@@vise5224 I have a 2020 M550i. I drove both and the M5, in my opinion, was too harsh for every day driving. Very stiff ride. The M550i is a luxury rocket. Very comfortable and plenty sporty - and a fire breathing beast when you want it to be.
M550i was recalled for an issue with the ECU. After the recall update the M550i is a much different car. The launch on the car was horrible. My 2021 will now spin all four. Considering it’s wet in the video, Carwow should have seen some pretty epic wheel spin It looks like this car didn’t have the update done, this was not putting down full power.

Not rlly. The performance is perfectly fine as Audi likes to balance out luxury and speed. Mercs typically try to be more luxury and BMW's are more sporty. The Audi is like a mix of Mercedes and bmw, which I personally prefer.

Looks like the RS6 is effectively no faster than the BMW that is not even the real M version. I can only imagine how different the results might be in drier conditions and with the nannies disabled.
M550i and RS3 are on my list for next car’s. Currently drive an M240i so idk if i’m ready to commit to a full size SUV or stick to compact. M550i just doesn’t have the handling of a compact, but man a full sized vehicle is just so much comfier than a compact.
It's crazy the M550 has a quicker 1/4 mile in rain than the F10 M5, and having less power. Shows how much more efficient and advanced the newer BMWs are.

Don't think you get it son. The M550i is never going to be an M5 no matter how much you map it. They are completely different cars aimed at different drivers with different needs. The M5 is amazing, but as a daily driver it gets tiring very quickly. They are not comparable. The M550i is the comfortable, plush, daily driver which can still accelerate rapidly when needed, yet won't give you back problems being driven all day over UK pot-hole ridden roads. I'd love an M2C but the running costs, and suspension stiffness would be crippling driving it to work and back every day. So I have an M140i which is a lot more comfortable, costs a lot less to run, yet is actually a fair bit quicker in a straight line now it's running 455bhp/634nm. But, it will never be a proper M car, because the chassis and suspension are not designed in the same way.
Video idea: Matt and yianni each have £1000 or another amount to buy the best performing car in a drag race, and then do the drag/rolling/brake tests as normal

The M550i is definitely the sweet spot in the performance saloon offerings.
So it was predicrable result, giving the 70hp advantage and -150 disadvantage of weight for the RS6.

@@ACERASPIRE1 because if you remove the badges it looks like any M Sport BMW 5 series (520d, 530i etc) but then it can beat pretty much everything in the traffic light Grand Prix, therefore it’s a sleeper, unlike the M5 with its big vents, exhausts and arches

@Maverick doesn't matter. Cars aren't build only for good conditions. In germany there's like 60% rainy days and much snow. And only Audi looks good in such conditions.

Not rlly. The performance is perfectly fine as Audi likes to balance out luxury and speed. Mercs typically try to be more luxury and BMW's are more sporty. The Audi is like a mix of Mercedes and bmw, which I personally prefer.
The problem is BMW and Mercedes realsing like 2-3 versions of their performance cars
the Rs6 can be very heavy and big but it is a very powerful family car very beautiful 4x4 V8 4.0 very good. Top channel I met this month I'm loving it 👍😎

2021 M550i had a launch issue that was fixed via recall only in the last few weeks. Improves 0-60 by about 0.7secs.
^exactly, people have posted substantial results/improvement from pre recall. I was wondering if this had it or not, from the soft launch I would say it didn’t.
Looks like the RS6 is effectively no faster than the BMW that is not even the real M version. I can only imagine how different the results might be in drier conditions and with the nannies disabled.

Looks like the M550i just needs a solid remap and it out drives the RS6. Good job BMW
M550i and RS3 are on my list for next car’s. Currently drive an M240i so idk if i’m ready to commit to a full size SUV or stick to compact. M550i just doesn’t have the handling of a compact, but man a full sized vehicle is just so much comfier than a compact.

It's crazy the M550 has a quicker 1/4 mile in rain than the F10 M5, and having less power. Shows how much more efficient and advanced the newer BMWs are.

there's a recall to fix these m550i's - apparently the acceleration was "too slow." should be out by end of summer... might be interesting to see how it does against competitors after the update is pushed out!

1. Wet races dont tell much of a story. 2. BMW is fixing the lag in this car viansoftware update so this is kind of meaningless. The updates are already available at the dealers. This will be a very very close race after the update

The M550i is never going to be an M5 no matter how much you map it.
They are completely different cars aimed at different drivers with different needs.
The M5 is amazing, but as a daily driver it gets tiring very quickly. They are not comparable. The M550i is the comfortable, plush, daily driver which can still accelerate rapidly when needed, yet won't give you back problems being driven all day over UK pot-hole ridden roads.
I'd love an M2C but the running costs, and suspension stiffness would be crippling driving it to work and back every day. So I have an M140i which is a lot more comfortable, costs a lot less to run, yet is actually a fair bit quicker in a straight line now it's running 455bhp/634nm. But, it will never be a proper M car, because the chassis and suspension are not designed in the same way.
