100%. I was only able to go camping three times in 2021 and due to CA fire restrictions, we made the best of it with cold beer, good food with friends. Would have leveled that up with a camp fire though.
@@nomadhomad3685 I'm with you. Wish I could just have one or two beers instead of one or two 12 packs. It's not worth it my friend, I will never go back! Good ol Coca Cola in a pint glass and lime wedge for me! Fuck AA, it never did a thing for me.
Taku, been watching for about a year now.. just wanted to say I really appreciate what an eco-conscious outdoorsman you are. you have great respect for our oceans and wilderness, you only harvest what you will consume, and you always stay updated on fishing/harvesting regulations. Keep up the great work and have a great 2022👍
it's always better when grown in your garden or harvested from the shore or forged from the woods and you've got all three with a dash of memories of your father. Happy New Year Joz and Taku!
My wife and I stumbled upon your channel while just scrolling through UA-cam videos looking for outdoor living and such. We ended up watching like a bunch of your videos. Great videos 👍. We're planning to retire in the near future and we're thinking about doing exactly what you're doing minus the UA-cam channel. Keep on inspiring us with your videos. One day, hopefully we'll be able to do the same. ✌️✌️✌️
9:53 I just imagine you setting up the camera to record yourself going down and then having to go back up again once you get the shot and then going back down again
It must've been 2 years or more I saw your channel...mostly sushi style, but today you're introducing people to so many types of sea food, and styles of cooking.
Our world has been served a great injustice as of late. Humans taking instead of giving, only focusing on their greed. I recently happened upon yours and Joclyn's vlog, and for a brief time each week I am transferred to a peaceful world of spectacular surroundings, unusual cuisine and bountiful humor. Thank you from a mom who lost her daughter recently to a heartless drunk driver and thought I could never find enjoyment again. I have, even for a short, brief moment.
i love keen brand shoes, i wear the boots for work and the non steeltoe hiking shoes for shingling, the extra rubbered toes are tough and dont wear out like other shoes :)
That place where you found the abalone is in FB. If it is next time use the crab snares. I caught a 7 1/2" red rock crab there. I almost fell down that stupid hill
Yellow foots (cantharellus tubaeformis) are excellent in soups from my experience. They maintain an excellent texture when boiled compared to other wild mushrooms.
If you are ever in Michigan, I would go to Traverse City. There's plenty of camping and fishing. Or, go to upper Wisconsin. They both have great camping and fishing.
Yakitoriguy just turned me on to you. I've been slowly acquiring all the gear to turn my Toyota Venza into Camp Daryl. Can already do Yakitori on the fly for tailgaiting and such, but this will be me in March. Fun segment. Thanks. Nice rig. Going to try all of this.
I’ve been watching you for a while now and I totally love the food you make it’s just truly amazing, Jocelyn is one lucky lady to have such a great man. Peace ✌️
Everything you make always looks soo good lol also i love the keen plug man a local buisness always needs love been wearing keens work boots for about 10 years now the san jose boots are my go to. Hope you have a great year brother Much love !
For Cantonese style of chow mein, do the same thing but try thin egg noodles. It brings another taste type of texture to the noodle dish. Give that a try 😋
That is some awesome camp food! I definitely am not as confident in my mushroom skills as you are. But, I now know more. Thanks you two! Happy new year.
For the limpid use a butter knife but if you ain’t got one use your shoe is kick them off really quick over here we call them opihi and we love to bbq them with shoyu(soy sauce) lemon and onion and optional chili peppers but you probably already know that lol
Taku, thank you for all your videos and content. I learn something nee every time I watch and it helps me to be better at all the common things I do from fishing to foraging, but most of all cooking. Could you do a dish I'd like to see done because I have eaten it but never have seen it done, "Creamy Yellow Crab Curry over Rice"! Ive had it a bunch of time but have never been given the recipe, its yummmmmmmmy! Thank you Taku and Jocelyn! Happy New Year to you both!
Loved the video but bro you should of brought your spatula. The metal on metal chopstick mixing is like fingers on a chalkboard 😵😵 but that looked like a super fun day
That’s the definition of a true forager, spotting mushrooms while taking a morning dump... HAHA I need to make my daily toilet appointments much more productive... Really enjoyed the video man
Happy 2022 Taku & Jocelyn! You are both legends and an inspiration for me to seek adventure and attempt to cook good food😀Your videos always make my mouth water 🤤 and I hope this year brings many blessings to you both. 🍻✌🏽from Broome, Western Australia 🇦🇺
There’s just something about the crackle and smell of a camp fire cold beer , good food and sharing it with your best friend 👍🏼

Camp beers are one thing I def miss about alcohol
@@nomadhomad3685 I just wish I didn’t go overboard with it…every time! Lol
Don't forget good ganja 👌

That was super cool and empathetic trying to help the abalone out like that, much respect man!

I just got it, "taklyn the world" Taku mixed with Jocelyn... I love it!
save the abalone!! loved that part. their shells are beautiful, so happy to see you find so many in 1 spot.
yellow feet and hedgehogs are my favorites and you can find them all winter long!
I like his fun facts... it just makes all his videos so much better
it's always better when grown in your garden or harvested from the shore or forged from the woods and you've got all three with a dash of memories of your father. Happy New Year Joz and Taku!

Wow, hedgehogs and yellowfoots, foragers' favs!
Whoa!! That open outhouse reminds me of Jurassic Park.. When the lawyer got gobbled up by the Tyrannosaurus!
9:53 I just imagine you setting up the camera to record yourself going down and then having to go back up again once you get the shot and then going back down again
I just love how you are so caring for all of the sea life even if you can't harvest it. Beautiful! Happy New Year!
Keen insoles are such gamechangers
TAKU TUESDAY BABY
Relaxing at its finest! Love the peace you guys bring , it helps me relax. Ty !!
I do white rice with two over medium eggs for breakfast, so that dish in the beginning LOOKED SO DAMN GOOD
Those crispy noodles really are addictive!
My wife really enjoys the videos with Jocelyn and hopes maybe you can give her an introduction at the start of the videos?😊🍀🎣
Wooohoo first video of 2022! Awesome to see your channel grow
I kinda want a behind the scenes cook gear clean up vid.. we all get our pans dirty in the field, but I wanna see the PRO method lol

I love Jocelyn's hair!
So sweet of you to hydrate the abalone!! Super awesome
It must've been 2 years or more I saw your channel...mostly sushi style, but today you're introducing people to so many types of sea food, and styles of cooking.
Next time you goto the Asian market, please take your viewers with you. We'd love to see what you buy and all the cool things you find in there :)
Those tide pools are beautiful
I thought when you were doing your business in the outhouse you saw some shit-taki mushrooms. Great Vid Taku.
Good one
TAKU! Get yourself an old butter knife for the limpets, pry um right off in one clean motion. That’s how we do in Hawaii.
Not allowed to use tools to grab limpets in California unfortunately
That bite tho..... Nom! 🤤 I'd have tossed some ginger in too. Looked bomb! Gonna cook that!
yum! this is my favorite dish! In Cantonese we call it "2 sides brown" since both sides of the noodles are crispy.
