About the closed captioning. His wife, Kathy, suffers from profound hearing loss, partially alleviated with hearing aids. He is very cognizant of the needs of the hearing impaired so his captions are a little more descriptive than standard. He also throws in a little humor from time to time. His version of Shenandoah, an old American folksong is beautiful!
Thanks for doing this one. It is absolutely one of my favorites. He's said that, especially when he was younger, it was common for him to record something 70 times in a day when he was preparing for a tryout - over and over again, not to hit the notes, but to make them sound beautiful.
I just noticed the popping champagne bottle, and realized that was an homage to the original, which is actually not about a woman going away, but it is about running out of alcohol. Hey, our vices were simpler back when Bill Withers performed this.
I started with his cover of Sixteen Tons. I've been a fan ever since. You might want to try Tim Foust singing Will you still love me tomorrow/Stay. He's the bass for the group Home Free.
This one brings me to tears, which the original nevr did. Geoff puts so much emotion into anything he does. the first one I saw from Geoff on his own was Take Me Home Country Roads. I love it still.

Haha, had to rewatch it just for that part. Brilliant!
The sadest thing is his wife hearing loss, she's not capable of hear the angelical voice of his husband at full potential.
