- Pan DRAG RACING his 2018 BMW M550i !! It was my first time bringing my new BMW M550i to my local drag race strip. It’s a 1/8 mile track (660ft or 200m) and it was a fun evening!

Twin turbo v8 and awd..yes please. It's amazing how a car that size and weight can get up to speed. That looked like a lot of fun.

@@PanTheOrganizer I love BMWs for that! I have a tuned 2011 550 M-Sport AWD and I do the 1/4 mile in 12.589sec and the 1/2 in 19.740sec. :)
Trap speed in the 1/2 mile was 154.10mph (but I still had the speed limiter, just got it unlocked and can't wait to try it again since I was hitting the limiter about 2sec before going over the finish line)
There's something satisfying about seeing a standard saloon car beating tuned up vehicles..... or is it just me?

Dickie Mcvitie totally agree!!!! I love the sleeper!!!! I just picked up a 2020 M550..... it’s a BEAST and you would never tell by looking at it.. I love when people want to race me..... I destroy them and they never saw it coming, and the added benefit of a sleeper is Law Enforcement doesn’t suspect you of driving recklessly cause the car looks mild mannered. The car is a super power and it’s so fun to drive! That’s my two cents about the car....
True, a standard saloon car.. but a car like the M550i ain't no joke hah.

For some time I wanted to ask will you film some clips like this or just casual relax drive on some nice road and maybe show some cool features of the car. Something like showing your car from drivers point.
Yes I plan on doing a driving review too. Might buy the new GoPro Hero 7 for that.. :)
@@PanTheOrganizer I've seen it couple days ago, it looks like it is really a step up with that image stabilization. I've bought last year "Hama universal auto stativ" it has really big suction cup and absorbs vibrations very good...Hama is German company, and no complaints on built quality, for sure. I've tested it with cheap chinese action cam with no image stabilization and I was amazed. The only thing is, it's a bit on a heavy side but it's rock solid. Keep that in mind and test the mounts before start recording because the vibrations are real troublemakers

The M550 represents hundreds of millions in R&D from the benchmark company of sports sedans vs cars tuned in some guys garage. The launch control in this car is faster than the best pro drivers in the world.
Beautiful car Pan. Track days are a lot of fun. I used to race a ducati 999r around a race track back in Europe back in day. A lot of fun but man can it be expensive in tires!

haha wowww those 1/8 mile tracks are sooo short! I ran at my local 1/4 mile strip a few times back in the day, but then discovered autocross and had WAY more fun!
Each one can find something they like. I would never Autocross with an expensive car I’d be too scared to ruin it lol. But it was a fun night for sure!
haha I was too scared of wrecking my drivetrain from drag racing, but not as much with AutoX. It's just cones after all, and speeds are generally lower. But then again big heavy cars are at a disadvantage with AutoX.
Is there anything that sounds better than a V12? Well yes, two V12's!

Yes I just bought them. My summer set is 20 inches, and for winter I got 19s with high end Nokian Hakkapelliita 9 tires.

The 19's have made some nice changes since the '18's. The M5 is mind blowing.

Hey Pan, any plans on doing some modifications? I believe a simple ECU tune and downpipe will make it be able to keep up with the new M5. You can also do Dinan modifications which will keep the warranty in tact.
No plans yet... But even stock this thing is a monster! :)

Awesome!! I’m waiting for the price to go down a little more on the M550i. It’s the car I’m getting in the same color as yours! How do you like it so far?
I have had it for over 2 years now, and it has been a charm! ZERO issues (this is my second new BMW). Power is insane, comfort is fantastic, and the level of fit and finish is pure German luxury bliss. Paint quality (for a detailer like me) is also super high which was important for me.

Good choice! Yes I still have mine until June. I buy a new car every three years and this summer I am getting a new vehicle. Something insane so stay tuned for that.
My M550i was perfection to own. Zero issues, just awesome comfort, luxury, power and top notch fit n finish. I don’t modify my cars. I like them stock. If I want more power, I’ll buy a more powerful car. Enjoy it!
@@PanTheOrganizer I am still getting to know the car - I’ve only had it a couple of days. I found a great deal on a CPO Mediterranean Blue on black nappa. Lots of options including leather dash and alcantara headliner. Luxury seats, cold
weather and 668M wheels. The car so luxurious and fast - If the cars and comfort mode it is a relaxing luxurious comfortable place to be and put it into sport plus mode transforms it into a super sport sedan! I don’t plan to do any mods - I think the exhaust note stock is perfect it’s quiet enough in comfort mode but in sport plus mode it’s just verbally and loud enough to sound sporty and aggressive without being over the top. Did any of those cars beat you at the drags? Looks like

I have to admit, I loooooove German luxury cars. Before my 2018 BMW M550i, I had a 2015 BMW 435i xDrive Gran Coupe M Sport and before that a 2013 Audi S5. 😎👍🏻

In my province only a rear plate is needed. We’re lucky as this doesn’t ruin our front ends. :)
The older version of the n63 had oil consumption issue, have you experienced any issue so far?

Yup the vehicle is stock. The reason it sounds like an M5 is because the M5 and M550i share the exact same engine: 4.4L twin turbo V8. Only difference is the M550i produces a bit less power (460hp vs 600+ hp).

No. It’s great as is. That’s the point of buying a more expensive 5 series than a 540i for example, so I can enjoy it as is. :)

I specifically chose the M550i because the M5 was a bit too racy for my tastes. I prefer luxury/comfort over sportiness.

And if you can get the M550i, get it. That twin turbo V8 is perfect. You get huge power, awesome sound and the smoothness of driving around with that V8. My previous BMW was a 2015 435i xDrive Gran Coupe M Sport and although BMW in line six engines are awesome, their V8’s are that much better. No doubt.

In a shortened version my well preserved polished waxed sealed Boxster got a bad dose of neglect as i hid away from lits of Colorado smoke etc
After 6 months she was well bad
I was thinking a couple hours of start to finish cleaning
But no!
I had used the Turtle wax hybred ceramic spray on and after a RINSE car was almost perfect on prior to this and the painted surfaces amazing super and wow!

Yeah that would be nice. But stock vs stock my M550i is faster than the previous gen M5 because it’s lighter and has AWD. It would be no contest on the 1/8 mile.

Lolol just reflection. No worries, my car is immaculate. If I had damage, I’d have a heart attack! 😂
