitar sounds my juno ds and this fantom guitars sounds the same even though there is a huge huge huge difference in price......fix your guitars like you have fixed the violin sound with audio modeling......other than that its marvellous keyboard....
Thumbnail: "sound demo".
Video: 5 sounds.
Sounds like any other VST
Yes,softsynth are getting better and better, and cheaper and cheaper:).But i like the sounds of the Fantom and that is the main reason for me.
@@dirkkeersmaekers4343 I totally agree and if it suits ones needs definitely pull the trigger on one. Its just honestly a lot of money for hardware.
Love Roland, but the price of this Fantom is crazy.
I remember when Kurzweil came out with the K250 back in the early 1980s, and the price was over 10,000.
@@patsaxon5284 nowdays ,Kurzweil PC4 costs 1700 euros ,sounds Great ,and have some innovations too.Great value synth ,check it.Very hard to justify the Fantom's price.By any means
Eurorack --- made easier :)
Roland is finally going back to 2010-2011 but please Roland don’t do that shit again!!! Don’t go plastic on your flagships
BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA
Speaking too much
Music dies when you make it visual. Listen to this audio without watching the video, and you will visualize everything in your brain, you will notice how smarter you get because your brain is putting things together for real. When you do it on screen, that part of your brain is not working and you are not retaining information. The tools need to be within you to be creative, not outside. That is why an architect win awards and construction workers do not. The architect has everything in his mind.
The polyphony on this board is trash, you get less than the 256 they claim
Time to throw my Kronos into the Trash
Stephan S - depends on what you use it for. There is a paragraph of things Kronos does that this doesn’t.
There is No Other Keyboard Workstation like Kronos Before or After Till Now
Never throw any gear in the trash. You’ll thank me 30 years later.
@@WaxDat8800 And,it is good for your wallet:-)
Before you throw your Kronos away, realize that It can play more than 10 times the samples that the Fantom can (roughly 22 gigs streaming vs less than 2 gigs in flash). Kronos can record 24 bit audio tracks, has an FM (VPM) engine and Wavesequencing. Oh, yeah....Kronos multisamples. Fantom may get that feature in an update. What I like about it now is the analog filter, 256 note poly, and some of the sequence modes. Of course, the screen is well laid out and I love the UI. I don't see a Data Slider, and many program parameters are still in a list format, like the original Fantom.
New fantom is not best , Fantom G is best
